Alvin Tse is a British national who graduated from Stanford University. He has been serving as the general manager of Xiaomi Indonesia since October 2019. Tse isn’t the only addition to Xiaomi’s leadership. Anuj Sharma, the former chief marketing officer of Xiaomi and the current country director for Poco India will rejoin the company as its chief marketing officer (CMO). Poco is expected to soon announce a new director to replace Sharma. Poco F4 expected to launch soon in India – specs, expected price and everything you need to know

<ul><li><keyword id="6354730" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="home-loan" source="Orion">Home loan</keyword> borrowers would most likely end up paying higher EMIs as a further tenure extension may not be possible. </li><li>EMI for a 20-year home loan of ₹70 lakh is set to go up by ₹1,138. </li><li>Home loan borrowers should plan in a structured manner so that their finances are not stretched, say experts. </li></ul>While the budget did not bring much cheer to home loan borrowers, Wednesday’s 25 <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/finance/news/rbi-hikes-interest-rates-by-25-basis-points-to-6-5-says-core-inflation-remains-sticky/articleshow/97716217.cms">basis-point rate hike</a> by the RBI will only add to their woes. When RBI raises interest rates, lending institutions also increase their interest rates and home loans get costlier for borrowers. However, the impact will be most felt by those who already have a home loan. Says Ram Raheja, managing director at S Raheja Realty, a real estate developer, “The policy rate was raised by the RBI by 25 basis points to 6.5%, we believe that this will be followed by a protracted period of waiting and watching. Most banks have already hiked house loan rates by about 200 basis points on borrowers as of this writing. The effects of the higher policy rates would be felt most quickly by current home loan borrowers.” What it means for you: “Repo rate is directly linked to loan rates offered by lenders so an increase in the repo will increase the borrowing cost and vice-versa. The rate hike of 25 bps today will make EMIs expensive by approximately 2-4%. Borrowers will either have to shell out extra money to repay their loans or will have to extend the loan tenure,” says Swaminathan, executive chairman, Andromeda Sales and Apnapaisa.com, a home loan aggregator. If we take into consideration the current increase of 25 bps, the EMI for a 20-year home loan of ₹70 lakh at 9.25% was ₹64,111. But when we factor in the 25 bps rise, the interest rate becomes 9.5%, thereby increasing the EMI to ₹65,249. The borrower of such a loan will have to pay an extra amount of ₹1,138 each month. However, in the last three quarters, the repo rate has been increased by 250 basis points. So, the EMI for a 20-year home loan taken in May 2022 of ₹70 lakh at 7% was ₹54,271. But when we factor in the 250-bps hike rate since May, the interest rate becomes 9.5%, increasing the EMI to ₹65,249. The borrower of such a loan will have to pay an extra amount of ₹10, 978 each month. Let us take another example of a loan of ₹50 lakh with a tenure of 15 years which was taken last year before May. Then the interest rate was 7% and the EMI for such a loan was ₹44.941. Now, the EMI for the same loan would be ₹52,211. Before this rate hike the EMI was ₹51,460. Borrowers who want to keep the EMI the same can look to increase their tenure. For the above loan, the tenure will have to be increased to 270 months from the original 180 months to keep the EMI the same. Before this rate hike, the tenure had to be 254 months to keep the EMIs the same. However, increasing the tenure means that the borrower has to pay an additional interest of ₹40.41 lakh (as compared to a 7% interest rate) and of ₹7.18 lakh as compared to when the interest rate was 9.25%, before the current rate hike. Explore different options and plan accordingly: However, Anuj Sharma – chief operations officer – IMGC, a mortgage guarantee company says that with the current rate hike, banks’ ability to assist is limited (as loan term extensions have already been exhausted), and the increase would eventually be passed on to borrowers, increasing the monthly payments. Agrees Pramod Kathuria, founder &amp; CEO, Easiloan, a digital home loan marketplace, “For the home loan, the banks have typically a tenure of up to working age of 60 years, hence increasing the tenure might be challenging given the number of hikes in the recent months. In this case, the bank can opt to increase the installment.” “When the window to increase home loan tenures closes, it means that borrowers will not have the option to extend the repayment period for their home loans. This could put pressure on the more budget-strung borrowers' finances, especially if their income has not increased proportionately,” said Prashant Thakur, senior director and head of research at Anarock group. Borrowers would need to check with the bank to find out what options they have. Borrowers can also try to negotiate with the banks, provided a they have a good credit history How to manage a higher EMI outgo: Adhil Shetty, CEO, BankBazaar, a loan aggregator, says that one should rush into breaking their investments and making prepayments and instead plan accordingly. “You can do it in different ways depending on what suits your financial situation best. For instance, a 20-year loan can be repaid in 12 years if you pre-pay 5% of the loan balance once a year. Else, you could pay an additional 5%-10% over your existing EMI every month. Or you could pay an additional 2-5 EMIs every year or an additional EMI every quarter. Any and all of this would bring down your loan burden,” says Shetty. Above all, what matters is the timeframe in which you intend to repay the loan. For example, your intention was to repay a 20-year loan in 10 years but the rate hikes have taken your tenor to 25 years. In this case, ensure that for the next 10 years, you pay back at least 10% of the loan through a combination of EMIs and prepayments. This will keep you on track for your goal. What is important is that you do it in a planned and structured manner, so that your finances are not stretched but you make savings on your loan at the same time. ‘’More importantly, home loan borrowers whose EMIs have gone up significantly since last year, will have to manage their finances so that they can meet the increased EMI payments. If the borrowers are unable to make the higher payments, it can result in a bad credit score, which might lead to getting loans in future becoming even tougher,” said Atul Monga, co-founder and CEO, BASIC Home Loan, an automated home loan platform. High home loan rates should not be a deterrent to home purchase: “The magnitude of the increase in the current is 25 basis points which is less compared to previous hikes, this could potentially mean that RBI is expecting inflation with the target of 4%, post which the repo rate can be normalized. The home loan is a long-tenure loan and it is expected to go through multiple cycles of highs and lows, hence the recent hike should not deter the new home loan borrowers from purchasing,” says Kathuria. New borrowers should instead focus on a sound repayment strategy to cope up with the changes in the increase in the interest rate. Xiaomi's Poco becomes third largest online smartphone brand in India

<keyword id="13722" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lenovo">Lenovo</keyword> has officially launched its Z2 Plus smartphone in India. The company has seen customers moving from feature phones and low- range phones to <keyword id="3008848" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mid-range-phone">mid-range phone</keyword>s. Lenovo considers the new mid-range segment from Rs. 10,000 to about Rs. 20,000. Anuj Sharma, Head of Product Marketing, Smartphones, Lenovo MBG India said, “next year the mid-range phone will be dominant in India”, the company also saw considerable number of low-range smartphone users upgrading to a mid-range phone and although the company has its range of premium phones with <keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword>, he adds, “the premium segment needs to innovate a lot more, innovation is missing in premium phones.” 
 The mid-segment smartphone market in India has evolved in a big way and India has seen many new launches in the mid-segment in the past one year, with some smartphones standing almost spec to spec with premium phones. With the kind of pricing for its new Z2 Plus, Lenovo does pack a punch in terms of specs. The Lenovo Z2 Plus comes with a <keyword id="1395007" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Qualcomm-Snapdragon">Qualcomm Snapdragon</keyword> 820 SoC and has two variants, 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage priced at Rs. 17,999 and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage priced at Rs. 19,999. The phone does not have extendable storage. 
 
Both the devices have 5-inch, FHD screen developed by Sharp. It has dual-SIM support in both 3G and 4G configuration. The rear camera is a 13MP, f/2.2 unit with a 1.34 micron pixel sensor. The front camera is an 8MP unit. 
Cyber Media Research has said earlier this year that even in a budget-conscious market like India, consumers are no longer just looking for the cheapest option and the dynamics have changed. Company’s previous mid-range phone K4 Note which was priced little over Rs. 10,000 also did pretty well in the India market. 
 
The new Lenovo Z2 Plus also includes a U-Health app similar to Apple’s health app. It has a Pedometer, Gyroscope, Accelerometer and apparently consume very little power. 
 
Both models will go on sale this Sunday, 25 September, at midnight exclusively on Amazon.

<keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword> today launched two new phones, Moto E4 plus and Moto E priced at Rs. 9999 and Rs. 8999 respectively. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Samsung-creates-strong-impact-with-Samsung-S8-rebounds-from-Note-7-debacle-Report/articleshow/59473748.cms">Reports </a>and industry experts have suggested that the budget phones in India have now pushed past the Rs. 10,000 mark. More and more smartphone users are moving towards mid range phones and premium phones as their main device. The popularity of Rs.15,000 to Rs. 25,000 phones among the smartphone users have gone up in the past couple of years. 
 
Motorola seems to be all the more focused on the under Rs. 10,000 range. Motorola however has presence across all segments with different sets of phone models, the company starts with the C series for low range phones, goes up to E series with their under 10,000 phones, followed by Moto G series which are the mid-high range phones, extending then to premium phones with Moto Z series. Even with presence across all segments, the under Rs. 10,000 phones continue to be the most important segment for the smartphone maker. Anuj Sharma, Head of Product Management, Motorola says, “Yes market has shifted, but we don’t believe that Motorola experience is only for the elite, below Rs. 10,000 segment in India is still a pretty big segment. Barring the top 2 or top 3% for remaining 95-98%, Rs. 10,000 is still a big sum. We can’t abandon the market that is still there - market with new consumers and consumers who traditionally bought Rs. 6000 phones looking to upgrade.” 
 According to <keyword id="6377157" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IDC">IDC</keyword> 120 million phones will be sold in 2017 in India, out of which 52 million will still be below Rs.10,000 price band. Reason why Motorola is betting big on the budget segment also considering that the E series for Moto has been one of the most popular phones for the brand in India. 
 In terms of availability, Moto E4 Plus will be available exclusively on <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> from tonight and Moto E4 is available at the stores. Moto E⁴ Plus has a (5.5”) HD display with metal body. E4 Plus comes packed with 5000 mAh battery that the company claims will keep the phone powered for two straight days and it comes with the 10W rapid charger. It has dual SIM slots and lets 32GB internal storage that’s expandable up to 128GB with a dedicated MicroSD card slot. Moto E⁴ Plus features a 13MP autofocus rear camera with flash and a 5MP front camera. The all new Moto E⁴ has a 12.7cm (5") HD display, metal body powered with the latest version of Android™ 7.1.1. Moto E⁴ features 8MP autofocus camera and 5MP front camera with flash and 2800 mAh battery. 
 The under Rs. 10,000 segment in India has been dominated by two main players Motorola and <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> and both smartphone makers are not quite ready yet to let the focus blur on one of the most lucrative price bands for smartphones in India.

Motorola continues to bet big on budget phones, refuses to ignore the under Rs. 10,000 price range

Chinese smartphone maker <keyword id="3205550" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="LeEco">LeEco</keyword>, previously called Letv, outdid customer expectations with Le 1s. After having sold a record number of devices in its two flash sales, the Le 1s now comes with a slicker design targeting more audience. It now comes in a slick all-silver look. Superior performance coupled with its flash sale marketing strategy did the wonders. 
 
“I am a sales executive and have to be on the road for work the entire day. Battery life is something I highly value and what I really look out for while buying a phone. When I got to know about the fast charging feature of Le 1s, I didn’t give it a second thought and bought it. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed with my new Le 1s, now I don’t have to worry about the phone running out of charge during my busy field days,” said Anuj Sharma, an MNC employee based out of Bangalore. 
 
At a price only Rs 10,999, Le 1s has a metal unibody, a world's first mirror-surface fingerprint scanner, and a 5.5" FHD display, the flagship processor of the year Helio X10 Turbo, 3GB Ram and 32 GB storage, dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, and USB Type-C port. On the camera front, there is a 13-megapixel f/2.0 rear camera, and 5-megapixel wide angle selfie camera. 
 
“I have been using this phone for about 15 days now and am loving it. The full metal body makes it look really premium and I like flaunting my phone everywhere I go these days. The voice clarity is good and with its fast processor and 3GB RAM, the phone works very smoothly and does not lag at all,” said Mansi Sheth, a homemaker based in Mumbai. 
 
The company has also given extreme importance to its after sales service and has set up 555 service centres covering more than 300 cities and towns of the country, thus becoming the first brand to enter Indian market with such an extensive after-sales service.
