In a big move, market watchdog <keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SEBI" source="keywords">SEBI</keyword> has banned <keyword id="19902194" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anil-Ambani" source="keywords">Anil Ambani</keyword> from participating in the securities markets for 5 years, for diverting funds from <keyword id="20367971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Home-Finance" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Reliance Home Finance" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Reliance Home Finance">Reliance Home Finance</keyword> (RHF). This means that the debt-ridden Ambani scion will not be able to serve as key managerial personnel, or director in any listed company for the next 5 years. Additionally, he will also have to pay Rs 25 crore as a penalty. Along with Ambani, 24 others, which include former employees of RHF, have also been banned from trading in the securities market for a five year period. RHF itself has been barred from the securities market for 6 months, and has also been penalized Rs 6 lakh. <h2>Not the first time</h2>In its order, SEBI found Ambani guilty of fraud and channeling away RHF funds under the guise of loans by lending them to entities connected to him. This was despite the company's board of directors repeatedly advising to stop such practices. Ambani continued to orchestrate the fraud, thanks to his key position as the chairman of ADA Group, and also because of his shareholding in RHFL's holding company. In July this year, SEBI had barred the infamous fugitive Vijay Mallya from trading in Indian markets for three years, when it was found that Mallya illegally routed funds via foreign banks and companies to spruce up the share value of his own companies and profiting from the same, aka stock rigging. While all his assets in India are frozen, he also cannot serve as the director of any Indian listed company for this duration. But this is not the first time SEBI has debarred people from the markets. Last year, SEBI had barred Mohammad Nasiruddin Ansari, popularly known as <keyword id="22893256" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Baap-of-Charts" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Baap of Charts" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Baap of Charts">Baap of Charts</keyword>, after he was f0und doling out misleading stock-related advise, while pretending to run educative courses. SEBI also asked Ansari to refund Rs 17.2 crore he had collected under the guise of fees. Another popular fin-fluencer, PR Sundar, was barred from options trading for an entire year, when it was found that he was running full fledged investment advisory services i.e. recommending buying and selling stocks, without obtaining the necessary licenses Bollywood actor <keyword id="20003289" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="arshad-warsi" source="keywords">Arshad Warsi</keyword>, along with his wife Maria Goretti, were also banned by SEBI last year after he was found uploading videos that lured investors to buy shares of two specific companies, namely Sadhna Broadcast and Sharpline Broadcast, and thus, profiting about Rs 29.43 lakh and Rs 37.56 lakh, respectively. They were not allowed to trade until they deposited all profits made in this manner in an escrow account. However, the duo, along with Warsi's brother Iqbal Warsi later received relief from SAT (Securities Appellate Tribunal), which set aside SEBI's order.

The story of the <keyword id="24017189" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="internet-domain-name" source="keywords">internet domain name</keyword>, which grabbed a lot of attention on social media platforms in the recent past, ended with "seva and kindness", according to the duo. The unique website ID was said to have been initially registered by a Delhi-based app developer last year amid speculation about the potential merger of <keyword id="19896911" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio" source="keywords">Reliance Jio</keyword> and <keyword id="20445926" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Disney-Hotstar" source="keywords">Disney Hotstar</keyword>. Last month, the developer came up with the demand for funding his higher studies at the Cambridge University in return of the domain's ownership transfer, days after Reliance Jio and The Walth Disney formally announced the merger of their media businesses. Later, the Dubai-based siblings purchased jiohotstar.com domain from its registered owner. According to industry observers, the domain was sold to Dubai-based siblings after Reliance declined his offer. The siblings now shared an update, saying the Reliance IP Legal team approached them and the duo has decided to pass the ownership to them (Reliance), hoping that it would be "useful for them". "Reliance IP legal team has approached us, and we will be transferring this domain to them, free of cost," they said in a message on the website. "There have been some rumours online suggesting that there is a payment or deal involved, but we want to make it clear -- this is not true," the message said. Moreover, the duo in his video also clarified there is "no pressure from anyone" and denied of having a "deal of any kind". "This is purely a transfer of the domain from our side because we believe it could be useful for them. Whether or not they choose to use it is up to them," the message added. PTI reached out to Reliance for its comment on the development but did not receive any response. In their previous message, the siblings said they had received numerous offers, including some genuine ones offering significant amounts. However, they had said that the domain was not for sale. While announcing the "journey with jiohotstar.com is coming to an end", the duo said they are waiting for a draft from the Reliance legal team for the transfer. "The Reliance IP legal team has contacted us. We have told them that the <keyword id="24017190" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="domain-transfer" source="keywords">domain transfer</keyword> will only happen after the agreement is signed. They have asked us to visit Mumbai to sign the agreement," they said, expecting the agreement to be signed soon. "As soon as this happens, we will transfer the domain and this website will come to an end," the message said. Reliance had last week announced completion of the merger of its media assets with the India business of global media giant The Walt Disney, forming a <keyword id="19967298" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="joint-venture" source="keywords">joint venture</keyword> worth around Rs 70,352 crore (USD 8.5 billion). India’s richest man’s philanthropic outgo falls Mukesh Ambani is the third more generous man in India as he donated ₹376 crore in 2023, but his outgo fell by 8% as compared to last year. But it has surprises too. Zerodha’s Nithin Kamath and Nikhil Kamath donated over ₹110 crore in their personal capacity with most of these funds going towards climate and sustainability. At 44 and 37 respectively, they’re also one of the youngest in the list. Manipal’s Ranjan Pai who is 50 years old donated 92 crore, towards education. The average age of India’s most generous philanthropists remains 60. Pai’s allocation went up 512% in the last one year. The other notable names amongst who donated their personal wealth are — A M Naik of L&amp;T who donated ₹150 crore; Sushmita and <keyword id="56651" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="subroto-bagchi" source="Orion">Subroto Bagchi</keyword> of Mindtree and Infosys’ Kris Gopalakrishnan and family. M A Yusuf Ali of Lulu Group also donated more in their personal capacity, and his allocation went up by 350% in FY23. “Cumulative personal donations have increased by 60% to reach ₹4,958 crore, constituting 70% of the total donations in the list. However, their average wealth has decreased by 9.3%. The India Rich List added 273 new entrants and 38 new billionaires over the last year. The number of dollar billionaires also went up to 259, up 38 as compared to last year. “The trends prove that India is a shining moon in a world that is staring at recession. While the China Rich List has dropped 10% for each of this year and last year, both in terms of average wealth and in terms of the number of people that make the list. India is closing the gap,” said Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and Chief Researcher, Hurun India. India has 259 billionaires, up 38 compared to last year. While industrial products, metals &amp; mining added the greatest number of new entrants to the list. Pharma still holds the numero uno position and contributed 133 entrants to the list. “Over the past five years, many entrepreneurs have witnessed extraordinary wealth growth, some experiencing an astonishing 1,000% surge. Construction and engineering emerge as the top gainers in the top 100 list, followed closely by pharmaceuticals which has a cut-off of ₹20,000 crore,” said Anirudha Taparia, co-founder and joint CEO, 360 ONE Wealth. Funding winter &amp; founders’ wealth While 264 in the Indian rich list saw their wealth drop in the last one year, there were as many as 55 dropouts. The most notable of the dropouts is Byju Raveendran. The founder of edtech Byju’s exited the list on the back of investor markdowns. The funding winter and its ripple effects led to startup founders on the list experiencing a collective wealth dip of ₹85,000 crore. Recent policies, like the retrospective GST imposition on gaming companies and the angel tax and so on, could potentially hinder long-term wealth generation by startups, Hurun said. However, a few IPOs that stumbled last year did make a comeback. As new-age internet companies gain in value, entrepreneurs like Deepinder Goyal of Zomato and Yashish Dahiya of PB Fintech have seen their wealth increase by over 70%. Startup wealth creation will persist, albeit within a changing landscape, Junaid said. The IPO stars: Public issues and rich list debuts The stock markets also rewarded many public debuts and made their founders into billionaires. Ramesh Kunhikannan’s Kaynes Technology made a strong stock market debut. And he entered the list with a wealth of ₹8,200 crore. The spectacular listing gains provided by stock market debuts of many companies have pulled their owners into the rich list. Some of them include Jagdish Prasad Chowdhary of Titagarh Wagons, Ranjit Pendurthi of Archean Chemical Industries and Ajay P Thakker &amp; family of Jupiter Life Line Hospitals. Pavan Kumar Bajaj and Karan Bajaj of Electronics Mart India and Harsha Engineers’ Harish Rangwala and Rajendra Shantilal Shah too entered the coveted list of richest Indians after their stocks skyrocketed on debut. But there is money to be made in private markets too. Manish Kejriwal of Kedaara Capital became the first Indian Private Equity fund manager to enter the list.

Saudi oil behemoth Aramco is at 2nd position followed by three giant-sized state-owned Chinese banks. Technology giants Alphabet and Apple are at 7th and 10th place, respectively. Oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance, with sales of USD 109.43 billion and profit of USD 8.3 billion, is the top most-ranked Indian firm at the 45th spot, climbing from the 53rd position it had held in last year's ranking. Reliance was ranked ahead of well-known names like Germany's BMW Group, Switzerland's Nestle, China's Alibaba Group, US-based Procter &amp; Gamble and Japan's Sony. State Bank of India climbed to 77th spot from 105th in the 2022 ranking. HDFC Bank is at 128th position (153 in 2022) and ICICI Bank is at 163 (204 in 2022). Other Indian firms on the list include state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation at 226 and HDFC (232). Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) made its maiden entry at 363 while <keyword id="6357585" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-consultancy-services" source="Orion">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS) slipped to 387th rank from 384 last year.
