Moreover, documents filed with Myanmar’s corporate regulator show Adani bringing in $141 million ‘capital in cash and $148 million ‘capital in kind’ for the project as per <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-30/queensland-adani-ports-myanmar-military-deal/100032156">ABC Australia</a>’s investigation. Come September 2019, a report by UNHRC listed out the corporations involved in operations with the MEC. Many began to review their business operations and disengaged from ongoing projects. Meanwhile, Adani Ports remained silent. But, as pressure built up, Adani Ports <a href="https://www.business-humanrights.org/en/latest-news/adani-ports-sez-ltd-did-not-respond/">categorically denied</a> engaging with Myanmar’s military leadership in order to facilitate its project in the country in February earlier this year. Adani Ports’ shares down 14% in two days as market fears a slump in global trade and Myanmar issue denting its image

The downward spiral in the share price of these companies has wiped out over $7.6 billion (approx. ₹55,000 crore) net worth of <keyword id="111343" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gautam-Adani">Gautam Adani</keyword>, according to Forbes’ real-time billionaires <a href="https://www.forbes.com/real-time-billionaires">list</a>, as of 10:00 a.m., on Monday. The meltdown was triggered by reports that the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) suspended the accounts of three foreign funds ⁠— all reportedly based out of the same address ⁠— that have over ₹43,000 crore invested in the Adani Group. The three accounts in question are Albula Investment Fund, Cresta Fund and APMS Investment Fund. Notably, the accounts were suspended on or before May 31. According to an Economic Times <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/a/cs-of-3-fpis-owning-adani-shares-frozen/articleshow/83496483.cms">report</a>, the suspension could be due to insufficient disclosures under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The funds had time till 2020 to disclose details on common ownership and personal details of key employees. But they didn’t. “Custodians typically warn their clients before such action but if the fund doesn’t respond or fails to comply, accounts can be frozen,” the report added, quoting an unnamed source. The rules for Indian funds investing in the stock market do not allow managers to invest in any one stock or group beyond a certain limit. But the same rule does not apply for foreign portfolio investors. One, the funds hoarding Adani group shares to reduce the number of the tradable shares in the market. And, therefore, allowing the value of the shares to inflate. Over the course of the last six years, the group has expanded its operations in its port, coal imports, coal mining, power generation, city gas distribution and edible oil imports.  Adani Green which has been one of the best performing stocks of the group in the last few months lost almost 20% of its value due to the major market sell off and outflow of foreign investors. As the virus, which has already affected people in over 75 countries continues to spread, the researchers are now worried about a global recession. As of now, there have been 75 confirmed coronavirus cases in India. The shutting down of factories in China has disrupted global supply chains ⁠— e.g. lack of parts have stalled car manufacturing, lack of inputs have hurt drug making and so on ⁠— trade and travel have to come a grinding halt, triggering fears of large-scale unemployment, and those are just some of the effects of the deadly coronavirus. This led to a sharp sell-off in global markets, with Wall Street clocking its worst plunge since the collapse of Lehman Brothers that triggered the global financial crisis in 2008.

New Delhi, Dec 27 () Billionaire Gautam Adani's port-to-power Adani group has acquired majority stake in Snowman Logistics Ltd for Rs 296 crore to foray into cold chain logistics.
 Adani Logistics Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, signed definitive agreements to acquire 40.25 per cent stake in Snowman Logistics Ltd from Gateway Distriparks Ltd, the company said in a statement.
 Snowman is market leader in cold chain logistics with over 30 per cent of capacity amongst integrated organised cold chain service providers in India.
 The acquisition gives Adani Logistics platform to double its capacity in the next five years. The buyout is in line with the firm's strategy to move from port gate to customer gate.
 "The purchase price of Rs 44 per share represents a 8 per cent premium to the market price of December 27, 2019 and a 12 per cent premium to 60 day average," it said.
 As part of the transaction, Adani Logistics will make a mandatory open offer as per the Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeover Guidelines, 2011 for a maximum 26 per cent of the public shareholding in the Snowman Logistics.
 Acquisition is subject to customary condition precedents and expected to close by March 31, 2020.
 Karan Adani, Chief Executive Officer and Whole Time Director of APSEZ said, "The acquisition is in line with our strategy and vision to be a leader in providing integrated logistics services in India and moving from port gate to customer gate. Cold chain is key product in customer gate strategy given India's consumer driven demand. We will double the capacity in next 5 years. 
 "With focus on increase in utilization, higher realization from product mix and operational efficiencies, this vertical will help further improve returns of logistics business".
 Incorporated in 1994, Snowman Logistics is in the business of integrated cold chain logistics providing warehousing, distribution and value added services.
 With over 25 years of expertise, the firm is the largest organized player in the country with pan India presence operating 31 temperature-controlled warehouses at 15 strategic locations. The company infrastructure includes warehousing capacity of 1,04,343 pallets and 293 refrigerated vehicles.
 Adani Logistics has expertise in handling varied customer across segments like retail, industrial, bulk, break-bulk, liquids, auto and grain handling. It currently operates 5 logistics parks, 55 rakes, 400,000 sq ft of warehousing space, 5,000-plus containers, 0.9 million tonnes of grain silos and 9 inland waterways vessels.
 The company is targeting 15-plus logistics parks, 200-plus rakes, 5 million sq ft of warehouse space, over 15,000 containers, 2.5 million tonnes of grain silos and 25 inland waterways vessels by 2025, the statement said.
 Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), a part of globally diversified Adani Group, is the largest port developer and operator in India. Its 10 strategically located ports and terminals - Mundra, Dahej, Kandla and Hazira in Gujarat, Dhamra in Odisha, Mormugao in Goa, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, and Kattupalli and Ennore in Chennai - represent 24 per cent of the country's total port capacity, handling vast amounts of cargo from both coastal areas and the vast hinterland. Adani forays into cold chain logistics with Rs 296 cr acquisition of Snowman Logistics

New Delhi, Nov 29 () New World Fund Inc on Friday offloaded more than 1 crore shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd for over Rs 401 crore in an open market transaction.
 Bulk deal data on the BSE showed that 1,06,87,163 scrips were sold at an average price of Rs 375.34 apiece. This took the total deal value to Rs 401.1 crore.
 As per September 2019 shareholding data, New World Fund Inc was a public shareholder of Adani Ports and held 2.07 per cent stake.
 On BSE, shares of Adani Ports closed at Rs 382.15, up 2.56 per cent over the previous close.
 In a separate transaction on the NSE, SS Theatres LLP sold 5.5 lakh shares of PVR Ltd for over Rs 99 crore.
 The shares were sold at Rs 1,804.06 per scrip, valuing the deal at Rs 99.2 crore.
 However, the buyer could not be ascertained.
 SS Theatres, which is a public shareholder of PVR, held 3.31 per cent stake in the multiplex operator at the end of September 2019.
 The shares of PVR ended at Rs 1,806 on the NSE, up 0.95 per cent.
 As per another bulk deal on NSE, Axis Bank sold 2.2 crore shares of Reliance Power for Rs 8.03 crore at an average price of Rs 3.65 apiece.
 Shares of Reliance Power on NSE ended at Rs 3.65, 3.95 per cent lower than the previous close. SRS
