He took and passed the notoriously hard Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) level 1 exam while still in college, studying early mornings while other friends were at the beach. He became accustomed to falling asleep at night with headphones on to block out the noise of others partying around him.After graduation from Cal Poly in 2011, he started at Deloitte, working in technology consulting. Business school was heavily on his mind. "I wanted to prove to people that I was smart ... business school would prove that," he said.His next move was part good fortune, and part a personality trait that has allowed success to come easily to Galloway. On a six hour flight from from New York to San Francisco Galloway was seated next to a woman who was working on a financial model in Excel. When he struck up a conversation with her she told him she worked at ESPN."I'd love to work for ESPN," he recounted saying, without any hesitation. A phone interview and four in-person interviews later, he was offered that job despite being up against more qualified candidates. He attributes that to both the passion he held for working at a "dream company" like ESPN, and work ethic he was able to communicate to interviewers.Galloway ended up working in distribution strategy, figuring out how to convince households to pay for cable TV amidst a world where Netflix, Hulu, YouTube are all becoming stronger competitors for people's time, he explained.And despite the fact that he was in his so-called dream job, the wheels of how to get into a top business school never stopped turning for Galloway. <img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/592edf5a79474c1d008b5814-1422/harvard business school-1.jpg" alt="harvard business school" /><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/florianpilz/8782146931/">Flickr/Florian Pilz</a>HBS.During his time at ESPN he took and passed level 2 of CFA, and took the GMAT. He was disappointed with his initial score GMAT score - a 710 out of 800. But after two more tries, he ended up getting a 770, a feat that places him in the 99th percentile of people taking the exam.All during that time he also said he "telegraphed" to managers that business school was a desire. Having a running dialog about future goals made conversations with senior managers easier when he eventually required their help with recommendation letters.It's another skill that he employs while at work. He tries to connect with managers, or even more senior members of a company, every few months, even if there is no immediate agenda, having face-to-face conversations about work and goals.Eventually, when there is the need to communicate components to emphasize in a recommendation letter, the conversation is much more fluid because it isn't a surprise.Galloway finished his applications at the end of 2015, and got interviews at Columbia, Kellogg, Wharton, and HBS. He gained acceptances to all but Columbia.Now, as he finishes up his first year at HBS, he has already experienced first-hand the benefit of on-campus recruiting at a place like Harvard. He had final round interviews for summer internships with Netflix, Facebook, Apple, Under Armour, and Nike. This summer he'll be working in global strategy at Nike in Portland, Oregon.Despite having the grades, scores, and work experience that seemingly made Galloway a competitive applicant at HBS, he believes the most important thing he did was to distinguish himself from similar applicants."White, male, unremarkable undergrad, consultant," he listed out unforgivingly. "How do I make it so that those things are not top of list for the reader of my application?" he continued. Victor Schwartz, the Jed Foundation's medical director, said that addressing <keyword id="6354774" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mental-health">mental health</keyword> concerns could help students academically, as well as prevent self-harm.
"When you look at the admissions office, most everyone has the SAT points and the IQ points for the college work they're faced with. So more often than not, why someone is struggling in school, what you find is social problems, family problems, emotional problems, not handling all these things effectively," he said.
According to USA Today, <a href="http://www.jedcampus.org/">the JedCampus seal</a> is based on a number of campus offerings, including "free access to the gym, free counseling and physical health services, crisis programs, restricted access to hazardous or illegal materials, [and] early identification of students with problems."

"I saw I was getting accepted into each one, and when I came to the last one, I started crying. I literally was just crying and running around."Perhaps some of the anticipation from Uwamanzu-Nna's guidance counselor was because of the fact that the seemingly impossible - an acceptance into all eight Ivy League schools - <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/interview-with-harold-ekeh-who-was-accepted-to-all-8-ivys-2015-4">was accomplished last year by another Elmont High School student: Harold Ekeh</a>."The fact that this is happening twice in a year speaks volumes to the power of the Elmont community support system," she said.In addition to all of the Ivies, she was accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and New York University.Uwamanzu-Nna's résumé reads like you'd expect from a highly recruited Ivy League senior. 	 As Bhartiya Janta Party (<keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword>), Aam Aadmi Party (<keyword id="6356115" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword>) and <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> get ready to slug it out in <keyword id="1416108" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-elections">Delhi Elections</keyword>, industry body ASSOCHAM has a piece of advice for them. The body has come up with a list of suggestions, which it believes should be the key focus areas for these parties. This includes: women safety, healthcare, education, infrastructure, housing among others. 
	 
	ASSOCHAM’s General secretary, DS Rawat says, “Setting up more number of working women hostels, old age homes for senior citizens and rehabilitation centres for drug addicts most of whom are rag pickers and beggars thus there is a need to provide them proper counseling and support services.” 
	 
	The chamber has also listed other issues that require political parties’ immediate attention. The chamber noted that healthcare system in Delhi is a major issue and requires improvement. It has urged the parties to focus on improving the conditions of government hospitals as well as setting up hospitals under public-private partnership (PPP) model to meet the growing healthcare demand. Also, in order to make healthcare affordable, the industry association emphasized on providing medical insurance facilities to the lower income group while making important drugs available at affordable rates. 
	 
	“Apart from healthcare, the education should be another key focus area for the parties. There needs to be strict supervision vis-à-vis private schools providing admission to kids from economically weaker section, a monthly amount of Rs 1,000 be given for educational uplift of students from the reserved classes,” suggested Rawat. 
	 
	He averred that investments in the education sector in the city is required in order to build more schools, colleges, polytechnic institutes throughout Delhi. “Urgent steps must be taken to ensure teachers’ availability, promote vocational education for imparting job-oriented and skill-based knowledge for providing industry ready workforce and all this requires increased private sector participation which can be further enhanced by luring them through incentives and tax rebates”, he points out. 
	 
	Addressing the lack of industrial infrastructure in the city, the chamber suggested that the government must issue licenses to only non-polluting industries and manufacturing units while financial support should be extended to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). 
	 
	“Industries operating in residential areas should be relocated, and the administration should facilitate logistical support for speedy implementation of Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and periodic review of state’s industrial policy should be carried out to include missing representations and addressing pending issues,” he said. 
	 
	In terms of the public transport and housing facilities, the chamber has recommended the parties to suggest ways to integrate public transportation system while focusing on constructing new roads and highways to boost better connectivity within and outside the city. “The parties must also pay attention to the housing facilities and promoting modern techniques of buildings such as earthquake resistant houses by Delhi Development Authority (DDA), providing thrust to affordable housing on city’s outskirts to reduce population density within Delhi,” asserted Rawat. 
	 
	Commenting on the problem of water scarcity in several areas of North, South and East Delhi, the association has said the parties should devise ways of curbing activities that have resulted in rapid depletion of ground water level. On the safety and security issue, the chamber has suggested that the Delhi Police, which is currently under the Central government, should be brought under the purview of the state government.
