He's also a man putting a cake in a display case in Lulu's Diner, which Jenna owned at the end of the film with Becky and Dawn working with her.Recalling how his cameos in the film came about, Ostroy explained that as "a struggling filmmaker," Shelly was "one of those people that would make gifts, or give you things that didn't cost much, but that meant a lot." So it made perfect sense," Ostroy added.Since Shelly's death, Sophie's appearance in the film has a deeper meaning for Ostroy, he said. But in 2007, it was rare to see a film that was so honest about the more difficult aspects of pregnancy.While Jenna used baking and her affair to escape the reality of her abusive relationship, her pregnancy didn't come with the usual glow that's often shown onscreen. Instead, Jenna portrays a woman grappling with her pregnancy, finding it hard to connect with her baby until she was born. The love she had for her daughter eventually gave her the strength to start a new life. "I did not like being pregnant. It wasn't sweet. It wasn't fun. There was really not much about it that I liked," said Hines, who was a new mother along with Shelly while they were making "Waitress.""It's scary. The documentary covers their whirlwind romance — how the two met on Match.com in late 2001, got engaged in Paris the following summer, and married in December 2002.She was an actor and filmmaker who had success in independent films like Hal Hartley's "The Unbelievable Truth" and "Trust." "She literally was #MeToo in many ways before #MeToo existed," he told Insider, pointing to the "very strong feminist voice" in all her films."Almost in a very pioneering way," he added.One moment in "Adrienne" demonstrates this aspect of Shelly's legacy in a darkly humorous way. "And I just started laughing on the inside because literally, it was as if Adrienne was right next to me laughing and thinking that was the funniest thing ever." <h2>In addition to shedding light on an underappreciated filmmaker, 'Adrienne' is a stunning portrait of grief</h2>Shelly and Ostroy's daughter, Sophie, was only two years old when her mother was killed the day after Halloween in 2006. She's a teenager in "Adrienne," and Ostroy enlisted Sophie to narrate her mother's life by reading journals found at Shelly's childhood home. She also voices her younger self in animated drawings featured in the documentary, which Ostroy used to depict his daughter's journey with grief throughout her childhood. The voiceovers are based on real conversations about their grief the two had been privately having for years, all throughout Sophie's life."Ever since Adrienne died, I would sit with Sophie, especially in the earlier years like at bedtime, and we would talk," Ostroy told Insider, calling the conversations "fascinating.""I had a small Blackberry, and I just started typing verbatim these conversations because something told me that someday there will be a very meaningful point to having these, even if it was just nothing more than Sophie being able to look at a catalog of conversations and see her own development emotionally as she matured throughout this process," he said. Emily Kohrs, the foreperson in the grand jury, has in recent days given candid interviews about the panel's work to outlets including CNN, MSNBC, and The New York Times. Kohrs was authorized to speak to the media but not to discuss details of the special grand jury's findings, which included charging recommendations. Prosecutors may now refer the report to an ordinary grand jury to bring criminal charges.Without naming anyone, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/georgia-special-grand-jury-wants-multiple-indictments-trump-investigation-2023-2?r=US&amp;IR=T">Kohrs said the special grand jury had recommended indictments</a> for several of the people accused of helping Trump as he sought to reverse his defeat to Joe Biden in the state. In one interview, she said: "You're not going to be shocked.
