Revenue of telecom service providers through wireless services is likely to fall in the first quarter of FY20-21 due to the nationwide lockdown, according to a report by Emkay Global Financial Services. The report noted that the lockdown delayed recharges by low ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) prepaid subscribers on account of the reverse labour migration and impact on income levels along with curbed subscriber additions, SIM consolidation and absence of international roaming revenues. "We expect ARPU to decline sequentially in Q1FY21 after healthy growth in Q4FY20. Bharti (<keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword>) and VIL (<keyword id="1553175" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone-Idea">Vodafone Idea</keyword>) are likely to see 5 per cent quarter-on-quarter (qoq) fall in ARPU. Home broadband to see a healthy increase in new connections, boosted by the lockdown," it said. Subscriber addition shall moderate due to the lack of smartphone sales in April and early May, the report said adding that the reverse migration could lead to subscriber loss for the industry due to delayed or no recharges. Further, it noted that cost savings are expected from marketing, channel margins and other admin costs. Network opex shall continue to rise on increased utilisations. In case of Reliance Jio, the report said that "partial flow-through of the Dec 2019 tariff hike in Q1FY21 would get offset by lockdown-led delayed recharges, resulting in wireless revenues growth of 1 per cent qoq". Lower contribution from international roaming would also restrict ARPU for Jio as compared to peers, it said. "We project subscriber additions to be compressed at 6 million and ARPU to decline 2 per cent qoq, negatively impacted by the lockdown. Similar to Bharti and VIL, subscriber acquisition cost shall fall, leading to 114bps qoq expansion in EBITDA margin." Airtel and Vodafone Idea's revenues take a hit due to Coronavirus lockdown

The company's revenue for the period under review was $965 million compared with $844 million earned during the July-September quarter of the last financial year. In a statement, the company said that its <keyword id="445843" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="customer-base">customer base</keyword> grew by 12.0 per cent to $116.4 million during the quarter. <keyword id="702372" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raghunath-Mandava">Raghunath Mandava</keyword>, CEO of <keyword id="15491" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> Africa, said: "The first half of our fiscal year included the peak impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the countries where we operate in, as <keyword id="8960115" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lockdown-measures">lockdown measures</keyword> were swiftly implemented to stem the initial spread of the contagion." Airtel Africa Q2 net profit slumps 9% amid coronavirus woes

Vahan is a tech startup that uses artificial intelligence to match job seekers with employers through messaging apps such as WhatsApp. Airtel and Vahan will now use their resources to provide migrants and workers access to relief services such as food, shelter, healthcare and jobs. What Airtel and Vahan are doing to help migrants and workers Airtel will launch an SMS campaign to reach out to the impacted workers on its network in Delhi and Bengaluru. The SMS, which will be sent in English, Hindi and Kannada will include a link that will direct users to Vahan’s website. Vahan will then use its AI solutions to connect the user with the nearest relief provider. As per the company, it created a resource pool of over 1,000 NGOs that are involved in helping the citizens. Airtel partners with tech startup Vahan to help people find jobs, food, shelter and healthcare

Telecom operator Airtel has said its retail stores have now opened across most locations and that measures such as 'Concierge Service' have been rolled out for delivery of SIM card at customers' doorsteps or for installation of broadband and DTH. JioFiber, Airtel offers to help you work from home during the Coronavirus pandemic

<ul><li>Bharti Airtel has officially launched its Security Intelligence Centre to protect enterprises from cyberthreats.</li><li>The company’s CEO Gopal Vittal claims that it took around ₹100 crore of investment and over a year to set up. </li><li>Vittal also revealed that the company already has 20 paying customers using the new platform and is hoping that the commercial launch will bring in more clients. </li></ul>To address the growing threat of cyber attacks on data and information, Bharti Airtel has now launched a new cybersecurity product called <keyword id="4644317" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel-Secure">Airtel Secure</keyword> for enterprises. It operates out of the Airtel Security Intelligence Centre set up in Manesar. According to Bharti Airtel’s CEO Gopal Vittal, the hub took an investment of over ₹100 crore and over a year to set up. But it’s a small price to pay for a piece of the cybersecurity market that is estimated to grow to $13 to $15 billion over the next five years. “We already have a couple of large companies who are already using our Security Intelligence Centre. We’re starting to bundle it for small and medium enterprises as well,” said Vittal, citing that around 20 paying customers already live on the product. The Government of India is also one of the potential customers with it already working hand-in-hand with the National Security Advisor (NSA). Vittal highlighted that there’s a team of over 500 cybersecurity experts behind the ‘integrated and automated’ facility. The commission conducts civil services examination annually in three stages -- preliminary, main and interview -- to select officers of <keyword id="106848" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Administrative-Service">Indian Administrative Service</keyword> (<keyword id="46130" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IAS">IAS</keyword>), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and <keyword id="78965" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Police-Service">Indian Police Service</keyword> (<keyword id="48959" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPS">IPS</keyword>) among others. "Due to the prevailing conditions caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Union Public Service Commission has deferred the civil services (preliminary) examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 27th June, 2021. Now, this examination will be held on 10th October, 2021," a statement issued by the commission said.
