Equity benchmark <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> rallied over 300 points in opening trade to hit a fresh lifetime high on Tuesday, tracking gains in index heavyweights ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and M&amp;M despite a weak trend in global markets. After touching a record of 60,621.72, the 30-share Sensex was trading 261.17 points or 0.43% higher at 60,545.48. Similarly, the <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> surged 97.75 points or 0.54% to a new intra-day peak of 18,089.70. M&amp;M was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rallying over 3%, followed by <keyword id="66427" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="powergrid" source="Orion">PowerGrid</keyword>, <keyword id="6354287" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharti-airtel" source="Orion">Bharti Airtel</keyword>, L&amp;T, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank. On the other hand, <keyword id="6356830" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nestle-india" source="Orion">Nestle India</keyword>, HUL, HCL Tech, SBI and <keyword id="6357147" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-steel" source="Orion">Tata Steel</keyword> were among the laggards. In the previous session, the 30-share index ended 148.53 points or 0.25% higher at record 60,284.31, and Nifty rose 46 points or 0.26% to its fresh closing peak of 17,991.95. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares worth Rs 278.32 crore on Tuesday, as per exchange data. Domestic equities look to be good as of now, said Binod Modi Head-Strategy at Reliance Securities. “Sharp contraction in CPI print at 4.35% for September despite elevated oil prices and sustained IIP growth (11.5% growth for August) certainly offer comfort. We also believe that 2QFY22 corporate earnings are going to be quite crucial for the market,” he stated. Retail inflation fell to a five-month low of 4.35% in September from 7.27% in the year-ago period as prices of vegetables and other items declined. Industrial production grew 11.9% in August mainly due to a low-base effect and good performance by manufacturing, mining and power sectors that surpassed the pre-COVID level. In the US, the equity market contracted for the third consecutive day in a choppy trading day ahead of crucial inflation data and September quarter earnings. Elsewhere in Asia, bourses in Shanghai and Tokyo were trading with losses in mid-session deals, while Seoul was positive. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.31% to $83.16 per barrel. <ul class="summary-list"><li>"App Tracking Transparency" is a core new feature of Apple's <keyword id="8663299" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="iOS-14">iOS 14</keyword>.5 software update.</li><li>App developers now need to serve users a <keyword id="1739145" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Pop-Up">pop-up</keyword> asking for permission to track them.</li><li>Some users' settings have prevented them from seeing any pop-ups. Here's how to change that.</li></ul>Apple's <keyword id="10690688" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ios-14-5">iOS 14.5</keyword> update, which began rolling out earlier this week, has a bunch of new features, from emoji to new voices for Siri.Arguably the most significant update is the introduction of "<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/explainer-apple-idfa-app-privacy-changes-2020-12">App Tracking Transparency</a>," which requires app developers to serve pop-ups explicitly asking people to opt in to being tracked across other companies' apps and websites.However, some people who've updated to iOS 14.5 haven't seen any permission pop-ups.Mobile-advertising experts suggested three possible reasons. Apple did not respond to requests for comment.<h2>1. The 'allow apps to request to track' <keyword id="6355135" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Privacy">privacy</keyword> setting is toggled off</h2>The simplest explanation for not yet seeing the pop-ups boils down to an option in a user's privacy settings.To check if that's the case, head to the Settings app and scroll down to "privacy." Clicking on "tracking" shows a screen that looks like the image below, with the option to toggle "allow apps to request to track" on or off.If the toggle is off, apps will be prevented from sharing that device's Identifier for Advertisers, or <keyword id="1026763" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="IDFA">IDFA</keyword>, with other apps and companies (unless the person has previously given permission for certain apps to track them).<div type="image" title="ios 14 privacy" height="1600" width="739" msid="82332429" hostid="261"></div>Simon Poulton, the vice president of digital intelligence at the digital marketing agency Wpromote, said it was most likely that people with this setting switched off had "limit ad tracking" switched on in previous versions of iOS. In his view, the two settings aren't the same thing but are being treated as such by Apple.The previous setting "was about ad tracking, obscuring the IDFA to mitigate ad tracking, but App Tracking Transparency is far broader, and there are lots of factors here - I don't think you can make the case that opting out of that is the same thing," Poulton said."It's another screw turning" for players in the mobile-advertising market, he said.<h2>2. Some users might not have the option to toggle 'allow apps to request to track' on</h2>Some people have reported that the "allow apps to request to track" option is grayed out, rendering them unable to opt in to receiving the notifications.<div type="image" title="iOS 14 privacy" height="1334" width="750" msid="82332430" hostid="261"></div><a href="https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212025">Apple says on its support page</a> that this will affect users under 18 or devices with child accounts; Apple IDs managed by an educational institution or other organization that limits tracking; and Apple IDs created within the past three days.However, Insider found at least two instances of users who didn't fall into these categories but were unable to toggle the setting. The mobile-measurement firm AppsFlyer <a href="https://www.appsflyer.com/blog/zeroed-idfa-ios-14/">said in a blog post last year</a> that some people had been able to reset the toggle by logging out of their iCloud accounts and logging back in again.<h2>3. Some apps haven't rolled out the prompt yet</h2>While many developers began serving the privacy pop-up immediately after the iOS 14.5 update rolled out on Monday, others are waiting a little longer."Some brands have decided they will not show the ATT prompt on the first open," Poulton said. "You just get one shot" to show the user the pop-up, he added, and some developers are waiting to see how things shake out before proceeding. That does mean, however, that those apps will not be able to access user IDFAs in the interim.<div type="image" title="iOS 14.5 privacy popup" height="828" width="1792" msid="82332431" hostid="261"></div>"After I installed iOS 14.5, I was surprised how few applications presented me with a pop-up," said Aaron McKee, the chief technology officer of Blis, a location-focused adtech company that helps advertisers target consumers. "I didn't see one in Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Snap, LinkedIn, Uber, Uber Eats, Deliveroo, TripAdvisor, or almost any other game or utility app I could find on my phone."McKee said that on Thursday, 30% of iOS 14.5 bid requests across Blis' network arrived with an IDFA present, meaning those users had opted in to tracking. But for the previous version of iOS, 89% had an IDFA attached."Some users understand the value exchange that exists between apps and publishers - sharing a bit of (mostly pseudo-anonymous) data means that apps can continue to provide free content," McKee said. "It also appears that a significant cross-section don't want to be part of that value exchange, and <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> and adtech companies should ensure they have a future-proofed, privacy-first approach to reaching their audiences."<h2>Bonus: Users can check whether they're opted in to receiving 'personalized ads' on Apple's services</h2>At the bottom of iOS 14.5's privacy settings is an "Apple Advertising" page where people can choose whether Apple can serve "personalized ads" to them in the App Store, Apple News, and the Stocks app. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-new-suggested-app-ad-format-details-revealed-2021-4">Apple is preparing to launch an ad format in the App Store</a> that suggests apps a person might like to download.<div type="image" title="apple app privacy" height="1792" width="828" msid="82332432" hostid="261"></div>Apple has said that it does not track users and that its own apps don't share information for advertising purposes with other apps and companies. However, the fact that Apple's setting works on an opt-out basis and appears in a separate menu has been a bone of contention among members of the mobile-advertising community."It's certainly something the mobile-ad industry isn't impressed with," said Shumel Lais, CEO of the analytics platform Appsumer. "But ultimately Apple can get away with it, as it can serve personalized ads using its own attribution solution without having to expose user identifiers to advertisers."

Some marketers are also scrambling to change their messaging in light of stock shortages.Every agency staffer I've spoken with this week has told me that planning and forecasting have never been harder.The holiday ad season is likely to look very different from typical years, Mindshare UK CEO Jem Lloyd-Williams told me."Supply-chain issues may mean you have fewer people advertising - who haven't got stuff on the shelves, or don't think it's the right thing to do - it may be less cacophonous," he said.Still, he added, for many advertisers, such as automakers, there's an opportunity to double down on advertising designed to build brand awareness and preference, rather than promoting specific products."When everyone else is pulling out of the market, you get a higher share of voice," Lloyd-Williams said.<h3>Shawty got low, low, low, low, low, low, low, Lowe's</h3><div type="image" title="lowe's employee" height="1416" width="1999" msid="87018664" hostid="261"></div>Continuing the trend that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/recent-advertising-hires-by-companies-like-instacart-and-home-depot-2021-7?r=US&amp;IR=TIR=T">every business becomes an ads business eventually</a>, the home retailer <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/lowes-launching-ad-business-to-compete-with-amazon-home-depot-2021-10?r=US&amp;IR=TIR=T">Lowe's is the latest retailer to get in on the act</a>, Insider's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/author/tanya-dua?r=US&amp;IR=TIR=T">Tanya Dua</a> reports.Its new advertising arm, Lowe's One Roof Media Network, offers ads across its website and app. Lowe's is also offering its first-party data for advertisers to target their digital ads outside its properties.Access to lucrative first-party shopping data in a destination where people are just about to make a purchase is key to all the latest retail-media plays.Take <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/doordash-launches-advertising-business-to-take-on-uber-instacart-2021-10?r=US&amp;IR=TIR=T">DoorDash, which this week formally launched an ad business</a>, Insider's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/author/lauren-johnson">Lauren Johnson</a> and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/author/nancy-luna">Nancy Luna</a> reported.<keyword id="11931723" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="doordash" source="Orion">DoorDash</keyword> is pitching advertisers on data about its 20 million monthly users like what restaurants people order from and whether they are a first-time or repeat DoorDash user.
