New Delhi, Feb 3 () Electronic chipset firm MediaTek on Monday said it expects to roll out new gaming-focussed chipsets G70 and G80 in 5-7 smartphone models by June in India.
 The company has partnered with smartphone firm Realme to roll out the first smartphone on G70 chipsets this month.
 "On a global level, gaming has overtaken films as preferred leisure activity. We have come up with G70 and G80 series that will bring premium features in affordable range of devices," MediaTek India Managing Director Anku Jain told .
 He said MediaTek is in talks with several partners for their roll-out and expects that 5-7 smartphone models in India will have these chipsets by the second quarter.
 Meanwhile, Realme announced the roll-out of its first smartphone with G70 chipset.
 "Realme C3 will be the first smartphone in India to feature the world's first MediaTek Helio G70. We will also be the first brand to launch MediaTek Helio G80 in India soon. Continuing to strengthen our association with MediaTek, we will be coming up with more smartphones with MediaTek Helio G70 and Helio G80, offering a 'power meets style' experience for more massive users in India," Realme India Chief Executive Officer Madhav Seth said in a statement.
 Last year, MediaTek rolled out its gaming-focussed chipsets G90 and G90T, which was adopted by Xiaomi for Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone priced in the medium range.

Lava launches 'Blaze' smartphone at an affordable price in India

Domestic electronics company <keyword id="71696" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Micromax">Micromax</keyword> on Wednesday said it has partnered with Taiwan-based fabless semiconductor company MediaTek to start design and development of smartphones in India under the "in mobiles" brand. Micromax earlier said that it would unveil its new "in" range of smartphones on November 3. The collaboration will help Micromax to design and develop smartphone solutions powered by <keyword id="10181666" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="mediatek-helio-g-series">MediaTek Helio G Series</keyword> with <keyword id="10181707" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="mediatek-hyperengine-game">MediaTek HyperEngine game</keyword> technology. Micromax said its R&amp;D centre at Bengaluru will start the design and development of the smartphones. This association aligns the efforts of Micromax to accelerate the complete hardware and software development for smartphones in India. MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset – specifications and performance upgrades MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 1200 chipset delivers up to 22% faster CPU (central processing unit) performance than its predecessor. Simultaneously, the company says it is 25% more efficient. The Dimensity 1200 chipset is aimed at taking on the Snapdragon 888, which is Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. The Dimensity 1200 chipset is capable of handling Full HD+ resolution displays with a maximum refresh rate of 168GHz, which could benefit gaming smartphones in case they have higher refresh rate displays – like the ROG Phone 5 which has a 144Hz refresh rate display. In terms of 5G connectivity, the Dimensity 1200 supports a wide range of features like 5G carrier aggregation for enhanced speeds, true dual SIM 5G for seamless connectivity between multiple SIMs, and Voice over New Radio (VoNR), which promises significantly lower latency and improved call and picture quality. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and has dual transmitters and receivers for better upload and download performance. MediaTek has included Bluetooth 5.2 Low Energy support as well, reducing power consumption and latency by up to 20%. MediaTek says that this chipset can handle a maximum image resolution of 200MP – also far beyond the current maximum capabilities. It also supports 4K video recording, and up to 40% better dynamic range during high dynamic range (HDR) recording.
