Industries are making use of interns as their workforce to bring speed and innovation to their projects. The top three organisations include Times Internet, startup Out of the Box Solutions and Today’s Kalam Foundation, an NGO that focuses on imparting quality education in India. The selections are on the basis of internship profiles offered by the organisations, stipend range and learning opportunities for interns. Sarvesh Agrawal, CEO of Internshala earlier told Business Insider India that “internships are finally becoming mainstream phenomenon and are no longer restricted to select few campuses and companies.” Among the colleges with the best internship record are <keyword id="8023590" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Paavai-Engineering-College">Paavai Engineering College</keyword>, Tamil Nadu, Maharaja Surajmal Institute, New Delhi, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, New Delhi, and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, New Delhi. In 2018, Manipal Institute of Technology was ranked first across India, with its best internship culture. Following it was Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology and Chandigarh University. According to Internshala, over 15,000 students from the 2800 AICTE- approved colleges received internship opportunities in the last four months. Overall, nearly a third of students got internships on their own. While many of these internships have turned into pre-placement offers by the end. The top Indian colleges and organisations for internships, awarded by AICTE

Ahead of college admissions, <keyword id="56459" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="university-grants-commission" source="Orion">University Grants Commission</keyword> (<keyword id="44171" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ugc" source="Orion">UGC</keyword>) has warned students against unrecognised or 'fake' institutions operating in the country. In the last two years, the UGC has identified 27 such 'fake' higher educational institutions in the country. With the admission process around the corner, students across the country have been asked to beware of educational institutions that are not established as per the UGC Act but offer degrees in contravention of stated provisions. According to <keyword id="693288" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="union-education-ministry" source="Orion">Union Education Ministry</keyword>, the degrees provided by such institutions will not be valid for further studies or jobs. Recently, the UGC detected two unrecognised institutions and is likely to soon release a fresh list of such institutions. According to a recent notice issued by the UGC, the 'Open International University for Alternative Medicines' and the '<keyword id="17077663" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-board-of-alternative-medicines" source="Orion">National Board of Alternative Medicines</keyword>' are running courses in violation of the UGC Act 1956. The UGC appealed to students across the country not to take admission in these institutions as their degrees will not be valid for further education or job. Earlier, the UGC had also issued a similar notice against the All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Science, a higher educational institution in Delhi. The UGC in its notice advised students not to take admission in "self-styled" institutes. The UGC from time to time releases lists of such unrecognised colleges, universities and institutes to make students aware of institutions, which are fraudulently offering degree courses. It also keeps an eye on such self-styled institutions in the interest of students. Last year, the UGC identified about 24 such higher educational institutions and declared the degrees awarded by them "invalid and fake". According to the UGC, students should thoroughly examine it before taking admission in higher educational institutions. Students and parents should make sure that the concerned educational institution is recognised by the UGC. These educational institutions can be verified on the UGC website. Significantly, the UGC and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which promotes technical education in India, have also issued a warning against the educational institutions of Pakistan. In this joint advisory issued for Indian students, it was said that Indian students should not take admission in any college or educational institution in Pakistan. According to the UGC, students pursuing education in Pakistan will not be eligible to get jobs and higher education in India. UGC and AICTE have said that Indian students should not go to Pakistan for higher education. An Indian student going to Pakistan to pursue technical education, higher education or any other course will not be able to take admission in India for further studies or jobs. Anna University faces heat as it proposes Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads for engineering students

IIT Madras to host Singapore India Hackathon in the presence of PM Modi

New Delhi, Nov 14 () KPMG in India and NIIT Ltd on Thursday said they have entered into an exclusive partnership to launch 'KPMG NIIT Finance Academy' in India for building skills and talent for finance professionals.
 Designed as a centre for future skills in finance, the academy will offer futuristic programs in finance to fresh graduates and experienced finance professionals to address the changing talent requirements that evolving business models, regulatory changes and new-age technologies, a statement said.
 "The finance workforce of the future will need well rounded finance technical skills combined with data utilisation and technology skills and broader behavioural skills. We believe that this finance academy will help address a critical component on talent and skills," Sai Venkateshwaran, Partner and Head of CFO Advisory at KPMG in India and Global Lead for Smart Digital Finance said.

 CII on Thursday launched Smart Manager Certificate Programme in partnership with GlobalGyan to make students ready for professional careers with practical competencies that employers seek. 
 This programme will provide those skills to students that are typically gained through work experience or internships, a statement said. 
 The certificate programme will be open to students of all colleges affiliated with AICTE, it added.
 The mode of delivery would be a blend of self-paced digital learning through Android, iOS and web apps, as well as live interactive sessions over a duration of four months, it said.

 The Commerce Ministry on Thursday said Tobacco Board has been awarded the Golden Leaf Award for its efforts to initiate various sustainability initiatives in flue-cured virginia (FCV) tobacco cultivation in the country.
 The awards under this category are given to a company or institution that introduced a public service programme or educational campaign of creativity, effectiveness to date and best use of resources. 
 The board got this award for its best outstanding public service in sustainability to the industry for its initiatives on natural farming in tobacco cultivation for production of organic tobaccos, improving the soil health through green manuring.
 India is the world's fourth largest producer of FCV tobacco. About 88,000 FCV tobacco farmers and their families in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are dependent on this crop for their livelihood. SR RR

KPMG in India, NIIT launch 'KPMG NIIT Finance Academy'

<ul><li>India’s youth is now banking on internships to add work experience to their resumes. Companies too are hiring interns before they roll out employment offers to university graduates. </li><li>Almost half of the internships posted on <keyword id="1998561" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Internshala">Internshala</keyword> — online trainings and internship platform — came with pre-placement offers. </li><li>One in every two internships that came with pre-placement offers was in management — offering business development, marketing, digital marketing, human resources (HR), and operations role. </li><li>The highest stipend offered to intern is recorded at ₹85,000. </li></ul>Amid rising skills gap and unemployment, India’s youth is now banking on internships to add work experience to their resumes. On the other hand, employers too can assess candidates better during internships before hiring them. It is becoming a norm for companies to hire interns before they roll out offers to fresh graduates. Now, an internship is also turning into an informal promise of a job, depending on performance. Almost half (48%) of the internships posted on Internshala — an online trainings and internship platform — came with pre-placement offers. However, the conversion is as per the candidate’s performance. “Recruiting future employees through internship programmes is a tried and tested technique amongst employers. It provides them with enough time to test the interns’ competencies for the job as well as to see if the candidates are culturally fit for their organisation or not,” Internshala said. Management is the most sought-after sector for internships and PPOs. One in every two internships that came with pre-placement offers was in management — offering business development, marketing, digital marketing, human resources (HR), and operations. This was followed by media, engineering and design roles at 18%, 16% and 8%, respectively. Internship profiles in media and engineering included social media marketing, copywriting, editorial, web development, <keyword id="86811" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Industrial-Design">industrial design</keyword> and <keyword id="672670" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="software-testing">software testing</keyword> among others. Stipend and annual remuneration According to Internshala’s PPO internship trends report, the companies that hire interns would earlier offer an average monthly stipend of ₹8,000. While the highest recorded stipend was at ₹85,000. The average salaries offered after internships stood at ₹300,000 per annum. India’s top b-school graduates are being paid over ₹2 lakh for summer internships

In a bid to inculcate creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship among youngsters, the <keyword id="83103" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="All-India-Council-for-Technical-Education">All India Council for Technical Education</keyword> (AICTE) along with the HRD ministry is organising <keyword id="4216627" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Smart-India-Hackathon-2017">Smart India Hackathon 2017</keyword>. 
 The grand finale of the hackathon, which will be held in Ahemdabad, will be dedicated to <keyword id="201062" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="department-of-science">Department of Science</keyword> (DoS) especially for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=isro&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">ISRO</a>. 
 
In the grand finale, students will come up with various solutions for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=space+technology&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">space technology.</a> Nearly 500 youngsters will work for 36 hours non-stop to develop products that can be used for the nation. The event will be a<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=computer+programming&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> computer programming</a> competition in which the youngsters from 13 states. 
 An award first prize of Rs. 1 lakh will be given to the winning team, while second and third prize are worth Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively. There will also be consolation prize of Rs. 10,000. "A total of 25-member team will judge the performance of the students including 15 national jury members and senior scientists from <keyword id="6358064" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="ISRO">ISRO</keyword>,” said Dr Haresh Bhatt from ISRO. 
 
Also, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=prime+minister+narendra+modi&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Prime Minister Narendra Modi </a>will address innovators via video conferencing.
