But the worst hit will be non-bank players as they will be hit on both asset and the liability sides. While they will have to pay higher rates while borrowing from banks and bond markets, they will also have to pass on higher costs to borrowers. This will slow down the rapid growth in their balance sheet, which has been driven by rapid growth in the disbursement of unsecured personal/consumer loans. According to analysts, non banking finance companies like Paytm and Bajaj Finance would be most affected by RBI’s move to tighten capital norms on unsecured loans and also loans disbursed to non banks. This will not only make lending more expensive for non banks but in many cases will also force them to raise more capital ahead of schedule. <keyword id="116253" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sbi-cards" source="Orion">SBI Cards</keyword>, Bajaj Finance, IIFL and Aditya Birla have relatively higher proportion of unsecured loans on their portfolio and, therefore, tighter capital norms will impact them the most. Unsecured personal loans account for 37% of Bajaj Finance’s loan book, while it is 21% for Aditya Birla Capital and it is 27% for IIFL (standalone), according to Jefferies. According to Jefferies, SBI Cards can see an estimated.400 basis points cut in its Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio while Bajaj Finance can see 220 basis point hair cut to Tier 1 CAR. However, both NBFCs are well capitalised and have higher return on equity (low capital consumption). “IIFL (standalone entity) and Aditya Birla Capital can see a 50-80 bps haircut to Tier 1 capital, which can lower their Tier 1 to 13%/15%. Jefferies says: “We also watch out for the pricing environment and ability of Paytm to pass-through hike in funding costs. In our base case earnings, we forecast consumer loan disbursal growth to normalise from 90% in FY24 to 40% in FY25 and 35% in FY26. Any additional 10 percentage point slower disbursal growth (vs. base case) in FY25/26E can lead to 5-10% impact on lending revenues and ~2-3% impact on overall contributions, which may impact break-even timelines as well. Adding to it, as per reports, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is considering taking action against big fund houses that charge very high expense ratios from their customers. Currently as per SEBI’s rules, mutual funds can charge a total expense ratio (TER) of up to 2.25%, if the AUM reaches ₹500 crore. However, the regulator might now reduce this expense amount to benefit investors. Also, since distributors earn more commission by selling new funds, there are cases of mis-selling. New Delhi, Dec 24 () Leading stock exchange BSE on Tuesday said six companies, including Aditya Birla Housing Finance and Axis Finance, have filed application to list their commercial papers (CPs).
 The other companies that made applications with the exchange are Standard Chartered Investments and Loans (India) Ltd, KEC International Ltd, Siyaram Silk Mills Ltd and Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.
 Post process, the effective date of listing for CPs at the exchange will be December 26, BSE said in a statement.
 Till date, 22 issuers have done 58 issuances of CPs and have successfully listed CPs of Rs 23,330 crore on BSE. The weighted average yield of these issuances is 5.44 per cent with an average tenor of 111 days, the exchange said.
 Standard Chartered Investments and Loans, Aditya Birla Housing Finance, Balrampur Chini Mills, Axis Finance, KEC International and Siyaram Silk Mills made an application to list CPs at BSE for an issue size of Rs 390 crore, Rs 250 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 175 crore, Rs 100 crore and Rs 45 crore respectively, BSE said.
 Commercial paper is an unsecured money market instrument issued in the form of promissory notes that enables highly rated corporate borrowers to diversify their sources of short-term borrowings and provides an additional instrument to investors.

Aditya Birla Housing Finance, Axis Finance, 4 others to list commercial papers on BSE

New Delhi, Nov 28 () Aditya Birla Finance Ltd (ABFL), the NBFC arm of Aditya Birla Capital, on Thursday became the first company to list its commercial papers on the stock exchanges.
 The move comes after the exchanges -- the BSE and the NSE -- came out with a framework for listing of commercial papers (CPs), in a bid to broaden investors' participation in such securities.
 Listing of CPs is expected to lead to efficient transmission of information regarding corporate borrowings and liquidity positions to market participants, the NSE said in a statement.
 It will also contribute effectively towards development of the commercial paper market and is expected to have a positive effect on the debt capital market, it added.
 In separate statements, the exchanges said Aditya Birla Finance is the first company to list its commercial paper with value date of November 28 and maturity date on February 7, 2020.
 ABFL is a well-diversified non-banking finance company (NBFC) with a long-term credit rating of AAA (stable) from both ICRA as well as India Ratings.
 CP is an unsecured money market instrument issued in the form of promissory notes that enables highly rated corporate borrowers to diversify their sources of short-term borrowings and provides an additional instrument to investors.

Aditya Birla Finance becomes first company to list commercial papers on exchanges

New Delhi, Dec 18 () Leading stock exchange BSE on Wednesday said as many as five companies, including JSW Steel and Aditya Birla Finance, have made applications to list their commercial papers.
The other companies are KEC International, Aditya Birla Money and Fullerton India Credit Company.
Post process, the effective date of listing for the commercial paper at the exchange will be December 19, the BSE said in a statement. 
 With this, the number of companies listing their commercial paper (CP) on BSE BONDS platform will reach 16 since the stock exchange came out with the framework for listing of such instruments late last month. 
 The weighted average yield of these issuances is 5.30 per cent with an average tenor of 116 days. Also, the funds raised by these firms will reach Rs 17,835 crore.
 According to BSE, Aditya Birla Finance, JSW Steel, KEC International, Aditya Birla Money and Fullerton India filed application to list CPs on the BSE for an issue size of Rs 500 crore, Rs 165 crore, Rs 150 crore, Rs 50 crore and Rs 25 crore respectively.
