All Adani group stocks saw a massive rally in the last one year. Adani Total Gas alone tripled its returns in the last one year. The only stock that has delivered negligible returns in this time frame is Adani Ports &amp; SEZ. So, should you buy these Adani stocks? According to Deepak Jasani of HDFC Securities, investors should not look at buying stocks purely for dividend. “Adani stocks are very highly volatile counters and won't advise conservative investors to invest in these stocks only just for the dividend. Only aggressive traders can look at buying these stocks on dips based on market trends,” Prashanth Tapse, vice president – research, Mehta Equities, told Business Insider India. Kush Ghodasara, a market expert, told Business Insider India that while Adani Total Gas is near its lifetime high and as such, at a high valuation, the other two stocks – Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports are worth considering. At the end of the day, risk appetite alone helps determine stock investments. While high growth companies are riskier bets, they generally tend to reinvest their profits into the business instead of paying out dividends. On the other hand, most companies which are unable to exhibit high growth, especially public sector companies, pay out higher dividends for two reasons – dividends are a way for promoters to make money, and to reward their long-term investors. The Adani group’s flagship company also reported healthy topline growth during the March quarter – revenue rose by 26% on year to ₹31,346 crore. For FY23, its revenue almost doubled to ₹1.37 lakh crore from ₹69,420 crore in FY22. Adani Enterprises Q4 net profit more than doubles YoY to ₹722 crore as airports and roads businesses pick up pace

They sold stake in one of their many companies— around 25.1% of Adani Electricity to <keyword id="6437412" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Qatar-Investment-Authority">Qatar Investment Authority</keyword> (QIA). It completed a transaction where QIA will invest ₹3,220 crore ($452 million) into the company, which is a part of Adani Transmission. Of this, ₹2,010 crore will go as its share of debt, while the rest is equity, the rest will all land in the hands of the promoter. “Entire equity proceeds stake sale has been used by ATL towards return of the Perpetual to the tune of ₹1,209.62 crore in favor of contributory promoter entity,” said the press release. Consequently, the promoter perpetual outstanding will be reduced to ₹2,544.3 crore. Perpetual stock is a kind of preference shares that promoters or any other entity can hold. It is favourable to the holder because it pays fixed dividends to the investors and has no maturity period or sale date associated with it. It can exist for as long as the company does. Adani family’s net worth is bulging This will only add to the already bulging coffers of Gautam Adani family whose net worth is pegged at $15.7 billion<a href="https://www.forbes.com/profile/gautam-adani/#6c4769b01608"> by Forbes</a>. Adani is the fifth richest person in the country, according to Hurun list and has interests across ports, power and trading and is rapidly expanding into other infrastructure like airports and data centres. While most of his wealth comes from his ports business, Adani Transmission is also one of his best performing stocks. In the last six months, the stock appreciated by 50% backed by at least five power transmission construction projects it won across Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. Its deal with QIA to sell stake in Adani Electricity that has a licence to supply power in Mumbai – also helped the stock gain. After today’s announcement, the stock gained by around 1.5% to ₹337, as per data on BSE. Adani Transmission too, has been on a fundraising spree in spite of slowdown in credit growth in India. Just last week, it raised as much as $1 billion in foreign currency debt. “It is the first by a private integrated utility from India. The issue generated significant interest from international investors and was oversubscribed by over 5.9 times,” the company had then said. This so-raised debt, however, will be used to power on its plans to build transmission project bids that it has won.

Such Ponzi-like economic structures are sustainable only to the extent that new money is willing to risk being the last one 'holding the bag'."Shares of Icahn Enterprises plunged nearly 20% shortly after the opening bell, trading at $41.49 at 10:05 a.m. ET. Icahn Enterprises did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. "Overall, we think Icahn, a legend of Wall Street, has made a classic mistake of taking on too much leverage in the face of sustained losses: a combination that rarely ends well," the report concludes. In a written reply to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha, Karad on Tuesday said the central government on an application made by the LIC allowed the utilisation of its free reserves for increasing its paid-up capital. "As a result, the paid-up capital of LIC increased to Rs 6,324.99 crore, as on 31.12.2021," he said. He said, LIC had paid a dividend of Rs 2,610.75 crore in 2019-20 to Government of India from the profits of 2018-19. No dividend was paid in FY2020-21 as the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) had instructed insurers vide its circular dated April 24, 2020 to refrain from dividend pay-outs from profits pertaining to the financial year ending March 31, 2020. In addition, we are also partnering with like-minded nations to ensure peace and stability in our region." "Our approach to security needs to shift from a unilateral mode to multilateral mode, which mandates increasing training, engagements with partner nations so as to fructify joint response in the future," he added. The US, he said, recognizes Indo-Pacific as consequential for its future, adding that similarly, Japan, Australia, France, the UK, Indonesia, and Germany also find the region of strategic importance to them. However, China's rise as a military and economic power has made the region highly contestable. Based on the challenges India faces as a rising regional power, he said, "We require structured a long time planning for capacity building and development of our defense forces. In a quest to building a stronger India, we need a peaceful and stable security environment." "We need to maintain strategic autonomy and cooperative relations with extra-regional powers, regional linkages. We need to build bilateral, trilateral and multilateral mechanisms like Japan, Australia and India (JAI), India-Asean and similar existing mechanisms to have the right balance in our strategic autonomy." Technology, he said, will play an important role in any nation's quest for supremacy, be it in the military or any other sphere of activity. Therefore, investment in research and development will determine the future course of action for any enterprise, he said. However, he warned, "Quest to acquire proprietary rights on technology must not deny benefits of development to the global community at large. It must, in fact, create linkages between the haves and have nots. Humanity must not be guided by profiteering alone but must consider an equal opportunity for growth for all." In the military, he said, technology must become the means of deterrence and not a source of destruction. "Technology must benefit mankind and not be used for destroying existing systems." General Rawat ended his address on a positive note saying that this is India's century. "Many across the world are bullish about India. It has the talent, demographic dividend, and vibrancy of culture," he asserted.
