Budapest (Hungary), May 21 (AP) Hungary's government said Thursday that it is shutting down the transit zones on its southern border with Serbia where asylum-seekers are being kept while their asylum requests are decided. <p>Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff said that, as a result, some 280 asylum-seekers will be moved Thursday to reception centers in the country. </p><p>Gergely Gulyas also said that, in the future, those seeking to apply for asylum in Hungary will have to present their claims at Hungarian diplomatic missions. </p><p>The government decision comes after the European Union's top court last week ruled that holding asylum-seekers in Hungary's transit zones amounted to "detention" and said it was allowed for a maximum period of four weeks. </p><p>Hungary built fences protected by razor wire on its southern borders with Serbia and Croatia and later a pair of transit zones on its border with Serbia in the wake of the 2015 migrant crisis, when some 400,000 people passed through Hungary on their way to Western Europe. </p><p>The measures were part of Orban's increasingly strict anti-immigration policies and the extreme minimisation of Hungary's asylum system. </p><p>The transit zones built from shipping containers were a frequent target for widespread criticism from domestic and international rights groups. </p>They objected, for example, to the small number of asylum-seekers allowed to file claims, the prison-like conditions faced by those kept in the transit zones - including families with small children - and Hungary's frequent decision not to provide food to adults whose initial asylum claims were rejected but who remained in the transit zones while their appeals were heard. We work best at sea level, where oxygen levels are adequate for our brains and lungs.</p><p>But if climbers want to summit Mount Everest, the tallest peak in the world at 29,029 feet (8,848 meters or 5.5 miles) above sea level, they have to brave what's known as "The Death Zone" - the altitude above 8,000 meters where there is so little oxygen that the body starts to die, minute by minute and cell by cell.</p><p>Recent overcrowding on Everest has resulted in the deaths of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/everest-death-toll-week-passes-2018-record-overcrowding-2019-5">at least 11 people this past week</a>. But when humans reach altitudes above 12,000 feet - <a href="https://www.princeton.edu/~oa/safety/altitude.shtml">where oxygen levels are 40% lower</a> - it takes a huge toll on our bodies.</p><p>Jeremy Windsor, a doctor who climbed Everest in 2007 as part of <a href="https://www.xtreme-everest.co.uk/">the Caudwell Xtreme Everest Expedition</a>, <a href="https://www.markhorrell.com/blog/2018/a-doctors-advice-on-surviving-the-death-zone/">told Everest blogger Mark Horrell</a> that <span>blood samples taken from four mountaineers in the Death Zone revealed that the climbers were surviving on just one-quarter of the oxygen they needed at sea level. </span></p><p><span>"These were comparable to figures found in patients on the verge of death," Windsor said.</span></p><p><span>Five miles above sea level the air has so little oxygen in it that even with supplementary air tanks, it can feel like "running on a treadmill and breathing through a straw," <a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=7aXaCwAAQBAJ&amp;pg=PA177&amp;lpg=PA177&amp;dq=%22running+on+a+treadmill+and+breathing+through+a+straw.%22&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=b4oy0FIVsJ&amp;sig=uyZBa8Dp2r3AqKv-iua9oRKMmuM&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwin6c_01sfcAhXDmeAKHYInDEsQ6AEwAHoECAAQAQ#v=onepage&amp;q=%22running%20on%20a%20treadmill%20and%20breathing%20through%20a%20straw.%22&amp;f=false">according to US mountaineer and filmmaker David Breashears</a>.</span></p><h2>Climbers need to acclimate themselves to the lack of oxygen, but doing so can put people at risk for a stroke or heart attack</h2><p><span>This lack of oxygen tends to result in myriad health risks. When the amount of oxygen in your blood falls below a certain level, your heart rate soars to up to 140 beats per minute, increasing your risk of a heart attack.</span></p><p>Climbers have to give their bodies time to acclimate to the lung-crushing conditions in the Himalayas before attempting to summit Everest. Expeditions generally make at least three trips up the mountain from Everest Base Camp (which is higher than nearly every mountain in Europe at 17,600 feet), going a few thousand feet higher with each successive trip, before making a push for the top.</p><p>Over the course of weeks, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/160000-year-old-jaw-from-human-ancestor-in-tibet-cave-2019-5">the body starts to make more hemoglobin</a> (the protein in red blood cells that helps carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body) in order to compensate for the change in altitude.</p><p>But too much hemoglobin can thicken your blood, making it harder for the heart to pump blood around the body. That can lead to a stroke or the accumulation of fluid in your lungs.</p><p><span>A quick stethoscope check can reveal a clicking sound as fluid that's leaked into the lungs rattles around - a condition called high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). <a href="https://www.princeton.edu/~oa/safety/altitude.shtml">Symptoms include</a> fatigue, a feeling of impending suffocation at night, weakness, and a persistent cough bringing up white, watery, or frothy fluid. Sometimes the coughing is so severe that it cracks or separates ribs.</span></p><p><span>Climbers with HAPE are always short of breath, even when resting. </span><span></span></p><h2>In the Death Zone, your brain can start to swell due to lack of oxygen, which can lead to nausea and a form of high-altitude psychosis</h2><p><span>One of the biggest risk factors at 26,000 feet is hypoxia, a lack of adequate oxygen circulation to organs like your brain. That's because acclimatization to Death Zone altitudes isn't possible, high altitude expert and doctor Peter Hackett <a href="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/transcripts/2506everest.html">told PBS</a>.</span></p><p><span>If your brain doesn't get enough oxygen, it can start to swell, causing high altitude cerebral edema (HACE), which is HAPE for the brain. This swelling can trigger nausea, vomiting, and difficulty thinking and reasoning.</span></p><p><span>An oxygen-starved brain means climbers sometimes forget where they are, </span><span>entering a delirium that some experts consider a form of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/high-altitude-climbers-psychosis-hallucinations-2018-1">high-altitude psychosis</a>. Hypoxic climbers' judgment becomes impaired, and they've been known to do strange things like start shedding their clothes or talking to imaginary friends.</span></p><h2><span>Other possible dangers include appetite loss, snow blindness, and vomiting</span></h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Lhakpa Sherpa</span></p><p class="caption">When climbing in the "Death Zone," your brain receives one-quarter of the oxygen it needs.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p><span>Impaired judgment and shortness of breath aren't the only things high-altitude climbers have to worry about. "Humans will start to deteriorate," Hackett added. "Sleeping becomes a problem. Muscle wasting takes place. Weight loss takes place."</span></p><p><span>Nausea and vomiting from altitude sickness, including HAPE and HACE, will cause a decrease in appetite. The glare from the endless snow and ice can cause snow blindness - temporary vision loss, or burst blood vessels in your eyes.</span></p><p><span>Some climbers are injured or perish from the indirect results of these high-altitude health problems. Physical weakening and impaired vision can lead to accidental falls. Incorrect decision-making - from exhaustion or lack of oxygen - can mean forgetting to clip back into a safety rope, or straying from the route, or failing to properly prepare life-saving equipment like supplementary oxygen tanks.</span></p><h2>Mountaineers survive the Death Zone by trying to climb it in a day, but people are currently stuck waiting for hours, which can be deadly</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Lhakpa Sherpa</span></p><p class="caption">Climbers can only spend 20 minutes on Everest's summit before having to descend.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>All told, climbing in the Death Zone is "a living hell," as Everest climber and 1998 NOVA expedition member David Carter <a href="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/transcripts/2506everest.html">told PBS</a>. </p><p>Typically, climbers attempting to bag the summit try and make it up and down in a single day of flurried activity, spending as little time as possible in the Death Zone before returning to safer altitudes. But this frenzied push to the finish line comes at the end of weeks of climbing, during one of the hardest parts of the route up. </p><p>Lhakpa Sherpa, who's reached Everest's summit nine times (more than any other woman on Earth) <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/everest-summit-described-by-womens-record-holder-2018-7">previously told Business Insider</a> that the day a group attempts to summit Everest is by far the most difficult section of the trek.</p><p>In order to summit successfully, everything must go right. Around 10 p.m., climbers leave their haven in Camp Four at 26,000 feet, just on the edge of the Death Zone. The first chunk of their climb is done wholly in the dark, lit by starlight and headlamps.</p><p>Seven hours later, typically, climbers reach the summit. After a brief rest filled with celebrations and photographs, the expeditions turn around, making the 12-hour trek back to safety and arriving (ideally) before nightfall.</p><p>But recently, expedition companies noted that the peak became <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mount-everest-picture-shows-why-climbers-dying-in-death-zone-2019-5">so choked with climbers</a> scrambling to the summit during a rare period of good weather that people were stuck waiting in the Death Zone for hours, leading some to collapse from exhaustion and die.</p><p>On May 22, when 250 climbers attempted to reach the mountain's summit, <a href="http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news/2019-05-23/despite-assurances-from-expeditions-and-government-a-traffic-jam-on-everest-kills-climbers-again.html">The Kathmandu Post reported</a>, many climbers had to wait in line to go up and down the mountain. What happens to your body in Mount Everest's 'Death Zone' where 11 people died in the past week

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>REUTERS/Stringer</span></p><p class="caption">An aerial picture shows smoke rising from the debris among shipping containers at the site of Wednesday night's explosions at Binhai new district in Tianjin, China, August 15, 2015.</p></div><p></p></div></div>TIANJIN, China (AP) - New small explosions rocked a disaster zone in the Chinese port of Tianjin on Saturday, as authorities pulled out an additional survivor and began evacuating the area to clean up chemical contamination nearly three days after massive explosions touched off the crisis.</p><p>Angry relatives of missing firefighters stormed a government news conference to demand any information on their loved ones, who have not been found since a fire and rapid succession of blasts late Wednesday at a warehouse for hazardous chemicals.</p><p>The death toll in the inferno in a mostly industrial area has climbed to 85, including 21 firefighters - making the disaster the deadliest for Chinese firefighters in more than six decades.</p><p>An unknown number of firefighters remain missing, and a total of 720 people were injured in the disaster in Tianjin, a key port and petrochemical hub about 120 kilometers (75 miles) east of Beijing.</p><p>The disaster has raised questions about whether dangerous chemicals were being stored too close to residential compounds, and whether firefighters may have triggered the blasts, possibly because they were unaware the warehouse contained chemicals combustible on contact with water. The massive explosions Wednesday happened about 40 minutes after reports of a fire at the warehouse and after an initial wave of firefighters arrived and, reportedly, doused some of the area with water.</p><p>Authorities on Saturday pulled out one survivor from a shipping container, state media reported. His identity was not immediately known. Television video showed the man being carried out on a sketcher by a group of soldiers wearing gas masks.</p><p>Authorities were keeping residents, journalists and other people not involved in the disaster response outside a 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) radius around the site of the explosions to carry out what media reports said was a clean-up of chemical contamination from sodium cyanide, a toxic chemical that becomes combustible on contact with water or even damp air.</p><p>Burning flames were spotted on Saturday, and explosions were reported by witnesses and state media.</p><p>In one case, heavy smoke from a fire engulfing several cars rose up as high as 10 meters (yards), accompanied by at least five explosions.</p><p>Police and military personnel manned checkpoints on roads leading to the blast sites, and helicopters were seen hovering in the overcast sky. The air had a metallic chemical smell, and there was uneasiness over rain forecasts, although it was warm and windy.</p><p>Meanwhile, family members of missing firefighters disrupted the latest news conference about the disaster, demanding to know whether their loved ones were still alive.</p><p>"(The authorities) didn't notify us at all," said Liu Huan, whose son Liu Chuntao has been missing since late Wednesday. "Our son is a firefighter, and there was a team of firefighters who lost contact. We couldn't contact him."</p><p>Liu Longwang said she had not heard a word on her son Liu Ziqiao, also a firefighter. "We are extremely worried," she said. "He's just turned 18."</p><p>State media reported that the casualties of the first three squads of firefighters to respond and of a neighborhood police station have not yet been fully determined, suggesting that the death toll could go up further.</p><p>Tianjin Fire Department head Zhou Tian said at a news conference Friday that the explosions occurred just as reinforcements had arrived on the scene and were getting to work. "There was no chance to escape, and that's why the casualties were so severe," he said. "We're now doing all we can to rescue the missing."</p><p>One surviving firefighter, 19-year-old Zhou Ti, was found Friday morning and taken to a hospital. Zhou Ti and Zhou Tian are unrelated.</p><p>Li Yonghan, a doctor at Teda Hospital, called Zhou's survival "miraculous" and said Zhou escaped death mainly because he was covered by his fallen comrades. Zhou had massive injuries, including burns and leg cuts.</p><p>From his hospital bed, Zhou told state broadcaster CCTV that the fire was spreading out of control. "I was knocked onto the ground at the first blast," recalled Zhou, his eyes swollen and closed. "I covered my head and don't know what happened after that."</p><p>Lin Yujie, who lives in a nearby residential complex, said when he initially heard the blasts Wednesday night he thought they were a massive air strike.</p><p>"It was just a sea of fire," Lin recalled. "We were really worried that there would be a second or third explosion and what we would do then."</p><p>As details of the blasts and the rescue efforts surface, members of the public have been raising questions about whether fire commanders had erred in prematurely sending firefighters into a highly dangerous zone and using water to put out flames on the site known to have stored a variety of hazardous chemicals, including sodium cyanide and calcium carbide, which become flammable on contact with water.</p><p>Local officials also have been hard-pressed to explain why authorities permitted hazardous goods warehouses so close to residential complexes and critical infrastructure, clearly in violation of the Chinese rule that hazmat storage should be 1,000 meters (yards) away from homes and public structures.</p><p>___</p><p>Associated Press videojournalists Paul Traynor and Peng Peng in Tianjin and writer Didi Tang in Beijing contributed to this report.</p>

More explosions have rocked a disaster zone in China

<p class="p1">Late last November, more than 100,000 Ukrainians filed into the streets of Kiev in response to President Viktor Yanukovych's rejection of trade agreements with the European Union. The protestors marched into <span>Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, </span>brandishing signs reading "Ukraine is Europe" and <span>European Union flags, and </span>refused to leave until the regime changed its tune. </p>
<p class="p1">Ukraine hasn't exactly been quiet over the last decade -in 2004, more than 500,000 Ukrainians gathered in Kiev to protest a disputed presidential election <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Revolution">in what has since become known as the Orange Revolution</a>.</p>
<p class="p1">The root of the current situation lies not in corruption but policy, as the president has moved toward a deal with Putin and Russia, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/ukraine-protests-what-you-need-to-know-2013-12">in place of the European Union agreement</a>. The protesters want Ukraine to be a part of the European Union. The Russia deal moves them further away from that.</p>
<p class="p1">Since the protests began in November, the number of protesters has swelled at times up to 800,000 people and occasionally turned violent. Over the last several days, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/stunning-photos-show-chaos-and-violence-at-ukraine-protests-2014-1">protests have exploded into a full blown riot</a>, with at <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/23/world/europe/ukraine-protests.html">least two people shot dead</a>.</p>

(AP) - President Donald Trump's two grown sons arrived at this tranquil, rural upstate New York hamlet with a bang.</p><p>A company tied to Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump owns a 171-acre hunting preserve that is being used as a private shooting range, where the sound of rifle fire from a wooden tower and exploding targets has riled nearby residents, neighbors told The Associated Press.</p><p>One neighbor complained that it rattles the windows of his home; another said it ruins the serenity of the surrounding woods. A third confronted the property's representative over the summer.</p><p>"It's like you're in a war zone," said Elisabetta Berghold, who lives on 42 acres down the road from the Trumps' land.</p><p>Neighbors said that while they knew there would be occasional rifle fire from deer hunting on the property, the thunderous noise from target practice on a stretch of land closest to other neighbors was unexpected and unwelcome.</p><p>"It's bad. It shakes the windows," said neighbor Mike Dougherty.</p><p>Four neighbors interviewed by the AP described the shooting. All said it had become less frequent in recent months but peaked on summer weekends.</p><p>The de facto shooting range is located on a strip of land on the easternmost border of the Trumps' property, an easement that was cleared of trees years ago for an AT&amp;T Inc. cable. A wooden tower on that stretch is visible from the public road.</p><p>The Trumps appear to have acquired the property via limited liability companies that contain some version of the property's address in their names but do not reveal the Trumps' connections. LLCs are often used to buy property or conduct business in ways that obscure the people behind the transactions.</p><p>The entity that purchased the land in 2013, Leather Hill Preserve LLC, lists its agent as a Manhattan company that provides registration services to LLCs across the country.</p><p>Incorporation records filed with the state show that the LLC's articles of organization were filed by a Trump Organization executive based out of Trump Tower and that Trump Jr. designated himself in July 2013 as the company's authorized person. In disclosure reports filed with New York City and obtained by the AP under a public records request, Trump Jr. lists himself as the owner of "DT Leather Hill Road LLC" and Eric Trump lists himself as the owner of "194 Leather Hill Road LLC."</p><p>A money manager from Connecticut, Jeffrey Ferraro, is listed as the company's organizer and in sales records as a representative for the LLC. He was a state delegate at the Republican National Convention in July 2016 and appears with Eric Trump in a photo posted on his Facebook page.</p><p>Neither the Trump Organization's spokeswoman nor its general counsel acknowledged requests to discuss the property. An email to Trump Jr. about the property was not returned.</p><h2>Neighborly disputes</h2><p>Berghold, an active Democrat and no fan of the president, said that after she confronted Ferraro on July 3, he apologized and said they would keep down the noise. Ferraro would not discuss whether Secret Service agents shoot on the property.</p><p>Ferraro obtained a license from the state's Department of Environmental Conservation granting the property the right to act as a noncommercial shooting preserve for invited guests and relatives only. The license is set to expire in April.</p><p>Ferraro said he was the primary person in charge of the company that owns the land. He would not discuss how he knows the Trumps or their ownership of the property and would not discuss the use of exploding targets. He said there was no shooting range on the land and said no one has visited the tract without him being there.</p><p>"Who I bring and what I do on my private property, as long as it's within my legal rights, is not a story for anyone," he said. He called the Trumps "private citizens just like anyone else."</p><p>"You're not asking me about other guests who are up there who are better known than the names you mention," he said, but declined to elaborate. "Guns make noise. That's all I can tell you."</p><p>No complaints about the property have been lodged with the Town of Dover, which governs the hamlet of Wingdale, said Donn Andersen, the town's building inspector. He said there was nothing in the town code governing the use of exploding targets, and the tower wouldn't require a permit since it's not occupied. The chapter of the town's code on noise makes no mention of guns, shooting or target practice.</p><p>The Trumps have deep ties to Dutchess County, a red-leaning part of the state in the bucolic Hudson Valley that voted narrowly for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. The president's brother, Robert, lives in nearby Millbrook and the family business owns and operates the Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Hopewell Junction.</p><h2>Secondhand sightings of Eric and Don, Jr.</h2><p>Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are avid hunters and fishermen, but their presence in the tightknit upstate community has become known only through the rumor mill. Ferraro, not the Trumps, introduced himself to neighbors when the property was acquired in 2013, though one neighbor met Trump Jr. after the election, neighbors said. Dougherty said he has seen a white Range Rover with Eric Trump's initials on the license plates drive to the property on days when there is loud shooting.</p><p>Others said that since the presidential campaign, it was clear the Trumps were around because they were accompanied by Secret Service agents traveling in black SUVs.</p><p>The property sits at the end of a dirt-packed road in Wingdale where a metal gate stops uninvited guests. Eric and Donald Trump, Jr. own a massive private hunting preserve in upstate New York - and neighbors say it sounds like a 'war zone'

<p>But it was not immediately clear whether the objects were related to the three-week-old investigation, and the second day of searching in the area ended with no evidence found of the jet, officials said.</p>
<p>The Chinese Ilyushin IL-76 spotted three floating objects, <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/world/china" title="More from the Guardian on China">China</a>'s official Xinhua news agency said, a day after several planes and ships combing the newly targeted area closer to <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/world/australia" title="More from the Guardian on Australia">Australia</a> saw several other objects.</p>
<p>Ships from China and Australia scooped up items described only as "objects from the ocean", but none were confirmed to be related to Flight 370, said a statement from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, which is overseeing the search.</p>
<p>Relatives and friends of the passengers said they were tortured by the uncertainty over the fate of their loved ones, as they wait for hard evidence that the plane crashed.</p>
<p>"This is the trauma of maybe he's dead, maybe he's not. Maybe he's still alive and we need to find him. Maybe he died within the first hour of the flight, and we don't know," Sarah Bajc, the American girlfriend of US passenger Philip Wood, said in Beijing.</p>
<p>"I mean, there's absolutely no way for me to reconcile that in my heart," she said.</p>
<p>The three objects spotted by the Chinese plane on Saturday were white, red and orange in colour, the Xinhua report said. The missing Boeing 777's exterior was red, white, blue and gray.</p>
<p>An Australian PC3 Orion search plane also sighted objects in a different part of the search area, but the maritime safety authority did not describe those objects in greater detail.</p>
<p>An image captured a day earlier by a New Zealand plane showed a white rectangular object floating in the sea, but it was not clear whether it was related to the missing jet or was just rubbish.</p>
<p>Flight 370 disappeared on the 8 March while bound from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, and investigators have been puzzled over what happened on board the plane, with speculation ranging from equipment failure and a botched hijacking to terrorism or an act by one of the pilots.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Jason Lee/Reuters</span></p><p class="caption">A relative of a passenger on the missing flight cries during a routine conference</p></div><p></p></div></div></p>
<p>The latter was fuelled by reports that the pilot's home flight simulator had files deleted from it, but the Malaysian defence minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, said checks, including one by the FBI, had turned up no new information.</p>
<p>"What I know is that there is nothing sinister from the simulators, but of course that will have to be confirmed by the chief of police," he said.</p>
<p>Newly analysed satellite data shifted the search zone on Friday, raising expectations that searchers may be closer to getting physical evidence that the plane crashed in the Indian Ocean with 239 people aboard.</p>
<p>That would also help narrow the hunt for the wreckage and the plane's black boxes, which could contain clues to what caused the plane to be so far off-course.</p>
<p>The US navy has already sent equipment that can detect pings from the back boxes, and the Australian prime minister, Tony Abbott, told reporters in Sydney that the equipment would be put on an Australian naval ship soon.</p>
<p>"It will be taken to the most prospective search area and if there is good reason to deploy it, it will be deployed," he said, without giving a time frame. Other officials have said it could take days for the ship - the Ocean Shield - to reach the search area.</p>
<p>The newly targeted zone is nearly 1,130km (700 miles) north-east of sites the searchers have crisscrossed for the past week. The redeployment came after analysts determined that the Boeing 777 may have been travelling faster than earlier estimates and would therefore have run out of fuel sooner.</p>
<p>The new search area is closer to Perth than the previous one, with a flying time of two-and-a-falf hours each way, allowing for five hours of search time, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.</p>
<p>AMSA said five P3 Orions - three from Australia and one each from Japan and New Zealand - plus a Japanese coastguard jet, the Chinese Ilyushin IL-76, and one civilian jet acting as a communications relay took part on Saturday.</p>
<p>"The weather in the area was reasonably good - most of the area we were able to see four or five kilometres or more," Royal Australian Air Force Flight Leiutenant. Russell Adams said. "The sea state was up, however, which meant there were quite a few whitecaps in the area so the crew would have had a bit of difficulty discerning between objects in the water and the whitecaps, so it made it hard for the guys today."</p>
<p>Some family members in Beijing said they want to fly to Kuala Lumpur to seek more answers from the government, but an airline representative said it may have to wait a day because of a lack of hotel space this weekend because of the Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix race on Sunday.</p>
<p>Steve Wang, a representative of some of the Chinese families in Beijing, said about 50 relatives wanted to go to Malaysia because they were not happy with the responses given by Malaysian government representatives in China.</p>
<p>"Because they sent a so-called high-level group to meet us, but they have not been able to answer all our questions," he said. "It's either they are not in charge of a certain aspect of work or that it's still being investigated, or it's not convenient for them to comment."</p>
<p>Malaysia Airlines' commercial director, Hugh Dunleavy, said on Saturday in Beijing that the airline was trying to facilitate the relatives' travel to Kuala Lumpur, but that plans had not been confirmed because of the difficulties in booking hotels this weekend.</p>
<p>If investigators can determine that the plane went down in the newly targeted zone - which spans about 319,000 sq km (123,000 square miles) - recovery of its flight data and cockpit voice recorders could be complicated.</p>
<p>Much of the sea floor in the area is about 2,000 metres (6,600 feet) below the surface, but depths may reach a maximum of about 6,000 metres (19,700 feet) at its easternmost edge.</p>
<p>The hunt for the plane focused first on the Gulf of Thailand, along the plane's planned path. But when radar data showed it had veered sharply west, the search moved to the Andaman Sea, off the western coast of Malaysia, before pivoting to the southern Indian Ocean, south-west of Australia.</p>

North Korea sends new wave of up to 720 trash-filled balloons into South Korea

Cairo, Jul 15 (AP) Over the course of Yemen's civil war, African migrants determined to reach oil-rich Saudi Arabia have endured unspeakable cruelties - torture, rape, detention, extortion - often perilously close to front lines. <p>Now, the coronavirus pandemic has dealt yet another blow to vulnerable migrants caught in Yemen's war zone. </p><p>Stigmatized as carriers of COVID-19, over 14,500 migrants, mostly Ethiopian, have been relentlessly hounded, rounded up and sent packing to different provinces, the U.N. migration agency reported on Tuesday. They remain stranded without adequate food, water or shelter. </p><p>"For nearly six years, Yemen has been an extremely unsafe place to be a migrant," Paul Dillon, spokesman for the International Organization for Migration told reporters in Geneva. </p><p> "COVID-19 has made this situation worse; migrants are scapegoated as carriers of the virus and as a result, suffer exclusion and violence." </p><p> Last year, over 138,000 migrants desperate to find jobs as housekeepers, servants and construction workers in Saudi Arabia embarked on the arduous journey from the Horn of Africa to Yemen, according to IOM. </p><p> Ethiopians traverse hundreds of miles from their home villages through countries like Djibouti or Somalia, then across the sea and through war-torn Yemen. In many cases, migrants are at the mercy of smugglers who may imprison and torture them, leave them stranded on the route or sell them into virtual slave labour. </p><p>But this spring that traffic came to a grinding halt, as countries closed their borders to contain the virus' spread. Movement restrictions curbed migrant arrivals in Yemen by 90%, IOM reported, while leaving the tens of thousands of Ethiopians in the country trapped in limbo. </p><p>With transportation between provinces at a standstill, thousands of migrants, blamed for spreading the virus, have been bussed from their makeshift homes and dumped in different provinces. </p><p> At least 4,000 are stranded in the southern government-held city of Aden and 7,000 in the rebel stronghold of Saada, among other places, the IOM said. </p><p>The agency did not specify which authorities, whether Iran-allied rebel Houthis that control much of the country's north or Saudi-backed government forces, were responsible for the forcible transfers. </p><p>Saudi Arabia, which has struggled to contain a major outbreak of COVID-19, has continued its long-standing practice of expelling migrants who manage to make it into the kingdom. As of mid-April, Saudi Arabia had deported nearly 2,900 Ethiopians due to the pandemic, IOM reported at the time, and another 250 deportations were planned each day over the weeks that followed. </p><p>In May, Houthi authorities accused Saudi Arabia of deporting 800 Somali migrants and dumping them at the desert border. </p><p>On top of being deported and transferred against their will, migrants have been verbally and physically harassed as a result of mounting virus fears in Yemen, the agency added. </p><p>Although government authorities have recorded no more than 1,516 infections and 429 deaths as of Tuesday, aid workers and doctors say the virus is surging across the country and overwhelming a health system already in shambles after five years of war between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition backing Yemen's government. </p><p> Long before the pandemic, the U.N. labelled Yemen the world's worst humanitarian crisis. </p><p>Migrants, many who sleep outdoors, in abandoned buildings or in squalid detention centers without access to medical care, are particularly vulnerable to infection, Dillon warned. </p><p>"There's no access to some of the basics that one would need to address public health concerns such as COVID-19," he said. </p><p>The Houthis have suppressed all information about the outbreak and refused to make infection figures public since they reported just four cases in May. </p>The first and only person the Houthi health ministry has confirmed dead from the virus is a Somali man. Some experts say North Korea wants to show to the US what would happen if diplomacy fails again.</p><p>The Korean Central News Agency said the test of the Pukguksong-3 missile in the waters off its east coast was successful and "ushered in a new phase in containing the outside forces' threat to (North Korea) and further bolstering its military muscle for self-defense."</p><p>It didn't say which outside forces threaten its security. But North Korea has previously said it was forced to develop nuclear-armed missiles to cope with US military threats.</p><p>The US <keyword id="6354810" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="defense">Defense</keyword> Department in a statement said it was monitoring the situation and that it will be "consulting closely with our South Korean and Japanese allies."</p><p>North Korean and US officials are to meet on Saturday to restart diplomacy on how to end the North Korean nuclear crisis. A year later, the North test-launched a Pukguksong-2, a land-based variant of the missile.</p><p>North Korea having an ability to fire a missile from a submarine is a threat to the United States and its allies because such launches are harder to detect early enough to respond. The use of solid fuel also increases a weapon's mobility.</p><p>After Wednesday's launch, the US State Department called on North Korea "to refrain from provocations, abide by their obligations under U.N. North Korea claims its 'significant' submarine-launched missile test succeeded

<p class="source"><span>AP Photo/Steve Luciano</span></p><p class="caption">NFL cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Darrelle Revis feuded on social media after the San Francisco 49ers won the NFC Championship.</p><ul class="summary-list"><li>The Kansas City Chiefs took down the San Francisco 49ers in an impressive 31-20 come-from-behind victory to secure the franchise's first Super Bowl victory in 50 years.</li><li>San Francisco cornerback Richard Sherman noticeably struggled to cover Kansas City receivers throughout Sunday game.</li><li>The five-time Pro Bowler's rough showing came just weeks removed from his public feud with New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis.</li><li>NFL fans - and Revis himself - took to Twitter to mock Sherman for his performance in the 49ers' losing effort.</li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/super-bowl-2020">Read more of Business Insider's Super Bowl 2020 coverage here.</a></li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/?hprecirc-bullet">Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</li></ul><p>The San Francisco 49ers blew a 10-point fourth-quarter lead to lose Super Bowl LIV in heartbreaking fashion.</p><p>Five-time Pro Bowler Richard Sherman certainly did not help his team's effort.</p><p>The notorious smack talker and esteemed cornerback blew coverage on key plays and struggled to contain Kansas City Chiefs receivers during Sunday night's contest.</p><p>Kansas City wide receiver Tyreek Hill exposed Sherman early in the game. On first-and-10 with the ball on San Francisco's 36, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hit Cheetah with Sherman on his tail. But instead of getting wrapped up, Hill dropped Sherman on the fake and jolted forward for an extra few yards.</p><p>Then, with the 49ers trailing by four with 3:44 remaining in the game, Kansas City wide receiver Sammy Watkins danced Sherman right out of his cleats and left him in the dust for a 38-yard catch. The reception put the Chiefs in the red zone and in prime position to put the game out of reach for San Francisco.</p><p>And, three snaps later, they did just that. Quarterback and eventual Super Bowl LIV MVP Patrick Mahomes found running back Damien Williams for a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/video-damien-williams-touchdown-chiefs-super-bowl-review-2020-2">five-yard touchdown pass that stood after an extensive review</a>.</p><p>And guess who was covering Williams.</p><p>The still of Sherman diving and missing Williams on the goal line is even more damning.</p><p class="source"><span>AP Photo/Steve Luciano</span></p><p class="caption">San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman fails to keep Damien Williams out of the end zone.</p><p>After the game, Sherman acknowledged his disappointing performance with a tweet and promised to "fix that" for the future.</p><p>Still, Sherman took some heat from San Francisco fans and doubters alike on social media, especially because the NFL veteran had exchanged some confrontational words with former New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis after the 49ers' NFC Championship victory two weeks prior.</p><p>In a tweet sent on January 20 that has since been deleted, Revis accused Sherman of showing "fear of getting beat in man-to-man coverage."</p><p>"Every snap every play," he wrote. "The fact that he doesn't travel as a cornerback is lame. Except the challenge as the best and shut Adams down the entire game. Do it for the game of football. Stop hiding a cover 3 zone."</p><p>At the time, Sherman all but ended the discussion by announcing that he couldn't engage because he had "a Super Bowl to prepare for."</p><p>Revis responded by defending his objectively impressive ninth year in the NFL:</p><p>The two cornerbacks exchanged a few more Twitter blows from there before the conversation petered out. On March 13, New York opened the state's first drive-through coronavirus testing site in the town of New Rochelle.</p><p>Located in Westchester County, the town is part of a one-mile containment zone <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/new-york-state-of-emergency-cuomo-address-coronavirus-outbreak-2020-3">that has the highest number of New York's reported cases to date</a>.</p><p>The new site will allow medical workers to safely test patients, who can drive through one of six lanes and stay in their cars while getting tested using a nasal swab. <a href="https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-opens-states-first-drive-through-covid-19-mobile-testing-center-new-rochelle-0">Priority will be given</a> to local residents and those with the highest risk, such as seniors citizens and people with compromised immune systems. </p><p>The efforts aim to address the delays faced by people trying to get tested as <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-coronavirus-testing-problems-timeline-2020-3">US coronavirus testing capacity</a> slowly ramps up, and the number of reported cases continues to rise. </p><p>"This is a very creative way of testing. It's something I didn't hear of last week but that we're doing this week," Governor Andrew Cuomo said during a press conference.
