New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): The <keyword id="20025828" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler-sales" source="keywords">two-wheeler sales</keyword> in India in June registered a growth of 21.3 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y), highlights the sales data released by the <keyword id="20163832" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="society-of-indian-automobile" source="keywords">Society of Indian Automobile</keyword> Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday. The data highlighted that in June the total sales of the two wheelers were recorded at 16,14,154 units which is a 21.3 per cent increase from 13,30,826 two wheeler sold in June 2023. The sales of the scooters also surged to a record 42 per cent Y-o-Y in June to 5.4 lakhs, last year in June it was at 3.8 lakhs. The sales of Bikes also registered two-fold growth with sales increased by 11 per cent in June to 10.3 lakhs as compared to 9.1 lakh last year during the same period. The <keyword id="20028264" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="passenger-vehicle-sales" source="keywords">passenger vehicle sales</keyword> also registered a growth of 3 per cent Y-o-Y in June. The total passenger vehicle sales during June stands at 3,37,757 units, it was 3,27,788 units during June 2023. The sales of <keyword id="20412606" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="three-wheelers" source="keywords">three-wheelers</keyword> surged twofold by an increase of 12.3 per cent, according to the data total 59, 544 units of three wheelers were sold in June 2024 as against 53, 025 units sold in June 2023. The sales data for June demonstrates a positive outlook for the Indian <keyword id="20081560" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="automobile-industry" source="keywords">automobile industry</keyword>. The substantial growth in two-wheeler sales, particularly scooters and motorcycles, along with the steady increase in passenger and three-wheeler sales, reflects a resilient and expanding automobile market in India. Earlier in May, the sales of passenger cars dropped by over 11 per cent, according to the data by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The domestic sales of passenger cars also slipped 11 per cent from 1,20,364 units in May 2023 to 1,06,952 units in May 2024. The auto companies also reduced the production of passenger cars by 13 per cent, from 1,63,619 units in May 2023 to 1,42,367 units 2024. Export of passenger cars too saw a drop of about 20 per cent from 35,806 units in May 2023 to 28,802 units in May 2024. However, the sales number of June showed the positive signs of growth in the automobile industry.

The stock of the company declined 4.09 per cent to trade at Rs 1,097.65 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). On the BSE, scrip of Tata Motors dropped 3.69 per cent to trade at Rs 1,102.40 per piece. The 30-share BSE Sensex tumbled 767.65 points or 0.94 per cent to trade at 81,099.90, while NSE Nifty fell 206.70 points to 24,804.20. On Thursday, Tata Motors reported an 11 per cent year-on-year dip in total sales at 71,996 units in July. The company had sold 80,633 units in July 2023. Its total domestic sales dipped 11 per cent and stood at 70,161 units last month as against 78,844 units in the year-ago period. The auto major said its consolidated net profit increased 74 per cent to Rs 5,566 crore in the June 2024 quarter, aided by robust performance by Jaguar Land Rover as well as domestic business. It had posted a net profit of Rs 3,203 crore in the April-June quarter of last fiscal. The company's total income increased to Rs 1,09,623 crore for the period under review against Rs 1,03,597 crore in the June quarter in FY24. On a standalone basis, the automaker said its net profit stood at Rs 2,190 crore compared to a net loss of Rs 64 crore in the year-ago period. Total income rose to Rs 18,851 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal against Rs 16,132 crore in the corresponding period of FY24. Jaguar Land Rover reported a revenue of 7.3 billion pounds, the best first-quarter revenue on record, up 5 per cent versus the June quarter of FY24. The company also said its board has approved the Scheme of Demerger of Tata Motors Ltd (TML) into two separate listed companies. As part of the scheme, TML will demerge its commercial vehicle undertaking, involving the commercial vehicle business (all the assets, liabilities and employees relating to the commercial vehicle business) and all its related investments, into TMLCV. Further, pursuant to the scheme, the existing passenger vehicle business in TMPV, will be merged into TML, the existing listed entity. Upon the scheme becoming effective, both TMLCV and TML will be renamed, resulting in two separate listed entities. Tata Motors shares slump 4% on poor sales data

Overall passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers rose to 3,59,228 units last month from 3,28,376 units in August 2022. Utility vehicle sales increased 34% year-on-year to 1,81,825 units. Passenger car dispatches on the other hand declined 10% to 1,20,031 units from 1,33,477 units in August 2022. Van wholesales also dipped to 11,859 units from 12,236 units. "Last month saw the highest ever August month sales for passenger vehicles and three-wheelers," Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) President <keyword id="230167" type="General" weightage="40" keywordseo="Vinod-Aggarwal" source="Orion">Vinod Aggarwal</keyword> said in a statement. Three-wheeler sales rose to 64,763 units in August as against 38,369 units in the same month last year. Two-wheeler dispatches increased to 15,66,594 units from 15,57,429 units. In the passenger vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki India saw an increase of 16% in dispatches to dealers at 1,56,114 units from 1,34,166 units in August 2022. Rival Hyundai Motor India dispatched 53,830 units to dealers as against 49,510 units in the same month last year.

As of 2021, according to Crunchbase, it had raised over $1 billion from investors.However, a 2023 <a target="_blank" class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/23andme-data-stolen-hacked-sold-dark-web-2023-10">data hack</a> kicked off a series of problematic hurdles that 23andMe just can't seem to clear.News that hackers were selling user data — which included birth details and names — on the <a target="_blank" class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/23andme-data-stolen-hacked-sold-dark-web-2023-10">dark web</a> broke that October. The company confirmed in December that <a target="_blank" class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/23and-me-hack-data-breach-personal-data-2023-12">hackers had accessed ancestry data</a> for just under 7 million users. The director of cybersecurity at Electronic Frontier Foundation, a nonprofit focused on digital privacy, urged their 186,000 X followers to delete their data from 23andMe. "Deleting an account and associated data will permanently delete the data associated with all profiles within the account. New Delhi, India's consumption of <keyword id="118558" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="petroleum-products" source="Orion">petroleum products</keyword> rose to a seven-month high in December to about 20.05 million metric tons, according to data compiled by the Petroleum Ministry. Total consumption rose by 6.2 per cent from 18.89 million tons in November and was 2.6 per cent higher than the corresponding figure for December last year. Sales of diesel, mainly used in the transport and farm sectors increased by 0.9 per cent month-on-month to 7.6 million tons. However, <keyword id="3146552" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="petrol-sales" source="Orion">petrol sales</keyword> fell by 4.5 per cent in December to 2.99 million tons compared to the previous month. LPG sales rose by 5.6 per cent to 2.63 million tons as more households are shifting to the clean gas from firewood nationwide. Sales of bitumen, used for making roads, jumped by 12.9 per cent from November reflecting the increase in construction in big highway projects that has gathered momentum. Naphtha sales jumped by 27.9 per cent to 1.33 million tons while fuel oil recorded a 9.6 per cent increase in December.

The domestic <keyword id="17386539" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="commercial-vehicle-industry-volumes" source="Orion">commercial vehicle industry volumes</keyword> are expected to grow by 7-10 per cent in FY2024, supported by replacement demand, pick-up in mining, infrastructure construction activities and overall healthy fleet utilisation levels, rating firm Icra said on Thursday. This is despite the 5 per cent year-on-year and 41 per cent sequential contraction in volumes in April 2023, it noted. The growth in FY2024 would follow a year of healthy demand in FY2023, wherein the industry volumes expanded by more than 33 per cent, supported by a favourable base, as well as a healthy pick-up in macroeconomic activity, Icra said. The scrappage policy, which was announced in March 2021, has been implemented from April 1, 2023, and is likely to contribute to the growth of new commercial vehicle sales, it added. "The major impact of the scrappage policy is expected in the CV (Commercial Vehicle) segment, especially passenger carriers, as the usage of other vehicles such as two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, etc. beyond 15 years would be limited," Icra Corporate Ratings Vice President &amp; Co Group Head Kinjal Shah stated. The analysts, led by Adam Jonas, forecast a rise to $500 a share in their most bullish scenario, a gain of about 50% from prices on Tuesday afternoon. The stock was trading around $332.45 at 1:58 p.m. ET. They said that Tesla, with 80% of its year-to-date revenues coming from vehicle sales, is frequently excluded from the enthusiasm surrounding artificial intelligence, datacenters, renewable energy, robotics, and on-shoring. However, they think that could change in the coming years if Tesla can successfully implement some of its initiatives outside the core car business. "Tesla is a car company. That is a fact. However, we also view Tesla as a collection of call options," the analysts said in a Monday note. "Many of these call options have exercise dates far out into the future. Many may not be exercised at all. Others may be starting to move into the money right now."The analysts point in particular to its energy sector, which is already showing huge growth even though few investors cared about it just a few quarters ago. Last year, Tesla's storage deployments more than doubled, and are on track to do so again this year, the analysts say.That means it's no longer controversial to suggest Tesla's energy business could soon be more valuable than its auto business, they wrote.They also see the potential for its autonomous driving capabilities to be the "great unlock" that transforms Tesla into an AI giant."In our opinion, the winners in autonomy (whether in cars or other form factors) will be those firms who can combine capabilities in data, robotics, energy, AI, manufacturing and downstream infrastructure," the analysts said. "We believe Tesla has the capability to benefit from this theme over time."The emergence of other themes will be helped by Musk's potentially greater political influence in coming years, the analysts say.Since the election, investors seem to be betting that Musk—and his companies—will benefit from his close ties to the President-elect.
