<ul class="summary-list"><li>A former tech exec was charged with embezzling $2.7 million from his employer.  </li><li><keyword id="18569102" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aubrey-jackson" source="Orion">Aubrey Jackson</keyword> <keyword id="18569101" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="shelton-ii" source="Orion">Shelton II</keyword> was accused of using the company's payroll software to "inflate his paychecks." </li></ul>A former tech executive has been charged with embezzling around $2.7 million from his employer after an indictment alleged that he inflated his paychecks and hid proceeds from the IRS for more than eight years.<br /><br />Aubrey Jackson Shelton II was arrested and charged with tax evasion, bank fraud, and wire fraud, a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndca/pr/san-francisco-man-charged-tax-evasion-and-embezzling-27-million-san-francisco-company">press release</a> on Friday from the US Attorney's Office in the <keyword id="4219292" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="northern-district" source="Orion">Northern District</keyword> of California says. <br /><br />An indictment alleges that the former San Francisco executive used his "exclusive control" of the firm's payroll software to "inflate his salary and bonuses," paying himself large sums of money between 2013 and 2021, the press release says.<br /><br />It adds that he used the software to categorize the payments as  "Executive Loan," "Misc Reimbursement," and "Mileage Reimbursement."<br /><br />He also is alleged to have falsified information given to the payroll processor, given false payroll approval to the CEO of the company, and sent false tax returns to the IRS that did not disclose the money he is accused of embezzling.<br /><br />Shelton is scheduled to appear at San Francisco federal district court in October.<br /><br />If found guilty, he could be sentenced to prison for up to 30 years for bank fraud and be fined up to $1 million for each violation.<br /><br />He could face additional prison time of up to 20 years for wire fraud and a potential further five years for tax evasion, according to the press release. <br /><br />Another California tech executive was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of four counts of defrauding investors last year.<br /><br /><a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/theranos-founder-ceo-elizabeth-holmes-life-story-bio-2018-4?r=US&amp;IR=T"><u>Elizabeth Holmes duped investors</u></a> with false claims about the effectiveness of the technology at her blood-testing company, Theranos. However, her <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elizabeth-holmes-out-of-prison-nearly-2-years-sooner-2023-7?r=US&amp;IR=T"><u>prison term was shortened</u></a> by two years in July.<br /><br />RepairPal told Insider in a statement: "Shelton acted alone and no other company employees were involved. RepairPal has no criminal liability in this matter and Shelton's actions have had no material impact on our partners, customers or day-to-day operation of our business. We have cooperated fully with authorities and will continue to do so."<br /><br />

The Texas <keyword id="12911201" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="nonprofit" source="Orion">nonprofit</keyword>, founded by Aubrey Schlackman, supports five families and has a dozen more on its waiting list, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/01/us/politics/texas-abortion-roe-wade.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes">The New York Times reported</a>. </p><p>Among those receiving help from Blue Haven is T., a domestic violence survivor and mother of four who was denied an <keyword id="11901426" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="abortion" source="Orion">abortion</keyword> of her latest pregnancy for being too far along at seven weeks. Blue Haven will support her family of five for up to a year after the birth of T.'s son but, with limited donation-based resources, the organization is forced to turn away other pregnant women in need of support.</p><p>"We do want to limit abortions," Schlackman told <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/01/us/politics/texas-abortion-roe-wade.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes">NYT</a>. "But we personally weren't ready to handle an influx, and I know so many of the other nonprofits that we work with aren't ready for that, either."</p><p>Blue Haven did not respond to Insider's request for comment. </p><p>Though T. described Blue Haven as a "lifeline" for her family, she worries about what they will do when she has to leave the program next year and told <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/01/us/politics/texas-abortion-roe-wade.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes">NYT</a> she has a message for the Texas legislature:</p><p>"You don't know what is best for any family, you didn't protect me or my kids. I protect my kids. Only a mom can know what is best for herself and her family," T. said. "And if you're going to force women to have all of these babies that they are not equipped to have, then you need to provide support for women and their children after the babies are born."</p>

But that's going to change soon.<p>Since playing his father in the hit N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton" in 2015, the rising&#xa0;star has been keeping a low profile. However, it seems he was just waiting for the right role, and it finally came with the dark comedy, "Ingrid Goes West" (currently playing in theaters).</p><p>In the movie, in which Aubrey Plaza plays Ingrid - a social media stalker who is obsessed with an Instagram star (played by Elizabeth Olsen) - Jackson Jr. plays Dan Pinto, Ingrid's landlord and eventual love interest.</p><p>With a role that could have easily been forgettable, Jackson Jr., 26, uses it to become the movie's secret weapon. From his constant vaping to his obsession with Batman (specifically "Batman Forever"), Jackson Jr. elevates the movie's comedy while showing audiences there's a lot more to his talents than impersonating his father's gangsta rap days.</p><p>"I looked at 'Ingrid Goes West' as an opportunity to show my versatility as an actor," Jackson Jr. told Business Insider earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. "People see 'Straight Outta Compton' and they look at that as a big family project, but those people don't know that I went to film school. I went to the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, so cinema's a very big part of my life."</p><p>Jackson Jr. said a big reason why he hasn't gotten the steady work of&#xa0;his fellow castmates from "Compton," Corey Hawkins ("24: Legacy") and Jason Mitchell ("Detroit"), is simply because he was looking for something different than what he was being offered.</p><p>"This was the only script where I didn't get a gun," Jackson Jr. said of "Ingrid Goes West."</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>In fact, it was Jackson Jr.'s fun personality that evolved the Dan Pinto role.<p>"We realized we had this goldmine and we were just like, 'How can we use this for the betterment of the story?'" director Matt Spicer said of casting Jackson Jr.</p><p>That led to Spicer and his cowriter, David Branson Smith, scrapping some of the things about the Pinto character they had in the screenplay, and tweaking it to better fit Jackson Jr.'s colorful personality.</p><p>We caught a glimpse of that at Sundance. With a big wide grin and infectious laugh, he's far from the introvert he depicted his father to be in "Straight Outta Compton." And when our interview ended, instead of going straight to his phone as most, Jackson Jr. jumped up and walked over to where his costars Plaza and Olsen were doing interviews, and began making funny faces at them. The two couldn't help but laugh while trying to answer questions.&#xa0;</p><p>It might be a little while before we see Jackson Jr. in a comedic role again. He'll next be starring in the bank heist movie "Den of Thieves," and the sequel to 2014's "Godzilla." It seems his master plan is to try out all kinds of roles.</p><p>"I came up with this phrase today, I want to be Black Pitt," Jackson Jr. said. "I don't want to be typecast into one role, I want to be versatile. Los Angeles, May 3 () The team of "Parks and Recreation" has raised up to USD 2.8 million for charity with its one-time scripted special episode.<p>The episode, which premiered on NBC on April 30, was watched by 3.67 million viewers and had a rating of 1.4, reported Deadline.</p><p>The special raised money for Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund, which helps food banks secure the resources they need to serve the most vulnerable members of their communities.</p><p>All the stars of the sitcom -- Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O'Heir and Retta -- returned for the Universal TV-produced special.</p><p>Some other familiar faces, including Ben Schwartz and Jay Jackson, also came back.</p><p>The half-hour special saw Pawnee, Indiana's most dedicated public servant, Leslie Knope (Poehler), determined to stay connected with her friends and colleagues during a time of social distancing.</p><p>Michael Schur, who co-created the show with Greg Daniels, spearheaded the initiative.</p>"Parks and Recreation" ran from 2009 to 2015 on NBC. <p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Traffic in New York on Sunday evening was a nightmare in midtown thanks to MTV's Video Music Awards, but one of the artists was even caught in the gridlock himself - Aubrey Graham, aka Drake.<p>Drake won the first award of the night for best hip-hop video for "Hotline Bling," but the rapper was unable to collect his Moon Man because, as Puff Daddy told the crowd, he was "stuck in traffic."</p><p>It seemed like a joke at the time, and Twitter ran with it, with a lot&#xa0;of reactions about the seemingly lame excuse.</p><p><div></div></p><p><div></div></p><p><div></div></p><p>But it turns out that Drake wasn't just making an excuse: "Drake really was stuck in traffic - that was true," <a href="http://www.billboard.com/articles/events/vma/7487924/what-you-didnt-see-2016-vmas">a VMAs staffer told Billboard</a>.</p><p>The Canadian star showed up just in in the nick of time, however, to present his reported&#xa0;girlfriend Rihanna with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.</p><p>Knowing Drake, he probably got out of his car and ran to Madison Square Garden.</p><p>"She's one of my best friends in the world," <a href="http://www.thisisinsider.com/mtv-vmas-drake-rihanna-kiss-2016-8">Drake said in his speech</a>. "All my adult life, I've looked up to her even though she's younger than me.
