Prime Video is Amazon's video streaming services. Tweets from various users flagged the issue, and asked Amazon and Apple for support.&#xa0;</p><p>Several hours after reports of its disappearance, the app was back in Apple's app store, according to Variety.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Screengrabs of this issue included "The developer has removed this app from the App Store," <a href="https://gizmodo.com/amazons-prime-video-app-has-gone-missing-from-the-apple-1838779819">Gizmodo reported</a>.</p><p>Although the app was gone from the App Store, it appeared to work fine on devices where it was already installed.</p><p><a href="https://www.vox.com/recode/2019/10/4/20899157/apple-amazon-video-app-will-return">Recode's Peter Kafka</a> reported that the app should return soon, citing a source familiar with the situation. Kafka's source said "it's related to a bug in Amazon's app that Amazon is working to fix." It announced a single-user subscription plan for ₹599 per year that will only work on mobiles. This initiative makes it easy to access varied content, from movies to matches, anywhere and at any time. <br /><br />The mobile-only Prime video plan was introduced last year in partnership with Bharti Airtel but was accessible to its telecom users only. This time the <keyword id="2976376" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="amazon-prime-video" source="Orion">Amazon Prime Video</keyword> Mobile edition is available for all, and users can watch premium entertainment in Standard Definition (SD) quality.<br /><br />Users will have access to existing Prime Video features, like X-ray powered by IMDb, downloads for offline viewing, Indian and international movies, Amazon Originals, LIVE cricket and more. Amazon launches Prime Video Mobile Edition at ₹599 per year, here's what it includes

<ul><li>According to a survey by YouGov, 57% of Indians want the government to regulate OTT platforms. </li><li>Over 59% of Indians also feel that OTT platforms in the country have a lot of offensive content which is unsuitable for public viewing. </li><li>The Ministry of Information &amp; Broadcasting has reportedly held meetings with OTT heads in India to bring in certification. </li></ul>In what may come as a surprise, 57% of Indians want government regulation for OTT platforms like <keyword id="128682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Netflix">Netflix</keyword>, Amazon Prime, <keyword id="2739840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hotstar">Hotstar</keyword>, Voot etc, according to a survey by YouGov. <br /><br />“Nine in ten (91%) said content- either on TV, films or online, should be regulated by the government, either always (as said by 40%) or sometimes (51%). Men are more likely than women to say they want content to be regulated always (45% vs 34%) while women are more likely to want <keyword id="6425075" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="censorship">censorship</keyword> sometime (56% vs 46%),” stated the report. <br /><br />However, the data was collected online by YouGov Omnibus from just a 1005 respondents, which is a very inadequate sample to draw such a conclusion.<br /><br />According to YouGuv, over 59% of Indians also feel that OTT platforms in the country have a lot of offensive content which is unsuitable for public viewing. Moreover, 47% find it uncomfortable to watch some content around family.Just 30% feel that due to regulation or censorship, the quality of content will suffer. <br /><br />This survey has come at a time when the Indian government is already planning regulation for OTT platforms in the country. The Ministry of Information &amp; Broadcasting reportedly held meetings with OTT heads in India to bring in certification. <br /><br />“I have sought suggestions on how to deal with this because there are regular feature films coming on OTT – good, bad and ugly. So, how to deal with this, who should monitor, who should regulate? There is no certification body for OTT platforms and likewise news portals also,” Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Minister of Information and Broadcasting told PTI in early <a href="https://www.thequint.com/news/india/regulation-needed-for-ott-platforms-says-prakash-javadekar">October</a>.<br /><br />However, the <keyword id="1508470" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="YouGov-survey">YouGov survey</keyword> has caused much furore on social media. He compared Amazon to Apple TV+, which he said was "above board." </p><p>The movie, a reboot of the 1989 film starring <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dirty-dancing-jennifer-grey-patrick-swayze-tears-apologized-2022-5">Patrick Swayze</a>, premiered on Prime Video in March and, according to the streaming service, was watched by 50 million people within the first two weekends of its release.</p> <p>Liman previously criticized Amazon for releasing the film direct-to-streaming and wrote a scathing column for <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://deadline.com/2024/01/road-house-movie-doug-liman-boycott-sxsw-premiere-amazon-1235803736/">Deadline</a> in January. In it, he said that the studio originally agreed to give "Road House" a traditional theatrical release, but plans changed.</p><p>Ahead of the release of his new Apple TV+ movie, "The Instigators," Liman called himself an "advocate" for streaming services in an interview with <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.indiewire.com/features/interviews/doug-liman-amazon-road-house-1235030699/">IndieWire</a> published on Wednesday, and said he had "no issue" with them because these platforms provide constant work for actors, directors, and writers.</p><p>Liman added that he had an issue specifically with how Amazon handled "Road House," and claimed that nobody who worked on it was compensated for its huge success.</p><p>"My issue on 'Road House' is that we made the movie for MGM to be in theaters, everyone was paid as if it was going to be in theaters, and then Amazon switched it on us and nobody got compensated," Liman said. "Forget about the effect on the industry — 50 million people saw 'Road House' — I didn't get a cent, Jake Gyllenhaal didn't get a cent, [producer] Joel Silver didn't get a cent. That's wrong."</p><p>Typically, actors, directors, and producers receive bonuses depending on how well a movie performs. However, the model that most creatives are used to has changed because streaming success isn't as easy to quantify financially, compared to theatrical ticket sales.</p><p>Cases like "Road House" are part of why the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hollywood-studios-and-writers-reached-agreement-to-end-strike-2023-9">writers' and actors' unions went on strike</a> from May to November last year. Many were campaigning for fairer compensation from streaming platforms and other issues like the use of AI and digital replicas in TV and film.</p><p>But Liman said that some streamers are getting it right.</p><p>"In the case of Apple, right from the beginning, we said we're making this for streaming, our contracts compensated streaming, we're all compensated for it being on streaming — there's something called a streaming buyout — so Apple has been above-board from the beginning," he said.</p><p>If Liman and the rest of the "Road House" crew had made similar agreements with Amazon, then they would've been rewarded for the action film's huge success.</p><p>Representatives for Amazon and Prime Video did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.</p>
