Apart from trying the unknown, consumers are held back by fewer models along with prohibitive costs of electrical vehicles. The good news is that the costs are coming down. While the purchase price tag is high, the government eases this burden with incentives. In addition, the running costs of an electric vehicle, particularly two-wheelers, can provide enormous cost savings. Here is some math to support the theory. Tork 6X versus Super Splendor A report by Kotak Institutional Equities pegged the top most purchased motor bike Hero’s Super Splendor against a popular electric vehicle Tork 6X. Tork 6X is likely to be ₹55,056 more expensive than Super Splendor, even after adding in government incentives. But, it will also save running costs to the user by ₹58,364 in over 50,000 kms. Electric bike users can breakeven on the higher initial costs of Tork 6X in 4.7 years, on an average. If due to some reason the government decides to rescind the benefits, the breakeven time can move up to 6.6 years. There is something else that will weigh in favour of electric vehicles. The new BS-VI emission norms will kick in next year and make petrol bikes costlier by ₹7,000. It will truncate the time taken to breakeven to four years. However, the breakthrough in ownership of electric vehicles will be in 2030 when Kotak expects the electric battery costs to fall. “Currently the shift towards electric bikes is not significant because of lack of product availability in the market while the bigger players like Hero, Honda, Bajaj and <keyword id="87196" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS-Motors">TVS Motors</keyword> haven’t launched electric bikes. However most of these players are planning to launch electric bikes over the next 2-3 years,” the Kotak report said. Electric Scooters to be cheaper Scooter users might find it much easier to shift to electric vehicles as the total cost of ownership tilts heavily in favour of them. Considering increased price of normal scooters after new emission norms kick in, the breakeven between electric scooter Ather S340 and the most sold scooter, Honda Activa is pegged at 1.6 years. Also, the life of an electric scooter is much higher than a petrol scooter, making it a wiser option in the long run. “In terms of cost of ownership, electric scooters have become cheaper than petrol scooters as the life of lithium ion battery is 15 years while the life of a petrol scooter is 10 years,” the Kotak report says. Yet, electric bikes are yet to catch the fancy of the market. But, the shift to electric vehicles is inevitable. “The automobile industry is at the cusp of a revolution with adoption of cleaner vehicles (electric and <keyword id="935925" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="plug-in-hybrid">plug-in hybrid</keyword>) over petrol/diesel vehicles. We expect 28% of automobiles (except commercial vehicles) in India to shift to EVs by 2029-30 with scooters and three-wheelers adopting electric much faster than other segments,” the report said.

The new Access is powered by a 4-cycle, single cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, 2 valve, 124cc engine that churns out 8.58 BHP of power and 10.2Nm of peak torque. The new Access 125 also comes with kick start and electric start options. 
 
In terms of exterior design, the new Access 125 gets chrome finishing, and a retro styling. On the feature front, it gets longer seat, class leading under-seat storage and optional DC socket. 
 
The 125cc scooter will be offered with Front Disc Brake as an option along with alloy wheels, and is available in 5 colours.

A recent listing on the benchmarking platform Geekbench revealed a Nothing smartphone with the model number Nothing A059, which is expected to be the Nothing Phone (3). The device was spotted with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, Android 15 and 8GB RAM. The device is expected to feature a 6.5-inch display. However, earlier leaks had hinted that the Nothing Phone (3) will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The Nothing Phone (2) was launched with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Nothing is also expected to launch a “Pro” variant, featuring a bigger 6.7-inch display. The device is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. While the Nothing Phone (3) is expected to be priced starting at $599, the Pro variant is expected to be priced starting at $699. Nothing will reportedly launch three phones in 2025, including the Phone (3)

The national capital has reported an "isolated" case of Japanese Encephalitis, official sources said on Thursday. All public health measures have been instituted as per the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) guidelines, the sources said, adding there was no cause for concern. Referring to an order issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday, the sources said that the 72-year-old man from west Delhi was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on November 3 following chest pain. The patient was diabetic, had coronary artery disease, bilateral lower limb weakness and bowel and bladder incontinence, the source said. After the patient's blood sample was collected on November 6, he tested positive for Japanese Encephalitis. He was discharged on November 15, the sources said. According to the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme data, in 2024, 1,548 Japanese Encephalitis cases were reported from 24 states and Union Territories, with 925 cases from Assam alone. The central government guidelines, two doses of the vaccine have been a part of the Universal Immunisation Programme since 2013. Adult <keyword id="24203625" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Japanese-Encephalitis-vaccine" source="keywords">Japanese Encephalitis vaccine</keyword> has been introduced in high-burden states, sources said. "No outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis has been reported in Delhi in the past although occasional isolated cases have been reported from tertiary hospitals like AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia and Safdarjung among others - mostly from neighbouring states," a source said. While all public health measures have been instituted according to the NCVBDC guidelines, there is no cause for concern due to this isolated case of Japanese Encephalitis, the source said. The Japanese Encephalitis virus is normally carried by waterfowl and amplified in pigs from where it is accidentally transmitted to humans through the bite of infected culex mosquitoes. The infection may result in febrile illness and in a small proportion of cases cause neurological illness and may result in death, he said. There is no specific treatment for Japanese Encephalitis and there is no human-to-human transmission of the virus, the source said. Delhi reports 'isolated' case of Japanese Encephalitis

The rupee fell 7 paise to trade at 84.47 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday weighed down by a muted trend in domestic equities and strength of the American currency in the overseas markets. <keyword id="20024982" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Forex-traders" source="keywords">Forex traders</keyword> said the latest <keyword id="20064878" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Federal-Open-Market-Committee" source="keywords">Federal Open Market Committee</keyword> (FOMC) minutes reveal a significant shift in the Federal Reserve's outlook. The Fed is likely to put downward pressure on short-term interest rates, reducing the appeal of dollar-denominated assets and contributing to the decline in the Dollar Index. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 84.45 and moved in a tight range and touched 84.47 against the greenback, registering a fall of 7 paise over its previous close. On Wednesday, the rupee depreciated by 11 paise to close at 84.40 against the US dollar. "The 84.50 level remains a strong support for the USD/INR pair. <keyword id="23456490" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="RBI-interventions" source="keywords">RBI interventions</keyword>, coupled with anticipated capital inflows -- such as Godrej Properties' Rs 4,000 crore QIP and Univest's USD 16 million capital raise -- are expected to support the rupee further," CR Forex Advisors MD Amit Pabari said. Pabari further added that the USD/INR pair is likely to encounter resistance near the 84.50 mark, with expectations of trading within the 83.80 to 84.50 range, showing a slight downward bias. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading higher by 0.14 per cent at 106.22. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.18 per cent to USD 72.70 per barrel in futures trade. In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 68.21 points or 0.09 per cent to 80,302.29 in morning trade, while Nifty was up 34.20 points or 0.14 per cent to 24,309.10 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) infused Rs 7.78 crore in the capital markets on a net basis on Wednesday, according to exchange data.
