<ul><li>The Indian PC market recorded its second-best quarter with a shipment of 4.49 million devices in Q3 2024.</li><li>The growth in part is due to the online festival sales by e-commerce giants and retailers.</li><li>HP continues to lead the Indian PC market with a share of over 29%.</li></ul> The Indian personal computer or PC market has recorded its second highest-ever shipments at 4.49 million devices in Q3 2024, recording a 0.1% growth year-on-year. According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), the growth in sales was recorded due to online festival sales which began early this year. “The e-tail sales, which typically start around the second week of October, began in late September, leading to a surge in PC shipments,” said Bharath Shenoy, Research Manager, IDC India &amp; South Asia. In Q3 2024, desktops recorded an 8.1% year-on-year decline, notebooks recorded a 2.8% year-on-year growth and workstations recorded a 2.4% year-on-year growth. Premium notebooks priced above $1,000 recorded a 7.6% year-on-year growth. “Brands capitalized on e-tail sales by offering steep discounts, cashback, and bundled accessories. Many of them also matched similar pricing in their brand stores and offline channels like Larger Format Retail stores (LFRs), leading to the second biggest consumer quarter in history,” Shenoy added. Acer has recorded good growth, with its market share rising from 11.6% in Q3 2023 to 14.6% in Q3 2024. Asus on the other hand reported a decline from 12.5% in Q3 2023 to 9.7% in Q3 2024. “The Commercial PC Market in India is on the recovery path as enterprises have slowly started refreshing their IT devices. Brokerages remain bullish on Bharti Airtel post Q4 results

<ul><li>India’s second-largest telecom company Bharti <keyword id="15491" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel" source="Orion">Airtel</keyword> reported average revenue per user of ₹193 for Q4, unchanged from the December quarter. </li><li>Airtel’s revenue in the March quarter rose 14% YoY and 0.5% sequentially to ₹36,009 crore, in line with analyst estimates. </li><li>The company also said it will finish the rollout of 5G services by the end of 2023, ahead of its planned completion timeline of March 2024. </li></ul>India’s second-largest telecom company Bharti Airtel on Tuesday reported a 50% year-on-year (YoY) rise in Q4 net profit to ₹3,006 crore. On a sequential basis, the telco reported an 89% increase in net profit from ₹1,588 crore in Q3, higher than analyst <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/bharti-airtel-q4-preview-revenue-growth-to-be-modest-flat-arpu-eyed/articleshow/100253344.cms">estimates</a> of a 54% rise. Airtel’s revenue in the March quarter rose 14% YoY and 0.5% sequentially to ₹36,009 crore, in line with analyst estimates. For FY23, Airtel’s net profit nearly doubled to ₹8,346 crore, while revenue rose 19.4% to ₹1.39 lakh crore. Its spectrum usage charges fell 6% YoY to ₹2,828 crore while its overall expenses rose 12% to ₹17,312 crore in the March quarter. Airtel’s average revenue per user (ARPU) remained unchanged at ₹193 in Q4 when compared with the December quarter, while its 4G subscriber base increased to 224.1 million from 216.7 million in Q3. Overall, its 4G subscribers as a percentage of total subscribers stood at 67% in Q4, up from 62% in the same period a year ago. “Our focus on acquiring quality customers has resulted in 7.4 million new 4G customers, as we exit the quarter with an industry leading ARPU of ₹193,” said Gopal Vittal, managing director, Bharti Airtel. Also aiding Airtel’s ARPU growth in the March quarter was a 20.5% YoY increase in data consumption at 20.3GB per user per month. In terms of margins, too, Airtel reported a moderate uptick during the March quarter. The telco’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margins rose to 52.2% in Q4, from 50.76% a year ago. “A simple strategy and our relentless focus on execution has ensured that we close the year with market share gains across all businesses. Bharti Airtel Q4 net profit jumps 50% YoY to ₹3,006 crore, beats estimates

The consolidated revenue of operations increased 4.4 per cent to Rs 37,599.1 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 36,009 crore a year earlier. "Consolidated performance was impacted primarily by the devaluation of the Nigerian Naira. For the year ended March 31, 2024, Bharti Airtel's profit dropped 10.5 per cent to Rs 7,467 crore from Rs 8,346 crore in FY23. The annual revenue from operations of the company increased 7.7 per cent to Rs 1,49,982.4 crore during the reported fiscal from Rs 1,39,144.8 crore in 2022-23. On a sequential basis, however, the telco reported a 26% decline in its net profit. Airtel’s revenue came in slightly higher than analyst estimates of ₹35,299 crore during the quarter. The telco reported a 20% YoY growth in its revenue to ₹35,804 crore, beating analyst estimates by a thin margin. On a sequential basis, the topline growth stood at 3.7%, largely driven by 4G subscriber additions and an uptick in average revenue per user (ARPU). Airtel’s net profit missed analyst expectations despite only a mild uptick in its spectrum usage charges (SUC), which grew only 4% YoY to ₹2,842 crore. The overall expenses grew at 14% on average during the quarter. The telco managed to report a moderate uptick in its average revenue per user to ₹193 during the December quarter, thanks to an increase in its 4G subscriber base, which increased to 216.7 million from 210.3 million. Overall, its 4G subscribers as a percentage of total subscribers stood at 59% in Q3, slightly up from 58% in the same period a year ago. “Our strategy of winning quality customers has helped us add 6.4 million 4G customers and exit the quarter with an industry leading ARPU of ₹193,” said Gopal Vittal, managing director, Bharti Airtel. Also aiding Airtel’s ARPU growth in the December quarter was a 22.5% YoY increase in data consumption to 20.8GB per user per month. In terms of margins, too, Airtel reported a moderate uptick during the December quarter. The telco’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) margins rose to 52.7% in Q3, from 49.7% a year ago. “Postpaid, enterprise, homes as well as our Africa business sustained their momentum while the DTH business showed signs of growth in an industry that continues to be under pressure,” Vittal added.
