The key divisions of Jammu and Kashmir, the northeast, Union Territory, cyber security and counter-radicalisation, are assigned to G Kishan Reddy, while centre-state division, Police-I (that looks after transfer postings of IPS officers), foreigners divisions among others are assigned to Nityanand Rai. Shah will look after all decisions involving Cabinet matters and President’s house, besides IB. Reportedly, Shah has also tasked the two deputies with taking presentation from every division at the home ministry for better sync in their functioning. The home minister also reviewed details regarding the functioning of the MHA on the first day of taking charge at the North Block. In a first time ever, both the northeast and Jammu and Kashmir divisions have been allocated to the same minister of state. G Kishan Reddy is a three-time MLA and is a first-term MP from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana. Nityanand Rai, who won from the Ujiarpur constituency in Bihar, has also been assigned incharge of women safety division, that was created last year following the Kathua rape case. Rai will also head the Left-wing extremism (LWE) division, that looks at anti-Maoist operations, besides disaster management and police modernisation division, as reported by officials. There are 24 ministers of state in the present council of ministers and six other ministers of state with independent charge.

The state home to India's Silicon Valley may finally get its new ministers-- 3 weeks after government was formed

<ul><li>Chandrakant Bacchu Patil of BJP won with 101,943 votes at Kothrud near Pune.</li><li>He secured a vote share of 54% as per election commission website .</li><li>His closest competitor Kishor Nana Shinde of MNS has secured 76,696 votes.</li></ul>BJP's Chandrakant Bacchu Patil's fight to finish was nailbiting and curious. But it all ended well as he won at Kothrud in Pune, and also established a wide 25,000 vote margin over his MNS opponent Kishor Nana Shinde. Both the candidates fought the battle neck to neck for hours. But, by 4:46, Patil secured 101,943 votes while Nane managed 76,696 votes. Patil started with a 61% vote share at 10:46 am which was cut down to 52% in the next few hours as Shinde's votes spiked. Shah's mentee's career also mimicks that of the union home minister, who also entered the cabinet after he contested in 2014 elections. Patil’s victory is extremely important at the national level for BJP, as he is known to be the Amit Shah of Maharashtra. Not only is he the second most important person in the party in the state, it is also his first election. Patil is known to be Shah’s blue eyed boy and his eyes and ears in the state. The union home minister Amit Shah himself fielded him in the key Pune constituency. While doing so he has angered the strongest Pune Brahmin community as he overlooked a popular candidate of the community—Medha Kulkarni. Added to that, Patil does not hail from the Kothrud area, which became the poll campaign of Shinde who used the ‘outsider’ jibe at numerous speeches he gave. But he has the backing of big guns from BJP. Apart from Shah who campaigned extensively in the state, Modi himself addressed a rally in Pune, this election. Patil victory or loss will ruffle many feathers in the state due to his origins in the Maratha community. If he builds his political profile like his mentor Shah, he would probably challenge the supremacy of chief minister and state party leader—Devendra Fadnavis. Chandrakant Patil called 'Amit Shah of Maharashtra' wins by a wide margin in Kothrud

 "Congratulations to all newly sworn-in ministers. I am sure under the leadership of PM Shri <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> they will do their best for India," he said in a tweet. 
 Party leaders said with many of those coming from Dalit and OBC community been given large representation in the <keyword id="6355512" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Union-Cabinet">Union Cabinet</keyword>, it will help the organisation electorally. .. 
 BJP's National Secretary Sidharth Nath Singh noted that a number of <keyword id="653802" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="New-ministers">new ministers</keyword> have served in state governments earlier and are conversant with delivery mechanism of the central projects on the ground

Confident that new ministers will do their best for the country, says BJP's Amit Shah

It is not necessary that all cabinet ministers have to gel with PM Narendra Modi. There are few ministers who had to work towards getting their equation right with the PM. 
 Economic Times reported how <keyword id="6391015" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Finance-Minister-Arun-Jaitley">Finance Minister Arun Jaitley</keyword>, Home Minister Rajanth Singh and Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj adjusted to work out their private equation with Modi. 
 
The most important minister in Modi’s cabinet is Jaitley. Arguably, Jaitley is Modi's go-to man. People close to Jaitley told ET that he was one of the trongest backers of Modi as BJP’s PM candidate at a time when several heavyweights were against the idea. 
 
The Finance Minister had also handled legal issues of both Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. A party leader told the financial daily that when Shah was banned from entering Gujarat by the Supreme Court, he went to Jaitley's house. 
 
The leader added that Shah relies heavily on Jaitley. "Those working closely with Shah now in the party are all Arun Jaitley's people. Shah's assessment of people is based on Arun's assessment and Modi too goes along," a party leader told ET. 
 
The leader also said that people close to Jaitley were given key ministries and the names were endorsed by Shah as well. 
 
A BJP leader told the financial daily that the close relationship between Modi, Jaitley and Shah was a source of much jealousy. 
 
"Of the trio, Jaitley is the easiest to attack since Modi can't be attacked and attacks on Shah will only start post Bihar if the party does badly," said the leader. 
 
The leader added that Jaitley was Modi's chief troubleshooter. 
 
One of the leaders also told ET that if performance of Modi Sarkar was to be judged largely on economy, Modi's most important minister was also the one who will be judged most ultimately. 
 Meanwhile, <keyword id="2286211" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Home-Minister-Rajnath-Singh">Home Minister Rajnath Singh</keyword> learnt to like Modi. 
 Singh is officially the number two in the <keyword id="581221" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Modi-Cabinet">Modi Cabinet</keyword> and as per an official notification, he gets to chair Cabinet meetings when the PM is away. 
 
Singh is a political heavyweight and Modi and Shah are quite careful not to mess with him. When the Home Minister publically expressed displeasure at rumours being spread about his son, allegedly by a Cabinet colleague, Modi and Shah rushed to assuage him. 
 
After Singh’s response, those rumours stopped. 
 
"The message was clear - Rajnath was not going to stay quiet," a BJP functionary told ET. In his first stint as BJP president, Singh shared an uneasy relationship with Modi and Jaitley. 
 
Singh had dropped Modi from the party's central parliamentary board and Jaitley from the post of chief spokesman. However, during his second stint, Singh’s relationship with Modi improved. 
 
Singh batted for Modi against party veterans LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Sushma Swaraj. 
 
Economic Times reported that a senior Congress leader had also gone to Singh's house when he was the president to dissuade him from declaring Modi as the party's PM candidate. But to no avail. 
 
"He also got dissidents to stop critiquing Modi in public during the run-up to the election," a BJP leader told ET, adding “At one point Singh got Yashwant Sinha to speak to Shatrughan Sinha to tone down the latter's remarks against Modi.” 
 
Party leaders told ET that as smooth as Singh-Modi relations may be now, the uneasy relationship between the finance and home ministers could still become a problem for the prime minister. 
 
"The downfall of UPA-2 started with the shadow war between Pranab Mukherjee and P Chidambaram. Round-2 of Singh vs Jaitley, if it happens, can get troublesome for the PM," a party veteran told the financial daily. 
 
Coming to Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, she was a Modi critic was adjusted. 
 
“Sushma-ji's is a case of a remarkable transformation,” a BJP leader told ET. Before Modi climbed to top of the party, Swaraj was a Modi critic. 
 
A BJP veteran said Swaraj is good with her job even if no one talks about it. Officials say Modi is even more personally involved than most recent PMs. This could have been a source of angst for Swaraj, but she has simply got on with it. 
 
"She's shown great dignity," a BJP leader told ET. As per officials, Modi has asked the foreign minister to keep special focus on the Middle East and SAARC. 
 
"Sushma Swaraj really knows the dos and don'ts of ministerial functioning," a senior official told ET.

Earlier addressing the media, the Prime Minister said that "historic decisions" will be taken this Parliament session which may be of short duration but is big on occasion. In his remarks in Lok Sabha on the discussion on 75 years of Parliament, he asserted that the contribution of women parliamentarians has been on the rise over the years. Congress spokesman Jairam Ramesh welcomed the "reported decision" of the Union Cabinet. "It's been a long-standing demand of the Congress party to implement women's reservation. Women's reservation bill approved by Cabinet, says MoS Patel

A day after PM <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> addressed people on completion of one year in power, President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah addressed a news conference today, claiming how his party-led federal government had brought a wind of change within a year. 
 
Addressing mediapersons in the national capital, Shah, also a close aide of Modi, said the present government was visible and had weeded out the trust deficit among people towards it. 
 
Shah said that post-independence, people of the nation gave a chance to a non-Congress government. The BJP had won 282 seats in general elections last year and the Congress was left with just 44. 
 
“Earlier, people used to look for government and there was no trust. But, things have changed and now the government is pro-active and has worked to improve the federal structure of India,” said Shah. 
 
Shah, was a star campaigner during general elections who turnaround BJP’s fate in Uttar Pradesh also. He was elevated to President rank in BJP post party’s win after Rajnath Singh took charge as Home Minister. 
 
Meanwhile, Shah also boasted that no one from the opposition could level corruption charges against any minister in Modi’s cabinet. 
 
He took a jibe on Congress over coal scam, saying under Modi regime, the country benefitted immensely from coal block auctions this year. 
 
Shah also attacked Congress on black money issue, which was one of the poll planks last year. 
 
Modi has vowed to bring back money stashed away in abroad. “We have enacted law on black money and we are determined to get it back,” said Shah. 
 
Replying to ‘suit boot ki sarkar’ jibe by Congress, Shah said it was a thing of the past now, while replying to a question. 
 
Later, Shah is to visit Haryana to kick-start 200 big rallies to mark first anniversary of the government. 
 
While he claims that the country wants a change which is why it voted BJP in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir (in coalition), it is yet to see how the party will perform in Bihar elections.

As per BJP insiders, Rupani can play a balancing role in the state polity.
