Chennai, <keyword id="6382967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Apollo" source="Orion">Apollo</keyword> Hospitals Enterprise Ltd has recorded a standalone profit after tax of Rs 294.8 crore for the three months ended September 30, 2023, the healthcare major said on Friday. Apollo Hospitals reported a standalone profit after tax of Rs 279.1 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. For the half-year period ended September 30, 2023, the standalone profit after tax stood at Rs 508.9 crore, as against Rs 612.3 crore registered in the same period last year, the company said on Friday. Total income on a standalone basis during the quarter under review grew to Rs 1,931.1 crore from Rs 1,758.5 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous year. For the six-month period ended September 30, 2023, the standalone total income grew to Rs 3,637.3 crore against Rs 3,298.7 crore registered in the same period last year. In a statement, Apollo Hospitals said the board, based on the recommendations of the investment committee, has evaluated and approved an expansion plan for the company involving a balance capital outlay of around Rs 3,400 crore after reckoning for land/asset acquisition costs already incurred. "(Apollo Hospitals is) on track to add 2,300 beds across eight locations at a cost of Rs 3,400 crore over the next three financial years," the statement read. The mode of financing would be internal accruals and debt financing. "This expansion plan is in line with the plan to expand footprint in identified strategic locations to drive continued business growth and cater to the increasing demand for quality healthcare services across the country," the company said. Apollo Hospitals Group Chairman Prathap C Reddy said, "For more than 40 years, Apollo has spearheaded a healthcare revolution in India, leading the charge in delivering quality healthcare services throughout the nation. Our unwavering commitment drives us to extend the reach of our services far and wide, bolstered by investments in cutting-edge technologies and the ongoing enhancement of our existing facilities." Apollo Hospitals posts July-September 2023 standalone PAT of Rs 294.8 cr

New Delhi, <keyword id="56368" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Apollo-Hospitals" source="Orion">Apollo Hospitals</keyword> on Friday said its consolidated profit after tax declined by 47 per cent to Rs 167 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2023. The healthcare major had reported a PAT (profit after tax) of Rs 317 crore in the April-June quarter of previous fiscal. Revenue grew by 16 per cent to Rs 4,418 crore in the first quarter as against Rs 37,96 crore in the same period a year ago, Apollo Hospitals said in a regulatory filing. As on June 30, 2023, Apollo Hospitals had 7,798 operating beds across the network, out of which 14 hospitals were new with 2,380 operating beds, it said. The new hospitals have a utilisation of 60 per cent and are expected to witness double-digit growth in volumes and improvement in utilisation and profitability going forward, it added. "As we step into the next quarter, our focus remains steadfast - to augment our doctors' expertise and revolutionise the overall patient experience as we continue steering Apollo towards a future where healthcare is proactive, personalised, and accessible to all," Apollo Hospitals Group Chairman Prathap C Reddy noted. Shares of the company were trading 0.32 per cent down at Rs 4,905.05 apiece on the BSE.

Apollo Hospitals Q1 2023-24 net profit dips 47% to Rs 167 crore

The use of Artificial Intelligence (<keyword id="6355999" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ai" source="Orion">AI</keyword>) in the medical sciences will be beneficial for the early diagnosis of a disease, however, it would not replace the usability of doctors, an expert said on Monday, while also adding that those doctors who do not use AI will be replaced. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Sangeeta Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo hospitals said, "Artificial intelligence is useful in early diagnosis. The incidence of disease will come down and the quality of care will go up and we will see universal access to care." "AI won't replace the doctors but those doctors will be replaced who don't use Artificial Intelligence," she added. The expert said that a disease cannot be cured by code (used in the AI) and that there will always be a requirement for nurses and doctors. Detailing the importance of AI, she explained further about the purpose behind two days conference with international healthcare professionals. "Basically we have been conducting this conference of transforming healthcare with IT and patient safety for the last 9 -10 years and the ideology is really that healthcare is transforming at a very rapid pace and technology is enabling that transformation," she said. The expert further explained the use of the hospital information system with no errors. "Whether it's in the arena of patient safety or quality, in standardised pathways in hospital information systems, all these are helping to do the same process in a repeated manner perfectly with no error," she said. Reddy further stressed that patient safety increases when there is a minimum error. "On February 5, our Chairman's birthday, we launched and gifted to India. Clinical Intelligence Engine (CIE) will be free for all doctors. This is the beginning of an AI engine, which can prompt a doctor on what is the best and most appropriate care. I want to highlight this here that this is not for individual patients," Reddy said. "So like the example I gave earlier, if a patient has a cough, you know you will say it is a dry cough. How many days, and what are the symptoms? Is it bronchitis? Are you in Delhi as the pollution levels are high here? But maybe also that patient was treated for lung cancer one month ago. So his doctor will know all these things. Therefore this tool is not for the public, but it is given free for use by any doctor in India to assist them in treating better and over the years this engine will become more and more powerful," she said. New Delhi, Jan 1 () Healthcare major Apollo Hospitals Enterprise is expecting medical tourism to be a promising component of its portfolio going forward, a top company official said.
 To tap into the growing segment, Apollo Hospitals has established international patients division that extended care to around 2 lakh patients in the last fiscal year.
 "At Apollo Hospitals, we have established a robust international patients division which has started seeing positive contribution to the group revenue," Apollo Hospitals Group Joint Managing Director Sangita Reddy told .
 Medical tourism is still nascent in India. It forms a small yet promising component of the Apollo Hospitals Enterprise portfolio, she added.
 "Most of our international patients seek medical treatments for oncology, organ transplant, cardiac procedures, orthopaedics and neurosurgery," Reddy said.
 On giving details, she said, at Apollo Hospitals majority of international patients hail from Pacific Islands, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Oman, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Myanmar and Nepal.
 India is poised to become a preferred medical value travel destination and significantly contribute to the economy, she further said.
 Niti Aayog has identified medical value travel as one of the major growth drivers and a major source of forex earning, she added.
 "Cost effectiveness, focus on advanced medical technology and availability of skilled medical professionals are some of the reasons India is attracting international patients. Indian doctors are delivering care of an international standard at a fraction of the international cost," Reddy said.
 As this dynamic industry evolves, India expects to attract medical travellers from diverse countries and demography, she added.
 On the steps needed to boost the segment, Reddy said: "While the Indian government has eased visa norms, another crucial area that needs attention is financial transaction process for medical travellers. A streamlined, smooth and easy financial transaction process will offer convenience and enhanced experience to the medical travellers."
 The visa on arrival will be a great boost to medical tourism in India, she added.

We also have to work on increasing the base, which allows women to think about leadership roles,” Vani Kola, Kalaari Capital said. Kola added there’s still a lot of work to be done to ensure ground-level entrepreneurship. Moreover, there’s also a need to raise awareness about investing in women leaders. New Delhi, Feb 13 () Healthcare major Apollo Hospitals Enterprise on Thursday reported a 80.36 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 89.96 crore for the quarter ended December on account of robust performance across verticals. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 49.87 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise said in a filing to the BSE. Consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 2,911.74 crore for the quarter under consideration. It was at Rs 2,495.04 crore for the same period a year ago. The company's board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 3.25 per equity share of Rs 5 each for the financial year ending March 31, 2020, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise said. "In addition to arming ourselves with newer offerings and treatment technologies, the resilience of our service model that offers comprehensive care across multiple centres and formats, is enabling us to maintain a focused trajectory of growth amidst a dynamic and fluid operating environment," Apollo Hospitals Chairman Prathap C Reddy said. Even as Apollo Hospitals widens the suite of preventive healthcare offerings, "we are rapidly evolving our capabilities across key specialties such as oncology, neurosciences, orthopaedics and critical care to meet the healthcare challenges of the nation," he added. As on December 31, 2019, Apollo Hospitals had over 7,470 operating beds across the network (excluding AHLL and managed beds), out of which 14 were new hospitals with 1,990 operating beds. The new hospitals are expected to see increase in volumes and utilisation going forward, the company said. The total store network of standalone pharmacies as of December 31, 2019 stood at 3,700 operational stores, it added. Apollo Health &amp; Lifestyle Ltd (AHLL), a wholly owned subsidiary which houses the retail healthcare business of Apollo Hospitals, had 917 centers in total as of December 31, 2019, the company said. New Delhi, Mar 26 () Healthcare major Apollo Hospitals on Thursday said it plans to scale up the number of its laboratories for testing of COVID-19 to 17 as soon as it gets permission from the government. Currently, five labs of Apollo Hospitals have been approved by the government for novel coronavirus testing across the country. The healthcare provider also plans to scale up the number of beds earmarked for treatment of COVID-19 across its hospitals if the need arises, the top management of the group said in a virtual media conference on the launch of 'Project Kavach' by the group. The response plan is a comprehensive approach by Apollo Hospitals that encompasses all aspects from information, screening and assessment, testing, to readying the infrastructure for quarantine and treatment of novel coronavirus pandemic. "We currently have five labs that are approved for testing of COVID-19. We plan to scale them to 17 as soon as we get the approval from the government," Apollo Hospitals Executive Vice Chairperson Shobana Kameneni told in an email response. When asked about the number of the isolation beds the company has to cater to the patients suffering from the pandemic, she said the facility and isolation beds are existing and spread across our hospital network. The scale-up will be done accordingly over time to meet the demand. About the pharmacies, Kameneni said: "The 3,800 Apollo pharmacies across 18 states will be pressed into action to serve people with all the medication, consumables and supplements as required. Stocks have been doubled, prices will be strictly monitored and controlled, and home delivery capability has been enhanced." It has re-designated Preetha Reddy and Shobhana Kamineni, daughters of <keyword id="6382967" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Apollo">Apollo</keyword> promoter Prathap Reddy, as executive vice-chairpersons with immediate effect. 
 
The company has also re-designated the other two Reddy sisters - Suneeta and Sangita - as managing director and joint managing director, respectively. The decision was taken during a meeting of the board of directors of the company, AHEL said. 
 
Preetha Reddy, who is currently the managing director, has been elevated as the executive vice-chairperson for the remaining period of her tenure (till February 2, 2016). Suneeta Reddy, who is currently the joint managing director, has been re-designated as managing director. Her tenure, too, is up to February 02, 2016. 
 
Shobana Kamineni, executive director - special initiatives, has been re-designated as executive vice-chairperson for the remaining period of her tenure (till January 31, 2015). The board has also approved her re-appointment as executive vice-chairperson for a period of five years with effect from February 01, 2015. 
 
The reorganisation is in line with Apollo's succession plan. 
 
However there will be no change in their remunerations. The Reddy sisters get an annual remuneration of Rs 5.25 crore each and their father Prathap Reddy, chairman of the group, earns Rs 15.63 crore annually. 
 
Prathap Reddy said in a statement, "As the healthcare landscape in the country and the region changes and expands, this strategic realignment, we believe, will enable Apollo to focus on growth opportunities in hospitals, pharmacies, clinics and health insurance while furthering its clinical leadership and service excellence. We aim to deepen our focus in each of these verticals as well as drive synergies between them using technology and an ecosystem focused on wellness, innovation and productivity."

Bhopal, May 6 () Leading tele-health service provider Apollo TeleHealth's Foundation has launched a toll-free call service Sanjeevani Telehealth Seva for non-COVID patients in Bhopal and Indore. The toll-free call service, launched on April 30, will help patients with non-COVID-19 related issues seek timely medical help at a time when non-emergency OPDs have been suspended by many hospitals, a release from Apollo Hospitals Group said. Bhopal and Indore are the two districts most seriously hit by the COVID-19 pandemic in Madhya Pradesh. The Sanjeevani Telehealth Seva project is being executed along with Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (recently merged into IndusInd Bank) under their CSR initiative. The toll-free number (1800-103-7378) was immediately flooded with queries, receiving over 200 calls within a few hours of being launched. Over 1,000+ calls have been received till now, with about 9 per cent of them being non-clinical calls and termed generic, it said. With the COVID-19 outbreak hindering the conventional doctor-patient consultations, a large number of patients have been left in the lurch. Many patients living with serious conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes need ongoing treatment and regular medical consultation. Sangita Reddy, joint managing director, Apollo Hospitals Group, said the doctors will proactively help patients to the best of their abilities.
