Mumbai, Mar 8 () With the HR department having many responsibilities such as designing perks and benefits and supervising staff performance, the BFSI sector is witnessing growth in recruitment outsourcing, according to experts. With stringent regulations and intense competition, the process of hunting for the right talent becomes a daunting task for the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector, TeamLease Services Vice-President (Recruitment Services) Ajay Shah told here. He added that therefore, to optimise talent acquisition efforts, the sector has started shifting towards outsourcing of hiring. Recruitment outsourcing is a fast-growing industry in India and is projected to see an annual growth of 25-35 per cent, he said adding that going by the current trends, more than 70 per cent of the country's employers are likely to outsource all or part of their hiring process in the next five years. Moreover, he said that as the human resource (HR) department shoulders many important responsibilities like postings or transfer, training programmes, supervising promotions, designing perks and benefits, disbursal of retirement benefits, supervising the performance of staff, and implementing effective HR policies, the recruitment outsourcing process has become vital for the BFSI sector. Echoing a similar view, Michael Page India Director Nitin John Abraham said large-scale volume requirements that tend to be siloed function-wise gave a boom to the outsourcing of the recruitment process. "Outsourcing of the hiring process is expected to grow as it is a very cost-effective solution for large-scale volume appointments. Also, especially in the Indian market, where you have a lot of issues in terms of candidates backing out, taking multiple offers, it does require a dedicated person or group of people to manage the hiring process," he added. CIEL HR Services CEO Aditya Narayan Mishra said the outsourcing trend is not only being adopted by the BFSI sector, but also by information technology, consumer products, services, manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors. "Many BFSI companies have limited their HR teams to strategic work of talent acquisition such as workforce planning while the execution of these plans are assigned typically to a leader for talent acquisition (TA). This TA leader usually has a small team to execute the hiring process and they usually outsource it," he added. Executive search organisation GlobalHunt Managing Director Sunil Goel said the outsourcing of hiring is growing because of fluctuating talent demand in the BFSI sector. "During April to September, maximum number of hiring takes place in the BFSI sector. The spike in demand for resources makes the organisation to recruit specialised teams and outsource support from vendors having diverse knowledge and are fast," he said. Other sectors, such as IT, IT-enabled services, and new-age start-ups are also looking up to this concept of recruitment to manage hiring challenges, he added. SM HRS

The institute has recorded its highest ever average starting salary at ₹28 lakh this placement season. Of the total of 439 students, nearly 43 graduates secured job offers with an annual compensation of ₹54.5 lakh. In fact, one in four offers that were rolled out this year received the starting salaries at ₹41.8 lakh per annum. XLRI also attracted the highest number of offers from the consulting domain at 26%, this year. On the other hand, more than half (57%) of the offers at MDI came from companies in the consulting sector. Finance, General Management, Sales and Marketing IIM Calcutta students received 83 job offers from PE firms and other finance companies — accounting for 17% of the total offers. General management and sales and marketing roles added up to 30% of the total offers. These offers came from Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Reliance, Vedanta, TrueNorth, Hindustan Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, Mondelez, and FIITJEE. Recruiters hiring for finance roles were Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Arga Investment Management, Gaja Capital and JP Morgan Chase. In addition to this, 22% of overall offers were rolled out in product management, analytics and operations. One in four job offers at IIM Calcutta pays over ₹41.8 lakh per annum

New Delhi, Jan 29 () The NGT asked the Central Pollution Control Board on Wednesday to submit a fresh report on Amazon and Flipkart's compliance of plastic waste management rules, a day after the CPCB said the e-commerce giants need to collect the waste generated due to packaging of their products.
Hearing a plea filed by a 16-year-old boy to stop Amazon and Fli pkart from excessive plastic use in packaging, the National Green Tribunal said it is for the regulator CPCB to enforce the rules.
Advocate Balendu Shekhar, appearing for CPCB, told the bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel about the non-compliance of plastic waste management rules by the e-commere giants, saying the e-commerce firms need to fulfil their extended producer responsibility under the rules.
They use excessive plastics for packaging but have not registered with CPCB, Shekhar said, adding the companies should obtain registration as brand owner after submitting relevant documents.
Advocate Sanjay Upadhyay, appearing for Amazon, told the green tribunal they will comply with all formalities on extended producer responsibility by June 30.
The bench, however, asked them to approach the CPCB and posted the matter for hearing on April 22.
On Tuesday, the CPCB told the NGT that as per provisions 9(2) of the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, "Primary responsibility for collection of used multi-layered plastic sachet or pouches or packaging is of producers, importers and brand owners who introduce the products in the market.
"Amazon Retail India Private Limited and Flipkart Private limited are involved in packaging and selling of other companies' products and thus introducing plastic packaging in the market. They need to fulfil their extended producer responsibility under PWM Rules and should obtain registration as brand owner after submitting proper documents," CPCB said.
Aditya Dubey, the petitioner in the case through advocate Divya Prakash Pande, has pleaded the NGT to direct Amazon and Flipkart to stop excessive use of plastic in packaging.
Responding to the plea, Amazon India said it has been "relentlessly" working to reduce single-use plastic in its supply chain and is committed to eliminating its usage in their buildings by June 2020.
"Towards this, we have introduced 'paper cushions', which have completely replaced plastic dunnage across our fulfilment centres in India. We also ensure that packaging material in the form of corrugate boxes and paper cushions contains as high as 100% recycled content and is also fully recyclable. To reduce packaging waste and use of plastic, 'Packaging Free Shipment' (PFS) has now expanded to 20 cities within a year," an Amazon India spokesperson said Tuesday.
Flipkart said it has been "constantly striving to find eco-friendly alternatives for plastic packaging which is resilient and keeps the product safe during transit".
"The company firmly believes in the principle of 'business with a purpose' and we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment," a Flipkart spokesperson said.
Dubey's plea has contended that the companies deliver items in cardboard boxes, which are too large when compared to the size of the items being delivered.
The plea has also said that though the home-delivery service of e-commerce companies have been very useful for consumers, they have given rise to serious environmental challenges. Once goods are delivered, the plastic waste is thrown away in garbage and it ends up at landfill sites, it said.
"Single-use plastic has emerged as one of the biggest environmental challenges for our planet. It is cheap, useful, ubiquitous and very deadly," the petition has said. PKS PKS ABH
