Co-promoter Rakesh Gangwal’s wife, Shobha Gangwal is known to have sold 4% of her stake in the company via block deals, according to <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/stocks/indigo-crashes-after-large-block-deal-shobha-gangwal-likely-seller-10093341.html">media reports</a>. As per CNBC-TV18, the floor price for the block deal was set at ₹1,875 per share and Goldman Sachs was appointed as the broker. Last September, Rakesh Gangwal <a href="https://www.livemint.com/companies/news/rakesh-gangwal-to-sell-2-8-stake-in-indigo-for-250-million-in-block-deal-11662558562338.html">was reportedly looking to</a> sell 2.8% stake in the low cost airline for approximately $250 million. As of December 2022, Shobha Gangwal held 7.04% stake in the company while the airline’s co-founder Rakesh Gangwal held 13.24% stake. The promoter group currently owns a majority 71.92% stake in the airline. <keyword id="1697775" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kapil-bhatia" source="Orion">Kapil Bhatia</keyword> and <keyword id="325253" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rahul-bhatia" source="Orion">Rahul Bhatia</keyword> hold 0.01% stake each while <keyword id="16015993" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="asha-mukherjee" source="Orion">Asha Mukherjee</keyword> held 0.32% in the airline. Rahul Bhatia is the promoter and managing director of the airline. The market capitalization of the aviation company stood at ₹73,159 crore. Shares of the company have fallen over 9% in the last one month. Earlier this month, Indigo reported its highest ever quarterly revenue of ₹15,410 crore in Q3, on the back of strong demand during the peak travel season. Net profit of the airline rose to ₹1,422 crore as compared to ₹129 crore last year. Last quarter, it had posted a net loss of ₹1,583 crore. “Third quarter performance was strong both operationally and financially in the backdrop of robust demand for air travel. The wide range of initiatives that were set in motion across the organization have started to yield results,” said <keyword id="4490438" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pieter-elbers" source="Orion">Pieter Elbers</keyword>, CEO of Indigo. IndiGo stock slips 4.5% as 18 million shares exchange hands via block deals

H0yderabad, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday announced 30 per cent salary hike for all the government employees and teachers under the 11th Pay Revision Commission (PRC). He told the <keyword id="6671774" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-legislative-assembly">State Legislative Assembly</keyword> that the orders will come into force with effect from April 1, 2021. He also announced raising the superannuation age for employees and teachers up to 61 years. In 2018 election manifesto, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (<keyword id="43749" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="TRS">TRS</keyword>) had promised to increase retirement age from 58 to 61 years. The salary hike will benefit around 9.17 lakh employees working the state. Unlike in the past when pay revision was given to only regular employees, the government decided to implement the PRC recommendations for contract and outsourcing employees, homeguards, Anganwadi and <keyword id="6402431" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="asha">ASHA</keyword> workers, SERP employees, Vidya Volunteers, <keyword id="6398301" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="KGBV">KGBV</keyword> and <keyword id="53505" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SSA">SSA</keyword> employees, grant-in-aid, work charged and daily wage employees. KCR, as Rao is popularly known, announced increasing the gratuity at retirement for the employees from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. The government also decided to to reduce the age limit from 75 years to 70 years for 15 per cent additional quantum of pension to the retired government employees and teachers. The government has decided to extend family pension policy to the family members of the CPS (Contributory Pension Scheme) employees who died while on duty. The chief minister said the government employees, teachers who played an inspirational role in achieving Telangana state, are participating with same commitment in the development of own state and with their co-operation, the fruits of welfare and development are reaching the people successfully. "In view of inexhaustible relation the government is having with employees, Telangana government is acting as employee's friendly government. It respects the rights of all employees," he said. KCR recalled that after the formation of Telangana state, his government announced special increment by appreciating role played by employees in the movement. By revising the 10th pay scales in 2014 by announcing the highest hike of 43 per cent, Telangana government showed its admiration it has on employees of state. He said as the Covid-19 pandemic shattered the state economy leading to unexpected fiscal deficit, 11th pay revision was delayed. KCR said while revising the pay scales of government employees, the government kept in view the necessities and situations of other employees who are rendering their services at ground level and increased their pays scales with a humanitarian perspective. "This time also government by revising the pay scales of employees, teachers and pensioners, took a decision to increase the salaries of contract employees, outsourcing employees, Home Guards, Anganwadis, Asha Workers, SERP Employees, Vidya Volunteers, KGBV, Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan employees, VRAs, VAOs, Grant in Aid, Work charged, daily wage and other employees i.e., totalling about 9,17,797 employees who are working as part of Government machinery," he said. Stating that 80 per cent of promotion process of employees is completed, he said the government will immediately start the promotion process of remaining eligible employees along with eligible teachers. Government will shortly start the process of filling of vacancies created by promotions. He also announced that the government has constituted a steering committee with employees associations, government officials as stake holders for evolving the new modalities of Employees Health Scheme (EHS) as per the PRC committee recommendations. He said the government will give permission to the Andhra Pradesh teachers who are working in the Telangana to return to their home state. The government has decided to provide 180 days maternity leave along with wages to the KGBV Women Staff.

Telangana announces 30% salary hike for 9.17 lakh employees under 11th Pay Revision Commission

<ul><li>An increase in the health and family welfare budget by at least 50% at the state and central level is imperative.</li><li>We currently have only one Auxiliary Nurse Midwife for a population of 5,000 or five villages.</li><li>India urgently needs a robust public health management cadre on the lines of IAS and IPS etc.</li></ul>The dwindling number of COVID-19 cases per day is, undoubtedly, excellent news for India. Plus, the vaccination drive is on, which will aid in building herd immunity and protecting the most vulnerable. If we can expand the vaccination drive rapidly, there will be no chance of a second wave in India and COVID-19 will be finished by summer. The question now is what can we learn from the pandemic and how can we consolidate these public health gains via this year's budget. An increase in the health and family welfare budget by at least 50% at the state and central level is imperative. Our aim should be to reach 3% of GDP for health from the current 1.2% or so in the next five years. Most of this money should strengthen primary care at the village level and improve public health services. As a public health expert, here’s my wishlist for the <keyword id="8420431" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="budget-2021">budget 2021</keyword>. <div type="image" title="Quote002 (1)" msid="80551267" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Dr.Dileep Mavalankar&amp;#39;s wishlist for the budget 2021&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> 1. Government's commitment to one qualified primary care nurse per village Currently, we have one Auxiliary Nurse Midwife for a population of 5,000 or five villages. We have recently added a Community Health Officer (CHO) at this level who is a nurse Ayurveda doctor trained for a further six months. India is producing enough nurses to staff all of its villages with at least one nurse. Appointing one nurse per village will ensure around the clock presence of a primary healthcare provider in each village. For context, China did this in the 1970s, Bangladesh in the 1980s and Nepal also has a similar provision. An ASHA worker per village is not enough – she is a partly-paid volunteer. We desperately need preventive and curative care professionals at the village level. The cost will be around ₹25,000 per nurse per month in 500,000 villages which come to ₹15,000 crore annually. The implementation can be phased, and the state and central govt can share the cost. But it is an essential move so that villagers can receive services of vital healthcare at their doorstep. 2. Strengthen primary care centres (PHC) and urban health centres with public health officers' appointment Currently, we have medical officers with MBBS degrees for primary care centres. However, there are many places where MBBS doctors are not available, and the posts lay vacant. More than half of the work of PHCs is to manage public health programs such as immunization, maternal and child health, environmental sanitation, malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases, surveillance and monitoring of diseases and epidemics etc. For such public health program management, a clinical doctor is not essential or desirable. A public health officer with a Master of Public Health degree is sufficient. So the suggestion is to have a post of public health officers at each PHC besides a medical officer. For the whole of India, we will need 30,000 such public health officers. At an average salary of ₹55,000 per month, this will cost the government about ₹1980 crore. The benefits will be immense. All national public health programs will be managed better – with better quality, coverage and outcomes. Moreover, the MBBS medical officer can fully devote his or her time to clinical medical services to providing good quality clinical care that is currently unavailable since they spend more than half of their time in public health programs. This will also boost the medical officers' morale as they are not trained to do public health work that they have to do in a PHC. 3. Instituting a public health management central services cadre To plan, organize and monitor our public health actions, including for diseases like COVID-19, India urgently needs a robust public health management cadre on the lines of IAS, IPS, IFS and other central services. Each district should have five to seven such centrally selected public health cadre post officers with similar posts at state and national level. They should have pay and other facilities in lines with other central services. Currently, the district, taluka and city-level public health posts are filled variably by medical doctors, specialists and some non-doctors due to unclear recruitment and promotions rules in various public health departments of states and cities. Even at the national level, there are very few public health officers. The entire pandemic was managed by generalist administrators and specialist medical doctors without much input from public health experts and infectious diseases or epidemiology experts. For a national public health cadre, India will need a minimum of five officers per district, which will come to 3,695 officers for district level. We need to add about 1000 officers at the state and city level, and the total will come to 4,695 officers. At an average salary of ₹1,50,000 per month, such cadre at the national level will cost about ₹845 crore per year. Such cadre will improve public health management at ground level in each district and city. 4. Strengthen public health institutes that are not AIIMS The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is not a public health institute; it is a medical care apex institute, and their advice on how to care for coronavirus patients may be the best. However, we rarely heard the voices from experts from All Indian Institute of Hygiene and Public health (AIIHPH) or National Center for Communicable diseases (NCDC), or an additional director general of public health in India or any of the states during the pandemic. We also hear from cardiologists and pathologies from the private sector, but from very few public health experts. There is no doubt that IAS officers are essential for inter-sectoral administrative actions on a large scale, which are needed during major catastrophes. But the technical strategies for controlling an epidemic is the job of epidemiologists and public health officers. We hope that through this budget the government will plan to improve our institutions dedicated to public health like NCDC, AIIHPH, Indian Institutes of Public Health and other schools of public health and public health divisions in the ministry of health. A provision of ₹2000 crore to strengthen public health institutions and division in the country should be made in the budget. If implemented in this budget, these suggestions will go a long way to strengthen our medical care and public health system in the country. This will reduce the possibility of future pandemics and increase our ability to deal with it in a better manner. Due to the pandemic, the economic and social loss should make the policymakers willing to invest in public health in this and subsequent budgets. *The author is the Director of Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar. A public health expert shares a ₹20,000 crore plan to improve India’s health infrastructure including a dedicated cadre

<ul><li>In our latest episode of BTS with Insiders, <keyword id="6375200" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PIYUSH-PANDEY">Piyush Pandey</keyword>, Chief Creative Officer Worldwide, Ogilvy, talks about four actors, <keyword id="16207" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Irrfan-Khan">Irrfan Khan</keyword>, Pushpa Joshi, <keyword id="2717040" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Atmaram-Bhende">Atmaram Bhende</keyword> and <keyword id="2026942" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asha-Bhende">Asha Bhende</keyword>, would are no longer with us but who created magic in some campaigns created by the ad guru.</li><li>Pandey shares some stories from each of the three ads, while also making an appeal to younger creative professionals to be open to identifying new actors.</li></ul>Last week we collectively grieved the loss of two stalwarts who made a huge impact on Indian cinema, Irrfan Khan and <keyword id="6357910" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rishi-Kapoor">Rishi Kapoor</keyword>. When I reached out to Piyush Pandey, Chief Creative Officer Worldwide, Ogilvy, for our weekly chat show, BTS with Insiders, we initially wanted to talk about three ads that he had worked on over the course of his career that he held close to his heart. However, considering how the week had panned out, Pandey was mourning the loss of the two actors too, and it only seemed fitting that we speak about some of the gems he had created over the years, not just with Khan but also with a few other actors. Episode 3 of BTS with Insiders saw us talking to Pandey about Irrfan Khan, who was the face of Hutch and acted in around 18 ads for the brand, Pushpa Joshi, who took the nation by storm just by a few seconds of her presence as a kabaadiwaali in Fevikwik’s recent ad, and actors Atmaram Bhende and his wife, Asha Bhende who were a part of SBI Life’s campaign, close to 10 years back. Each of the four actors had something in them that took the stories Pandey wanted to tell, and turned them into unforgettable gems. Irrfan Khan - Hutch When Ogilvy wanted to create a series of ads talking about Hutch’s new recharge packs, and the agency wanted the ad to speak the language of the common man, simply to make it more relatable, and to drive its simple point across, that Hutch will give you the most value for your money. Ever since the passing away of Khan, people across the country, in their numerous tributes to the actor have mentioned about his portrayals being relatable. He made us feel that he was one of us. It was perhaps this quality that made V Mahesh and Rajiv Rao, along with the Hutch team decided to cast Khan in the ads. “Irrfan was not a masses man only through his cinema. He was a fantastic symbol of a common man, and an amazing actor. Rajiv and Mahesh, along with Shashanka Chaturvedi (aka Bob) of Good Morning Films who directed the films thought of Irrfan,” shared Pandey. The brand and agency had initially thought of coming up with 3 films. “We ended up doing 18 eventually,” shared Pandey with a laugh. “Everybody loved him because he was so credible and amazing,” he added. What made the ads memorable was the fact that they were written the way a common man speaks. “And while I was not present at the shoot, I am pretty certain that Irrfan would have added his bits to it. You cannot work with a big actor without using his abilities beyond acting because they come up with the little things that add magic. And magic is exactly what he created. Today, when he is a lot more popular, one could have done a lot more with him but in those days, he was not known to billions of people because that wasn’t exactly his kind of cinema. And yet, he walked in and stole the show, every single time,” said Pandey. He also shared that he kept making plans with Irrfan to meet up in Jaipur, which is where both of them grew up, but it never really materialized. “We made a whole lot of plans to fly kites together in Jaipur but unfortunately the opportunity never came, and he flew away from our midst,” said Pandey. Pushpa Joshi - Fevikwik Pandey has been weaving magic for one of Ogilvy’s oldest clients Pidilite for years now. Who can forget some of the old gems created for brands like Fevicol and Fevikwik. Bharat Puri. Managing Director at <keyword id="260169" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pidilite-Industries">Pidilite Industries</keyword> often says that Ogilvy isn’t really a creative partner for them, rather they almost are the owners of the brand. It is perhaps this confidence in Pandey and his team that made Pidilite agree to casting octogenarian Pushpa Joshi, who played the role of a kabaadiwaali, in Fevikwik’s recent adorable campaign and wooed the entire nation with her endearing charm. It was Pandey’s brother <keyword id="1397913" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prasoon-Pandey">Prasoon Pandey</keyword>, who thought of casting Joshi in the ad. “Pushpaji was cast in the ad with a bit of difficulty, with due apologies to my young clients at Pidilite. They were apprehensive because how you can get somebody so old to act? And my brother Prasoon Pandey who directed the ad said, ‘There’s no retirement age for a kabadiwali’. When she came to the set though, Prasoon himself was a little worried because she arrived in a wheelchair. But soon she just picked up and gave us the performance of a lifetime. The ad took the nation by storm just because of what she did and what the director did with her,” shared Pandey. While Pushpa Ji, as everybody lovingly called her, won everyone’s hearts just by coming on the screen for a few seconds, Pandey rued the fact that they had not discovered her earlier. “I don’t recall seeing Pushpa Ji in any other ad. Maybe we weren’t really good at sourcing her. We didn’t find her earlier enough but when we did, she left us with the impression of a lifetime. For our younger audience, there’s a lesson here. It’s never too late to start. If you have a talent, just go out and play. You never know, you might find that the years were never lost and that you can make up for them in one shot,” added Pandey. Atmaram and Asha Bhende - <keyword id="194127" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI-Life-Insurance">SBI Life Insurance</keyword> Atmaram Bhende was a well-known face in Marathi movies and theatre. However, people in the rest of the country discovered this veteran actor in Lage Raho Munna Bhai as one of the many adorable people staying at the old age home that the entire movie revolved around. Atmaram Ji along with his wife, Asha Bhende, had been a part of SBI Life Insurance’s campaign, ‘Heere Ko Kya Pata’ close to 10 years back. This simple, slice of life conversation between an elderly couple was brought to life by these two effortless actors. What also makes this campaign doubly special is the fact that it is based on a conversation Pandey had with his mother. “The story of this ad is inspired by a conversation I had with my mother. She wanted to own a diamond but never asked us for it. She had a lot of self-respect. One day our sisters told us about her secret wish to us but we weren’t very affluent at that point of time. So we went and bought a pair of earrings for her. Prasoon paid for one and I paid for the other. When we gave it to her, she had said, ‘Iss umr me kahan pehenungi main heera? (Where will I wear a diamond at this age?). That stayed with me and when I created the ad, I added the line, ‘Heere ko kya pata tumhari umr, (The diamond doesn’t really know your age), at the time of writing the film. When we were casting, my brother said that nobody can perform this better than Atmaram Ji and Asha Ji,” he reminisced. Before ending the conversation, Pandey also made an appeal to the advertising industry, asking them to give new talent a chance. “Our younger audience and professionals in the industry should never forget that there are some fantastic actors around who have the capability to make your script ten times as good from where you wrote it. And as I pay my tribute to all these four fantastic artists for giving our industry a touch of their magic, I would ask the younger generation to identify such actors, use them well and give them the opportunity. So look for more of such people and make our industry look better by using these stalwarts,” he concluded.

"This pandemic will affect every industry to an extent. But I feel that once this is over, the entertainment industry will bounce back strongly. Don't forget that we love entertainment and after being in our homes for many weeks, there may be a tendency to go out to the cinemas, attend music concerts."Humans are social animal and we have survived many calamities in the past. We shall do so again," Asha told Bhasha in an interview.Coronavirus, which originated in central China in December, is believed to have infected more than 2.3 million people worldwide. While most recover, at least 155,000 have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.In India, death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 507 and number of cases have climbed to 15,712.The singer said in her lifetime she has witnessed several epidemics like TB , cholera, smallpox, plague, SARS, MERS and the current situation across the world has revived those painful memories."I am 86 and have seen many epidemics. We did not have a cure for them or there just weren't enough medical facilities. We survived by homemade remedies. Plague used to wipe out entire villages. I remember my parents evacuating us from affected parts of the country and moving us to safer zones. It was social distancing at that time too."She said while there were no fancy words like "social distancing" and "lockdown" during those times, it was the same principle which saved them."I have also seen several wars including World War II. There was food rationing and the situation was bad but we adapted and survived those days too. This pandemic is bad because the entire world has been affected," the singer added. Asha believes the only way to win the fight against the deadly virus is to follow the guidelines set by the health experts and the government."This virus is different and more deadly and it requires precautions like self- isolation, social distancing and cleanliness. I am happy with the way Indian government is dealing with the crisis. Considering the population and domestic mobility, it would have been worst," she said.The music icon also lauded celebrities for creating awareness about coronavirus and believes their efforts are giving fruitful results."People look up to celebrities and it is our duty towards them and our country. Almost all celebrities have attempted to spread awareness about the virus and I believe this has helped a lot in making people aware and follow the guidelines."Asha was also part of Sangeet Setu, a series of virtual concerts to support PM-Cares relief fund set up to fight COVID -19. She said it was a unique experience to perform without any technical support."Sangeet Setu was unique initiative because performances came from the heart. Without studio facilities or professional recording equipment, without musicians, sound engineers. I recorded my performances on a phone and uploaded it," she said.The singer, who has been in the industry for over six decades, has also recorded for another initiative to bring people of the country together in these times of crisis."It is to bring together the people of India in this time of need and bring about our sense of pride and nationalism in this great ancient country of ours. As per PM-Cares fund directives I also recorded an appeal for people to donate generously to the fund."With all her recordings and concerts being cancelled, Asha said she is happy to spend time with her family during the lockdown."All my recordings and concerts have been cancelled but I don't dwell on what has been lost. <ul><li>The Indian government will honour melody queen <keyword id="31278" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lata-Mangeshkar">Lata Mangeshkar</keyword> with ‘Daughter Of The Nation’ award on her birthday on 28 September. </li><li>Her song ‘aye mere watan ke logon’ dedicated to the martyrs of the Sino-Indian war moved the then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru to tears. </li><li>She was awarded with the status of most recorded artist in the history of Indian music in Guinness Record in 1974. </li><li>Lata Mangeshkar was also honoured with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in 2001.</li></ul>The Indian government is celebrating melody queen Lata Mangeshkar’s 90th birthday by bestowing a special honour — ‘Daughter Of The Nation’. Her birthday celebration will include the <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/hindi/music/news/lata-mangeshkars-birthday-to-be-celebrated-with-a-special-event/articleshow/71275034.cms">launch</a> of the book ‘Lata’ and a day-long session of 91 Hindi-Marathi songs. She also sang the patriotic song ‘Ae mere watan ke logon’ in 1963 during the Indo-China war, which moved India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to tears. Miracle of God The Indore-born singer hails from a family of musicians and artists, has no plans of slowing down. She has been singing for the last seven decades and famously claimed to sing until her last breath. Popularly known as didi or sister, Mangeshkar kicked off her music career with a Marathi song ‘NaachuYaa Gade, Khelu Saari Mani Haus Bhaari’ at the age of 13, five years before independence. Soon, her mellifluous voice mixed with talent brought her immense popularity also for being the singer who is “never off-key”. Famous actor Dilip Kumar once said that Latha’s voice is as spectacular as a God’s miracle. Her work spans across historic films like Mughal-E-Azam to popular hits like Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jaayenge, singing playback for actors from Madhubala to Kajal. She has been awarded with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in 2001. Her other achievements include <keyword id="100507" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Padma-Bhushan">Padma Bhushan</keyword>, <keyword id="15575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Padma-Vibhushan">Padma Vibhushan</keyword>, and <keyword id="54010" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dadasaheb-Phalke-award">Dadasaheb Phalke Award</keyword>. Social media controversy The singer who resides at Peddar Road in Mumbai, has also been a part of her share of controversies. She was heavily trolled for her comments on the video of Ranu Mondal — a poor lady who sang on a railway platform to earn her living, saying she should be “original.” Lata who was known as a good luck for many decades in the industry, also shares a turbulent relationship with her equally famous sister, <keyword id="6441118" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asha-Bhosle">Asha Bhosle</keyword>, who is also a prolific singer. For one, Bhosle broker Lata’s Guinness record as most recorded artist in the history of Indian music, which she held since 1974. In 2011, Bhosle took over the mantle. The rift first started when Asha married Ganpatrao Bhosle, a man 15 years older to her. Lata once claimed that Bhosle stopped the two sisters from meeting. However, the marriage ended in a divorce but Lata and Asha’s relationship remained strained. During Asha’s struggling times in the industry, Lata also disapproved of Asha’s relationship with music director O P Nayyar. So much so that Lata stopped singing for Nayyar altogether. Movie producer Singing is her first love, but Lata has many other talents too. She had composed music for Marathi movies but was too conscious of giving her name to it, and chose to keep it under wraps, under a pseudonym. But the secret came out when the movies she composed for won an award for Best Music, requiring her to receive the recognition on stage. She told the story in a book called ‘Lata in her own voice’, adding that she was too busy recording that she could not focus on composing. She had also produced three Hindi films and a Marathi film. Lata who has never married, likes to read Hindi writer Maithili Sharan Gupt in her free time.
