With more than a million followers on TikTok and almost two million on Instagram, it's worth noting that Rao is now an influential creator in her own right. Recently, she co-founded <keyword id="9136845" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-clubhouse">the Clubhouse</keyword> Beverly Hills, a new TikTok collab house, with the help of <a href="https://www.insider.com/daisy-keech-why-she-left-the-hype-house-2020-3">Hype House veteran Daisy Keech</a> and social media stuntwoman Kinsey Wolanski. And lately, she's been spending more and more time in the studio, working on a foray into music. </p><p>But this week, Rao hit a breaking point. And in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJUdzNn2018&amp;feature=youtu.beu.be">confessional</a> uploaded to YouTube on Monday, she finally addressed the hate head-on. </p><p>"So I want to start off by saying that I don't even wanna be filming this video really," Rao opened the clip. "I am sad that this is the way that I am starting my channel...It's kind of just like, an obligation to myself to respond to, kind of, just all of the hate that I'm getting right now, mainly from my ex's fans."</p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GJUdzNn2018" frameborder="0"></iframe><p>RiceGum debuted the pair's relationship in a YouTube video on January 11. According to Rao, she and Le dated for "over a year," and "almost immediately" started living together in the Clout House. Le is now living in an apartment, having moved out of the $12 million Hollywood Hills home when FaZe Banks (and the rest of FaZe Clan) <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/faze-clan-collab-house-mansion-los-angeles-rent-details-history-2020-4">relocated.</a></p><p>"It's kind of a downgrade, but look, this is what I'm working with," Le said in <a href="https://youtu.be/fNfrhDGz-rE">a tour</a> of his new digs. </p><p>Over the course of their relationship, Rao appeared in a number of Le's vlogs and live streams — an offer he extended and she accepted in an effort to be supportive. Soon, pranking and challenging Rao became a mainstay source of comedy on Le's YouTube channel, as well as the "FamilyGum" channel he created to capitalize on the internet's love of creator couples. Memorably, Rao allowed Le to vlog her breast augmentation last year. And once, she even agreed to get <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AaumGYTOJo">an impromptu tattoo</a> in Le's honor for a video. </p><p>Rao told Insider that she was never compensated for any of those appearances, and never asked to be. </p><p>Contrary to rumors circulating amongst RiceGum fans, Le did not, as a enraged commenter recently put it on Instagram, "pay for [Rao's] boob job" or "pave the way" for her career, according to Rao. Rao has repeatedly acknowledged that she "learned so much" from watching Le work. But, in many ways, Rao's career was sidelined during her relationship with Le. </p><p>"I think I just loved him so much that I ended up putting myself second," Rao reflected. "I ignored myself for a really long time. And now, that's over. And I'm going to just focus on myself and do what I know that I'm meant to do in life. </p><p>"I'm glad it happened," she continued. "Everything happens for a reason. In one, Le asks two women to kiss and twerk on camera for his viewers.</p><p>"Like, he has so much talent," Rao said of Le. "To be live and to entertain that many people and keep a show going alive is something that's really hard to do. And I just felt like his talent could have been put to so much better use and I just felt like, why did his content have to be disrespectful towards me to be comedy?"</p><p>Eventually, Rao stopped pushing the issue, deciding instead to take a step back from the relationship and let Le "do his thing."</p><p>"But I do wish him the best, and I wish that he would see the good he could do," she added. "And I think he still has time to turn that around. Like, I hope he does. I really hope he does. <ul><li>As Gautam Reghunath gets elevated to the role of Chief Executive Officer at Dentsu Webchutney, we take a look at his journey in the industry so far, discuss the challenges of filling in Sidharth Rao's shoes, the opportunities that lie ahead for the industry and his vision for the agency. </li><li>Prior to this, Reghunath was executive Vice President (EVP) and Branch Head for Dentsu Webchutney, Bangalore. </li></ul>Gautam Reghunath started his journey with Dentsu Webchutney 10 years ago. Earlier this week, he was elevated as the Chief Executive Officer of the agency after Sidharth Rao, erstwhile CEO, was promoted to the position of Chairman, Happy mcgarrybowen India and Dentsu Webchutney. <br /><br />Dentsu Webchutney, under the leadership of Sidharth Rao in 2019, set a precedent for the entire digital industry. It brought digital to the forefront by winning one silver, five bronze and 17 shortlists at Cannes Lions for its work on Swiggy, Uri and Flipkart. Rao also walked away with the highest honors at Abby’s and Spikes Asia. <br /><br />About keeping this momentum going in 2020 and attempting to fill in Rao’s shoes, Reghunath admits his nervousness. However, he is all set to take up this new responsibility. He shares with us his vision for the agency and challenges that lie ahead for the industry. <br /><br />Edited excerpts: <br /><br /><strong>Q) What is your vision for Dentsu Webchutney? What will be the newer challenges for you?</strong><br />Over 20 years, Dentsu Webchutney has become an incredible brand of its own and I’ve been privileged to spend 10 of those years here. Our client roster features some of the most consequential companies in the world, and our work follows their world-beating ambition. I see talented people around me eager to make meaningful contributions and the outstanding results that follow when we empower them. My immediate hope is to help double down on this and everything else that has made us tick these last few years. <br /><br />Over the next few years, I see the challenge of rising to the speed and potential of our clients. We also want to continue attracting clients across cities that are into the type of work that we do; brands with brave marketing teams that are ready to be disruptive with us. Personally, my role will be to define and maintain culture and values for our company, and to endorse the smart decisions made by our already smart, intuitive workforce. Just to support the right people to make good decisions in alignment with our core values. I’m confident that this team has my back as I’ve got theirs.<br /><br /><strong>Q) What will be your focus areas in 2020 and your strategy as the CEO?</strong><br /><br />From an industry perspective, there is a sense that advertising globally finds itself in tricky waters. While Webchutney’s business has maintained its consistent growth over the last few years, we still have the potential to catch up with the opportunities that lie in front of us. There are strong clients out there, in a challenging business environment, who want to partner with only the best. The current climate demands that they do. No one is better placed to deliver than us because of our advantage in strong talent. And that’s where a lot of my key focus is going to be. It will be our foundation for the future. How will you ensure that you keep the momentum going? </strong><br /><br />I agree, and we’re all very grateful for the success that 2019 brought for us. While much of our public success is recent, it’s obvious that our industry cannot rest on its past, and we can sense how rapidly it’s all changing. I can confirm that our feet are planted firmly on the ground. Our teams understand that the expectations from Dentsu Webchutney have never been higher. Advertising is a special business to be in. It needs passion, patience and a consistent desire to seek out moments of genius. So, we’re just going to continue to try and keep doing what we do best to realise the truest potential of the internet. Inside our four walls and three offices, the best idea wins. <br /><br /><strong>Q) Do you think it is going to be difficult to fill in Sidharth Rao's shoes?<br /></strong><br />Absolutely! Replicating his journey is impossible. Sid is an important part of our future and as I mentioned to our colleagues on email, I’m very humbled to follow in his footsteps. He’s someone I reach out to at both my toughest and happiest moments. Hence, I’m so glad to have him by my side as I take on this responsibility. I’m also privileged to find myself in a position to lead a company I have grown to love immensely, having spent the better part of the last 10 years here. Our collective task across our three offices will be to take Webchutney to new heights. <br /><br /><strong>Q) What will be the biggest challenges and opportunities for digital agencies in 2020? How are you preparing yourself to face it?<br /></strong><br />Well, it’s our time! All of us ‘digital’ first agencies have graduated from getting those last 10 minutes at client meetings to now leading complete brand mandates. I look around at the founding and operating teams at India-born, digital first agencies like The Glitch, Schbang, Kinnect etc. and they’re all brimming with young, world-class leadership. I’d say our collective opportunity is in sustaining this relevance and making the most of it. The talent on our floors have a natural advantage in comparison to the older agencies but it’s not a long-term moat by any stretch of the imagination. <br /><br />As for Dentsu Webchutney, we want to be the absolute best creative agency India has seen. That means being counted among the best globally. We must continue to adapt and build for today and the future, not rest on the past. There’s no two ways about it. Our talent has a natural affinity for keeping up with technology, the internet and modern communication channels. At the same time, we’re focusing on building a nimble agency that is very comfortable seeking external expert collaboration when needed. That’s primarily how we’re preparing to face the next few years. We’re rolling out specific initiatives in this direction very soon. <br /><br /><strong>Q) What are the plans for 2020, in terms of expansion, new business targets, talent acquisition, and technology development?<br /></strong><br />Specifically, growth will come from scaling Webchutney’s unique creative and strategy product. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Some <keyword id="11897491" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="onlyfans" source="Orion">OnlyFans</keyword> stars have ghostwriters who respond to private messages that fans pay to send them, industry insiders say.</li><li>We <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/former-onlyfans-star-managers-say-they-catfished-fans-unruly-agency-2021-12">spoke with former staffers</a> and former clients of Unruly Agency, a secretive management firm for popular <keyword id="11894122" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="influencers" source="Orion">influencers</keyword>.</li></ul><p>Creating exclusive content for fans is a lucrative revenue stream for many social-media influencers.</p><p>OnlyFans, one of the top subscription-content platforms, allows creators to charge their fans for access to specific (and often risqué) photos and videos, or to send them direct messages.</p><p>The app surged in popularity during the start of the pandemic as consumers were stuck at home. While creators of many genres have made OnlyFans accounts, it has been particularly <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/meet-top-onlyfans-model-coach-for-creators-private-group-chat-2021-11">popular among creators of sexually explicit content</a>.</p><p>But keeping up an OnlyFans account as a creator can be time consuming: The gig often includes answering fans' direct messages to keep customers engaged, and posting fresh content to get new ones.</p><p>This dynamic has led to the rise of some <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/former-onlyfans-star-managers-say-they-catfished-fans-unruly-agency-2021-12">OnlyFans-focused management companies.</a> Industry insiders say some of these companies not only help models schedule, market, and create content, but also hire account managers to pretend to be the models — including when sexting fans.</p><p>One top firm, Unruly Agency, works with mainstream influencers with millions of Instagram followers, including Tana Mongeau, Daisy Keech, Charly Jordan, Abby Rao, and Netflix's "Too Hot to Handle" star Harry Jowsey.</p><p>Insider spoke with three former Unruly staffers and three former clients who said Unruly has a hidden army of "account managers" who spend much of their days ghostwriting responses to messages that fans pay to send some influencers. A November lawsuit by two other former Unruly staffers alleges that fans divulge their "deepest and innermost personal secrets including sexual fantasies and fetishes" thinking they are chatting with the influencers.</p><p>In the lawsuit, the two former staffers broke an informal code of silence around the company by saying Unruly required them "to intentionally lie to, dupe, and mislead fans." The two former staffers likened the ghostwriting practice to "fraud."</p><p>Unruly said in a statement that the allegations in the November complaint were "broadly stated" and "not supported by any evidence." It said the company was "confident that it will successfully resolve these matters in court, and looks forward to disproving the claims through the legal process." Unruly has not yet filed a legal response to the complaint.</p><p>Unruly declined to comment directly on the ghostwriting issue, citing the pending litigation. Rao, Jowsey, Jordan, and Keech did not respond to requests for comment. Mongeau's manager and producing partner, David Weintraub, the CEO of DWE Talent, said, "I don't know about anything like that whatsoever" when asked about ghostwritten messages.</p><p>But five people Insider spoke with who had worked with OnlyFans models said they believed the practice of ghostwriting was typical among management companies in the industry at large. And some industry insiders worry it could have negative consequences if widely known.</p><p>Adult entertainer Cherie DeVille, who is not managed by Unruly, said ghostwritten OnlyFans messages was a practice that concerned her.</p><p>"Now everyone will be like 'Who's really texting me?'" DeVille said. "It's a big scandal that everyone is being managed by these crazy people."</p><p>At least one current Unruly client appears to feel similarly. </p><p>In late 2020, when Insider asked one prominent Instagram influencer about ghostwritten messages, she admitted she'd had others write messages for her. But she said OnlyFans was making her more money than she had ever seen in her life. The elder Paul received widespread backlash in January 2018 <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/youtube-star-logan-paul-apologised-after-filming-a-dead-body-in-japans-suicide-forest-2018-1">for posting a YouTube video from Japan's so-called "suicide forest,"</a> actually named the Aokigahara forest, after discovering a dead body. Paul blurred out the individual's face, but showed their dead body on-camera. He soon deleted the video and <a href="https://twitter.com/LoganPaul/status/948026294066864128">issued an apology</a>. </p><p>In June 2018, <a href="https://etcanada.com/news/342831/youtuber-ricegum-faces-backlash-over-ignorant-hong-kong-travel-video/">viewers compared a new RiceGum video to Paul's misstep</a>, as the YouTuber approached locals in Hong Kong and asked where he could procure "dog meat" to eat. "In China there's always jokes about, like, Asians eating cats and dogs and, like, I'm in China and I've been kind of looking for the past hour, and I haven't seen a restaurant or anything serving that," he said in the video. </p><p>That video is especially poignant now, as the spread of the novel coronavirus has quickly led to racism and xenophobia towards Asians worldwide and their eating habits, as <a href="https://www.eater.com/2020/1/31/21117076/coronavirus-incites-racism-against-chinese-people-and-their-diets-wuhan-market">Eater reported.</a> </p><p>Le apologized for his behavior in a subsequent video. Popular YouTuber RiceGum hosted a Twitch livestream that seemingly got him banned for nudity and called out by his ex-girlfriend

<ul class="summary-list"><li>While the US is taking gradual measures to lift shelter-in-place policies, some celebrities and <keyword id="1112328" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Influencers">influencers</keyword> seem ready to return to normal. </li><li>This month, Clubhouse, an influencer group based in California, traveled to Tulum, Mexico, to launch a new "roaming travel house" called Clubhouse Explore, and documented themselves hanging out on the beach and attending a dance club.</li><li>"Have y'all forgot about the pandemic?" one commenter <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CBo8rVpnQfk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> underneath a Clubhouse Instagram post.</li><li>But despite some disapproving comments on social <keyword id="6354777" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Media">media</keyword>, Chris Young, the president of the holding company that owns the Clubhouse brand, said he doesn't consider the trip a mistake.</li><li>"The purpose of the trip was sort of two-fold," Young told Business Insider. "One was obviously to launch sort of our Explore page and our travel genre, but number two was also, it was a trip to just promote team bonding."</li><li>California's Public Health Office <a href="https://covid19.ca.gov/stay-home-except-for-essential-needs/#top">currently has this advice regarding travel on the state website</a>: "You can travel for urgent matters or if such travel is essential to your permitted work. Even though businesses around the state are opening up, avoid travelling long distances for vacations or pleasure as much as possible."</li></ul><p>While some states in the US are still in the early stages of lifting shelter-in-place policies and restrictions on travel, <a href="https://www.insider.com/celebrities-broken-lockdown-self-isolation-rules-quarantine">many celebrities and influencers</a> seem ready to return to normal. </p><p>Clubhouse, an influencer group with a physical house in Beverly Hills, traveled to Tulum, Mexico, to launch a new "roaming travel house," <a href="https://www.instagram.com/clubhouseexplore/">Clubhouse Explore</a>, this month. The group of Los-Angeles based influencers and <keyword id="6762469" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="TikTok">TikTok</keyword> stars posted photos and videos of their trip across social media, uploading a three-part series to their YouTube channel Clubhouse BH (77,000 subscribers). "One was obviously to launch sort of our Explore page and our travel genre, but number two was also, it was a trip to just promote team bonding."</p><p>Young said around 26 people went on the Tulum trip. Fifteen Clubhouse members flew to Mexico in a private jet, while nine traveled on a commercial airline, he said. The trip lasted four days for most of the people who went, though some are still in Mexico, he said.</p><p><div type="image" title="YTclubhouse1" height="1086" width="2230" msid="76540403" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Clubhouse Explore's launch is happening at a moment when the number of US coronavirus cases continues to increase in the south and west — driven in part by a <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/22/health/us-coronavirus-monday/index.html">spike in young people contracting the virus.</a></p><p>Social-distancing measures like wearing masks and staying six feet apart are still recommended in most states in the US including California, which <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/06/22/881703745/california-hits-new-high-in-covid-19-hospitalizations">hit a new peak</a> in its total number of COVID-19 related hospitalizations earlier this week. Health officials in California are <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-06-18/this-is-where-you-now-must-wear-a-mask-in-california-under-new-rules">now requiring that residents wear masks in public.</a></p><p>All members of the Clubhouse group who traveled to Mexico tested negative for COVID-19 before their departure, Young said. He said the group filmed themselves getting tested, but didn't end up including any footage of the tests in their YouTube uploads.</p><p>He added that they "wore masks part of the time, not all the time," though no footage of them in masks was included in the three YouTube vlogs.</p><p>While Young said the group was taking off-camera precautions, those fans who tuned into their presentation of the vacation across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok would not necessarily have understood that. </p><p>And as public figures with high visibility on social media, influencers who are <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@jasonderulo/video/6839375082649963781?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">continuing to gather in groups</a> without social distancing or masks — especially in California, where many reside — may be sending a mixed message about the degree to which they are taking the public health crisis seriously.</p><p>"So are influencers like immune to coronavirus?" a YouTube commenter wrote on one of the vlogs.</p><p><div type="image" title="Clubhouse" height="1094" width="2252" msid="76540405" hostid="261"></div></p><h2>'The first trip after quarantine'</h2><p>The Clubhouse trip to Tulum is also significant because it represents the first major new launch in the influencer travel sector since the pandemic shut down a big chunk of the travel economy in many countries.</p><p>In general, travel influencers have experienced a devastating hit to their businesses because of the pandemic. In mid-March, the lucrative market began a steep decline and<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-coronavirus-is-affecting-instagram-influencers-brand-sponsorships-2020-3"> brands canceled influencer-marketing deals and paid trips were placed on hold</a>. To make up for lost income <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-travel-instagram-influencers-have-adapted-business-to-coronavirus-2020-5">these influencers have been leaning into other content verticals</a> like food and lifestyle to reach wider audiences.</p><p>Two Clubhouse members who recapped the trip in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsE8ieukEc0&amp;t=302s302s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a> on YouTube described it as "the first trip after quarantine."</p><p>"Three of our influencers, their niche is travel, and so they wanted to sort of show their audience, 'Hey, if you take the precautions, it's okay to be traveling right now and you should support tourism and the economies around that,'" Young said.</p><p>California's Public Health Office has a different stance and <a href="https://covid19.ca.gov/stay-home-except-for-essential-needs/#top">currently has this advice regarding travel on the state website:</a> "You can travel for urgent matters or if such travel is essential to your permitted work. Even though businesses around the state are opening up, avoid travelling long distances for vacations or pleasure as much as possible."</p><p>The trip wasn't sponsored, though the group did receive offers from hotels to "gift" a free stay in exchange for social-media promotion, which Young said they declined.</p><p>Young said that one company, the fitness-beverage brand Celsius, decided not to renew a contract with Clubhouse member Mariana Morais after the trip.
