The sources on Wednesday said several cabin crew members started reporting sick since Monday evening and as there are not enough cabin crew members, "scores of flights" have been cancelled at various airports, including Kochi, Calicut and Bangalore. Late last month, a union representing a section of the Air India Express cabin crew alleged that the airline is being mismanaged and there is a lack of equality in the treatment of the staff. Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU), a registered union, which claims to represent around 300 cabin crew members, mostly seniors, had also alleged that mismanagement of the affairs has affected the morale of the employees. Many passengers took to social media on Wednesday complaining about the sudden cancellation of flights. In response to a passenger's post on X about flight cancellation, Air India Express apologised and said the flight was cancelled "due to operational reasons". "As part of our service recovery process, you can either opt to reschedule the flight within the next 7 days or request a full refund through our chat bot Tia...," the airline said in a post on X. <keyword id="6358070" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mumbai" source="Orion">Mumbai</keyword> International Airport has entirely switched to green sources for its energy consumption needs, making it one of India's 100 per cent sustainable airports. Of the total 100 per cent, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (<keyword id="6984665" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="csmia" source="Orion">CSMIA</keyword>) procures around 5 per cent of the airport's electricity requirement through its onsite solar generation and the rest 95 per cent from other green sources such as hydro and wind energy. Ushering into a sustainable future, CSMIA witnessed a rise in natural energy procurement with 57 per cent green consumption in April 2022 to a whopping 98 per cent between May to July. And, finally attained the 100 per cent utilisation of renewable sources of energy in August 2022, said a CSMIA spokesperson. The spokesperson said that the airport is committed to continuous reduction in energy consumption and carbon footprint through various initiatives. Moreover, CSMIA initially undertook the measure of installing a 1.06MW rooftop solar power plant, which the airport eventually strengthened to 4.66 MW. CSMIA was the first in India to launch hybrid technology which solely runs on green energy since April 2022, thus enabling a highly efficient and low carbon future for aviation. This sustainable initiative undertaken by CSMIA is part of the airport's efforts that reduce its carbon footprint which propels its journey towards 'Net Zero' emissions, the spokesperson added. CSMIA implemented a <keyword id="15212680" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="carbon-accounting-and-management-system" source="Orion">Carbon Accounting and Management System</keyword> (CAMS) based on ISO 14064-1:2018 to identify, measure &amp; manage <keyword id="56310" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="greenhouse-gas" source="Orion">GreenHouse Gas</keyword> (GHG) emissions. CSMIA is the first Indian airport to have participated in <keyword id="1939229" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="airport-carbon-accreditation" source="Orion">Airport Carbon Accreditation</keyword> (ACA) program of Airports Council International (ACI) in 2012. Speaking on the occasion, CSMIA's spokesperson said, "We are extremely delighted to achieve this key milestone in our journey towards attaining a sustainable future for CSMIA. The diligent efforts of the airport in undertaking several thoughtful initiatives have paved the way to achieve this feat. As CSMIA aspires to become net-zero by 2029, this landmark event further encourages us to stay committed to our efforts in enhancing the operational efficiency of the airport while operating on fully renewable energy". "It was even the physical standing in front of me, as in, 'I need to see it. I need to see it,'" she said.Ní Leannáin said she was not offered a private space to remove it in.After taking the prosthesis half out — which is fiddly because it sits in a pocket — she said she wasn't made to continue the process."I think that's when the woman, the female security guard, maybe realized she hadn't been going down the right road," Ní Leannáin told BBC Radio Ulster.Dublin Airport representatives later apologized after Ní Leannáin complained, she said, but wouldn't commit to saying it wouldn't happen again.Dublin Airport did not immediately respond to BI's request for comment, but it did apologize to Ní Leannáin in a statement to BBC Radio Ulster.An airport spokesperson said that it had investigated the incident and agreed that it "should have been handled better," the outlet reported.Passengers can ask for a private screening but "regrettably, this did not happen on the day in question," the spokesperson said.The airport has taken steps to ensure similar situations are avoided in the future, the statement said.But Ní Leannáin said she's concerned that not enough people are aware they can request a private screening.She added that it's not just people with prostheses who might be affected, but also people with colostomy bags, among other things.Airport security lines, and their intrusive searches, have long been a source of anger and frustration.Tech solutions could eventually help to reduce their need. In March, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tsa-self-service-security-screening-airport-test-2024-3">Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas trialed a self-checkout-style security service</a> that it said may help to reduce pat-downs in the future.
