Aditya Chopra-run Yash Raj Films (YRF) is no different. Taking a break from tradition, YRF Talent has, for the first time, signed on Sonam Kapoor, an actor whom they did not launch. Kapoor’s return to films after becoming a mother will begin with two tentpole projects, details of which are currently under wraps. Kapoor became a mother in August 2022 and is now ready to chart her return to tinsel town. Typically a tentpole is a studio definition of a film project that entails very low financial risk compared to other films from the studio’s slate. Tentpole projects are more inclusive and typically are culturally more relatable. These films are also designed to appeal to consumers across genders and age groups. Given that Kapoor’s appeal is not just as an actor but also as a fashion icon, YRF will look at projects that can easily link all these aspects of her personality. As a studio, <keyword id="12077027" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="yashraj-films" source="Orion">Yashraj Films</keyword> is identified for the mega blockbusters that it churns out almost every year. Pathaan was among the highest- grossing films of 2023 with collections of over ₹1,000 crore. We are delighted to on-board her as an artist that we will manage exclusively and curate her brand strategy globally.” YRF is known to launch its own talent, which is why the signing of Kapoor is a departure from its strategy of building homegrown talent. Kapoor is the first actress YRF has signed, whom the studio did not launch. YRF has launched actors like Ranveer Singh and <keyword id="6357860" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="anushka-sharma" source="Orion">Anushka Sharma</keyword>. With this deal, Bollywood star Kapoor will be exclusively managed by the boutique agency YRF Talent. Sonam Kapoor plans to return to Bollywood with two films after signing up with YRF Talent

The <keyword id="48485" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bombay-high-court" source="Orion">Bombay High Court</keyword> on Thursday refused relief to actor <keyword id="6357860" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="anushka-sharma" source="Orion">Anushka Sharma</keyword> and disposed of her petitions challenging orders passed by the state Sales Tax department demanding tax for assessment years between 2012 to 2016 under the <keyword id="16042124" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maharashtra-value-added-tax-act" source="Orion">Maharashtra Value Added Tax Act</keyword>. A division bench of <keyword id="9774337" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="justices-nitin-jamdar" source="Orion">Justices Nitin Jamdar</keyword> and <keyword id="9265938" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="abhay-ahuja" source="Orion">Abhay Ahuja</keyword> said the actor had the alternate remedy of filing appeal against the orders under provisions of <keyword id="601688" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maharashtra-value-added-tax" source="Orion">Maharashtra Value Added Tax</keyword> (MVAT) Act. <keyword id="445" type="General" weightage="90" keywordseo="sharma" source="Orion">Sharma</keyword> had filed four petitions challenging four orders passed by the Sales Tax department levying tax for assessment years 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 under the Act. "Why should we entertain the petitions when the petitioner (Sharma) has a full fledged remedy of appeal available under the Act? Statutory provision is available," the bench said. The court, while disposing of Sharma's petitions, directed her to file appeal before the Deputy Commissioner of Sales Tax (Appeals) within a period of four weeks. Under the Act, when a person files appeal, he or she will have to deposit 10 per cent of the tax amount levied by the department. As per the Sales Tax department, Sharma was the "first owner of copyrights" on her performances at awards functions or stage shows, and, therefore, liable to pay sales tax when she received income from them. As she "transferred" this <keyword id="15456337" type="TOPIC" weightage="60" keywordseo="Copyright" source="TOPIC" sourcekeytype="business,investopedia" meta.keywordsubtype="null" meta.msid="92982198" meta.seopath="c/copyright" meta.entityname="Copyright" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="copyright">copyright</keyword> to the producers of such events for a fee, it was akin to a sale, the Sales Tax department contended. Sharma's contention is an actor who performs in a film, advertisement or a stage/TV show cannot be called a creator or producer, and, hence, she or he does not own a copyright on the same. The court said all the issues raised by Sharma in her petitions can be decided by the appellate authority. "The authority will go into all the issues and conduct a detailed inquiry. If we sit to decide this, then every <keyword id="16987535" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mvat-act" source="Orion">MVAT Act</keyword> matter will come here," the court said. The department had sought for the petitions to be dismissed and cost be imposed on Sharma as she had an alternate remedy available under the MVAT Act. According to Sharma's petitions, during the concerned period she performed in films and at award ceremonies as part of a tri-party agreement with her agent <keyword id="15841112" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="yashraj-films-pvt-ltd" source="Orion">Yashraj Films Pvt Ltd</keyword> and producers/event organisers. The assessing officer levied sales tax not on film consideration but on product endorsements and anchoring at award functions, holding that Sharma had transferred her performer's rights, her petitions said. For Assessment Year 2012-13, the sales tax demand, inclusive of interest, was Rs 1.2 crore on Rs 12.3 crore consideration and for 2013-14, it was Rs 1.6 crore on a consideration of Rs 17 crore. The sales tax department passed the orders between 2021 and 2022. Sharma is known for her roles in films like "PK", "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", "Sultan" and "Zero", among others. Anushka Sharma gets no relief from Bombay HC on pleas against sales tax demand

Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma-starrer Bollywood movie ‘<keyword id="6355056" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sultan">Sultan</keyword>’ released today and Twitter has already become its fan. 
 
The movie, which is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, produced by Aditya Chopra and also stars Randeep Hooda, revolved around a wrestler ‘Sultan’, played by Salman, whose arrogance after an Olympic win costs him personally as well as professionally. 
 
Sultan’s story also revolves around how a wrester from a tiny village of Haryana state makes it big in the sport due to his grit and determination. There is also a love-angle in the story in which Anushka is playing a pivotal role, who is also a wrestler in the movie. 
 
The duration of the movie is 2 hours, 50 minutes and has Twitter singing for it.

Indian cricketer <a href="http://Are Virat and Anushka getting back together, or they never really broke up in the first place?">Virat Kohli </a>and Bollywood actress <keyword id="6357860" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anushka-Sharma">Anushka Sharma</keyword>, both 27, who were reported to have broken up a few months back, were seen dining together at an upscale Mumbai restaurant last night. This news has grabbed the eyeballs of everyone in the country, either for good reasons or bad.

He said in his post on Instagram that Anushka had always showered him with positivity. This is exactly the reason why Virat calls these online trolls uneducated and uncompassionate. 
 
The long post on his social media handles had garnered a lot of attention, not only because of the hard-hitting words that the angry young man had used, but also because nowhere in the post did Virat use past tense, forcing people to think that he still is very much in love with Anushka.

“If anything she has only motivated and given me more positivity.” [sic] 
 
Now, Virat proved that he is a gentleman by standing up for a lady in distress, but had they actually broken up, wouldn’t the sentence require a few more ‘hads’ and ‘gaves’? 
 
It’s quite possible that Virat and Anushka, both of whom are known to be private people, decided to take some time off each other, like many other couples with strenuous work commitments. Superstar <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword>'s "<keyword id="6355056" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sultan">Sultan</keyword>" has opened to a bumper response at the box office today and industry experts predict it will do a business of Rs 150 crore over the five-day weekend. 
 
The much awaited Eid release of the year features Salman as a Haryanvi wrestler. 
 
"The film is doing extra ordinary business across the country. The opening is like hurricane. Everyone is loving it, be it the story, the songs and Salman of course is a treat to watch in 'Sultan'," distributor Akshay Rathi told PTI. 
 
"The film is doing exceptionally well in North India like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab," he said. 
 
"Today I think it will collect Rs 35 crore. Tomorrow is Eid and then Tomorrow is Eid and then there is extended weekend so it will be somewhere around Rs 130-150 crore," he added. 
 
Another film distributor, Rajesh Thadani said, "The film has opened really well as expected. It will make record breaking collection in its weekend which will be around Rs 150 crore." 
 Both Rathi and Thadani feel even though "Sultan" leaked online, it will not affect the business of the "<keyword id="94964" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dabangg">Dabangg</keyword>" star's film. 
 
Manoj Desai, executive director, Gaiety Galaxy and Maratha Mandir Cinema, says the audience's reactions to the film have been electrifying, but noted that as Eid is tomorrow, the collections have been affected. 
 
"The word-of-mouth for the film is exceptional. Our 1000-seater theatres are almost full, people are clapping and whistling. But since Eid is tomorrow, it has affected the business. Other than that, everything is going great for the film," Desai said. 
 
The Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film has opened well at single screens and multiplexes, with ticket pricing at Desai's theatre properties being at Rs 100-120, while that at the multiplexes it ranges anywhere from Rs 300 to above Rs 500.

Salman Khan's Sultan will collect Rs 150 crores over the five day weekend, predict experts

He said that most of the fights in the film are real, shot without cables and with real wrestlers. 
 
"When Ali narrated the story to me, I thought I'll be able to do it. But then while shooting, I noticed that there were real wrestlers opposite me and not fighters. Most of the shots in the film are real with wrestlers and Mixed Martial Arts. There are no cables and because of them, there is lot of contact happening in the film. When they lift you and put you on the ground, it used to hurt. They were of 120-130 kilos," Salman said at the trailer launch of <keyword id="6355056" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sultan">Sultan</keyword>. 
 
"They expect you to pick them up and throw them down. That was the most difficult part. When a wrestler trains you, he trains for two or three hours and then two or three hours again in the evening. After that, training for MMA and shooting every day non-stop for six or seven hours, fighting non-stop was really difficult. So those six hours amidst lights and training used to take a toll on me," he added. 
 
The actor plays the titular role in the film, a wrestler, who wins the gold medal for India in wrestling. But in a certain turn of events which are somewhat not clear, Sultan quits wrestling only to revive after a sabbatical, when age and an unfit body are hurdles in front of him. At that time he is coached by Randeep Hooda in MMA and reaches the big stage. 
 
When asked if his role is inspired from a real-life character, Khan was quick to reply. 
 
 
"No, it's not from anywhere. This is from his (Ali Abbas Zafar) mind. It is the story of an underdog," he said. 
 
Sultan will release on Eid.

 A year later, <keyword id="2187757" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Suzy">Suzy</keyword>, the three-year old Salman fan bagged a role in Khan’s upcoming release <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sultan&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">‘Sultan’</a> and reportedly plays a younger <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=anushka+sharma&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Anushka Sharma </a>in the film. 
 While the internet literally couldn’t contain their excitement over how adorable Suzy was, <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword> on the other hand, not only replied to his little fan but also met her. 
 They bonded pretty quickly and Suzy became a frequent visitor on the sets of ‘<keyword id="6355056" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sultan">Sultan</keyword>’ during which he observed that she resembled <keyword id="6357860" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anushka-Sharma">Anushka Sharma</keyword>, the leading actress of the film to a large extent and would infact be perfect for the role of the latter’s younger version. 
 
And, that was it. Suzy was on board the film as younger Anushka and the original choice was replaced!

In Sultan, the macho actor plays a wrestler from Haryana; for this role, the actor trained under The Hunger Games fame fight choreographer <keyword id="3238595" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Larnell-Stoval">Larnell Stoval</keyword>. Now that one phase of the shooting is over, it was the request of the script for our Sultan to let go of his moustache, to which the actor gladly obliged. 
 
The actor took to microblogging site Twitter to share his clean shaven look, while tagging the Twitter account of the movie.

Reportedly, even Anushka Sharma would be undergoing tough training for the movie and would sport a realistic avatar for her role as a female wrestler in the movie. Here's what India searched on Google in 2016

After <keyword id="7929" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anurag-Kashyap">Anurag Kashyap</keyword>'s '<keyword id="6356850" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Udta-Punjab">Udta Punjab</keyword>' was leaked last month, piracy organisations have allegedly leaked the most awaited movie of the year, Salman Khan-Anushka Sharma-starrer '<keyword id="6355056" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sultan">Sultan</keyword>.' 
 
The 'Sultan' leak came just a day before the movie hits theatres in over 4500 screens across India. 
 
Confirming the news, cyber-crime expert, Deep Shankar was quoted in reports as saying that the copy of the movie is available on the darknet and will soon be available on torrent. Another crime investigator, Kishlay Chaudhary has reportedly claimed that the 2 hours 36 minute-long movie is available online and has also shared various screenshots of the same with media houses. He also said that many websites have been blocked since Tuesday and links have been removed immediately after upload. 
 
However, Yash Raj Films has denied any information about the leak. Some cyber experts also allege that there are no active links to the movie and that the trailer was morphed and circulated on social media platforms. 
 
This is the second film which has been leaked this week, the first one being Indra Kumar's 'Great Grand Masti' starring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and Urvashi Rautela. 
 
The movie's Censor Board copy was leaked online three days ago. The film's management team is reportedly working hard to remove the links, and even tweets and Facebook links sharing the same are being taken down. The movie was leaked 17 days before its release and is reported to have faced monetary losses as a result. 
 
No formal complaints have been filed by the makers of either movie yet.

However, the It End With Us star, some of her co-stars and even her husband Ryan Reynolds were seen engaging in antics that gave us what can only be described as second-hand embarrassment. Unsurprisingly, this has attracted plenty of social media backlash. Emphasising on wearing floral attire and even promoting her business line during the movie’s promotions could somehow be tolerated, but the fact that Lively made little to no effort to talk about the film's serious themes rubbed many the wrong way. As the star of Chhapaak, a film about the real-life struggles of an acid attack survivor, Deepika’s decision to promote the movie with an acid attack "makeup challenge" on TikTok was widely condemned. Critics felt it trivialised the trauma faced by victims of such attacks. <h2>2. Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani promoting <keyword id="511715" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kabir-singh" source="Orion">Kabir Singh</keyword> </h2>The protagonist Kabir Singh was hardly a stellar example of manhood. And despite the film’s success, the movie was criticised for glorifying toxic masculinity and abusive behaviour. But Shahid and Kiara’s promotional efforts often sidestepped these critical conversations, focusing instead on the film's romantic aspects, drawing ire for downplaying its problematic themes. It is worth noting that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga said the following when Anupama Chopra asked him about the violence depicted in the film: “'If you can't touch your woman, wherever you want, and if you can't slap, you can't kiss, you can't use cuss words. I don't see the emotion there.” <h2>3. <keyword id="6354583" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="salman-khan" source="Orion">Salman Khan</keyword>’s rape comment during Sultan</h2>While promoting Sultan, Salman Khan faced backlash for comparing his grueling training regimen to feeling like a "raped woman." His tone-deaf comment caused outrage, highlighting the insensitivity often shown by stars when discussing serious issues. In fact, his co-star in the film, Anushka Sharma, also went on to call his comment insensitive. <h2>4. Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor on feminism during Veere Di Wedding</h2>When asked if she was a feminist, Kareena Kapoor said she wasn’t and that she believed in equality (???). Sonam responded to this with a supportive “woohoo!” (???). Veere Di Wedding was, by no means, a serious film. Critics argued that encouraging children to enact scenes depicting an adult's traumatic life undermined the film's more serious undertones. <h2>6. Nitesh Tiwari’s holocaust reference during Bawaal</h2>The director of Bawaal, Nitesh Tiwari, faced backlash for making insensitive references to the Holocaust during the movie's promotions. The comparison of a love story to one of history's most tragic genocides was seen as distasteful and out of place. <h2>7. Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol promoting Animal</h2>Another of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial films, Animal delves into violent and darker themes. However, Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol's casual promotional strategies failed to address the film’s more serious and potentially triggering content, sparking concerns about glamorising violence without a critical conversation. Rashmika Mandana, thankfully, remained mostly silent. <h2>8. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ Holi promotion for The White Tiger</h2>While promoting The White Tiger, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas posted photos of them celebrating Holi. The timing of this promotion, during the COVID-19 pandemic when many were restricted from celebrating due to health protocols, was seen as insensitive, especially since it involved large gatherings. <h2>9. Kangana Ranaut’s Tweets during Thalaivii </h2>During the promotions of Thalaivii, a biopic on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Kangana Ranaut sparked controversies with political and inflammatory tweets. While the film focused on Jayalalithaa’s legacy, her promotional tactics often shifted the conversation to unrelated political discourse, detracting from the film's message. These instances highlight how even well-intentioned promotions can backfire when celebrities fail to align their messaging with the gravity of the subject matter.
