She also said the idea that the contact was "grandpa-like" or "friendly" was "dismissive and part of the problem."</p><p>"I stand by Lucy and any woman with the courage to come forward regarding inappropriate behavior by men," Lappos said in a statement. "Uninvited affection is not okay."</p><p>"If Biden truly supports women and gender equality he would step aside and support one of the many talented and qualified women running," she added. Russo cited several unflattering photos of Biden that were apparently photoshopped, including a photo of him holding a woman's shoulders and kissing Democratic Sen. Chris Coons' daughter on the head.</p><p>"These smears and forgeries have existed in the dark recesses of the internet for a while," Russo said. "And to this day, right wing trolls and others continue to exploit them for their own gain."</p><p>"There are other, even more insidious examples of claims about the Vice President that have no foundation: the use of photoshopped images and other manipulations of social media," he added. "Perhaps most galling of all, a cropped photo of the Vice President comforting his grandson outside of his son Beau's funeral has been used to further this false narrative."</p>

"He has been a leader and a champion on fighting violence against women for many years, and I have been fortunate to accompany him to events with survivors where he has listened to their stories, empathized with them, and comforted them."</p><p>"Joe Biden's response that he never meant to make anyone uncomfortable and that he'll listen and learn from anyone who says otherwise is exactly the leadership we need to build a culture where women are heard and are equal," Milano added.</p><p>Milano's statement comes amid public accusations from at least two women who said Biden inappropriately touched and kissed them.</p><p>Lucy Flores, a former Nevada state legislator, claimed Biden grabbed her shoulders and kissed the back of her head in 2014: "He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head," she wrote in <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/democrat-lucy-flores-accuses-joe-biden-kissing-inappropriately-2019-3">New York Magazine</a>. "My brain couldn't process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. Jim Himes.</p><p>"It wasn't sexual, but he did grab me by the head," Lappos said in an interview with <a href="https://www.courant.com/politics/hc-pol-biden-grabbed-aide-20190401-vl7chim3hrdjtcwu2tszrhozzm-story.html">The Hartford Courant</a> published on Monday. "He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth."</p><p>Milano, an outspoken activist and supporter of the #MeToo movement, said she respected Flores' decision to tell her story, and that her views of Biden did not diminish Flores' accusation.</p><p>In October 2018, Milano emphatically supported Christine Blasey Ford, who <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/brett-kavanaugh-beer-keg-beach-week-drinking-habit-2018-10">accused Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault</a> during his confirmation to the Supreme Court. Milano continues to be an advocate for sexual assault victims following her own alleged account of an assault from <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/women-from-many-industries-speak-about-sexual-abuse-as-part-of-metoo-2017-10">Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein</a>.</p><p>"I respect Lucy Flores' decision to share her story and agree with Biden that we all must pay attention to it," Milano said on Twitter. "But, just as we must believe women that decide to come forward, we cannot assume all women's experiences are the same."</p><p>"I believe that Joe Biden's intent has never been to make anyone uncomfortable, and that his kind, empathetic leadership is what our country needs. Especially now," she added.</p><p>Flores and Lappos' accusations come amid <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/democrats-think-joe-biden-best-to-beat-trump-2020-2019-3">speculation</a> surrounding Biden's potential 2020 US presidential bid. Biden, who himself has been an <a href="https://bidenfoundation.org/pillars/ending-violence-against-women/">advocate for sexual assault victims</a>, said he did not believe he had acted inappropriately at the time of the allegations.</p><p>"In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort," Biden said in a statement. "And not once - never - did I believe I acted inappropriately. If it is suggested I did so, I will listen respectfully. Caruso said she had revealed details of her own sexual assault at the event, and she had expected Biden to appreciate the concept of physical boundaries.</p><p>"It doesn't even really cross your mind that such a person would dare perpetuate harm like that," she told The Times. "These are supposed to be people you can trust."</p><p>DJ Hill, the second woman, alleged Biden moved his hands from her shoulder to her back while she and her husband posed for a photograph in 2012. Hill, who is 59 years old, said her husband witnessed the incident and put his own hand on Biden's shoulder.</p><p>In addition to the two allegations made on Tuesday, two other women have accused him of making physical contact that made them uncomfortable.</p><p>Amy Lappos, 43, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/joe-biden-accuser-inappropriate-touching-unwanted-fundraiser-amy-lappos-2019-4">alleged</a> Joe Biden grabbed her head to rub noses at a 2009 fundraiser for a congressman, who she formerly worked for as an aide.</p><p>Lucy Flores, 39, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/democrat-lucy-flores-accuses-joe-biden-kissing-inappropriately-2019-3">accused</a> Biden of "[planting] a big slow kiss on the back of my head" during a campaign event in 2014. One of the women who was pictured in <a href="https://medium.com/@scarterdc/the-metoo-story-that-wasnt-me-6c1d5eb1e94d" target="_blank" rel="noopener">viral photo</a> with Biden described the narrative behind her experience as misleading in an essay posted on Medium. </p><p>House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Monday that Flores' and Lappos' allegations were not a disqualifying factor for Biden. Former White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett also agreed with the assessment and approved of Biden's statement following the report.</p><p>"I appreciate the fact that he said men, and not just himself, but men generally, have to start listening," Jarrett said to <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/video/valerie-jarrett-says-bidens-response-to-accusations-was-just-right/">CBS News</a>.
