Protests against this scheme raged across the country especially in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Telangana. Apart from army aspirants, the protests received support from farmer organizations, civil society organizations and trade unions. However, they died after a week, as applications were invited by the forces. In fact, it had received more than 90,000 applications in just four days of the opening of the online application window. The IAF will recruit 3,000 Agniveers this year and their training is slated to begin from December 30, after exams and medical tests which will be held in two phases.
