Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in India affecting one in 28 women and it is also the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women. Doctors of various healthcare institutions in Hyderabad say the lack of early detection of the disease is the main reason causing the death of women when they reach advanced stages of cancer. They have advised women to stay cautious of their health to ensure they do not neglect any cancerous symptoms. October is commemorated as 'Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and healthcare practitioners have appealed to the government to take necessary steps to spread awareness about this deadly disease even across rural areas. "Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms. Where mammography facilities are not available, breast self-examination can be taught to the women so that cancers of at least 2-3 cm in size can be diagnosed," said Dr M. Jwala Srikala Consultant Radiologist, KIMS Hospital. According to her, even illiterate women also can test themselves at home by pressing their breasts gently with the middle three fingers and sense if any lumps are there. "They should immediately consult a doctor if they find any lump in the breast. Early detection leads to giving qualitative life to the patients," she said. Dr M Ravi <keyword id="179591" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kumar-reddy" source="Orion">Kumar Reddy</keyword>, Consultant Surgical Oncologist, <keyword id="15290178" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="amor-hospitals" source="Orion">Amor Hospitals</keyword>, pointed out that one in every four cancer patients are a victim of breast cancer disease, and in terms of mortality, nearly 35 per cent of women die from this disease in India. "While the Asian average of these deaths is 34 per cent, the global average stands at 30 per cent, categorising this disease among the deadliest. This high mortality is due to late diagnosis of the ailment. Hence it is important that necessary steps are taken to spread awareness about this ailment, which will help save thousands of lives each year. While awareness and screening are the first steps, there is a need to take treatment closer to people to prolong survival and improve quality of life." Dr Suvarna Rai, Consultant Obstetrician &amp; Gynaecologist, SLG Hospitals, suggested that health departments, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and associations working in this space, all must come together to devise a strategy which will help enhance awareness of breast cancer disease. "It is important that young women are made aware of this deadly disease and they are taught means to detect it early. Unless such steps are taken on an urgent basis, breast cancer will spread in the country and we might lose more precious lives," he said. Dr <keyword id="15290177" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="santoshini-gowrishetty" source="Orion">Santoshini Gowrishetty</keyword>, Consultant Gynaecologist, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital noted that breast cancer prevalence is fast growing in metro cities or in urban settings, and this is due to lifestyle changes witnessed in the cities. "Working women, due to their acquired habits or due to the stress, are falling prey to this deadly disease. The treatment of breast cancer is a complex procedure and requires a multidisciplinary approach. Tests to be conducted on breast cancer patients to administer advanced treatment protocols can only be done in a super speciality environment." Dr <keyword id="193690" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="venu-gopal" source="Orion">Venu Gopal</keyword>, General <keyword id="6382875" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="surgeon" source="Orion">Surgeon</keyword> and Managing Director, Century Hospital is of the view that women should take complete care of themselves in preventing any type of cancer, particularly breast cancer. "Drinking alcohol is clearly linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. The risk increases with the amount of alcohol consumed. Being overweight or obese after menopause also increases breast cancer risk. Women who have not had children or had their first child after age 30 have a slightly higher breast cancer risk overall. Having many pregnancies and becoming pregnant at a young age reduces breast cancer risk," he explained. Surgery is an integral part of the treatment when treated with curative intent, but the entire process is a costly affair. Insurance policies and central or state government-run schemes cover partly or only a few of these modalities, resulting in patients paying from their pockets or resorting to the approved protocols, even if it is over/under-treating them. Doctors opine that the policies and schemes need to be more welcoming and be periodically updated on par with the changing trends in the management of these cancers for more people to reap the benefits. So I pretended to be a <keyword id="10905219" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="smoke-shop">smoke shop</keyword> in order to receive wholesale pricing info, like line sheets and minimums.Once I'd found 10 or so pieces that I wanted, I started looking around for pop-up markets in LA. I applied for all the necessary licenses including a reseller's permit, and then I built my website and Shopify site. For two months I worked nonstop, and then launched Elevate Jane in July 2017.<h2>Before Elevate Jane, I'd worked in tech, hospitality, e-commerce, and marketing.</h2>In 2017, I was taking a break from a hotel company that I was working for in New York and figuring out what I wanted to do next, including moving back to LA. I grew up in Southern California, and I've been smoking weed since middle school. It's so prevalent in the culture here. I spent $10,000 to launch my business - $4,000 for buying inventory, $2,000 for legal fees, and then another $4,000 for setting up logistics, packaging, marketing costs, etc.<div type="image" title="petal pipes.JPG Elevate Jane Angela Mou" height="1724" width="2299" msid="81434942" hostid="261"></div>Early on, I did all of the traditional smoke shop things. I went to the trade shows, I saw the distributors, and I saw what I wanted to bring to the industry with my business.<h2>I wanted to create a one-of-a kind experience completely different from walking to your corner smoke shop.</h2>From the beginning I always wanted Elevate Jane to be an online store, and COVID-19 really pushed us to focus on that. I work out of my living room, and I have three employees - one full-time and two part-time. I shoot all the photos myself, so my workday is a mix of content creation, order fulfillment, purchasing, product development, and marketing planning. I like being involved with every aspect of the business.Over the years I've honed in on what helps me to stay organized. I'm dedicated to a paper planner as well as lists and white boards. It's a mix of being meticulous with schedules, but also going with the flow. <h2>In some ways, it's so much easier to be a solopreneur than to have partners.</h2>Often I can get things done more easily on my own. At the same time though, having to make every decision myself can inhibit me from completing certain things. Every year is a new set of challenges, but I'm grateful because they've all helped me grow and learn about the business.One of the things I hear consistently is that timing is everything. I feel lucky to have launched Elevate Jane in 2017 - and in Los Angeles, where it was a special time right before recreational legalization of marijuana. It was at the very beginning of the "Green Rush," when we started seeing millions and millions of dollars being funneled into the industry. New businesses had the opportunity to emerge and be influential.I feel like there was a shift in 2016 or 2017 when it became much more acceptable for women of color to be involved in the <keyword id="14728" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="cannabis">cannabis</keyword> industry. I've also aligned my business with a lot of like-minded progressive brands, and I feel welcomed with open arms as a woman of color in the cannabis space.Last year we had two products that did really well for us. The other product line we focused on last year was <a href="https://www.elevatejane.com/collections/vintage">vintage sets</a>, like an ashtray paired with a joint holder or a pipe, which customers also loved.<h2>We brought in over $117,000 during the 2020 holiday season.</h2>In addition to doubling our holiday sales from 2019, we had rapid growth in our <a href="https://www.instagram.com/elevatejane/">Instagram</a> followers. Instagram is tricky, but I've always just tried to put out good and consistent content. For us, that means beautiful photos of our products and cannabis education. If I have a platform, I want to be doing good too.<div type="image" title="Angela Mou Elevate Jane" height="1891" width="2521" msid="81434945" hostid="261"></div>My Instagram intuition is pretty well-honed by now, and I know what works best for Elevate Jane and what our community wants to see. Now, one of my cousins also helps me with managing Instagram. We were also early adopters of Reels, which definitely helped us grow by getting us onto the Explore page.In July 2018, I decided that we were only going to sell pieces made in the USA because I wanted to support local artists and small businesses. Currently, 65% of the companies whose products we sell are women-owned and 35% are from people of color or immigrant-owned, and I'm always continuously seeking out more.<h2>My advice for starting an online shop is to launch fast and launch lean. </h2><div type="image" title="elevatejane angela floralcart Angela Mou" height="2145" width="2860" msid="81434947" hostid="261"></div>Before taking the leap, make sure your business is something you want to do every day. On the flip side, I know from personal experience that sometimes you can kill a passion when you make it your full-time "work," but you won't know until you try. I set Elevate Jane apart from the crowd by not listening to the crowd. I listen to my gut and only choose to carry products that I love. The products that do well are the products that I use myself. I've learned to let my intuition and genuine passion lead my buying.In the early stages of growth, it was incredibly discouraging at times when I was exhausted and felt full of self-doubt. The first step is to flip your mentality - I try to look at every challenge as an opportunity to grow and expand as a business owner.I practice a concept called "Amor Fati," which means to love one's fate. I've been through some obstacles in my life that felt devastating at the time, but I've learned that things always work out. If I can teach myself to harness challenging energy in a productive way, I usually end up in a better place. As an entrepreneur, you can make the most of every opportunity.

The current issue of People magazine has revealed what le tout Washington knew anyway: that Barack Obama has been having an affair with Jennifer Aniston. This intrusion took place despite the president's creditable attempts at discretion: putting aside the normal trappings of office, he travelled to Ms Aniston's flat in the evening and left in the morning (after bagels had been brought by the Secret Service) on a scooter, wearing a helmet with the visor down to conceal his face.
This reprehensible scandalmongering has focused attention on Mr Obama's private life--which, as befits a man of stature, has been active and varied. His long-term partner was Hillary Clinton, whom he never married but with whom he has four children. Their political rivalry, alas, damaged their personal relationship, and he took up with Katie Couric, whom he installed as First Girlfriend in the White House. She has now been admitted to hospital--upset, as any journalist would be, at the publicity surrounding her beau's latest amour.
It is now sadly unclear whether Ms Couric will be at Mr Obama's side during his forthcoming visit to France, whose inhabitants, driven by puritanism or impertinence, may ask unreasonable questions. Outside America there is a regrettable degree of public prurience. Fortunately, Americans are more sophisticated than foreigners: 77% of them believe that the president's private life is his own business. When, at a press conference, a reporter from Fox News asked whether Ms Couric was still First Girlfriend, and Mr Obama said briskly that the matter was private, journalists moved swiftly on to the more pertinent question of the medium-term fiscal deficit.
While amorous adventures are not a problem in Washington, they should not be flaunted. The publicity surrounding George W. Bush's divorce from his wife Laura and ostentatious marriage to Beyoncé, a singer, was not just arriviste but also unpopular. Far better was the stealthy approach of the previous president, known as "trois minutes, douche comprise"--three minutes, including the shower--who was driven quietly to his mistresses' houses by the official chauffeur, or that of his predecessor, whose illegitimate daughter lived at the taxpayers' expense. The White House press pack politely kept his secret for 13 years, revealing it only the year before he left office.
<h3>But seriously...</h3>
Would America be a better place if its public figures behaved like François Hollande, Ségolène Royal, Valérie Trierweiler, Nicolas Sarkozy, Jacques Chirac and François Mitterrand, and if its people took as relaxed a view of sex as the French do? Probably more talented Americans would go into politics if they did not think they would be roasted alive for normal human frailty. There would be more Jack Kennedys and fewer Mitt Romneys. On the other hand, if France's politicians were not protected by the law and a quiescent press, perhaps the National Front's anti-elitist message would not go down so well. The answer, of course, is to follow the example of Britain, whose near-saintly politicians are gracefully monitored by the famously dignified denizens of Fleet Street.
