However, when S&amp;P created its new index, it backtested it to December 21, 2007. It found that the sector returned 9.9% annualized over the next 10-ish years, through May 16, 2018. Globally, esports draws an active viewership of 143 million, and that number shoots up to 307 million if you count occasional viewers.
