<ul><li><keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> was called the giant killer as it dethroned the late Sheila Dikshit of Congress — the chief minister of Delhi for three consecutive terms then.</li><li>Six years later, the muffler-wearing Arvind Kejriwal is ready to face the people’s verdict on his administration so far.</li><li>AAP may win a comfortable majority of 59 seats of the total 70 in the Delhi assembly elections. </li><li>A win in the upcoming Delhi elections of 2019 will raise his stature in India’s national politics. </li></ul>When Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the office of the Chief Minister after the 49-day stint in 2013, the first thing he did was to walk up to his party office ⁠— in full media glare and commotion from his supporters ⁠— opened a creaky, old window on the first storey and blamed both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress for colluding with none other than India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, the billionaire Chairman of Reliance Industries. The imagery that Kejriwal relied on was starkly reminiscent of an iconic scene from a movie, Hey Ram, based on the life and times of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

 In one stroke, Kejriwal had put Mukesh Ambani, the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and the Congress leadership under Sonia Gandhi in <a href="https://aamaadmiparty.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/arvind-kejriwals-letter-to-mukesh-ambani/">one bucket</a> and portrayed himself as ‘holier’ than all of them. It possibly struck a chord with the angry voters who were disillusioned by a system that had failed them inordinately. His continued onslaught on Ambani was <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/sue-me-not-tv-channels-arvind-kejriwal-to-mukesh-ambani/articleshow/18173553.cms">followed by defamation suits against media </a>houses that gave Kejriwal airtime. However, Kejriwal’s persistence, which was later called <a href="https://www.firstpost.com/politics/arvind-kejriwals-madness-just-persecution-complex-or-is-there-method-to-it-2920550.html">persecution complex from some quarte</a>rs, did give him a thumping victory in the Delhi assembly election that followed in 2015, when AAP won a whopping 67 of the 70 seats.

It is a known fact that our country is governed by politicians who are comedians in disguise. From making every Indian laugh at their utterly false promises to disrupting the Parliament day after day and being involved in scams of massive proportions, our politicians are guilty of indulging in them all. 
 
While they might not excel at what they’ve been elected to do (no surprises there), we can’t help but admit that our politicians do have some hidden talents. Unfortunately, they are unable to hone these talents due to the immense burden of governing a country on their shoulders. (also alternatively known as the burden of enforcing a ban on everything we’ve ever loved and cared for) 
 
To make things easier for our beloved politicians in case they ever decide to take a leap from the world of politics, also known as the world of looting the taxpayer’s money, Business Insider draws up a list of alternate career suggestions for eight ministers depending on what their skill sets are. 
 
 
 
1. <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>

During his tenure as PM, Modi has visited more countries than the number of successful sessions the Parliament has witnessed, and if that’s not a big achievement, I don’t know what is. In his is future travel blog titled ‘How to take selfies while traveling around the world in 80 days,’ Modi could write about his experiences in every country he’s visited till date, while the readers could rate the selfie accompanying the post. The HRD Minister has received a lot of flak for her allegedly forged educational qualifications. While we’ll keep mum on whether the allegations against her or true or not, we'll go ahead and say that if there comes a time when she’s bored of making Sanskrit compulsory in Kendriya Vidyalayas mid-session, she could always try her hand at becoming a Dean in a University. But, is she qualified enough for the role? Guess we'll never know.

The President of Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah is best known for his event management skills. Eight politicians who should give these alternate careers a serious thought

If most of you are asking why, then the next question alone will answer all your doubts. How many people today are actually talking/discussing/debating the major rift in the <keyword id="6354944" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Aam-Aadmi-Party">Aam Aadmi Party</keyword> and Kejriwal’s so-called Hitler-like attitude in ousting two stalwarts of the party, <keyword id="342262" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Yogendra-Yadav">Yogendra Yadav</keyword> and <keyword id="6368850" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prashant-Bhushan">Prashant Bhushan</keyword>? Exactly, none! This point alone was disrupting everything that <keyword id="6356115" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword> was trying to achieve politically and within the delhi government. 
 Now think about this. What was Kejriwal’s rationale of holding a <keyword id="48857" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Farmer">farmer</keyword> rally to protest the Land Acquisition Bill on a day when Prashant Bhushan was tearing into the party’s ‘high moral’ standards and dissecting the very basis on which AAP stands? Even as Kejriwal was readying for a ‘farmer’ rally, sans its ‘face of the farmers’ Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan was dropping one scandalous bomb after another. 
 Sample this: Prashant Bhushan alleged that AAP leader <keyword id="1127624" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ashish-Khetan">Ashish Khetan</keyword> wrote ‘paid news’ in 2011 in favour of a company accused in the infamous 2G scam for Rs 2 cr. He alleged that Khetan was rewarded for his crony-capitalist behaviour by being appointed as the chairperson of the Delhi Dialogue Commission and a member of the NDC. Bhushan also accused AAP secretary and NDC member Pankaj Gupta of accepting ‘donation’ worth Rs 2 cr from shell companies without the required approval of the PAC. 
 Then there are allegations by Gajendra Singh’s brother yesterday that the farmer went to the rally only after speaking to <keyword id="6356176" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="deputy-chief-minister">deputy chief minister</keyword> Manish Sisodia. Vijendra Singh, Gajendra’s brother spoke to the media, post Gajendra’s last rites and said, “Gajendra had gone to meet Manish Sisodia after they won the elections. Even yesterday, when I spoke to him, he said that he is going to a rally. Manish Sisodia knew him. Manish Sisodia has called him for the rally.” He even went onto say that thought they have suffered crop damages this year due to untimely rains, it wasn't bad enough for his brother to have taken his own life. Gajendra's sister in a different interview told channels and showed the difference in Gajendra's 'actual' handwriting and the one that appeared on the 'suicide note' that Gajendra apparently had written. 
 So, even as allegations flow thick and fast, could this just be a propaganda push gone wrong, a tragic incident or a deliberate, nevertheless extremely shocking stunt planned to take the attention off AAP’s internal ‘mess’? This, even as Kejriwal gave ‘soundbytes’ to most television channels this morning apologising and saying ‘sorry’ for the thousandth time for a political miss-step that he so often seems to have committed. He said, “I admit it was a mistake continuing with the rally and my speech even as Gajendra committed suicide.” Really Mr Kejriwal! You mean to say this realization dawned on you a full three days after the incident, while you ignited fire upon fire against the central government and the <keyword id="6358992" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Delhi-Police">Delhi Police</keyword>, showcasing their inept attitude towards a <keyword id="166238" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="poor-farmer">poor farmer</keyword> who was trying to commit suicide in the full glare of several thousand people, which included you! 
 Well played indeed, because two things have happened in the political sphere as a result of Kejriwal’s actions. One, <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> and his government for the time being will have to put its ambitious land bill in the back burner (though it doesn’t make the slightest difference to AAP and its political mantras, and I am not even getting into the debate of whether the land bill is pro or against farmers). Modi, in fact has already sought suggestions from all political parties to better the ‘farmer’s lives’. Second, the entire nation’s media and its citizens are now focusing their energies away from ‘AAP’s internal ‘dramatics’ and actually getting down to discussing the serious issues of the plight of the farmers and their future in a nation where they form over 67% of the population. 
 
However, what Kejriwal will need to do now is think very seriously over how many times he can ‘use’ the ‘sorry tactic’ to score a political point to his advantage. Because, Mr Kejriwal, it is this very public that you have been enticing with the shortcomings of the other governments that will turn around and ask you about where you fell short. Because if the public is ‘accepting’, it is also very ‘unforgiving’ if you take it for a ride! Now, you of all people would surely understand that very well, won’t you?

The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=odd+even+rule&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Odd-Even Part II</a> is reaping benefits for Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) as it clocked the highest CNG sale of 26.7 lakh kg a day this week. 
This means more vehicles are gearing to CNG as CNG-fitted vehicles are exempted from the odd-even rule. 
 
The demand is so high that IGL is setting up one CNG dispensing station every two days, creating a world record. 
 
"We had an average compressed natural gas (CNG) sale of 23.5-24 lakh kg per day in 2015-16. On Monday, which was the first full working day of the odd-even restricted plying rule, we saw sale volumes jump to 26.7 lakh," said IGL Managing Director Narendra Kumar. 
 
"This is the highest ever sale we have ever achieved," he said. "In 2015-16 we had a growth of 3-4 per cent in CNG consumption. This year (April 2016 to March 2017), we expect a growth rate of 8-10 per cent." 
 
Previously peak sale volume was 26.4 lakh kg per day.

Delhi has the highest number of CNG stations in the world and no city has ever expanded its network by more than 30 stations in a year. 
 
IGL, the sole supplier of CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in the national capital region, is the country's largest CNG retailer. 
 
"What is working in favour of CNG is also price cuts following global slump in energy prices. Rates were last cut by Rs 0.60 per kg and to Rs 36.60 per kg in Delhi on April 1," he said.

The party pointed out that the news of the party’s launch was the sixth highest trending topic on the platform.

]]></cdata></div> The Bahujan Azad Party is composed mainly of 50 <keyword id="6354859" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIt">IIT</keyword> alumni, all of whom reportedly quit their jobs to join the party. It will be led by Naveen Kumar, who graduated from IIT Delhi in 2005. The party has already applied to the Election Commission of India for approval, and expects to hear back in a fortnight. Bahujan Azad Party The group’s Twitter bio reads, “A political party for the the upliftment for SCs, STs, OBCs, women and Minorities”. Most of the members of the party are from these minority groups, having benefited from the<a href="http://jeeadv15.iitb.ac.in/info/reservation-of-seats"> reservation</a> policy for SCs (15%), STs (7.5%) and OBCs (27%) at IITs. The party’s primary focus is on increasing education and employment opportunities for these groups, not only in terms of <keyword id="85023" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="reservations">reservations</keyword> but also by improving the infrastructure for education and skill development. The title of the Bahujan Azad Party translates to “freedom for the majority of people”. This is not ironic. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes comprise more than 70% of India’s population, with OBCs alone accounting for over 40%, according to <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/obcs-account-for-41-of-indian-population-nss/articleshow/1835801.cms">estimates from a decade ago</a> by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO). Interestingly, while the quotas of SCs and STs are in line with the proportion of India’s population they represent, the same privilege is not afforded to <keyword id="45661" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="OBC">OBC</keyword>s, who usually get a maximum quota of 27%. This unleashes its own set of problems, as relatively well off OBC groups like Yadavs are vying with weaker OBCs for a disproportionate amount of seats and faring better. In order to rectify this, India’s President, Ram Nath Kovind, established <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Politics/yDIIUPM7CA3teguI0hiHXJ/NDA-govt-appoints-Mandal-20-to-redistribute-OBC-quota-bene.html">a commission in late 2017</a> that was tasked with levelling the playing field for different OBC groups. The announcement of the Bahujan Azad Party’s launch is timely for another reason. The last few weeks have seen a spate of protests in India by Dalit groups and activists over the Supreme Court’s proposal to safeguard suspected perpetrators from immediate detainment under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The protesters feel that this could encourage crimes against minorities, going against the very purpose of the act itself. The party is starting small. It is limiting itself to Bihar for the medium term, where it will contest the state’s legislative assembly elections in 2020 before moving on to Lok Sabha polls in 2024. <a href="https://www.deccanchronicle.com/decaf/230418/nation-building-youth-revolution-in-the-making.html">West Bengal and Rajasthan </a>have also been mooted as possible states to expand into after the party solidifies its position in Bihar. Why the party was formed Speaking to the Press Trust of India, Naveen Kumar explained that he and his associates took part in Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption protests in 2011 and initially supported the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). However, they decided to form their own party after being “disillusioned” by the lack of minority representation in educational institutions and the judiciary. In what seemed a thinly-veiled reference to the AAP, Kumar tried to highlight how the party’s strategy was different from other upstarts. “We do not wish to do a hurried job and end up being reduced to just one of those small political outfits with big ambitions”. He also said that the party did not plan on positioning itself as a rival of any other political party or ideology. As a fledgling party promoting a single agenda, the Bahujan Azad Party would do well to learn from the mistakes of the AAP. The AAP, which counts former IIT Kharagpur alumnus Arvind Kejriwal as its leader, rose to prominence as an anti-corruption, citizen-first party bent on shaking up the status quo of Indian politics. After winning the Delhi state election in a landslide in February 2015, the party has been unable to make good on its initial promise, faltering in elections in Punjab and Gujarat, falling prey to infighting and cronyism and being stymied at every turn in Delhi by the BJP’s central government. Additionally, the party’s commitment to transparency was called into question in May last year, when Kejriwal was accused of <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Politics/Oa7zGjMC8rsCMc6i25HLcN/Kapil-Mishra-accuses-Delhi-CM-Arvind-Kejriwal-of-taking-brib.html">accepting a bribe from his health minister. </a> Cautionary tale The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), led by Mayawati, also stands out as cautionary tale, given its core focus on Dalit and minority rights. The party was started by Kanshi Ram, a prominent Dalit rights activist, in 1984 to represent the rights of SCs, STs and OBCs. After helming three coalition governments in UP, Ram’s protege Mayawati drove the party to a significant majority in the 2007 state elections by wooing upper caste groups like Brahmins, much to the chagrin of its core Dalit support base. The BSP lost the state elections in 2012 and failed to win even a single UP seat in the general elections in 2014 as upper caste voters migrated to the BJP. The Bahujan Azad Party should keep its political ambitions in line with its founding goals and maintain its focus on its target base. In order to achieve its mandate effectively, it also needs to be more than a social movement agitating for reservations. Higher reservations don’t guarantee long-term change. As <a href="http://mospi.nic.in/sites/default/files/publication_reports/nss_rep_563_13mar15.pdf">data from the NSSO</a> shows, while higher reservations in educational and government institutions have translated into higher employment rates for minority groups, these are mostly for low-skilled occupations. Reservations need to be supported by adequate vocational training programmes and structural improvements in the quality of educational institutions. The party’s members have their work cut out for themselves over the next few months. They will leverage their IIT credentials to drum up financial support. They are employing a grassroots approach by onboarding members and supporters from youth hostels in Bihar and striking partnerships with social activists. It will be interesting to see how they fare.

India now has a minority rights party composed of 50 IIT alumni who quit their jobs

The <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword> government is running COVID-19 inoculation camps at high-footfall locations of the city such as metro stations, markets, malls and areas near wine shops to widen the vaccination coverage, officials said on Monday. The national capital has been witnessing an upward trend in coronavirus cases for the past few days and doctors have been emphasising that those still unvaccinated should get the shots. Among other measures, the number of <keyword id="3132992" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="aam-aadmi-mohalla-clinics" source="Orion">Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics</keyword> running vaccination centres have been raised from about 60 in early July to over 140 now, officials said. <keyword id="8764262" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="covid" source="Orion">Covid</keyword> cases in Delhi have registered a rise in the last few days. For three consecutive days till Sunday, the city logged over 700 cases daily with the positivity rate climbing to 5.57 per cent on July 24, according to official data. On June 1, the city had logged 623 Covid cases while the number of infections registered on May 30 was 946. Delhi health department officials said the government aims to maximise vaccination coverage. Several steps have been taken to boost the number of vaccinated people as inoculation is a key step in combating the pandemic, which is far from over, they said. "We aim to maximise vaccination coverage and we have been initiating many outreach programmes, including door-to-door surveys, to achieve it. "Besides, we have had instructions from the chief secretary to target high-footfall areas in the city. We have chosen malls, markets, metro stations, 'Kanwar' camps and even near wine shops where people gather in large numbers," the senior official told PTI. Vaccination camps are being set up in these identified areas. In residential areas, camps are held for a day or so in association with RWAs depending on the size of the unvaccinated cohort in the area, officials said. "We set up our camps on the premises of identified metro stations, near the entry and exit points, and also in other high-footfall areas like malls and markets. We want maximum vaccination coverage and if a section of people is not coming to immunisation centres, we will go to them," the senior official said. Experts have been reiterating that people eligible for COVID-19 vaccination should get their jabs without delay. Doctors have pointed out that despite three waves of the pandemic and a rise in cases again lately, many people are still hesitant and have not even got their first dose. On Sunday, Delhi logged 729 Covid cases and two fatalities, according to data shared by the <keyword id="11908381" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="city-health-department" source="Orion">city health department</keyword>. According to the Sunday bulletin, the total number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the city was 3,56,02,514 while the number of precaution jabs given was 20,39,022. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on July 17 appealed to Delhiites to get the COVID-19 precaution doses, saying only around 10 per cent of people in the city have done so. He also appealed to parents to get their children in the 12-17 age group vaccinated with the second jab. Asked about the several Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics being also used as Covid vaccination centres, officials said multiple factors come into play when deciding which sites would be chosen. "It depends on the size of the unvaccinated cohort in the area, the response of people to short-duration camps run once or twice a week and the proximity to the nearest Covid vaccination centres. The district immunisation officer decides it based on these factors and the final call is made by the higher authorities," the senior official said. The national capital currently has about 520 mohalla clinics that offer free primary health care services and 212 types of tests to patients. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 last year with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase. Vaccination of frontline workers started on February 2 last year. The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination commenced on March 1 last year for people over 60 years of age and those aged 45 and above with specified comorbid conditions. Vaccination for all people aged above 45 years began on April 1 last year. The government then decided to expand the ambit of the vaccination drive by allowing everyone above 18 years to be inoculated against Covid from May 1 last year. From malls to metros, Delhi govt running vaccination camps in high-footfall areas to widen coverage

Markets were on an uptrend last week and the long awaited and overdue lifetime high on BSESENSEX was finally achieved. BSESENSEX gained 374.71 points or 0.72 per cent to close at 52,474.76 points while NIFTY gained 129.10 points or 0.82 per cent to close at 15,799.35 points. The broader indices saw BSE100, BSE200 and BSE500 gain 0.93 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 1.30 per cent, respectively. BSEMIDCAP gained 1.85 per cent while BSESMALLCAP fared much better gaining 3.52 per cent. The action is certainly in the midcap and smallcap space and is borne out by the number of stocks hitting 52 weeks high on a daily basis. The India Rupee lost 7 paisa and was down 0.10 per cent to close at Rs 73.07 to the US Dollar. Dow Jones began the week with losses for the first three days and managed to recover partially, gaining on the remaining two days but closed with losses of 276.79 points or 0.80 per cent to close at 34,479.60 points. Dow Jones is looking tired after a spectacular rally and one should not get surprised if one sees the same correcting in the coming days ahead. BSESENSEX finally managed to hit a lifetime high and did so on Friday touching 52,641.53 points. This crossed the previous high made on February 16 of 52,516.76 points. Incidentally NIFTY had made a lifetime high on May 28 and it took a fortnight for the BSESENSEX to achieve the same, something which has not happened in a very long time. Trading in shares of DHFL has been suspended with effect from Monday June 14 on account of the resolution plan of the NCLT which has approved and ascribed no value to the shares of DHFL. While the step of suspension is appreciated, something of this nature should have been acted upon much earlier, as many proposals in NCLT have resolution plans where the listed shares have zero value. Once things become clear, such shares should be suspended from trading on the bourses and small investors hard earned money should be preserved. Monsoon has advanced into Mumbai and Maharashtra and the onset was led by a sharp downpour this time. Coinciding with the monsoon arrival, one is also seeing a deluge of primary market issues with four companies tapping the markets in the week beginning June 14. There would be two issues opening on Monday and closing on Wednesday the 16th of June while the remaining two would open on Wednesday the June 16 and close on June 18. Difficult to understand why such a bunching of issues has happened other than the fact that there was a hiatus in primary issuances for the last 10 weeks or so during April-May to mid June. Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited is tapping the capital markets with its primary issue and offer for sale. The issue consists of a fresh issue of Rs 657 crs and an offer for sale of Rs 252 crs in a price band of Rs 303-306. The issue opens on Monday the 14th of June and closes on Wednesday the 16th of June. The company is a steel producer and has capacities to make pellets, sponge iron, billets, TMT Bars and ferro alloys. The total capacity is 5.71 million tons per annum with a saleable steel capacity of 3 mtpa. The same is being expanded over the next three to three and a half years to double at 11.6 mtpa and a saleable steel capacity of 6 mtpa. In this capacity the company would be adding ductile pipes and aluminium foil as well. The company enjoys healthy margins at the EBITDA and PAT levels as compared to its peers. The EBITDA margins for the year ended March 2020 were at 14.5 per cent while they were at 6.5 per cent at the PAT level. In the first nine months ended December 2020, the same EBITDA has improved to 18.2 per cent and PAT to 11.5 per cent. The total income of the company which was at Rs 4,400 crs for the year ended March 2020 have improved to Rs 4,000 crs in the nine months ended December 2020. The EPS for the year ended March 2020 is Rs 14.57. The same has increased significantly to Rs 19.53 for the nine months ended December 20. The price earnings multiple based on March 20 numbers is at Rs 20.80-21 times. The same PE multiple, based on nine months annualised numbers for the year ended March 2021 would be 11.63-11.75. The share is attractively priced and offers appreciation for flippers-, medium- and long-term players as well. The remaining three issues which would be covered during the course of the week are from Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited which has an issue size of Rs 5,550 crs. The next issue is from Dodla Dairy Limited which has an issue size of Rs 520 crs. The fourth and final issue is from Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Limited of Rs 2,144 crs. On the Covid-19 front the world saw 17,64,22,387 patients, 38,10,952 deaths and 16,03,96,300 patients recovering. In India we saw 2,94,39,989 patients, 3,70,407 deaths and 2,80,43,446 patients recovering. Compared to the previous week, the world saw 26,95,291 new patients, 74,543 deaths and 37,90,303 patients recovering. In India we saw 6,30,650 new patients, 23,623 deaths and 10,58,665 patients recovering. The number of deaths in India seems much higher than normal because many of the states have corrected their number of deaths for earlier periods. About 25 cr vaccinations have been done in the country so far and hopefully the pace of vaccination would continue to pick up going forward. Coming to the markets in the week ahead, the immediate objective of a lifetime high on the BSESENSEX has been achieved. In the past, one has experienced euphoria once such a feat is achieved. The same is missing this time around. Whether it will happen in the week ahead or will give a miss this time around is unclear. The strategy for investors would be to continue to buy on sharp dips and sell on rallies. Secondly ensure that the quality of stocks one invests in has fundamentals and are not those which consist of just momentum. Markets have not had a correction for a long time and whenever they begin could be long and deep in terms of time and value. Prepare for the same and be nimble footed in the marketplace.
