As they state <a href="https://hoovufresh.com/pages/about-us">on their website</a>, “we saw how the industry changed dramatically - from unorganised, fragmented markets to the setting up of the International Flower Auction Bangalore, the first exports of cut roses from Bangalore and the awe-inspiring Kenyan farm, which was the world’s largest rose farm.” However, while the supply chain in the cut-flower industry changed over the years to add value for both the producers and the end consumers, the supply chain in the ‘traditional flower’ industry remained the same - incredibly fragmented and unorganised, with high wastage. As per Hoovu Fresh, traditional or ‘puja’ flowers are the flowers an average Indian consumer uses almost daily - mostly for prayers or simple, everyday activities. “Most Indians interact with traditional flowers - jasmine, marigold, chrysanthemum, bud roses, etc - every single day. They use it in their morning prayer, to decorate their hair, to hang up in their auto, car, offices. Traditional flower usage is a ubiquitous need, just like the daily newspaper or milk,” states Hoovu Fresh. Combining their knowledge of agriculture with the untapped potential of the industry, the duo came up with a way to reduce the turnaround time from harvest to reaching the customers. Hoovu Fresh claims to have reduced the turnaround time to 12-24 hours from 36-48 hours. The next four positions were captured by noise, Boult, MIVI and pTron. Aman Gupta and Sameer Mehta led boAt has been dominating the TWS segment in India for quite some time now due to its affordable offerings. The company reported a staggering 236% year-on-year growth in Q2 2022. Speaking about the dominance of the Indian companies in the TWS segment, Liz Lee, the associate research director at Counterpoint, said, “These brands together took over 70% share and were quite aggressive in their marketing strategies, introducing new advanced alternatives at affordable prices along with discount schemes through various sales events. With boAt, Noise, Mivi and pTron ramping up their local manufacturing capabilities, these brands together accounted for 98% of the domestic shipment volume in Q2 2022,” said Jain. Domestic production has received a boost as companies are looking to expand production in the country as part of the “Make in India” scheme. “Made in India has been taking the spotlight since this year. But more brands started focusing on local manufacturing this quarter,” Jain added. The Indian government has announced several schemes such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which offers incentives based on the production to companies who produce domestically. We plan on further increasing our production quarterly,” said Vivek Gambhir, chief executive officer, boAt. “We have made significant investments in building an Indian manufacturing ecosystem and are keen to capitalize on the “Make-in-India” initiative through contract manufacturing. We have begun working with over 10 suppliers in India for products across categories. We facilitate development and procurement for these suppliers while making investments in moulds, and establishing quality parameters and testing protocols,” Gambhir added. “Being a home-grown brand, we constantly strive to offer our consumers best in terms of features and pricing which requires tremendous research and better control on production. Indian companies dominate the TWS segment with over 70% of the market share, but domestic manufacturing remains at 16% at best

It aims to manufacture 30-40% of its production volume in the home market, by 2024. The target could have been achieved sooner if conditions in the Indian electronics manufacturing hub were slightly better. India currently has 20% manufacturing disability compared to China and 12% manufacturing disability versus Vietnam. A manufacturing disability is defined as the difference, in percentage, in the selling price of a product and the manufacturing price. This is why boAt chose Vietnam as its second market. By 2024, the company expects the Southeast Asian country to make up for 10% of its production. Together, India and Vietnam will manufacture around 50% of boAt’s products, while China will add another 50%. boAt is not the only one one taking notice of Vietnam. The country’s rise as a major manufacturing hub for international exports in the last decade can be described as meteoric. South Korea-based electronics giant Samsung has one of its largest facilities outside its home country in Vietnam. The company assembles half of its global handsets in Vietnam and has benefited after the US-China trade war. However, as Gambhir explained, the cost of manufacturing in India has to be more competitive than it is right now. He added that while Vietnam is a better strategic location for now, compared to India, they want to be a leader in the Make-in-India campaign over the next few years. Challenges ahead of boAt to makes its Make-in-India desire a success According to the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) Disability Identification<a href="https://home.jeita.or.jp/iad/pdf/IESA/IESA-EY%20-%20Indian%20ESDM%20Disability%20Identification%20Report%20-%20Executive%20Summary.pdf"> Study</a>, the electronic products made in India could be less competitive anywhere between 7% and 26%, depending on the nature of the product. But cost is not the only factor. The recently unveiled production-linked incentives in India, along with the import duty hikes, will bring down costs, Purnendu Kumar, practice leader of consumer and retail at consultancy Praxis Global Alliance, told Business Insider. Even if the cost is brought down, the ecosystem is yet to mature. “We are working with about five plus local partners [in India], but there's a certain amount of, you know, hand holding required to be able to actually work with them and educate them in terms of our products getting manufactured,” he added. Therefore, Vietnam is higher up the ladder for boAt at the moment, especially due to “high quality manufacturing opportunities”. The free trade agreement between India and the Southeast Asian country is another boon that reduces imports and exports barriers among the two nations. As for boAt, India will continue to be its research and development (R&amp;D) hub. It has set up a R&amp;D centre in Bengaluru earlier this year, in addition to its existing R&amp;D unit. The company also hired 30 employees in both these labs during the pandemic. INTERVIEW: This Indian challenger to Apple and Samsung explains why it chose India and Vietnam to make a bulk of its products

The brand which is known for its affordable speakers has got ₹20 crore in venture debt from him. The three-year old brand has already registered ₹100 crores in FY'18 as gross sales and is eyeing ₹500 crores in the next couple of years. “Venture Debt definitely helps us keep the capital structure intact. boAt’s financial performance has been strong since inception. Our efficient and lean business model coupled with targeted business insights has allowed the brand to enjoy logical margins so that we can earn money and not burn money,” said Aman Gupta, co-founder, boAt. According to the company, boAt sells over 8,000 units per day and on an average five units every minute. Along with e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, the brand is also seen in the shelves of offline retail stores like Croma and Vijay Sales. The audio brand had raised ₹6 crore from Fireside Ventures in May 2018. Meanwhile, Bansal has been upping his game with his investments. He had recently invested ₹200 crore in Piramal Enterprises’ debt and has subscribed to its non-convertible debentures (NCDs). Bansal had also invested in the ride hailing unicorn Ola and electric bike startup Ather Energy. Bansal had announced his exit from Flipkart after its $16 billion acquisition by Walmart in 2018.

<ul><li>As many as 27 startups that appeared on the show secured funds from external investors, says Redseer Consulting.</li><li>Startups on the show cumulatively raised ₹100 crore on <keyword id="1417364" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shark-tank" source="Orion">Shark Tank</keyword> across seasons 1 and 2.</li><li>The biggest shark amongst all is Aman Gupta, the founder of BoAt who invested ₹24.6 crore across 70 deals. </li></ul><keyword id="13108748" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shark-tank-judges" source="Orion">Shark Tank judges</keyword> are indeed sharks who have bargained the best deals — putting in a lot less than what was asked — and making the startup founders dilute a lot more than they intended to. True to their nature, they also picked a lot of winners who were able to gain business, funding along with publicity from screen time – that has helped many D2C brands in particular. Redseer Consulting, in a recently released report, has found that 27 startups that appeared on season 1 of the show secured funds from external investors. ”Most startups that appeared on the show secured deals 6 times greater in value from outside investors within a span of 1.5 years. Their current valuation is also 2.5 times greater than what they were valued on <keyword id="15913368" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shark-tank-season-1" source="Orion">Shark Tank season 1</keyword>,” said Kanishka Mohan, partner at Redseer Consulting. In season 1, as many as 117 pitches were made, out of which 65 of them accepted deals on the show, 20 rejected deals and 32 were not offered a deal at all. All these sections of startups, received a fair amount of interest from external investors. Six startups which were not offered a deal on the show like — On2Cook, Theka Coffee, Good Piggy Bank, Sabjikothi and Nushka were able to secure deals outside. “In all, most startups that appeared on the show fared well afterward, securing better deals and increasing valuations,” the consulting firm said. Who’s the biggest shark? As much as ₹100 crore was invested in startups that pitched their ideas on Shark Tank season 1 and 2 by eight sharks. And the shark with the most appetite is Aman Gupta, the founder of BoAt who invested ₹24.6 crore across 70 deals. He is followed closely by Peyush Bansal, the co-founder and CEO of Lenskart who invested ₹21.5 crore across 67 deals. The most active shark of season 1 who missed the second season is Ashneer Grover, the co-founder of BharatPe, who invested ₹5.3 crore in 21 deals. Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal who was recognized as one of India’s best angel investors, as per Hurun, had invested ₹14.4 crore across 50 deals on the show. Sharks loved to invest in startups pertaining to the food and beverage sector . Amongst the few deals made in healthcare and manufacturing, most of them came from Thapar and Bansal who have expertise in these sectors. “Most of the deals made on the show had one shark onboard; however, it never happened that all the sharks invested in a single business,” Redseer said. <table style="border-width: initial;
