Mysuru-based sculptor <keyword id="20030326" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="arun-yogiraj" source="keywords">Arun Yogiraj</keyword>, who chiselled the '<keyword id="19904197" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ram-lalla" source="keywords">Ram Lalla</keyword>' idol consecrated in the newly constructed temple in Ayodhya, on Monday, says he considers himself the luckiest person on the earth and believes that its Lord Ram who chose him for the task. "I have always felt that Lord Ram has been shielding me and my family from all the bad times and I strongly believe that it is him, who chose me for the auspicious task," <keyword id="20289611" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="yogiraj" source="keywords">Yogiraj</keyword>, who has received effusive praise for his work, told PTI. A fifth-generation sculptor, he was among the invitees to the grand consecration ceremony here. "I spent sleepless nights working on the idol with precision but it was all worth it. I feel I am the luckiest person on the earth and today is the best day of my life," an excited "I learnt the art of sculpting from my father. He would have been very proud to see my idol here today," he said. While it was a proud moment for him to witness the historic event in person, his family back in Mysuru witnessed the ceremony live on TV. "He (Yogiraj) had many sleepless nights thinking and concentrated on making the Ram Lalla idol. There were days when we hardly spoke, and he hardly gave time to the family. All this is now compensated by this great news," his wife Vijeta had told PTI last week. "The stone was very hard, so hard that its pointed flake pricked into his eye and it was removed through an operation. Even during the pain he did not stop and continued with the work," she said. An MBA from the University of Mysore, Arun Yogiraj trained for six months in the HR Department of a private company. "But I listened to my inner voice and left the private sector job and returned to Mysuru to carry forward the family tradition," he said. Yogiraj had earlier sculpted the 12-foot-tall idol of Adi Shankaracharya, which has been placed in Kedarnath, and the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose which has been installed near India Gate in Delhi. The 21 feet tall Hanuman statue at Chunchanakatte in Mysore district, 15 feet tall statue of Dr B R Ambedkar, a white amritashila statue of <keyword id="20290912" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="swami-ramakrishna-paramahamsa" source="keywords">Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa</keyword> in Mysore, six feet tall monolithic statue of Nandi, six feet tall statue of Banashankari Devi and a 4.5 feet tall white Amrita Shila statue of the King of Mysore Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar are among the idols sculpted by him. According to a UGC-emeritus professor at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Mysore, the idol carved by Yogiraj, which is now gracing the sanctum sanctorum of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, has been sculpted from a three-billion-year-old rock. "Based on extensive geological, petrological, and geochronological studies carried out by the Department of Earth Science, for more than three decades, it has been found that the rock used to carve the idol of <keyword id="20290913" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sri-ram-lalla" source="keywords">Sri Ram Lalla</keyword> is the oldest rock from South India," he said. The azure-coloured Krishna Shile (black schist) was excavated from Gujjegowdanapura at Jayapura Hobli in H.D. Kote Taluk. It is a fine to medium-grained, sky-blue-coloured metamorphic rock and this type is generally called soapstone because of its smooth surface texture and is an ideal rock for sculptors to carve idols "Krishna Shile" was found while levelling the agricultural land of Ramdas (78) and a local contractor who assessed the quality of the stone drew the attention of the temple trustees at Ayodhya through his contacts. On assessment, it was found to be of superior quality and was selected for sculpting the idol of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya. Ramadas has now announced he will donate four 'guntas' of his land for the construction of a Ram temple at the site from where the stone was mined. Meanwhile, special rituals for temple foundation laying were performed on Monday at the same spot where the black stone for the Ayodhya idol was found. The rituals were performed at 6.30 am and were attended by Chamundeshwari MLA GT Deve Gowda and community leaders of the village and surrounding areas. The statue carved in black stone has its eyes covered with a yellow cloth and is adorned with a garland of roses, Sharad Sharma, an office-bearer of the Vishva Hindu Parishad told PTI. In the picture released by VHP, Ram Lalla is in a standing posture. On Thursday afternoon, the new idol of Lord Ram was placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, ahead of the consecration ceremony. The 51-inch idol of Lord Ram as a child, sculpted by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj, was brought to the temple on Wednesday night. This was done amid chanting of prayers, according to the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust. Dixit said the 'pradhan sankalp' was performed by Anil Mishra, a member of the trust. "The idea behind the 'pradhan sankalp' is that the 'pratishtha' of Lord Ram is being done for the welfare of all, for the welfare of the nation, for the welfare of humanity and also for those who contributed to this work (related to the temple). "Apart from this, other rituals were also performed. 'Vastras' were also given to Brahmins and work has been assigned to everyone," he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the January 22 consecration ceremony at the Ram temple, which is expected to be opened to the public the next day. Temple trust general secretary Champat Rai had told reporters here on Monday that the consecration ceremony will begin at 12:20 pm and is expected to be completed by 1 pm on January 22. Rituals leading to the consecration ceremony have already begun at the temple. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said Ram Lalla has been installed in the temple and the entire country is awaiting the consecration ceremony. "Ramlalla has been installed in the temple. All arrangements, including that of infrastructure, medical facilities and medicines have been made," Pathak told PTI. Anticipating a huge influx of devotees, the Health Department has intensified its preparations. Dr Sanjay Jain, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of <keyword id="6354931" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ayodhya" source="Orion">Ayodhya</keyword>, said the department is collaborating with the Shri Ram Mandir Teerth Kshetra trust to establish first aid units at 16 key locations within the event area. He said the first aid units will have a doctor, pharmacist and a ward boy. They are strategically planned for crowded locations such as the Saket Petrol Pump, Kanak Bhawan and Hanuman Garhi. Each unit will be equipped with necessary medical supplie, including medicines, a nebulizer, oxygen facilities and the capability to conduct blood sugar tests. Additionally, the Health Department is establishing two hospitals with capacities of 10 and 20 beds respectively, where doctors will be available to attend patients. Besides, arrangements for 40 ambulances are also being made, which will be stationed at various important locations in Ayodhya. The Health Department has reserved 190 beds for emergency situations in the district's medical college, Shri Ram Chikitsalaya Ayodhya, District Hospital Ayodhya, Mahila District Hospital and Kumarganj Hospital. During the consecration ceremony, if anyone faces a medical emergency, they will be initially taken to the two hospitals set up in the event area for treatment. If their condition does not improve, they will be referred to the Shri Ram Hospital.

Police personnel in plain clothes have been deployed at the venue. Movable barriers with barbed wires attached to them can be spotted at every prominent crossroads in the temple town, as police use them to regulate traffic, especially during VVIP movements. Multiple NDRF teams trained to tackle chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear attacks, drowning incidents and disasters like earthquakes have also been deployed. While more than 7,000 people are on the list of invitees for the event, the select list features 506 A-listers. Business tycoons Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani are among the prominent people invited to the event. Those attending the "Pran Prathishtha" also include people linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation. Almost all opposition leaders invited to the ceremony have declined to be in attendance, with the Congress calling it a "BJP-RSS event".
