Telecom operator Airtel has said its retail stores have now opened across most locations and that measures such as 'Concierge Service' have been rolled out for delivery of SIM card at customers' doorsteps or for installation of broadband and DTH. In a note to subscribers, <keyword id="3803888" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel-CEO-Gopal-Vittal">Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal</keyword> said that while restrictions are lifting in large parts of the country, "there seems to be even more uncertainty" as people are worried about safety of their loved ones, and there is growing concern about incomes and jobs. "At Airtel, we empathize with this uncertainty. So as each of us adapts to this new context, there is one thing we don't want you to worry about - your need to stay connected," Vittal said. Outlining measures taken by the company to ensure connectivity and continuation of services in the backdrop of the lockdown and coronavirus pandemic, Vittal said that more than a million customers have already enrolled into its 'Super Heroes' program, and have helped many more millions stay connected. "...if you want to help someone get access to our services or help pay their bills or recharge for them, we have our Super Heroes initiative. He said the company's retail stores are now open across most locations, and that Airtel will take all necessary precautions to ensure that staff and customers remain safe. "If you prefer to be served at your home, we now have a Concierge Service and would be delighted to come to your home. Whether it is delivery of a SIM card at your doorstep or an installation of a broadband or DTH, we can do it all," he said, adding that the field teams have been trained on a new contactless delivery and installation protocol. The 'Digital Channels' have been made even more simple to ensure that users can easily recharge mobile/TV, pay bills, buy new services or raise a complaint from anywhere, he said. Airtel CEO announces retail stores open in most locations — outlines precautionary measures

New Delhi, Jul 6 () Bharti Airtel on Monday said it will give preference to platinum mobile customers, who pay Rs 499 and above per month for post paid connection, on its 4G network. The platinum customers will get better 4G speed on Bharti Airtel network compared to other customers. "Airtel has deployed advanced technologies that give its Platinum mobile customers preference on the network. As a result all Platinum customers will experience faster 4G speeds. As part of the Airtel Thanks program, all postpaid mobile customers on Rs 499 and above plans are designated as Platinum," the company said in a statement. In addition, Airtel Platinum customers will get "red carpet customer care" with preferential service at call centres and retail stores. "All Airtel call centres and retail stores have dedicated staff to attend to Platinum customers on priority and cut down on waiting time," the company said. Airtel will also home deliver 4G sim to platinum customers, according to the statement. "It has been our endeavour to offer a differentiated service experience to our Platinum mobile customers as part of the Airtel Thanks program. And that's where we will deliver that 'extra' service experience to them, including faster speeds by giving them preference on our 4G network, while continuing to serve each of our 280 million customers with the same passion," Bharti Airtel CMO Shashwat Sharma said. Xiaomi's India head Manu Jain announced these new partnerships on Twitter and tweeted that customers can now purchase Mi products from Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon, The Mobile Stores and Airtel India stores. 
 With a market share of 3-4%, Xiaomi has recently partnered with <keyword id="248099" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="The-MobileStore">The MobileStore</keyword> to sell its products in the offline retail. To outgrow its business it has recently tied up with Bharti Airtel to sell Red Mi Note 4G through the carrier's 133 stores in areas where Airtel offers 4G services.

By the end of March 2024, the company plans to offer its <keyword id="15491" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="airtel" source="Orion">Airtel</keyword> 5G services in every town and key rural areas. "Airtel will continue to stay true to its commitment to build a more connected, equitable and sustainable network," Randeep Sekhon, Chief Technology Officer, Bharti Airtel, said in a statement. "With cutting-edge 5G infrastructure, a fantastic partner ecosystem and a dedicated workforce that is customer-obsessed, we believe we are on the right path to win and deliver a world-class 5G Plus experience to customers across the length and breadth of the country," Sekhon added. Airtel 5G Plus uses a technology "that has the widest acceptance in the world with the most developed ecosystem," the company said. This makes sure that all 5G smartphones in the country seamlessly work on the Airtel network. The company also guarantees to deliver the best experience by providing customers "between 20 to 30 times higher speeds than today coupled with brilliant voice experience and superfast call connect". "In November 2022, Airtel became the first and only operator to have one million unique customers on its network within 30 days of its commercial launch," it added. Last week, the company also created 5G experience zones across all its retail stores in the country where customers can experience Airtel 5G Plus. Airtel crosses 10 million unique customers on 5G network

New Delhi, Jun 4 () E-commerce giant Amazon is in exploratory discussions with telecom operator Bharti Airtel for a possible investment, according to sources. While the investment amount could not be immediately ascertained, a report pegged it at about USD 2 billion. When contacted, a Bharti spokesperson said, "We routinely work with all digital and OTT players and have deep engagement with them to bring their products, content and services for our wide customer base. Beyond that there is no other activity to report." An Amazon India spokesperson said the company does not comment on speculation about what it may or may not do in future. The latest buzz comes at a time when Indian telecom companies seem to be on the radar of global investors and tech giants. Over the past few weeks, Reliance Industries' digital unit Jio Platforms has raised billions of dollars from marquee technology investors including Facebook, KKR, Silver Lake Partners, Vista Equity Partners and General Atlantic. Market sources said talks are on between Amazon and Airtel for a possible investment and equity buy, but the discussions are at a "very initial stage". An industry watcher who did not wish to be identified said more deals may be in the offing as global tech companies eye a bigger slice of the Indian market, working in tandem with the telecom operators. At 574 million, India boasts of the world's second largest base of internet users. Last week, there were reports that Alphabet Inc's Google is eyeing about 5 per cent stake in Vodafone Idea, although the telecom operator clarified that it constantly evaluates various opportunities and there is no proposal before the board of the firm as yet. On May 26, Airtel's promoter firm Bharti Telecom sold 2.75 per cent stake in the company to institutional investors in the secondary market, raising over Rs 8,433 crore. The sale proceeds will be fully utilised to repay debt at Bharti Telecom and will make the promoter holding firm a 'debt free company'. Amazon, which has pumped billions of dollars into its Indian e-commerce operations, is looking at strengthening its foothold in the local market. A potential investment will provide it greater firepower to take on Walmart-backed Flipkart as well as recently launched JioMart, following Facebook's USD 5.7 billion investment in Jio Platforms. JioMart -- a new Reliance Retail Ltd commerce marketplace which connects customers with kirana stores and other small and micro-local Indian businesses -- plans to leverage the huge reach that Facebook's WhatsApp has in the country. Apart from investing in e-commerce and food retail businesses, Amazon has also picked up stake in various offline retail chains in India. In 2017, retail major Shoppers Stop had announced raising Rs 179.26 crore from Amazon.com Investment Holdings LLC through an issue of equity shares, which translated to just over 5 per cent shareholding. In September 2018, Amazon said it had co-invested in Witzig Advisory Services, the entity which had acquired Aditya Birla Retail's More chain of stores in India. In August last year, Future Retail had informed stock exchanges that Amazon.Com NV Investment Holdings LLC would acquire 49 per cent stake in Future Coupons Ltd from the promoters, led by Kishore Biyani, for an undisclosed amount. While <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> consumers are still dealing with network issues, Airtel just announced ‘Project Next’ that includes a slew of initiatives targeted to make customer experience “simple, interactive and transparent”. 
 Ever since Reliance <keyword id="2003276" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jio">Jio</keyword>’s entry in the telecom space in India, there have been many changes in the way incumbent telecom operators have carried out their business. We saw what happened to the telecom tariff after Jio launched its commercial services in September last year. The impact seems to be still on. 
 
Airtel announced that it plans to invest up to Rs 2000 crores over the next 3 years under Project Next to launch several digital innovations to up the “simplicity and interactivity” of the Airtel customer experience. Airtel could be looking at it as an extension to the earlier announced Project Leap initiative wherein the company announced investment to build future ready network.

So Airtel says it has spent some time (“2450 hours” to be precise) observing customers and mapping traffic flows within its stores. One of the biggest announcements for Airtel consumers is Airtel’s “Data roll over promise” where consumers can carry forward their unused data from the previous month to the next billing cycle. This will allow consumers to get te best out of the data pack and will result in no data wastage. This is an industry frist move and can certainly benefit the consumers. Consumers can avail this new feature from 1st August, 2017. 
 
 
Apart from the data roll over plan, Airtel also announced redesigning of its over 2500 Airtel stores across India. Airtel says the new stores will be open and minimalistic by design, and will have digital technologies to make the customer experience highly interactive through the concept of Share, Create, Experience. As part of the project even the Airtel App will get a makeover. The new App is looking to provide real time experience from change of plans to real time notifications to fulfilment of services and self-care.
