With a score of 314 marks out of 360, R.K. Shishir from Bombay zone has secured the first rank in the <keyword id="6354859" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="iit" source="Orion">IIT</keyword> entrance examination JEE-Advanced, the results of which were declared on Sunday. R.K. Shishir is the topper among the students whose names are included in the list of top 10 in JEE-Advanced exam. <keyword id="14954873" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="polu-lakshmi-sai" source="Orion">Polu Lakshmi Sai</keyword> came at number two, <keyword id="14954874" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="thomas-biju" source="Orion">Thomas Biju</keyword> at number three, <keyword id="14954872" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vangapalli-sai-siddharth" source="Orion">Vangapalli Sai Siddharth</keyword> at number four and Mayank Motwani of IIT Delhi zone came at number five. <keyword id="14954875" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="polishetty-kartikeya" source="Orion">Polishetty Kartikeya</keyword> is at 6th position, Prateek Sahu is 7th, Dheeraj Kurukunda is 8th in All India Rank, Mahit is at 9th position and Vetcha Gnana Mahesh has secured 10th position. Among the girls, Tanishka Kabra of IIT Delhi Zone bagged the top rank, while in common rank list she is at 16th place. Tanishka secured 277 marks out of 360 in JEE-Advanced exam. 40,712 candidates qualified this year out of a total of 1,55,538 who appeared in both Paper 1 and 2 of JEE-Advanced 2022. Based on the results, the admission process will now begin in 23 IITs across the country. Of the total 40,712 candidates who have qualified the JEE-Advanced exam, 6516 are girl students. In the case of foreign students, 296 foreign girl students had registered themselves for JEE-Advanced examinations. However, only foreign 280 students appeared and a 145 cracked the examination. JEE-Advanced exam was held on August 28. The test for the first paper of JEE-Advanced exam was held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the second paper was held from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. In order to prevent electronic malpractices in the JEE-Advanced examination, 'jammers' were installed at the centres. How To Take Admission In IIT Bombay

The top 20 percentile students of each education board will now be eligible to seek admission in IITs and NITs and appear for <keyword id="1126172" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jee-advanced" source="Orion">JEE Advanced</keyword> even if they have not scored 75 per cent marks in class 12, according to <keyword id="263716" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ministry-of-education" source="Orion">Ministry of Education</keyword> sources. The decision comes against the backdrop of constant demands for relaxing the eligibility criteria for <keyword id="6392660" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jee" source="Orion">JEE</keyword> (Advanced), which requires at least 75 per cent marks in aggregate in the class 12 examination conducted by the respective education boards. "The 20 percentile criteria will help those candidates who are short of 75 per cent aggregate in their class 12 boards. Discussions were held and since many of the top 20 percentile candidates in a number of state boards score below 75 per cent marks or 350 marks, the ministry decided that if a candidate is in the top 20 percentile he or she is eligible," a source said. The online registration for for the first edition of JEE-Main will end on January 12. The exam will be conducted between January 24 and 31. According to the JEE (Main) 2023 information bulletin, admission to BE/BTech/ BArch/BPlanning programmes in the NITs, IIITs, and CFT via central seat allocation board will be based on all India rank with the additional eligibility of at least 75 per cent in aggregate in the class 12 examination conducted by the respective education boards. For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the qualifying aggregate is 65 per cent in class 12 board exams. The eligibility criteria was kept in abeyance during the pandemic (2020, 2021 and 2022). Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused to defer the JEE Mains examination scheduled later this month. The startup <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/ganeshbalakrishnan/">creates </a>‘all-day casual shoes for the urban workforce’ priced between ₹1,000-₹5,000 a pair. It also <a href="https://www.flatheads.in/">offers </a>India’s first linen sneakers, and the world’s first banana fibre sneakers. At the time Balakrishnan’s episode was shot, his company was on the verge of a shutdown. He said <a href="https://www.sonyliv.com/shows/shark-tank-india-1700000741/investing-in-the-future-of-india-1000203475?watch=true">on the show </a>that he personally invested ₹35 lakh to keep the business afloat, in the last two months. His co-founder Utkarsh Biradar, who helped design the shoes, too invested the same amount. Biradar exited the startup in 2022 but still holds 30% equity. In spite of his mounting troubles, Balakrishnan rejected the only deal he received on the show. Sharks Peyush Bansal (co-founder, Lenskart) and <keyword id="246967" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vineeta-singh" source="Orion">Vineeta Singh</keyword> (co-founder, Sugar Cosmetics), offered ₹75 lakh for 33.3% equity in the company. The offer values the company at ₹2.25 crore. Balakrishnan had asked for a valuation of ₹25 crore as its company generated sales to the tune of ₹3.4 crore in FY22. The company had raised ₹5.2 crore in April 2021, at a pre-money valuation of ₹28 crore, from angel investors. Thing is, when you step into the market and for 4 months nobody is wearing shoes, because nobody is stepping out only - such situations arise once in generations. And it happened to us,” said Balakrishnan on the show. While Windsleeve shut down in a year, Momoe ran for three years, before being acquired by Shopclues in 2016, in a cash and stock deal. In 2019, Balakrishnan entered the startup space again with Flathead Shoes, inspired by his personal experience of dealing with reeking and ill-fitting shoes. Balakrishnan is married and has a 10-year-old daughter. Currently, his household income is managed by his wife, who’s working with a German company. His daughter is an artist who also wants to be an entrepreneur and is already taking orders for calendars created with her paintings. “Did I mention that my 10-year-old daughter wants to be an entrepreneur? She says she is a fan of Peyush's no-nonsense mindset, and I know that she admires Vineeta for her cheerfulness and positivity. This IIT-IIM startup founder denies Shark Tank offer, sells his entire inventory over the weekend

According to a <keyword id="274437" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Quora">Quora</keyword> post, <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> cleared IIT- <keyword id="6392660" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE">JEE</keyword> and secured a rank that made him take admission in <keyword id="71852" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Mumbai">IIT Mumbai</keyword>, one of the most prestigious technology institutes in the country. While speaking on his youth he said, “Nobody asked me to do chemical engineering. I chose to study science and which college I would go to.” 
 “By that time -- the early '70s -- <keyword id="180516" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vimal">Vimal</keyword> was a fairly successful textile brand. So everybody expected me to do textile engineering. I shocked them by saying that I would go to IIT. Interestingly, 4-5 of us friends studying together for Inter-science were all among the top 10.  “Since Inter-science results were announced after the IIT entrance, I joined IIT- <keyword id="6356654" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bombay">Bombay</keyword>. After the Inter-science results a few weeks later, I left and joined <keyword id="1325139" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="University-Department-of-Chemical-Technology">University Department of Chemical Technology</keyword> (UDCT) along with my friends,” he added.

Did Mukesh Ambani go to IIT Bombay?

Getting into IITs isn’t easy, but students who crack it prefer <keyword id="6355690" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Bombay">IIT-Bombay</keyword> over <keyword id="6431668" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Delhi">IIT-Delhi</keyword>. As per a Times of India report, 65 of the top 100 <keyword id="6392660" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE">JEE</keyword> (Advanced) rankers this year chose IIT Bombay. IIT-Delhi came second with 30 students opting for it. 
 
IIT-Madras and IIT-Kanpur, however, attracted three and two students with standing on third and fourth place respectively. 
 
The first allotment list, that was released on Tuesday showed an increase from last year’s 58 among 100 opting for the Powai Institute. It was for the first time that it showed a drop below 60 in recent years. 
 
Among the top 1000 rankers, one out of four students chose IIT-Bombay for their education. 
 
Another reason that led to IIT-B’s grand achievement is the region. Out of top 100 JEE (Advanced) rankers, 34 belonged to the IIT-Bombay zone. What added much to our surprise is the fact that many of the 28 rankers from the IIT-Madras zone seem to have opted for IIT-B as only three chose the former. 
 
Devang Khakhar, IIT-B director said, "A majority of students perceive it as the top institute. At 18 years, most students make their choices based on what their friends and family would recommend. Computer science and engineering (CSE) and electrical engineering (EE) were the popular choices for students in the top ranks." 
 
With a majority of students picking CSE stream, the opening and closing ranks were 1 and 59. While at IIT-Delhi, it opened at 31 and closed at 102. The top ranker at Kanpur campus managed to secure 26th place and at Chennai it was 61. Admission to the electrical engineering program in IIT-B opened at rank 9 and closed at 240. 
 
This year, neither the old favorites not the newer ones managed to attract the students. Madras and Kharagpur campuses dropped in rankings while Roorkee and Guwahati could not manage to get even a single topper. IIT officials attributed this to the low representation of students from the North-East.

IIT-Bombay, not IIT-Delhi is JEE toppers’ first choice

<keyword id="1716083" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditi-Laddha">Aditi Laddha</keyword> from IIT-Bombay has received a top job offer from <keyword id="3911901" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uber-International">Uber International</keyword> and will be working in the US. 
 
This is the highest job offer made to students across some of the IITs this year. Laddha made news in 2013 when she cleared her JEE (Advanced) with an all-India rank (AIR) of six. 
 
She broke into the male-dominated top 10 ranks of the most competitive entrance exam for undergraduate admissions in the country for the first time along with another girl. 
 Apart from Laddha, Palak Jain and Charmi Dedhia also got hired by <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> for India office. 
 
Only a fraction of students from the class manage to get the crore-plus offers every year. Students also argue that the actual package is only little more than the best domestic offer as the cost of living is higher in the US. With restricted work visas, fewer US firms are visiting IITs for the last two years.

Meet Aditi Laddha from IIT-Bombay, who got a job offer from Uber International, the highest one across many IITs

<keyword id="2262976" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="HRD-Minister-Smriti-Irani">HRD Minister Smriti Irani</keyword> has cleared a proposal to allow foreign students to take entrance examinations to enrol in IITs. 
 
Aspirants will take Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) at the bachelor's level and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) at the master's and PhD levels. 
 
Irani, who is also chairperson of the IIT Council, has asked IITs to bring a proposal before the panel for approval. 
 
The ministry wants to add 10,000 seats in 18 IITs to attract students from South Asia, Africa and West Asia. 
 
To get admission, foreign students will have to pay full fees of Rs 4-5 lakh per year. Indian students pay Rs 90,000 per year as fee. 
 
The onus to prepare JEE and GATE exams in countries abroad is on IIT-Bombay director Professor Devang V Khakhar. 
 
Until now, foreign students could study in IITs through cultural exchange fellowship. 
 
Also, this doesn’t mean that Indians will not get the preference as the number of seats for Indian students will not be changed. 
 Meanhwhile, <keyword id="61708" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Bombay">IIT Bombay</keyword> will identify countries as well as the institutes for conducting GATE and JEE 2016.

IITs open doors for foreign students, allows them to take entrance exams

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IITs has decided to let students from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Singapore, the UAE and Ethiopia directly appear for the JEE (advanced) test. They would not be required to appear for the JEE (main) that Indian students have to take. 
 
"The idea has been approved in-principle. Each IIT will also ratify it and the IIT council will approve it next week," an official said. 
 
The reason behind this step is to make IITs to the list of top international educational institutions. "In all international rankings one of the key parameters is international students and IITs lose out in a big way despite scoring well on other parameters," another official said. 
 
"Foreign nationals will be given seats under supernumerary category," he added. IIT-Bombay will be given the prime responsibility of implementing the programme, the exams of which will be taken in centres set up in these countries.

Students from nine countries to skip JEE (main), can sit straight for advanced test

India, the home of innovative minds, is now bringing <keyword id="1021589" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-graduates">IIT graduates</keyword> under one umbrella where they’ll educate needy students, those who want to study in top educational institutes. This is an initiative by <keyword id="39440" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="avanti">Avanti</keyword>, a for-profit venture backed by the Michael &amp; <keyword id="867407" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Susan-Dell-Foundation">Susan Dell Foundation</keyword> and the Pearson Affordable Learning Fund. The award-winning social enterprise was established by IIT alumnus in 2010 and is currently having eighty full time teachers with around 300 volunteers and support of over 1,200 high-school students across the country. 
 
Most of the people working at Avanti are IIT graduates and are earning about one-fourth of what they would have got in any multi-national. But, the job satisfaction is more than enough to make-up for that. 
 Avanti president and co-founder, <keyword id="258061" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Akshay-Saxena">Akshay Saxena</keyword>, an IIT Bombay alumnus feels that the best part is that they are attracting the India’s best undergraduates for the cause. Saxena said, "All of our recruits have a passion for teaching but what's most exciting for our team is that we're working towards re-imagining education and creating an alternate model that uses technology to deliver quality through process." 
 
A report published in Economic Times says that after turning up into a for-profit organization in 2012, it opened centers in Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Chennai and is still expanding. Besides the IITs, it has also hired graduates from the National Institutes of Technology and St Stephen's in Delhi. 
 
Prachi Windlass, director of education, India, Michael &amp; Susan Dell Foundation says that the biggest attraction, she believes is the draw for high-quality talent; for example IIT alumnus sense Avanti’s social mission, and a performance-based culture for achieving that mission. 
 
Admission into a top engineering college is a life-transforming experience, and who understands that better than young graduates." 
 
What makes Avanti different from other platforms is its coaching model that helped 18 students from Hindi-speaking, low-income backgrounds get into top engineering colleges this year. The two-year program costs these candidates a total of Rs25,000-35,000 for one whole year, one-third of what other coaching institutes charge. Of the 102 Avanti students who wrote the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) this year, 57 went through to the next stage with 18 clearing JEE Advanced.

However, as far as appraisals are concerned, Kumar said that the company is in a ‘wait and watch’ mode. “But all bonuses and variables are paid as per plan,” he added. Masai School is also planning to add nearly 20 people by the end of June. This includes Lead instructors, curriculum leads, technical mentors, marketing manager, admissions counselor and subject matter experts. “In addition to this, we have also rolled out appraisals to the existing team, for the year,” said Prateek Shukla, CEO &amp; Co-founder of Masai School. The demand for educators increase as the learner base grows Whitehat Jr, on the other hand, is doubling the number of employees and teachers to meet the 100% month-on-month increase in student enrollments. The edtech companies attribute the rise in jobs to the increased demand for online learning. “Due to the increased demand for online learning, we are definitely ramping up our backend and technology and have plans to hire 1500 employees across all levels and with domain expertise in the field of technology, product, finance, strategy &amp; HR,” said Vamsi Krishna, CEO &amp; Co-founder of Vedantu. The platform says that its revenue grew by over 80% with the students spending an average of 18-20 minutes per live class daily. Gradeup also witnessed nearly 25% surge in daily enrollments, especially live classes for JEE &amp; NEET aspirants. “With Covid 19 and the lockdown due to increase in demand, our requirements in academic positions have specifically gone up. At the same time we are also scaling up on the sales team to cater to the demand of online classes which were provided by offline institutes in the past. For the next quarter, we will hire technology, product and sales professionals. We have been hiring 30-40 people for these categories since May,” Shobhit Bhatnagar, CEO and Founder of Gradeup told Business Insider.
