Reacting to a follower on Twitter who asked for a free copy, <keyword id="3433" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="grover" source="Orion">Grover</keyword> said: "Na bhai - business is business -- kitaab pehle aa gayi thi -- yeh case shase to isliye aaye kyun ki kitaab se sab ki fat li (My book came first and this triggered the cases against him as it created panic for all (at BharatPe)". BharatPe CEO enjoying life with money I raised but fails to grow company, says Ashneer Grover

In his memoir 'Doglapan', <keyword id="3433" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="grover" source="Orion">Grover</keyword> said that with the IPO being oversubscribed more than 30 times, he got an allotment of shares worth over ₹3 crore. "My RMs (relationship managers), based on grey-market premiums, were expecting the Zomato share to list between ₹85-90, as against an issue price of ₹76. I, however, was certain that it would do far better. When the share opened on the listing day at ₹116 per share, I mandated them to sell all my shares," he wrote. By the time the trade got executed, "I got a selling price of ₹136 per share. With my landing cost after interest being between ₹82-85, 1 ended up making over ₹2.25 crore," he said. "Within eight minutes of the Zomato IPO opening, I had made over ₹2.25 crore." Grover said that he became a little greedy post the Zomato IPO. "I went in for the Car Trade IPO but ended up losing ₹25 lakh there," he said. Grover, currently facing a court case filed by BharatPe that he co-founded, said that he was bullish on the Zomato IPO on several counts. "Of course, I knew of Deepinder (Goyal), and I am a big believer in his ability to persevere and keep building big. Fundamentally, with the pandemic the ticket size of their orders had grown, as people were ordering food from home for 3-4 members in the family, as against single rolls in office, thereby increasing Zomato's absolute margins," he wrote. Moreover, with restaurants completely dependent during lockdowns on app orders, there was no risk of the take-rate coming down. "On the other hand, job insecurity among delivery boys kept delivery costs in check. Likewise, 'RRR' music composer M.M. Keeravaani is in the shortlist for Original Score. 'RRR' figures again in Davis's shortlist for Visual Effects and earns an honourable mention for Sound. As Oscar vote draws closer, 'RRR' nets 11 mentions on 'Variety' shortlists

<keyword id="15747311" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nihar-malaviya" source="Orion">Nihar Malaviya</keyword>, an Indian-origin publishing executive, has been named interim CEO of New York-based international publishing group <keyword id="1573649" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="penguin-random-house" source="Orion">Penguin Random House</keyword> after its current chief executive officer <keyword id="1432902" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="markus-dohle" source="Orion">Markus Dohle</keyword> announced he is stepping down from the role. Malaviya, who has been President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the publisher's American division Penguin <keyword id="191608" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="random-house" source="Orion">Random House</keyword> US since 2019, will assume the role of Interim CEO of Penguin Random House starting January 1, 2023, the publisher's parent company Bertelsmann said in a statement Friday. Malaviya, who will report to Bertelsmann CEO <keyword id="3029301" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="thomas-rabe" source="Orion">Thomas Rabe</keyword>, will join the Bertelsmann's Group Management Committee (GMC), as well as continue to be a member of the Penguin Random House Global Executive Committee. "Following Malaviya's appointment, the GMC will comprise 20 top executives of eight different nationalities," the statement said. As interim CEO of Penguin Random House, Malaviya will "lead the creation of new competitive advantages that position the global company for future growth," the statement said. In his capacity as President and COO, Malaviya, 48, was responsible for all publishing operations in the US from supply chain to technology and data and client services. Dohle is stepping down as CEO at the end of 2022, and simultaneously resigning his seat on the Bertelsmann Executive Board, "at his own request and on the best of mutual terms," Bertelsmann said. Dohle said in the statement that after nearly 15 years on the Executive Board of Bertelsmann and at the helm of the global publishing business, he has decided to hand over the next chapter of Penguin Random House to new leadership, following the antitrust decision in the US against the merger of Penguin Random House and Simon &amp; Schuster. In late October this year, the US District Court for the District of Columbia ruled in favour of the Justice Department in its civil antitrust lawsuit to block Penguin Random House's proposed USD 2.2 billion acquisition of Simon &amp; Schuster. The court had found that the effect of the proposed merger would be to substantially lessen competition in the market for the US publishing rights to anticipated top-selling books. Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter of the Justice Department's Antitrust Division had said that the decision protected vital competition for books and was a victory for authors, readers, and the free exchange of ideas. "The proposed merger would have reduced competition, decreased author compensation, diminished the breadth, depth, and diversity of our stories and ideas, and ultimately impoverished our democracy," Kanter had said. Since 2014, Malaviya had the responsibility for all publishing operations in the US from the supply chain to technology and data and client services. He is a member of the Penguin Random House Global Executive Committee and leads the creation of new competitive advantages that position the global company for future growth. Malaviya began his career at Bertelsmann in 2001 as a participant in the Bertelsmann Entrepreneurs Programme. In 2003, he moved within the group to Random House, successfully taking on a number of leadership positions. Malaviya is a two-time recipient of the Bertelsmann Entrepreneur Award for Strategy Execution and serves on the Bertelsmann Technology and Data Advisory Board. He holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the NYU Stern School of Business, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Malaviya is also a member of the board of Yale University Press. Rabe described Malaviya as an "outstanding leader and an entrepreneurial publishing professional who knows Penguin Random House inside out. "As the person responsible for all operational publishing processes in the US as well as the implementation of a global Tech &amp; Data agenda, he has played a major role in the company's success and created sustainable competitive advantages for Penguin Random House globally," Rabe said. Rabe added that with his deep understanding of the global media landscape and publishing industry, Malaviya will continue to develop the company and invest in its expansion, both organically and through acquisitions. Penguin Random House names Nihar Malaviya as interim CEO

Retail sales of overall vehicles in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> grew by 15.28 per cent to 2,11,20,441 units in 2022 led by record sales of passenger vehicles and tractors, <keyword id="1692051" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="federation-of-automobile-dealers-associations" source="Orion">Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations</keyword> (<keyword id="354719" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="fada" source="Orion">FADA</keyword>) said on Thursday. In 2021, total retail sales of vehicles in India were at 1,83,21,760 units, FADA said in a statement. Two-wheelers retail sales stood at 1,53,88,062 units last year, a growth of 13.37 per cent from 2021 when sales stood at 1,35,73,682 units. Passenger vehicles (PV) retail sales were at 34,31,497 units in 2022, as against 29,49,182 units in 2021, up 16.35 per cent, it added. FADA President Manish Raj <keyword id="1114" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="singhania" source="Orion">Singhania</keyword> said, "For CY2022, while total vehicle retails grew by 15 per cent year-on-year and 17 per cent compared to CY20 it failed to surpass CY19 retails, (a pre-Covid year) and registered a fall of 10 per cent." He further said, "The PV category during this period continued to gain new grounds by clocking 34.31 lakh retails during the full year. This is by far, the highest retails which PV has done till date." Singhania, however, lamented that the two-wheeler segment once again failed to impress as retail sales during December 2022 continued to fall after two good months. "Reasons like rise in inflation, increased cost of ownership, rural market yet to pick up fully and increased EV sales, the ICE (internal combustion engine) two-wheeler segment is yet to see any green shoots," he added. In 2022, commercial vehicles retail sales stood at 8,65,344 units, as against 6,55,696 units in 2021, a growth of 31.97 per cent. "The CV segment has continued to grow during entire CY2022 and is now almost at par with CY2019 retails. With an uptick in demand in LCV (light commercial vehicles), HCV (heavy commercial vehicles), buses and construction equipment, the government's continued push for infrastructure development has kept this segment going," Singhania said. He also said the three-wheeler segment which was completely down during <keyword id="8764262" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="covid" source="Orion">Covid</keyword> has recovered well and has narrowed its gap when compared to CY2019. "Within the segment it's the electric rickshaw sub-segment which is showing triple-digit growth thus pushing the EV market share above 50 per cent mark," he added. Three-wheeler retail in 2022 stood at 6,40,559 units, as compared to 3,73,562 units in 2021, up 71.47 per cent. Singhania said the tractor segment was the only other segment apart from PV which has grown well above calendar years 2021,2020 and pre-Covid year of 2019. "It has also registered a new lifetime high sales of 7.94 lakh units. This feat was possible due to consistently good monsoon, improved cash flow with farmers, better MSP of crops and government's focus on better procurements," he added. Tractor retail sales in 2021 were at 7,69,638 units. Apart from this, timely sowing of rabi crops also helped to continue this momentum. Festive season sales which were normal after 3 years also played its part in this strong momentum, Singhania said. In December 2022, FADA said the total vehicle retail sales were down 5.4 per cent at 16,22,317 units as against 17,14,942 units in the year-ago month. Two-wheelers retail sales stood at 11,33,138 units last month, as against 12,75,894 units in December 2021, a decline of 11.19 per cent, FADA said. Passenger vehicle retail sales were at 2,80,016 units as compared to 2,58,921 units in December 2021, up 8.15 per cent, while commercial vehicles segment witnessed retail sales of 66,945 units as compared to 60,491 units in December 2021, a growth of 10.67 per cent. On the outlook, FADA said global geopolitical headwinds, tightening monetary policy and the lingering effect of the pandemic have combined to create a gloomy global outlook. "Auto OEMs have done routine price hikes in December and have announced the same at the beginning of this year. Apart from this, BS-VI phase II norms coming in, there will be further price hikes across all categories," it said, adding to counter this, Auto OEMs should announce special schemes so that retail sales momentum continues. Due to inflation pressure, upcoming change in vehicle norms resulting in price hikes, FADA said it remains cautious during the last quarter of FY23.
