And, surprisingly, customers are lapping them up. The customer reviews on the e-commerce sites highlight how seriously the product is being taken by them.

He further asked the customers to not mock the listing as cows are sacred. After the draft e-commerce policy had been announced, Indian industry had voiced their concerns regarding the same. While foreign players not being allowed to take on multi-brand retail, domestic players do not have to comply to such regulations. Indian players like <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> had also mentioned that the policy ignores inventory-based e-commerce players. Founders of Snapdeal, Shopclues were even reported to have come together to set up a lobby for Indian e-commerce which would give the government its inputs on the policy. However, it is not clear whether this panel of bureaucrats will address the exact issues raised by the industry. Meanwhile, Indian e-commerce players have until June 27 to submit their concerns on the draft e-commerce policy. The Indian e-commerce market targeting consumers is estimated to reach $200 billion by 2026, whereas the enterprise e-commerce is expected to hit a whopping $300 billion. As of now, the country’s e-commerce industry is a mere 3% of the global market in size.

"In this new world, data is the new oil. And data is the new wealth. He was alluding to the fact that two biggest e-commerce companies in India are owned by foreigners, and they have access to priceless data on Indian consumer behaviour. Even people from the government echoed the ‘nationalistic’ spin to the story that Ambani offered. “We don’t want to build walls, but at the same time, we explicitly recognize and appreciate that data is a strategic asset,” Aruna Sundararajan, the nation’s secretary of telecommunications said last year at a press conference. The other view can be equally convincing to Ambani’s critics. • Before the Christmas week, an average visitor uplift was seen of 42 percent, which generated a sales uplift of 32 percent 
• It was analyzed that 40 percent shoppers browsed major e-commerce sites through their mobile phones 
• 36 percent of buyers browsed retailers’ websites with a different device before making a final purchase

7. Zomato 
Zomato sits at top of the host of food tech startups India has seen. Its international expansion plans and venture into food ordering and transportation has ensured its leadership in the food-tech space. 
 
8. Zivame 
Zivame offered a niche choice for an already under-served segment. The unavailability of sizes, social discomfort and poor market penetration ensured Zivame.com took the market by storm. 
 
9. RedBus 
RedBus has made a mark on consumer minds, thanks to it’s targeted marketing campaigns and differentiation. Of course, it has now been sold off to the Ibibo group for a whopping $138 Million.
