In Delhi, which stands as one of the top locations for extravagant weddings, the expected impact is particularly significant. Approximately 4.5 lakh weddings are projected in the capital city, potentially contributing around ₹1.5 lakh crore to the local economy. This surge benefits a variety of sectors, including hospitality, fashion, gold and jewellery, and even technology, as digital services and e-invitations become more prevalent. The build-up to this wedding season has already shown signs of economic revival, particularly in sectors like gold and jewellery. Suvankar Sen, MD &amp; CEO of Senco Gold, noted a marked increase in wedding-related purchases during the recent Dhanteras festival. Speaking in an interview with CNBC TV-18, Sen highlighted that the August duty cut on gold played a significant role in spurring early buying behaviour. He pointed out that this policy move helped lower the cost of gold, enticing consumers to make significant purchases ahead of the peak wedding months. "We can see at least 40-50% of the consumers who are buying right now are related to weddings, and the 40-50% who are not related to weddings, are divided amongst consumers with a budget of ₹2-3 lakh buying some kind of jewellery as an annual buying during this auspicious time. Some consumers are buying working women's jewellery or lightweight for their daughters, something within ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh kind of buying happening. ₹20,000-30,000 is a budget consumer at all levels, some kind of a pendant, ring or earring that everyone would like to buy during this auspicious time. Now, signs have emerged that they're not yet done with generative AI mania.As September rolled into October, some of the most significant investment areas in AI received fresh votes of confidence — be it in the chip space, the large language model arena, and devices. In short, a lossmaking startup must justify its $157 billion valuation. A chip firm worth up to $8 billion must persuade investors not to worry about its undiversified revenue streams. Meta will need to convince consumers to switch to another way of interacting with AI entirely. All of these things may come to pass. If so, this will be seen as a juncture where AI goes on to truly revolutionize the industries it touches — and repay the faith of investors. But if history is anything to go by, the high-stakes tech world is rarely plain sailing.

So when he says the current market environment reminds him a lot of the dot-com bubble peak, it doesn't mean he thinks a significant pullback is imminent.It does mean, however, that he sees a big decline somewhere not too far off."This looks and feels like the year 2000 to me," Arnott told Business Insider on November 11. "Are we likely to see a bear market in the next two years for large-cap growth? Yeah."Arnott's comments came as the S&amp;P 500 — a large-cap index dominated by mega-cap growth firms known as the Magnificent Seven — jumped 5% within a week following the election of Donald Trump, closing above 6,000 for the first time. The explosive move was the latest advance in a torrid 66% rally that's lasted more than two years.A robust economy and excitement about artificial intelligence and business-friendly policies from the future Trump administration have propelled the market to all-time highs. But Arnott believes AI optimism, which has driven the lion's share of the rally, is already fully priced in.Those high expectations are visible in the S&amp;P 500's Shiller cyclically adjusted price-to-earnings ratio, Arnott said, which sits at levels that rival the dot-com bubble peak. "Well, Intel is teetering perilously close to irrelevance, and Nvidia wasn't on anyone's radar screen five years ago. So disruptors get disrupted."There's also the possibility that the pace of AI adoption is slower than expected, Arnott said. He said internet use in 2005 wasn't all that different from its use in 2000, but that today, things have completely changed. A longer timeline may play out for AI as well, he said.Arnott joins a long list of strategists and money managers who have recently expressed lackluster outlooks about forward return prospects, given the state of stock valuations.Goldman Sachs' Chief US Equity Strategist <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sp500-outlook-next-decade-forecast-david-kostin-goldman-stocks-strategist-2024-11">David Kostin</a> made waves in October when he said the S&amp;P 500 would deliver 3% annualized returns over the next 10 years. As short-term interest rates fall and the market-friendly policies of the Trump administration on the way, the rally could continue for months or years.But history shows there will likely eventually be cheaper times to buy into the market, said David Einhorn, founder of hedge fund Greenlight Capital, at CNBC's Delivering Alpha conference on Wednesday."This is a really, really, really pricey environment, but it doesn't necessarily make me bearish. Asset prices can trade at the wrong price and they can trade at the wrong price for a long period of time," Einhorn said. "I just observe that it's a really expensive market that if you buy and hold for a very long period of time, I doubt that this is a great — you'll look back and say this was a great entry point of all of the entry points that you could have."The way Arnott sees things, that better entry point could come in the next couple of years.

This is the second straight session that precious metal prices have hit all-time high levels. In the previous trade, the precious metal had settled at Rs 69,200 per 10 grams. Silver prices also zoomed Rs 1,000 to hit record Rs 81,700 per kg. In the previous session, it had finished at Rs 80,700 per kg. "Spot gold prices (24 carats) in the Delhi markets are trading at Rs 70,050 per 10 grams, up by Rs 850, amid a bullish trend in the overseas markets," Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst of Commodities at HDFC Securities, said. In the international markets, spot gold at COMEX was trading at USD 2,297 per ounce, up by USD 22 from the previous close. Gold touched yet another record after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell confirmed that an interest rate cut would likely be appropriate "at some point this year". Traders focus on rate cuts rather than the timing of the first rate cut, Gandhi said. Silver was also trading higher at USD 27.05 per ounce. It had closed at USD 26.25 per ounce in the previous session. "Gold continues to hover around its all-time high levels on the back of weakness in the dollar amid uncertainty over US interest rate cuts, while increased safe-haven demand also aided prices. "Additionally, silver prices too marked an all-time high on the domestic front, amidst a sharp rally in industrial metals," Navneet Damani, Senior VP of Commodity Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, said. Persistent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and between Russia and Ukraine, coupled with a devastating earthquake in Taiwan, spurred safe haven plays into bullion and other precious metals, Damani added. According to Praveen Singh - Associate VP, Fundamental Currencies and Commodities at Sharekhan by BNP Paribas, "Major US economic data, including weekly jobless claims to be released on Thursday, will provide more insights on the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy outlook".
