NRF found that consumers plan to spend $102.74 on average - $10 more than they planned to spend in 2020 - on items like decorations, costumes, and candy. Numerator's data showed that sales of seasonal candy have jumped 29% in the second half of the year versus the same period last year, and 43% compared to the second half of 2019. Halloween is back: People are shelling out for candy, costumes, and decor after a quieter 2020

Jaipur, Dec 4 () A six-member team from Maharashtra will be visiting Jaipur to study the state government's farm loan waiver scheme, a senior official said.
 The Maharashtra government has also decided to waive loans of farmers on the lines of Rajasthan, state cooperatives registrar Neeraj K. Pawan said.
 Pawan further noted that Cooperatives Principal Secretary of Maharashtra, Abha Shukla, Principal Secretary, Information Technology SVR Srinivas, Agriculture Secretary, Eknath Dawale will be part of the six-member study team, who will be in Jaipur on December 5.
 The team would study the loan waiver scheme implemented in the state for effective and transparent implementation.
 The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance government led by Uddhav Thackeray in its common minimum programme has promised to waive loans of farmers. 
 Managing Director of the Apex Bank Inder Singh said Rajasthan has waived crop loans of about Rs 8,000 crore as on November 30, 2018 which benefited 20.30 lakh farmers. The present state government has provided loan waiver of Rs 15,000 crore through the scheme in the year 2018 and 2019.
 He said Rajasthan has decided to waive loans of Rs 2 lakh of financially troubled marginal and small farmers taken from Central Cooperative Banks and Bhumi Vikas Bank as of November 30, 2018.

'Hot vax summer' is coming - and retailers are gearing up to finally sell going-out clothes again

Delhi University is conducting online open book exams for final semester students of postgraduate and undergraduate courses. The move was opposed by students and teachers who were demanding that the exams be scrapped. The varsity has also commenced online classes for third and fifth semester students from August 10. During an online briefing, Abha Dev Habib, a Delhi University professor, said teachers and students have been left out from the decision-making process to hold online classes. "The decision of online open book exams was taken without thinking about students. What will happen to students in Kashmir and those stuck in floods. The students do not have gadgets for online classes. "The decision was taken without consulting the statutory bodies -- the Academic and Executive Council," she alleged. Unni Maya, a student of Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi University, said the varsity has gone ahead with the decision to hold online classes without thinking about the mental health and well-being of students. Taking online classes means that students have to spend a high screen time in front of their mobiles or laptops which impacts their health. She demanded that the varsity should think about funding and providing gadgets to students and it should also release department-wise data on how many students have availed online classes. Students and teachers of other universities also raised similar issues. Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh said the varsity administration is not concerned about teaching-learning process or about students in Kashmir who still do not have access to a proper internet connectivity, or about flood-affected students or those who contracted COVID-19. "Students are being pressurised to register for the next semester at a time when the UGC has also said that the varsities must finish the current semester by September 30. There is no meaning of registration. The varsity administration is continuously creating issues," she said. She also alleged that the students of MBA and Engineering are being charged lakhs of rupees despite not having access to labs and having part-time faculty. "I would call it daylight robbery. Even the representatives from these departments have been pressurised to not raise their voice," she said. She also urged the varsity to ensure phased return of students to the campus by following proper medical protocols and establishing quarantine centres inside the premises. Voices were also raised from Delhi government-run Ambedkar University against online classes and how the administration and even the state government has not heard their pleas. Shubhojeet Dey of Ambedkar University said they had conducted a survey among students and found that 48 per cent of students had access to smartphones while two per cent did not have access to any gadget for accessing online classes. Only 50 per cent of the students have access to laptops, he said, adding that 62 per cent out of these do not have laptops for more than three hours since the laptop is also used by their siblings, who are either studying or are working. "It was found that 73 per cent of students do not have stable internet connection and 98 per cent of the female students were also supposed to contribute to household chores. We have even approached the authorities and even the Delhi government with our problems but there has been no resolution," he added. The students had boycotted the orientation class which was held to introduce the students to courses. Listing out the demands of the students, Dey said they want that the classes should be postponed by a month and laptops should be procured for students from disadvantaged sections and data packs should be given to all the students. Student debt has increased by 160% since 2004, the study found. Bernie Sanders is planning to crash Walmart's next shareholders meeting and argue hourly workers deserve a spot on the company's board

 What’s common amongst the two, you might ask? In both the avatars, Chopra has shed the “Miss Goody two shoes” image and can be seen with a gun in her hands. That’s exactly what Priyanka has been doing in the recent past, refusing to do what everyone else from her contemporaries is doing and being up for the challenge of playing an action hero, probably the first one in <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword>. 
 
Let’s look at her stint as SP Abha Mathur, and since the movie is freshly out of the oven, we only have the trailers to draw references from. In the trailer, her introductory scene shows her with a wooden protective shield that has been put on fire by protestors. She looks stern, determined and when she takes out a bamboo stick from her police jeep and beats criminals black and blue, that’s when we know that she means business as the SP of Bankepur. 
 
In the second trailer, she invokes courage in common people to step up for what’s right, with some kicks and slaps usual for policewomen, though highly unusual for the leading ladies of Bollywood, who so far have believed only in being the damsels of distress, barring a few scenes here and there in some movies. 
 So, coming back to <keyword id="1078051" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="PeeCee">PeeCee</keyword>, she has established herself in the top league of Indian cinema, and is known worldwide for that; this is no hidden fact. After all, why would she be invited to present an Oscar, being only the second Indian to do so, after Miss India Persis Khambatta in 1980? 
 
She has been doing everything that we expect a mainstream Indian male actor to do to make Bollywood and India proud. She is acting well in critically acclaimed movies, the last one being Bajirao Mastani where she made her presence felt even though she was the second lead after Deepika Padukone; she is going beyond the borders, being the first Indian to be cast in a primetime TV show by an American production company, and Quantico’s success is the stamp of her being accepted. Not only this, she has also signed up for the role of antagonist Victoria Leeds in the next Baywatch movie, alongwith Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. 
 
So, in a time when most Bollywood actors are either working on nonsensical but mega budget projects only to be hooted by intelligent audience and critics, let’s take a moment and thank Priyanka Chopra for showing that even females can be the heroes, and top ones at that.
