The car maker will reportedly start rolling out vehicles with Google's embedded <keyword id="12177039" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="android-automotive" source="Orion">Android Automotive</keyword> OS, which includes Google's voice-activated Assistant, <keyword id="97416" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="google-maps" source="Orion">Google Maps</keyword>, and other automotive-approved Android apps as the default infotainment, reports The Verge "We will collaborate with Google to better integrate Google in vehicle services in our vehicles including the ability to more easily use features like Google Assistant, Google Maps functionality and other in-vehicle apps offered through Google Play," the report quoted a Honda spokesperson as saying. There is a significant difference between Android Auto and Android Automotive. The former is a projection of a user's smartphone onto the vehicle's base infotainment system, while the latter is a full-fledged infotainment system, which handles all vital features and functions relating to the vehicle. In addition, Google also collaborating with the likes of Ford, General Motors and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance to incorporate Android Automotive into their vehicles. Tencent is releasing a voice-activated version of WeChat optimized for cars

Since 2009, its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/blackberry-phone-sales-decline-chart-2016-9" target="_blank">market share has fallen</a> from 20% to just .1%.But Blackberry is looking to stage a comeback, just not with smartphones. Blackberry has been quietly ramping up its self-driving car software efforts to compete with the likes of Apple down the line.Before you completely dismiss the old handset maker, it's worth remembering that Blackberry owns QNX Operating Systems. That's the operating system Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system runs on, as well as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/audi-business-insiders-2016-infotainment-system-of-the-year-2016-12" target="_blank">General Motors' new OnStar system</a> and the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/2016-audi-tt-review-2015-10" target="_blank">Audi TT</a> virtual cockpit. It also supports Apple's CarPlay.Blackberry QNX is running in more than 60 million vehicles as of the end of 2014, with over 40 automakers relying on the software platform, Grant Courville, senior director of product management at QNX, told Business Insider. Colin Bird, senior analyst of automotive technology at IHS Markit, told Business Insider that Blackberry QNX is currently the leader in the connected car space, which includes infotainment, navigation, telematics, and rear-seat entertainment. QNX has a market share of about 47% and its closest competitor is Linux with 20% market share.Blackberry is now modifying its QNX platform so it can run self-driving car tech as well.The idea is to give automakers a secure platform to run their self-driving car software. Since self-driving cars are still in their early days, many automakers are running the software on massive computers sitting in car trunks. Blackberry is looking to get a slice of the self-driving car space by offering a secure, integrated platform to support self-driving car software later on. (Doing so also gives Blackberry some cushion to ensure its product stays in cars as they evolve.)"We're not building a car and we're not building hardware," Courville said. Although the company missed on revenue in the third quarter, Blackberry <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/blackberry-q3-2016-earnings-2016-12" target="_blank">posted a profit</a> and raised its earning outlook for the 2017 fiscal year.Blackberry gets more than half of its total revenue from its software products and plans to increase its software revenue by 30% this fiscal year.Blackberry does not break out its QNX financials. But Bird said Blackberry gets anywhere between $5 to $15 in royalties per vehicle with the system.Blackberry is expected to deliver 36 million QNX licenses this year, Bird said."I don't consider ourselves in a turnaround anymore,'' Blackberry CEO John Chen said during the company's earnings call, according to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-12-20/blackberry-boosts-2017-forecast-on-software-services-growth" target="_blank">Bloomberg</a>. "We'll make money this year. Nobody believed us in the beginning.''But Blackberry is likely to face mounting competition from the likes of Apple.<a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-25/apple-develops-car-operating-system-in-blackberry-country" target="_blank">Bloomberg first reported</a> in October that Apple is building an operating system for its car project in Ottawa, where Blackberry is located. Apple is looking to build the operating system for its own self-driving software to run on.Per the report, Apple poached two dozen engineers from Blackberry for the project. Apple also hired Dan Dodge, the former CEO of QNX, earlier in 2016.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image">Blackberry</div></div></div>But Blackberry does have two advantages over its current and mounting competition: speed and security.Blackberry's QNX Neutrino RTOS is an operating system that powers time-sensitive tasks, like driver assistance systems. Unlike Linux and Microsoft, QNX is able to handle these tasks in milliseconds, something that will become increasingly important as self-driving cars have to make quick decisions on the best course of action.Bird said that the QNX Neutrino operating system is a "significant" reason why Blackberry has had an edge over competitors already.Additionally, Blackberry QNX has an advantage when it comes to security."One of the big benefits that we're getting from Blackberry is all about security expertise, security software, intellectual property. And that's what we're bringing into automotive," Courville said.QNX is ISO 26262 compliant, which is an international standard for safety for electronics systems in automobiles. Bird said Windows is not compliant with the standard, nor are most Linux distributions. Having an operating system that can run self-driving software securely will only become more important as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/driverless-cars-hacking-ricks-2016-12" target="_blank">autonomous cars are prone to hacking</a>.But what may truly determine which companies win out is their willingness to work with automakers when it comes to data ownership."There will be a bit of tug of war between how much access the automakers provide to the vehicle and all the information that can come from vehicle," he said. Blackberry is looking to make a comeback - but not with phones

<keyword id="6358540" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sony">Sony</keyword> has just launched its new flagship smartphone <keyword id="149355" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Xperia">Xperia</keyword> <keyword id="2063272" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Z3">Z3</keyword> for Rs 51,990. We had loved the Xperia Z2 and now we have been using the Z3 for about a week now, so let us find out if this is even better or not? 
 
 
 
What is it? 
 
It is Sony new device that will be pitted against the flagship device from all other smartphone makers. We had hoped that Sony will be packing in a 2K display for this one but sadly that is not the case so. Just like the Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z3 is also waterproof and dust proof. 
 
 
 
Why does it matter? 
 
Sony has been trying hard to increase its market share and profitability in the smartphone space. The company has already indicated that it will focus on high-end devices to improve its bottom lines. The Xperia Z3 is going to be Sony front runner in this category and it needs to lead by example. 
 
 
 
Design 
 
Aesthetically, the Sony Xperia Z3 remains very similar to its predecessor. It is available in four colors (white, black, copper and a "mysterious" silver-green), it keeps the angular Omnibalance design of Sony Xperia Z2. But we have no complaints in regards to the minimalistic and monolithic device. With an aluminium frame and glossy rear, Sony has decided to pop a nylon cap onto the corners of the phone in an attempt to keep these easily dented and chipped areas blemish free. The durable material (used in the automotive industry) will no doubt be fit for purpose, though it's arguable that they've now undermined the otherwise-seamless design from the outset here. 
In addition, the Sony Xperia Z3 weighs just 152g, which makes it full 11 grams lighter than the Xperia Z2 and at just 7.3mm it is also slimmer. 
 
 
 
Display 
 After spree of boring and dull displays, Sony managed to cracked the display puzzle with the Xperia Z2 and the same has been borrowed by Xperia Z3 as well. Crisp colors and contour, rich detailing and an astounding viewing experience, is what Xperia Z3 promises and very ably delivers. It may not match up to the class of Super AMOLED display of <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> but still, the difference is not really going to be bothersome. Viewing angles are good too and you won't find any issues with that. 
 
Performance 
 
Xperia Z2 was a top notch performer with its fluid interface experience via the Xperia UI and a stable workhorse too. With Xperia Z3, the stake has gone to another level. It packs the quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset along with 3 GB RAM and those numbers are well and truly packing the Z3 with a high-end experience. Be it, gaming, multi-tasking or any heavy loaded stuff, Xperia Z3 comes through unscathed without major heating issues and no lagging problems, whatsoever. If you compare the benchmark scores of Xperia Z2 and Z3, you’ll actually wonder, if the upgrade is really what an existing Xperia users will be look for. For some strange reasons, we got the Xperia Z2 delivering better graphics experience than Xperia Z3 but all that does change, when using the phones in real time.

How can you actually improve a phone’s camera packing a mammoth 20.7 megapixel resolution? Well, with Xperia Z2 we observed, improvements were needed on the detailing and low-light capturing front and Sony comes back to us with Xperia Z3 that gets the issues sorted, to some extent. The company has upped the aperture quotient on the Z3 ,which helps in delivering higher detailed images with clarity and the low-light shooting has improved as well. But what we like the most, is the Xperia Z3’s ability to handle 4K-video shooting which is much better than what we experienced on the Xperia Z2 (constant heating and device freeze was a common pain). 
 
 
 
Battery 
 
The flagship Xperia devices have been known for being a powerhorse, as well as, workhorse nature. And the same tradition continues with the Xperia Z3. You don’t really have to be moving around with a portable charger with Xperia Z3 that’s how confident we were, when we used the phone for a week. But, just to be sure about the credentials, we made the Z3 run through set of video playback and usage tests. With video playback, we got the phone up and running for more than 8 hours which in our experience translates to more than day’s life and we exactly got that during our usage tests.

Should I buy it? 
If you are an existing Xperia user then the upgrade makes a little sense.
