<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="13302282" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="kevin-holland" source="Orion">Kevin Holland</keyword> beat <keyword id="13318723" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="alex-oliveira" source="Orion">Alex Oliveira</keyword> at <keyword id="11922275" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ufc" source="Orion">UFC</keyword> 272 in Las Vegas.</li><li>The American stylist scored a win in fun fashion before delivering a cool promo.</li></ul><p>LAS VEGAS — <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/kevin-holland" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kevin Holland</a> may be one of the <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/ufc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UFC</a>'s most fun fighters after he scored an awesome finish and cut an epic promo Saturday at the UFC 272 event that took place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.</p><p>American fighter Holland overcame a first-round slam to the canvas, hurtful strikes that dazed him, and a whole bunch of leg kicks to triumph early in the second round.</p><p>Holland may have lost the first round on all three judges scorecards, but that mattered little when a fighter like him as match-ending power in his mitts.</p><p>And 38 seconds into the second, he showed that to its fullest extend, putting Oliveira down with a shot early in the round, before brutal ground-and-pound — that featured horrific punches from the top, and painful elbows for good measure — forced referee Chris Tognoni to intervene.</p><p>Holland limited Oliveira to just two shots landed in the second round, while landing 20 of 27 himself for a 74% accuracy rate, while scoring a knockdown for good measure, too.</p><p><strong>Watch Holland shrug off a submission attempt at the end of the first round here:</strong></p><p><strong>And see the aftermath of his early finish in the second round here:</strong></p><p>Holland had done it, but he wasn't done yet.</p><p>He then got on the mic and cut a WWE promo of epic proportions.</p><p id="LAOKxi">"'Cowboy' [Oliveira] really came to scrap," Holland said after his win was confirmed, before remarking on his new campaign at welterweight. "I started off a little flat, I guess I was just getting used to being in the weight class.</p><p id="q7aCPT">"Honestly, I don't know who exactly I want next. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Professional fighter <keyword id="13302282" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="kevin-holland" source="Orion">Kevin Holland</keyword> has beaten up two online trolls this year.</li><li>But becoming internet-famous for that has had an adverse effect.</li></ul><p>LAS VEGAS — American fighter <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/kevin-holland" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kevin Holland</a> is known for two things — kicking ass and becoming internet-famous for beating-up online trolls.</p><p>The <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/ufc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UFC</a> welterweight competes Saturday against Alex Oliveira at the ESPN pay-per-view <keyword id="11922275" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ufc" source="Orion">UFC</keyword> 272, inside the T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip.</p><p>Ahead of the big show, Holland told reporters at a media event Insider attended Wednesday that fighting trolls in his gym had an adverse effect as he's now getting even more trolls in his DMs.</p><p>"They start trolling even more!" he said.</p><p>It's a uniquely weird phenomenon, and it seemingly all began earlier this year.</p><p><a href="https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/33188875/ufc-fighter-kevin-holland-choked-online-troll-grappling-match-more-year-harassment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ESPN reported</a> in January that Holland had been receiving messages for months from Jayden Parker, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner who claimed he could submit the fighter.</p><p>Finally, Holland accepted Parker's challenge. He paid for some travel expenses and invited him into his gym before promptly making him tap to a chokehold.</p><p>"Bottom line, people were saying things they shouldn't be saying," Holland told ESPN.</p><p>"And they pull up to the gym, and they finally get what they deserve. That's just how it goes. Respect is big. Respect the athlete, respect the sport, respect the people that entertain you. Simple as that."</p><p>Weeks later, in mid-February, Holland took out his second internet troll with a barrage of body kicks. "Honestly, I liked this troll way more," he said at the time.</p><p><strong>Watch the beatdown right here (scroll right):</strong></p><p>But even though he dealt with these two particular trolls in public, others kept coming for him.</p><p>Beating up trolls "was the wrong answer on my behalf," Holland conceded this week. "I got my work cut out for me."</p><p>As for his fight this weekend, against a legitimate combatant rather than a cyberbully, Holland called Oliveira "an OG, a legend, and I'm very happy to be fighting him."</p><p>He said: "I knew I had to continue working on the grappling because that's what everybody expects to be my downfall, but I also know he's a good striker.</p><p>"I've been watching him for a while. <ul class="summary-list"><li>An American fighter is trying to use <keyword id="11928262" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="conor-mcgregor" source="Orion">Conor McGregor</keyword>'s name to rattle the Nurmagomedov family.</li><li><keyword id="13174287" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="brian-kelleher" source="Orion">Brian Kelleher</keyword>'s plan spectacularly backfired, though, as McGregor did not respond.</li></ul><p>American <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/ufc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UFC</a> fighter Brian Kelleher wants <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/conor-mcgregor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Conor McGregor</a> to work with him so he can seemingly try and antagonize the Nurmagomedov family.</p><p>Kelleher fights <keyword id="13174288" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="umar-nurmagomedov" source="Orion">Umar Nurmagomedov</keyword> in a bantamweight match March 5 during the <keyword id="11922275" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ufc" source="Orion">UFC</keyword> 272 event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.</p><p>Umar is a cousin of <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/khabib-nurmagomedov" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Khabib Nurmagomedov</a>, the former UFC lightweight champion who retired unbeaten in 2020 having beaten a who's who of elite <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/mma" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MMA</a> fighters like Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, and Conor McGregor.</p><p>Khabib and McGregor shared a heated rivalry after the Irishman insulted the Dagestan wrestler's background, nationality, and family, long after Nurmagomedov submitted him with a neck crank in the fourth round.</p><p>"Hey, would you like to corner me in my next fight at UFC 272 against Khabib's cousin Umar?" <a href="https://twitter.com/brianboom135/status/1492594484680536066" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kelleher tweeted McGregor at the weekend</a>.</p><p>Kelleher's plan to apparently manipulate McGregor's bad blood with the Nurmagomedov's to upset Umar spectacularly backfired.</p><p>McGregor did not even respond, and Umar seemed unfazed at the prospect.</p><p>"It's not gonna help you, Brian," he said.</p><p>Nurmagomedov and Kelleher compete on the main card of the 14-bout pay-per-view event that will be broadcast on ESPN next month.</p><p>Elsewhere that night, Kevin Holland fights Alex Oliveira at welterweight, Edson Barboza fights Bryce Mitchell at featherweight, and Rafael dos Anjos fights Rafael Fiziev at lightweight.</p><p>Former friends turned welterweight rivals Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal take part in a highly-anticipated main event.</p>

An American UFC fighter wants Conor McGregor to work with him to try and antagonize the Nurmagomedov family

<p>A few days after Donald Trump was elected, 35-year-old Eric Tucker saw something suspicious: A cavalcade of large white buses stretched down main street near downtown Austin, Texas.</p><p>Tucker snapped a few photos and took to Twitter, posting the following message:</p><p class="source"><span>Snopes</span></p><p>Tucker was wrong - a company called Tableau Software was actually holding a 13,000-person conference that day and had hired the buses. But as the New York Times noted last year, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/20/business/media/how-fake-news-spreads.html">it hardly seemed to matter</a>.</p><p>The erroneous post got shared more than 350,000 times on Facebook and 16,000 times on Twitter, mostly by right-wing Americans drawn to the idea that people on the left had orchestrated an anti-Trump conspiracy. Trump even appeared to join in:</p><p>Tucker subsequently acknowledged his error in a new tweet. But a week later, the truthful post had only gotten retweeted <a href="http://www.snopes.com/anti-trump-protesters-bused-into-austin/">29 times</a>, according to the debunking website Snopes.</p><p>Why did the false tweet get so much more attention? <a href="http://nature.com/articles/doi:10.1038/s41562-017-0132">A new study published June 26</a> in the journal Nature looks into why fake posts like Tucker's can go so viral.</p><p>Economists concluded that it comes down to two factors. First, each of us has limited attention. Second, at any given moment, we have access to a lot of information - arguably more than at any previous time in history. Together, that creates a scenario in which facts compete with falsehoods for finite mental space. Often, falsehoods win out.</p><p><a href="http://www.diegofregolent.com/">Diego F. M. Oliveira</a><span>, the study's lead author and a post-doctoral fellow at Indiana University and Northwestern University,</span> tested this idea by creating a theoretical model for the spread of information. The model was loosely based on epidemiological models that public health researchers use to study the spread of disease. Oliviera's team had bots or "agents" produce messages containing new memes - essentially fake news - on sites like Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook, and re-share messages created or forwarded by their neighboring bots in a network.</p><p>"Quality is not a necessary ingredient for explaining popularity patterns in online social networks," Oliveira wrote in his paper, adding, "Paradoxically, our behavioral mechanisms to cope with information overload may ... increas[e] the spread of misinformation and mak[e] us vulnerable to manipulation."</p><p>In other words, the study suggests that most people only focus on real news for short amounts of time, so adding fake news to the mix leads to more competition for our attention. Every few minutes, we make quick decisions about which facts to accept and which to discard. In the process, we may end up disregarding factual information simply because there is so much of it out there.</p><p>According to the authors of the study, the fact so many people get news from their social media feeds could also make it harder to distinguish truth from fiction. <p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>The number of overweight and obese people has skyrocketed over the past thirty years, jumping from 857 million in 1980 to more than 2 billion in 2013. That's approximately a third of the world's population.</span></p>

<p>While the United States is often pegged as the standard-bearer for overweight populations, there are more than a few countries tracking close behind.</p>
<p>With people in the world becoming more sedentary thanks to desk and computer jobs and more and more gaining access to high calorie, high fat foods like fast food and soda, the obesity epidemic will become a massive public health crisis in the coming decades, unless drastic steps are taken.</p>
<p>A new study out in The Lancet by the Global Burden of Disease <a href="http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(14)60460-8/fulltext#article_upsell">has revealed the ten countries with the highest rates of obesity</a>. A few may surprise you.</p>
