In a big move, market watchdog <keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SEBI" source="keywords">SEBI</keyword> has banned <keyword id="19902194" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anil-Ambani" source="keywords">Anil Ambani</keyword> from participating in the securities markets for 5 years, for diverting funds from <keyword id="20367971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Home-Finance" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Reliance Home Finance" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Reliance Home Finance">Reliance Home Finance</keyword> (RHF). This means that the debt-ridden Ambani scion will not be able to serve as key managerial personnel, or director in any listed company for the next 5 years. Additionally, he will also have to pay Rs 25 crore as a penalty. Along with Ambani, 24 others, which include former employees of RHF, have also been banned from trading in the securities market for a five year period. RHF itself has been barred from the securities market for 6 months, and has also been penalized Rs 6 lakh. <h2>Not the first time</h2>In its order, SEBI found Ambani guilty of fraud and channeling away RHF funds under the guise of loans by lending them to entities connected to him. This was despite the company's board of directors repeatedly advising to stop such practices. Ambani continued to orchestrate the fraud, thanks to his key position as the chairman of ADA Group, and also because of his shareholding in RHFL's holding company. In July this year, SEBI had barred the infamous fugitive Vijay Mallya from trading in Indian markets for three years, when it was found that Mallya illegally routed funds via foreign banks and companies to spruce up the share value of his own companies and profiting from the same, aka stock rigging. While all his assets in India are frozen, he also cannot serve as the director of any Indian listed company for this duration. But this is not the first time SEBI has debarred people from the markets. Last year, SEBI had barred Mohammad Nasiruddin Ansari, popularly known as <keyword id="22893256" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Baap-of-Charts" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Baap of Charts" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Baap of Charts">Baap of Charts</keyword>, after he was f0und doling out misleading stock-related advise, while pretending to run educative courses. SEBI also asked Ansari to refund Rs 17.2 crore he had collected under the guise of fees. Another popular fin-fluencer, PR Sundar, was barred from options trading for an entire year, when it was found that he was running full fledged investment advisory services i.e. recommending buying and selling stocks, without obtaining the necessary licenses Bollywood actor <keyword id="20003289" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="arshad-warsi" source="keywords">Arshad Warsi</keyword>, along with his wife Maria Goretti, were also banned by SEBI last year after he was found uploading videos that lured investors to buy shares of two specific companies, namely Sadhna Broadcast and Sharpline Broadcast, and thus, profiting about Rs 29.43 lakh and Rs 37.56 lakh, respectively. They were not allowed to trade until they deposited all profits made in this manner in an escrow account. However, the duo, along with Warsi's brother Iqbal Warsi later received relief from SAT (Securities Appellate Tribunal), which set aside SEBI's order.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (<keyword id="35210" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi" source="Orion">SEBI</keyword>) has reportedly banned several entities, including Arshad, Maria, <keyword id="16684019" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="YouTuber-Manish-Mishra" source="Orion">YouTuber Manish Mishra</keyword> and promoters of <keyword id="7154046" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sadhna-Broadcast" source="Orion">Sadhna Broadcast</keyword> - Shreya Gupta, Gaurav Gupta, Saurabh Gupta, Pooja Aggarwal and Varun Media - from the securities market in a case related to uploading misleading videos on YouTube channels recommending investors to buy the company's shares. According to the interim order, Arshad Warsi made a profit of Rs 29.43 lakh, Maria Goretti earned a profit of Rs 37.56 lakh. However, Arshad took to Twitter and requested everyone not to believe in hearsay. He also mentioned that he and his wife lack knowledge of the stock market. "Please do not believe everything you read in the news. Maria and my knowledge about stocks is zero, took advice and invested in Sharda, and like many others, lost all our hardearned money," he tweeted. The investigation began after SEBI received complaints alleging that certain entities were engaging in price manipulation and offloading shares of Sadhna Broadcast Ltd and Sharpline Broadcast Ltd. Sebi on Thursday barred 31 entities, including actor <keyword id="20399" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="arshad-warsi" source="Orion">Arshad Warsi</keyword>, his wife <keyword id="995" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maria-goretti" source="Orion">Maria Goretti</keyword> and promoters of <keyword id="11249" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="sadhna" source="Orion">Sadhna</keyword> Broadcast from the securities market in a case related to uploading misleading videos on YouTube channels recommending investors to buy the company's shares. The company's promoters who have been restrained from the securities market for their involvement are - <keyword id="1569219" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shreya-gupta" source="Orion">Shreya Gupta</keyword>, Gaurav Gupta, Saurabh Gupta, Pooja Aggarwal and Varun Media. In addition, the regulator has impounded illegal gains to the tune of Rs 41.85 crore made by the entities after misleading videos were uploaded on YouTube channels. SEBI noted that Arshad Warsi has made a profit of Rs 29.43 lakh and his wife has earned a profit of Rs 37.56 lakh. The order came after <keyword id="6355630" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="securities-and-exchange-board-of-india" source="Orion">Securities and Exchange Board of India</keyword> (SEBI) received certain complaints wherein it was alleged that there was price manipulation and offloading of shares by certain entities in the scrip of television channel Sadhna Broadcast. The complaints alleged that misleading YouTube videos with false content about the company were uploaded to lure investors. Following this, the regulator conducted an examination during April-September 2022 and found a spurt in the price and volume of scrip of Sadhna between April and mid-July 2022. During the second half of July 2022, false and misleading videos about Sadhna were uploaded on two YouTube channels -- "The Advisor" and "Moneywise". These YouTube videos peddled false and misleading news to recommend that investors should buy the Sadhna stock for extraordinary profits, SEBI said in its interim order. Subsequent to the release of the misleading YouTube videos, there was an increase in the price and trading volume of the Sadhna scrip. The volumes appear to have been contributed by a large number of retail investors likely influenced by the misleading YouTube videos. During this period, certain promoter shareholders, key management personnel of Sadhna, and non-promoter shareholders offloaded a significant part of their holdings at inflated prices and booked profits. One of the misleading videos on these YouTube channels was that Sadhna Broadcast Ltd is going to be taken over by the Adani group. After the deal, the margins of the company will increase. In addition, there were other videos like the company is moving from TV production to movie production and a big American corporation has entered into a contract for Rs 1,100 crore to produce four devotional movies where the money will be brought in by the American investor but the rights will remain with Sadhna. SEBI has classified these 31 entities into categories -- creator of YouTube channels (Manish Mishra), net sellers/ promoters and profit makers (NSs), Volume Creators (VCs) and information carriers (ICs). Arshad Warsi and his wife come in the category of Volume Creators. SEBI noted that these 31 entities collectively helped create trading volumes and interest in the scrip, spread false and misleading YouTube videos, and hence induced unsuspecting investors to buy the Sadhna scrip at elevated prices, thereby prima facie violating the provisions of PFUTP (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices) rules. Collectively, NSs and some of the VCs have booked extraordinary profits as a result of this scheme. "I note that the elaborate modus operandi adopted by the Noticees (31 entities) including the egregious misuse of patently false and misleading YouTube videos, had led to drastic increase in the number of small shareholders (from 2,167 to 55,343 shareholders), who ended up buying shares from the noticee net sellers and volume creators at inflated price," SEBI Whole Time Member Ananth Narayan G said in his 58-page order. Accordingly, the regulator has barred these 31 entities "from buying, selling or dealing in securities either directly or indirectly, in any manner whatsoever until further orders". Also, all the entities have been directed not to dispose of any assets, whether movable or immovable including money lying in bank accounts except with the prior permission of SEBI until the impounded amount is deposited in the escrow account. SEBI bans Sadhna Broadcast's promoters, actor Arshad Warsi, others from securities mkt

Railway Minister <keyword id="6356597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suresh-Prabhu">Suresh Prabhu</keyword> today flagged off the first indigenously built '<keyword id="195876" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Medha">Medha</keyword>' rake on the western corridor of the city, according to a <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword> news report. 
 "We are proud to have built this rake under the Make in India campaign. We are working on various railway projects worth Rs 51,000 crore for the people of Mumbai city, besides projects worth Rs 1.36 lakh crore are underway for the state of <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword>," <keyword id="19179" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="prabhu">Prabhu</keyword> said in his speech. 
 Two Medha rakes were on a trial mode since last two years and have been designed and built at the <keyword id="49000" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Integral-Coach-Factory">Integral Coach Factory</keyword> in Chennai. 
 The seats of these trains are ergonomically designed for better seating comfort of the passengers. The cost of each Medha rake is Rs 43.23 crore, as against Rs 44.36 crore spent for <keyword id="117791" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bombardier">Bombardier</keyword> rakes. 
 
Prabhu said his ministry was on a "mission mode" to transform the Railways. 
 
"We have chalked out a roadmap to transform the railway and therefore, we have prepared the blueprint of long-term, short-term and medium-term investment to achieve this target. Most importantly, railway authorities have been vested powers to use the fund according to their profile," said Prabhu. 
 During the event, Prabhu also flagged off Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Tatanagar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus <keyword id="3260043" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Antyodaya-Express">Antyodaya Express</keyword> (bi-weekly). 
 Having a seating capacity of 2,000, the <keyword id="113158" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Antyodaya">Antyodaya</keyword> Express is meant to be a long-distance, fully unreserved, super-fast train service, which will cover the distance between the two cities in 25 hours. 
 
20-general-coach Antyodaya train has many advanced amenities like water purifiers, fire extinguishers, mobile charging points, anti-theft arrangement, cushioned luggage racks with coat hooks, LED lights and bio-toilets. 
 The regular service will leave <keyword id="426621" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lokmanya-Tilak-Terminus">Lokmanya Tilak Terminus</keyword> at 1.20 PM every Tuesday and Saturday and enroute the train will halt at Igatpuri, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Gondia, Durg, <keyword id="45327" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raipur">Raipur</keyword>, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Jharsuguda, Rourkela and Chakradharpur stations. 
 Prabhu also flagged off Miraj- Solapur-Miraj Express daily train through a video link, besides announcing <keyword id="4309574" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lokmanya-tilak-terminus-lucknow-lokmanya-tilak">Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Lucknow-Lokmanya Tilak</keyword> Terminus AC Superfast (weekly), which will commence its regular services from April 8, 2017. 
 
He also laid foundation stone for the construction of the fourth line between Bhusaval-Jalgaon a 24-km stretch at an approximate cost of Rs 260 crores. 
 
During the event, Prabhu also inaugurated the mechanised laundry installed at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (coaching depot) having capacity of 13,000 bed rolls per day.

Indian Railways just got its first 'Make in India' train rake

Just two days ago, the faith of Indian citizens was restored on their judiciary. But, the faith was shattered when Salman secured a bail. Now, it's beyond conclusion that ‘Bhai’ has bloody hands. A convict is a convict. 
 After seeing several high profile politicians and actors (remember <keyword id="7645" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sanjay-Dutt">Sanjay Dutt</keyword>?) bite the dust and get behind the bars for the crimes they had committed, when judiciary reigned supreme, people had heaved a sigh of relief. It was a very emotional moment for the fans of <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword> to see their beloved ‘Bhai’ being convicted of a crime he committed 13 good years ago. Now, now the ‘fate’, luck and numerology obsessed <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> would believe that the Chulbul Pandey who beat up all baddies in his superhit ‘Dabangg’ would have fought his bad luck too. The number 13, isn’t it considered unlucky? 2015 was the 13th year after a man was crushed under the wheels of Salman’s swanky car on that drunken night. The dead one was a poor labourer. A non-descript one. He was the one who came to probably carry bricks and cement bags for that bangla to be built by a crorepati realtor, or run errands for a rich landlord. Whatever, it be; when he was gone, no one noticed that he was gone. Because the cameras were trained on the big bad ‘Bhai’, who was also known to have a golden <keyword id="24479" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="heart">heart</keyword>! 
 After all, <keyword id="2842361" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salman-Bhai-Khan">Salman Bhai Khan</keyword> is the most eligible bachelor in the steaming hot Bollywood which gets a certain kind of high on cocaine, alcohol and certain kind of deaths. 
 
Well, it pays to be a hero. Because then, you don’t have to speak much. You can only wear your shades and look like you are actually mourning. Your fans will shed the tears for you, and dry their own; celebrate the fact that your bloody eyes are hiding well behind the dark UV-protected glasses that could have cost a small country’s entire GDP. Well, when you are ‘Bhai’ with a large heart, your own largesse and being ‘at large’ is just something you often do. 
 But, look this way. Salman may be out on bail. And, chances are when you hire a <keyword id="6356325" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lawyer">lawyer</keyword> like Harish Salve, you may never ever (just as assertively as Arnab Goswamy says) and NEVER EVER have to even visit the prison again, let alone spending a few days there. You can entirely forget about spending the sentence duration. Five years? Are you kidding us? Well, well, who told those lowly labourers to sleep on the <keyword id="6429269" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pavement">pavement</keyword> for god’s sake? 
 What, wait! <keyword id="51958" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="YES">Yes</keyword>, why do majority of Mumbai’s labourers sleep on the pavement and get run over by cars? Do we know something about the man who died? Where was he working? Who had hired him? What was he working as? Did we hear anybody claim he was family or even a hired help? 
 
The problem with a large migrant city like Mumbai is, life is cheap and death? That’s even cheaper. A working man, so long as he is working, is worth some value in currency. When he becomes a liability, there is no mercy left. Didn’t the city authorities run a background check into those labourers? Why they were not provided some shelter by whoever was using their services? 
 Why have we become so complacent about people who slave themselves and waste away on footpaths and pavements? Remember <keyword id="20399" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arshad-Warsi">Arshad Warsi</keyword>’s ‘Jolly LLB’? There is a touching scene in the film when while arguing for a poor labourer who died, and others who were injured and silenced by the system, Warsi stands up for them. He is chided by his opponent who says the fault is of those who sleep on the footpaths. Because they are not meant for sleeping. 
 Four stars for the <keyword id="202636" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="script-writer">script writer</keyword> who says “Yes, the footpaths are not for sleeping. But they are not for driving either!” Applause! Applause! 
The film wastes a golden opportunity to throw light on another aspect. That of migration labourers. Where do they come from? Who are they? Why do they live a lowly life? 
 
Reality is, they come to toil in our houses. Build our gated communities, with swimming pool, club house and shopping mall. They never get to even understand what goes on inside these swanky places. They are the forbidden clan. They are apologies to the society. They are embarrassments which have to be swept under the carpet. 
 
Because, unless they are dead, their existence has no value. And once they are dead, they just remain statistics. Nothing more, nothing less. Authorities will not even feel guilty about having murdered them. 
 In more ways than one, Salman is not the only ‘Macbeth’ in Bollywood with bloody hands. There are more like him. Whether it is Bacchan’s relative <keyword id="45587" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sanjeev-Nanda">Sanjeev Nanda</keyword>, industrialist Mahendra Khatau’s son <keyword id="34" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manish">Manish</keyword>, <keyword id="38810" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="hairdresser">hairdresser</keyword> Nooriya Haveliwalla, or <keyword id="271" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="actor">actor</keyword> <keyword id="6357789" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajkumar">Rajkumar</keyword>’s son <keyword id="129043" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Puru">Puru</keyword> – they are lucky because they could buy lawyers. And the poor dead souls who died under these people’s rich didn’t have the luck smiling by them. 
Too bad.

Being Salman: Bollywood’s own ‘Macbeth’ rolling out

After a long time, here is a <keyword id="1978999" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Comedy-thriller">comedy thriller</keyword> that thrills and entertains. <keyword id="363758" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Suspense">Suspense</keyword> is intricately woven into the storyline; the brilliant acting of veterans Madhuri and <keyword id="734132" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Naseeruddin">Naseeruddin</keyword> enthral you; and there is no lack of sparkling wit – <keyword id="20399" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arshad-Warsi">Arshad Warsi</keyword> and <keyword id="766698" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Huma-Qureshi">Huma Qureshi</keyword> make sure of that. But in spite of a delectable <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> mix of <keyword id="1723" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="fun">fun</keyword> &amp; <keyword id="52355" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="humour">humour</keyword>, thrill &amp; suspense, romance &amp; deceit, <keyword id="94542" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Abhishek-Chaubey">Abhishek Chaubey</keyword>'s <keyword id="696067" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dedh-Ishqiya">Dedh Ishqiya</keyword> has failed to recreate the crowd-pulling power of the earlier movie <keyword id="33639" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="ishqiya">Ishqiya</keyword> (2010). Nor can it repeat Ishqiya's stupendous <keyword id="1996041" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-success">box office success</keyword>. 
 
In contrast, <keyword id="1434830" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Yaariyan">Yaariyan</keyword>, literally a newcomers' movie and made by the <keyword id="202523" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="debutante-director">debutante director</keyword> <keyword id="803235" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Divya-Khosla-Kumar">Divya Khosla Kumar</keyword>, has raced past the critically acclaimed Dedh Ishqiya. Released on January 10, the bubbly tale of adventure and <keyword id="125717" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="college-romance">college romance</keyword> has a <keyword id="2014756" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="First-weekend-collection">first weekend collection</keyword> of around Rs 16.50 crore nett while its four-day total has climbed to Rs 19 crore nett. <keyword id="2014759" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gross-collections">Gross collections</keyword> stand at Rs 22.20 crore at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword> after Day 4 (January 13). 
 
But more on that later. First, let’s have a close look at Dedh Ishqiya and what all it offers. The sequel of the earlier movie has seen one major change in cast, though. It’s the comeback film of <keyword id="6358652" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Madhuri-Dixit-Nene">Madhuri Dixit-Nene</keyword>, but she can’t match the spunky ruthlessness of Ishqiya’s <keyword id="3844" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vidya-Balan">Vidya Balan</keyword>. Just like the real Madhuri, <keyword id="241381" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Begum-Para">Begum Para</keyword> is sheer magic throughout the flick because of her ethereal grace. But her on-screen manipulations pale before the earthy Vidya who managed to mesmerise all in her earlier outing. And when those sparks are missing, can the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> catch fire? 
 
Obviously not, going by the numbers. Dedh Ishqiya has also opened on January 10 and grossed around Rs 14.25 crore at the domestic box office after Day 4 (January 13), according to industry estimates. The <keyword id="382940" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="opening-weekend">opening weekend</keyword> saw collections of around Rs 11.50 crore nett although the <keyword id="1988011" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Screen-count">screen count</keyword> stood at 1,000-1,200 at home. But then, the <keyword id="2014761" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Occupancy-rate">occupancy rate</keyword> was abysmally low, just 20%, and it faltered even in the state of <keyword id="6357713" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> where a strong support was predicted. Collections in the <keyword id="1235960" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mumbai-circuit">Mumbai circuit</keyword> were low as well. 
 But in spite of a <keyword id="182563" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BO">BO</keyword> slowdown, the flick has earned some glowing accolades from noted critics. According to Anupama Chopra of the Hindustan Times, “Dedh Ishqiya is worth watching just for Abhishek Chaubey’s ambition. He is not constrained by the demands of the box office.”

The story of <keyword id="2014765" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Love-and-deceit">love and deceit</keyword> intertwines and flows smoothly as <keyword id="2014746" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Khalujaan">Khalujaan</keyword> (Naseeruddin) and his nephew <keyword id="964492" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Babban">Babban</keyword> (Arshad), a thief duo posing as a nawab and his attendant, set their eyes on Begum Para and her assistant <keyword id="2014767" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Muniya">Muniya</keyword> (Huma), respectively. The rest becomes a classic journey of revelation and a rare insight into human nature. 
 
“Dedh Ishqiya is an absolute delight because all its parts fit beautifully. The <keyword id="42054" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cinematography">cinematography</keyword>, <keyword id="6363322" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="sets">sets</keyword> and <keyword id="571210" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Costumes">costumes</keyword> are exquisite. The editing is sharp. Most importantly, <keyword id="2014744" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Darab-Farooqui">Darab Farooqui</keyword>’s story is plotted wonderfully by <keyword id="33638" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishal-Bharadwaj">Vishal Bharadwaj</keyword> and Chaubey’s screenplay,” writes <keyword id="122490" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="film-critic">film critic</keyword> Deepanjana Pal. 
 
But at this point, we are not sure whether the average Bollywood fans will give this movie a wide berth or not because of its subtle artistry and multi-layered messages. 
 
 
 
Yaariyan, the other release, features an overused youth-centric theme. But it tries to pose as vibrantly young and refreshingly different in approach. But before they can come to terms with different <keyword id="6358061" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="relationships">relationships</keyword> and discover values that will keep them going, you will get tired of the regular dose of Bollywood masala punched into the mixture. 
 Thematically, it has an uncanny resemblance to <keyword id="3778" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Karan-Johar">Karan Johar</keyword>’s Student Of The Year. However, the movie is a potpourri of several other things as well – from national sentiments to international violence and tolerance, from dressing scantily to thinking less like a modern individual and a general avoidance of <keyword id="2014777" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tangible-adult-themes">tangible adult themes</keyword>. But we are eager to accept those as the infallible Indian core values and tend to ignore the under-dressing as part of the modern gear. 
 Although the <keyword id="1308674" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="production-budget">production budget</keyword> of this flick is not too high, some Rs 19 crore according to koimoi.com, the movie has been shot across states and continents – in <keyword id="6358070" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mumbai">Mumbai</keyword>, <keyword id="6355478" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Australia">Australia</keyword>, <keyword id="48118" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sikkim">Sikkim</keyword> and <keyword id="6358045" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Darjeeling">Darjeeling</keyword>. And the <keyword id="6354530" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="music">music</keyword> of this movie is simply awesome, which is another reason behind its instant success. 
 
At the end of the day, it will be unfair to compare Dedh Ishqiya and Yaariyan. They belong to <keyword id="2014794" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Different-genres">different genres</keyword> and will attract different kinds of audience, to say the least. But it will be interesting to wait and see who wins the <keyword id="2014796" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Money-game">money game</keyword> at the box office. Films, even good films, are made to churn money and losing at that level does not speak well for a movie.

Ishqiya Stumbles At Box Office; Yaariyan Romps Past

As for <keyword id="20399" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arshad-Warsi">Arshad Warsi</keyword> and Soha Ali Khan-starrer <keyword id="2005226" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Comedy-flick">comedy flick</keyword> Mr Joe B Carvalho, the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> response has been nothing less than disastrous – just Rs 2.25 crore nett at home after the first weekend, according to <keyword id="2005227" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Industry-estimates">industry estimates</keyword>. Its collections went further down to Rs 30-35 lakh on Day 4 (Monday, January 6). 
 
In contrast, Sholay 3D has done much better and scooped up about Rs 5.6 crore in India after the 4th day. The new version has cost about Rs 22 crore, including <keyword id="61642" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Restoration">restoration</keyword> and conversion expenses, and hit 1,000 screens. Till date, the occupancy was 60-70% and <keyword id="617883" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sholay-3D">Sholay 3D</keyword> is expected to keep up the tempo in the next few weeks. Not bad for a movie that is 38-year-old and can only rekindle nostalgia. 
 
But it’s a different story when you watch Carvalho. Directed by <keyword id="1943459" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samir-Tewari">Samir Tewari</keyword>, the flick also stars <keyword id="212233" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jaaved-Jaffrey">Jaaved Jaffrey</keyword> and <keyword id="2005219" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vijay-Raaj">Vijay Raaj</keyword>, and has reportedly opened in 1,100 screens across the country. Moreover, it has all the regular dose of masala – Arshad plays a <keyword id="25276" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="detective">detective</keyword> for the first time in a <keyword id="680" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="hindi-movie">Hindi movie</keyword> (a small-time <keyword id="1229562" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="private-eye">private eye</keyword> from <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword>); <keyword id="6375366" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="police-officer">police officer</keyword> <keyword id="2005218" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shantipriya-Phadnis">Shantipriya Phadnis</keyword> (Soha) appears in her first-ever <keyword id="2005239" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bikini-shot">bikini shot</keyword> and does some cabaret; and Jaaved or ‘<keyword id="84355" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Carlos">Carlos</keyword>’ enacts a number of quirky characters whenever he comes on screen. But in spite of their best efforts (at least Arshad has been pretty smooth throughout), the plot lacks thrill; the gags are stale and <keyword id="6359193" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Comedy">comedy</keyword> has taken flight – leaving behind some skeletal, cartoonish shells. 
 Interestingly, this is Tewari’s <keyword id="41623" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Directorial-debut">directorial debut</keyword> and one really wonders if he is in the industry to stay. As for Arshad, one only hopes this lacklustre flick won’t affect his upcoming movie <keyword id="696067" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dedh-Ishqiya">Dedh Ishqiya</keyword>, releasing on January 10. 
 But before we conclude, here’s a piece of BO news that will cheer up all. <keyword id="6355923" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Aamir-Khan">Aamir Khan</keyword>’s <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/9-Bollywood-BlockbustersThat-Entered-Rs-100-Crore-Club-In-2013/articleshow/28176524.cms">Dhoom 3</a> has vroomed past all limits and grossed Rs 501.35 crore ($83.56 million) worldwide (India &amp; overseas business) since its release on December 20 last year. Producers Yash Raj Films (YRF) has also issued a statement confirming the news. 
 
“Dhoom 3 continues to create history at both the Indian and overseas box office. It is now officially the first Indian film to cross Rs 500 crore worldwide,” the statement said. Now that the box office landmark has been set, will it be the new Bollywood reality for the rest of the year? Maybe the release of Dedh Ishqiya can help us get over a dismal beginning.

The actor was discharged from the hospital after he was admitted following stomach infection. But, his health condition deteriorated last night, and suffered a heart attack. Last night at 12.30 a.m. he got a cardiac arrest." "He was admitted in the hospital for a stomach infection," the actor said. Asked about the cremation, Amit categorically said, "I have no details about his cremation." Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi expressed grief over the death of Rituraj. In a post on X, Arshad wrote, "I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building, he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actor... will miss you brother...". "It is an eye opener that way and our focus is mostly on the security and safety and protection of the child, which is an issue which is very close to my heart - always been," Bajpayee said about the movie in an interview. Affable lawyers with twisted minds Solanki’s character, based on a real-life model, brings forth the struggles of the legal system in India. But it’s not the only one, especially on OTT. Yet another celebrated actor, Pankaj Tripathi plays Madhav Mishra, an affable-yet-brilliant lawyer from Mumbai who investigates his cases closely in Criminal Justice on Hotstar. The genius underdog also takes up controversial cases like defending a drug-addict teenager accused of murdering his sister, a woman who murdered her husband, and also a cab driver accused of rape and murder of his client —- across three seasons. Tripathi says that his character is based on aam aadmi, who mixes humour with common sense. “His behaviour, mannerisms, sense of timing and body language all make him easy to understand and relate to. The movie starring Pankaj Kapoor brings the story of the now-abandoned jury system in India, as they discuss the depths of a case where a young teen from a slum stabs his father. Just two days before release, ‘Udta Punjab’, was leaked online. Phantom Films has filed a copyright theft case with the cybercrime cell. It is being speculated that the copy that was submitted to the censor board was uploaded on various torrentz sites. 
 
The download links were removed later owing to copyright complaint. 
 
Following the piracy issue, Bollywood celebrities have come out in support of the movie, urging fans to watch it in theatres. 
 
From Aamir Khan to Bipasha Basu, Bollywood actors and actresses took to Twitter and backed Udta Punjab’s star cast and decried piracy.
