New Delhi, The government on Wednesday announced hiking the <keyword id="20069652" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sugarcane" source="keywords">sugarcane</keyword> <keyword id="20544473" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="frp" source="keywords">FRP</keyword> by Rs 25 to Rs 340 per quintal for the 2024-25 season starting October. Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) is the minimum price that mills have to pay to sugarcane growers. The decision to increase the FRP of sugarcane was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword>. The Rs 25 per quintal hike is the highest by the Modi government and the move comes ahead of the general elections. Sugarcane is grown mainly in Maharashtra, <keyword id="19894922" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh" source="keywords">Uttar Pradesh</keyword>, and Karnataka. "Keeping in view interest of sugarcane farmers (GannaKisan), the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for sugar season 2024-25 (October - September) at Rs 340 per quintal for a basic recovery rate of 10.25 per cent," I&amp;B Minister <keyword id="19895497" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="anurag-thakur" source="keywords">Anurag Thakur</keyword> said at a media briefing. The FRP has been determined on the basis of recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and after consultation with state governments and other stakeholders.

Sachin Tendulkar, Anurag Thakur laud Indian women's hockey team for Asian Champions Trophy win

The Union <keyword id="6355513" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cabinet" source="Orion">Cabinet</keyword> on Wednesday approved a four per cent increase in <keyword id="6429991" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="dearness-allowance" source="Orion">Dearness Allowance</keyword> (DA) for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners. Briefing reporters about the decisions of the union cabinet, Information and Broadcasting Minister <keyword id="6364468" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="anurag-thakur" source="Orion">Anurag Thakur</keyword> said the decision will be implemented from July 1 this year. "Dearness Allowance for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners has been increased by 4%. The <keyword id="663200" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="DA-hike" source="Orion">DA hike</keyword> will be implemented from 1, July 2023," he said. The decision will benefit 48.67 lakh Central Government Employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. The minister said the decision has come in the festival season and will benefit both the central government employees and pensioners. Generous bonus for railway employees The Cabinet has also granted approval for a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) that amounts to 78 days wages for eligible non-gazetted Railway employees. This bonus is for the financial year 2022-23 and will benefit a wide array of railway staff, including Track maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Points man, Ministerial Staff, and other Group 'C' staff, excluding Railway Protection Force (RPF)/ Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel, read the press release issued by Cabinet. This move comes in recognition of the outstanding performance of the railway employees throughout the financial year 2022-23. The Union Government has sanctioned a PLB totalling Rs 1,968.87 crores, which will be disbursed to approximately 1,107,346 railway employees, read the press release. (This copy will be updated)

Waheeda Rehman to cap glittering career with Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Neeraj recorded his best throw of 88.17 m in his second attempt in the Championship final and managed to keep his lead intact till the very end. Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, the Commonwealth Games champion finished with silver with a throw of 87.82 m. Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch secured bronze with a best throw of 86.67 m. "Congratulations to Neeraj Chopra for winning gold at the World Athletics Championship 2023. The Golden Boy of athletics has done it again. Not only in the World Athletics Championship, Neeraj Chopra has won gold in several other Championships also. This is a big achievement for India in the field of Athletics. The third round of attempts started and Neeraj recorded a throw of 86.32 m, the second-best in the competition so far. He managed to maintain his lead. However, with a massive throw of 87.82 m, Pakistan's Commonwealth Games champion Arshad Nadeem jumped to the number two spot. He recorded his season-best throw and less than a meter separated him from the Olympic champion Neeraj. With a third attempt of 83.72 m, Manu was still in fifth. Jena's third attempt was a foul and he remained at seventh spot. Neeraj led with 88.17 at the end of round three of attempts. Jena's fourth attempt was 80.19 m and kept him at the seventh spot at the start of fourth round of attempts. Manu's fourth attempt was a foul, keeping him at the fifth spot. Neeraj recorded the fourth throw of 84.64 m, still in the lead. However, Nadeem was still pretty close to him, throwing 87.15 m in the fourth attempt and having the second-best throw overall from earlier. Neeraj led the field at the end of the fourth round of attempts. Jena's fifth attempt was 84.77 m, taking him to fourth spot, one away from a bronze. Nadeem's fifth throw was a foul, delivering a blow to his hopes of a first spot. Neeraj's fifth throw was 87.73 m and kept him in the lead. However, it was just inches away from Nadeem's second-best throw of 87.82 m from earlier. Manu recorded 83.48 m and Jena recorded 84.77 in their fifth attempts. Jena was fifth while Manu at sixth. Neeraj still led the field. In the final round of attempts, Manu was still at sixth with an 84.14 m throw in the final attempt. Jena committed a foul and stayed at fifth. Nadeem's final throw was 81.86 m and failed to overcome Neeraj's 88.17 m in his final attempt. Hamirpur (HP), Jun 13 () Union minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday urged BJP workers to remain vigilant against COVID-19 and tell people how the central and the state governments both were tackling the pandemic. While addressing a virtual rally of Badsar area of the district through video conferencing, Thakur said the Modi government was taking several measures to provide relief to the people of the country from the pandemic. Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, HP Panchayati Raj Minister Virendra Kanwar and BJP district chief Baldev Sharma also participated in the virtual rally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a relief package of more than a million crores rupees to people and all the BJP leaders and workers were working with complete planning and proper implementation of these schemes with full intentions, Thakur added. He appealed to the Bharatiya Janata Party workers that they should come forward to take the benefits of these schemes to the masses so that they could know who their real benefactor was. Thakur, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, said that the party workers had to shoulder a big responsibility while fighting with the deadly virus and for that they should educate the people how to lead their lives during this crisis. Dhumal also urged people and BJP workers to make full use of the policies and programmes of the central and state governments as such schemes were for their own benefits and welfare.
