Discovery Upfront presentation in May that the series would air on HBO and stream on Max.</p><p>Production began in <a target="_blank" href="https://variety.com/2023/tv/screenwriters/craig-mazin-last-of-us-season-2-writers-room-1235816800/">February</a> in <a target="_blank" href="https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/last-of-us-season-2-vancouver">Vancouver</a>.</p><div type="image" title="maria, tommy, joel, and allie walking on a snow covered road in the last of us, wiht a sign to the right that reads welcome to jackson" height="960" width="1280" msid="106879718" hostid="261"></div><p>While "TLOU" season one covered the events of the 2013 game, the second season will not cover all of its 2020 sequel.</p><p>Series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who also created the game series, told GQ in March 2023 that the events of the second game will take place over "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/the-last-of-us-finale-ending-explained-interview">more than one season</a>."</p><h2 id="00574d3a-1c70-483c-8406-aa643173cc92"><strong>There will likely be a time jump from the end of 'The Last of Us' season 1</strong></h2><p>In an interview with Josh Horowitz on the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6CmLgAwiKo">"Happy Sad Confused" podcast</a> in February 2023, Ramsey said that while they were playing a 14-year-old Ellie in the first season of "The Last of Us," Ellie would be closer to their own age in season two.</p><p>"I'll be 20, probably by the time we shoot that, and I'll be playing 19," Ramsey said. Danny Ramirez will play Manny, Ariela Barer will play Mel, Tati Gabrielle will play Nora, and Spencer Lord will play Owen. The four characters are friends of Abby's from the Seattle settlement. Catherine O'Hara of "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cool-things-to-know-about-schitts-creek-fun-facts">Schitt's Creek</a>" is also <a target="_blank" href="https://x.com/StreamOnMax/status/1753478399341813884?s=20">set to appear</a> in the new season in an undisclosed guest role.</p><p>HBO also announced in May that <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jeffrey-wright-n-word-censor-dubbed-ride-with-the-devil-2024-1">Jeffrey Wright</a> ("American Fiction") would reprise his role from the games and play Isaac, the leader of the Washington Liberation Front, in season two. Per <a target="_blank" href="https://ew.com/the-last-of-us-jeffrey-wright-confirmed-as-isaac-season-2-8653447">Entertainment Weekly</a>, HBO describes Isaac as "the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy."</p><p>Another major character in the sequel game is Lev, a transgender teen who escapes a cult.</p><p>In February 2023, Ian Alexander, who voiced and performed the character through motion capture, told Business Insider they would <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-last-of-us-ian-alexander-lev-season-two-interview-2023-2">love to reprise their role on the live-action series</a>.</p><div type="image" title="Ian Alexander played Lev (right) in &quot;The Last of Us Part II.&quot;" height="600" width="1200" msid="106879724" hostid="261"></div><p>At the time, Alexander hadn't had any conversations about the role.</p><p>HBO hasn't announced casting for the character and it's not yet known if Lev will appear in season two. As a result, some players <a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow" href="https://www.polygon.com/2020/7/6/21314543/the-last-of-us-2-harassment-neil-druckmann-laura-bailey-naughty-dog-abby-death-threats-ps4"><u>harassed and threatened the developers, Druckmann,</u></a> and <a target="_blank" rel=" nofollow" href="https://www.nme.com/news/gaming-news/the-last-of-us-part-ii-director-on-fan-hate-thats-their-reaction-and-you-dont-fight-that-2699046"><u>voice actors</u></a> for its story.</p><h2 id="03dafa74-3374-4ae9-a87e-918d4ea9baca"><strong>Will Joel die in 'The Last of Us' season two? It's likely</strong></h2><p>Joel's fate is the question on every fan's mind, since it's the major jumping-off point of the sequel game. Even Pascal has admitted his character's death is a possibility in season two.</p><div type="image" title="Pedro Pascal as Joel on season one of &quot;The Last of Us.&quot;" height="1280" width="1707" msid="106879726" hostid="261"></div><p>"It wouldn't make sense to follow the first game so faithfully only to stray severely from the path," Pascal told <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a43518988/pedro-pascal-the-last-of-us-interview-2023/?utm_campaign=likeshopme&amp;utm_content=www.instagram.com%2Fp%2FCq5SRIztQFt%2F&amp;utm_medium=instagram&amp;utm_source=dash+hudson">Esquire in April 2023</a>.</p><p>"If that does take place in the show, I don't know that I'm emotionally ready for it," he added.</p><p>However, Mazin <a target="_blank" href="https://ew.com/tv/the-last-of-us-season-2-bella-ramsey-time-jump/">told Entertainment Weekly</a> that fans can expect some changes from the sequel game in season two, saying, "It's going to be different, and it will be its own thing. It won't be exactly like the game."</p><p>Maybe that means there's a chance Joel could live, or at least make it to the end of season two, due to Pascal's immense popularity.</p><p>Since the second game became controversial, it's likely the show may flesh out Abby's character more before killing Joel off, if the show decides to go that route. But it would be difficult to envision season two straying from Joel's death since it's the key motivation for Ellie's path in the sequel game.</p><h2 id="ddbd21fc-1224-46d5-8482-485eee5aed33"><strong>There will be more infected</strong></h2><div type="image" title="TLOU infected zombie" height="1280" width="1707" msid="106879727" hostid="261"></div><p>In the game, players are constantly outmaneuvering and killing a large number of the people who have been infected and taken over by the cordyceps virus. Though the infected showed up <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-last-of-us-bloater-adam-basil-actor-sex-icon-2023-2">in a few key scenes</a>, they weren't a main fixture of season one, which placed a large emphasis on character relationships and world-building.</p><p>"It's quite possible that there will be a lot more infected later. And perhaps different kinds," Mazin <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-last-of-us-season-2-more-infected-2023-3">said during a press conference</a> for the finale in 2023.</p><p>On HBO's <a target="_blank" href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-9-look-for-the-light/id1660320068?i=1000603849713">"The Last of Us" podcast</a>, Mazin added that season two will likely further explore the idea of the Cordyceps hive mind and how they can be a major threat together.</p><p>"I think this next season, the interconnectivity of them, and the risk of stepping on the wrong thing, that stuff is going to be brought forward more for sure," Mazin said.</p><h2 id="4e1ba23d-5669-4247-8288-d53753d9f3eb">Joel has a little more hair</h2><p id="4e1ba23d-5669-4247-8288-d53753d9f3eb">HBO released teaser images for season two during Warner Bros. "We've long sought the right partner in LA considering the NWSL fanbase that already exists in the region and the massive interest in women's soccer in general. Tennis icon Serena Williams and tech guru Alex Ohanian joined the ranks along with their daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr.</p><p>Talk show host Lilly Singh and a slew of big-name entrepreneurs — including Kara Nortman, Julie Uhrman, Casey Neistat, and more — also invested in the club alongside more than a dozen former US Women's National Team stars like Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy, Abby Wambach, Angela Hucles, and Lauren Cheney Holiday.</p><p><div type="image" title="mia hamm julie foudy.JPG" height="1124" width="1498" msid="77090362" hostid="261"></div></p><p>"Today we take an exciting step by announcing the first women majority-owned and led ownership group," Portman said in the NWSL's release. Not only can MBA programs provide you with a comprehensive education, but they can also help you <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-build-a-network-clients-didnt-go-to-business-school">increase your professional network</a>, shed light on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mba-graduates-harvard-stanford-columbia-share-unique-career-paths-after-business-school">new career paths</a>, and - depending on what you do with your degree afterward - your <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wharton-class-of-2019-compensation-data-breakdown">earning potential</a>, too.</p><p>But we can't ignore the fact that the price of most MBA programs is very steep. In fact, the <a href="https://www.mbaprograms.org/mbafinance/thecostofanmba.asp">average price of full-time tuition is $50,000</a>. Per year. That's a large investment.</p><p>There's some good news, though. Each year, the US government dedicates around $120 billion for federal student aid, and graduate students can apply for some of it. All you need to do is <a href="https://fafsa.ed.gov/spa/fafsa/?locale=en_US&amp;_ga=2.154798712.1563160907.1571420312-1863170914.1570494332">fill out a FAFSA form</a>. </p><p>Here's what you need to know about this process. </p><h2>What is FAFSA?</h2><p>FAFSA (which stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a questionnaire you need to complete if you want schools to consider you for financial aid.</p><p>It's approximately <a href="https://fafsa.ed.gov/fotw1819/pdf/PdfFafsa18-19.pdf">100 questions long</a>, with question topics ranging from your educational history to your income to any investments you might have. It's a lot of information, but every single answer is factored into your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which schools use to determine if you need aid and, if so, how much.  </p><h2>Can MBA students get federal funding? </h2><p>It's never a guarantee for anyone, but graduate students can definitely apply for federal student aid. If you applied for FAFSA for your undergraduate education, the process for grad students is almost exactly the same. </p><p>There are just three differences you should know about. </p><p>First, you won't be eligible for all the types of aid that undergraduates are. MBA students can get two types of loans: the <a href="https://www.govloans.gov/loans/loan-details/4370">Federal Stafford Loan</a> and the <a href="https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/types/loans/plus/grad-professional">Federal Grad PLUS</a>. As these are loans, you must pay back the full amount you borrowed plus any interest that accrues over time.</p><p>Second, whereas the loans for undergraduate students are subsidized (meaning the government pays the interest on them until graduation), graduate student loans are completely unsubsidized. That means that interest starts building up from the very day the money is distributed to you or the school you're enrolled in.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Courtesy of Nick Holeman</span></p><p class="caption">Nick Holeman.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The third main difference is that, while undergraduate students are usually filing as a dependant of their parents or guardians, the vast majority of <a href="https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/sites/default/files/graduate-professional-funding-info.pdf">grad students must file independently</a>.</p><p>"Students seeking financial aid for their MBA are automatically declared an independent," explained <a href="https://www.betterment.com/resources/author/nickholeman/">Betterment Certified Financial Planner Nick Holeman</a>. "This typically makes the application process much easier as applicants don't have to report their family's income and only [have to report] their own personal tax return."</p><p>This will directly impact your EFC - instead of factoring in your parents' or guardians' income, the school only considers yours (and your spouse's, if applicable). </p><h2>How much money can you get from FAFSA? </h2><p>The maximum amount of funding a graduate student can receive from the Stafford Loan is $20,500 each school year. With the Grad PLUS loan, you can borrow the total amount the program will cost you, though if you receive financial aid from any other sources, they'll subtract that from your maximum allowance. </p><p>There's no concrete answer to how much you, specifically, will be awarded (and there's no guarantee that you'll be awarded any at all). The final number is largely dependent on the program you want to join and your EFC. </p><p>When you fill out your FAFSA form, <a href="https://fafsa.ed.gov/help/fotwf.htm">you'll indicate between one and 10 schools you want the form sent to</a>. Each institution will use that to figure out how much aid they should award you. To do this, they take the total price of attendance and subtract your EFC. Sometimes, they include cost of living in the attendance cost, too. </p><h2>How do you qualify for financial aid?</h2><p>Before you fill out your form, confirm that you are, in fact, eligible to apply. That means you must be a US citizen or an eligible non-citizen, have a high school diploma or GED, and have a social security number. You also need to prove that you're already accepted into or enrolled in a degree program and that you have some level of financial need. (<a href="https://fafsa.ed.gov/help/fftoc03a.htm">There are a few other requirements you should check out</a>, too.)</p><p>If you're not sure if you have a true financial need, you should still apply - there's no max income cutoff, and you can't be 100% certain what your EFC will be. It could very well be below what the total costs of the program will be. </p><h2>How do you apply for FAFSA?</h2><p>Here's the good news: This is a fairly straightforward process. It just requires filling out a form, and the easiest way to go about it is to <a href="https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa">fill it out online</a>. This includes (but is not limited to):</p><ul><li>All records of money earned (for example, tax forms, W-2s, W-9s)</li><li>Bank and brokerage statements</li><li>Details of any investments you may have</li><li>List of schools you want to send FAFSA to</li></ul><p>While the process is pretty clear-cut, it can be tedious, as it requires a lot of little details. One good thing about filing independently is that you can completely skip Section 4, which is the parent and guardian information section. Every state has different deadlines. Connecticut's is February 15, for example, and New York's is June 30. Deadlines are based on your state of legal residence - not the state in which the schools you listed are located. <a href="https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/sites/default/files/2020-21-fafsa.pdf">Find the FAFSA deadlines here</a>.</p><p>Though you <em>can</em> apply until the last day, Holeman advised submitting your application as soon as possible.</p><p>"Some schools and states grant financial aid on a first-come-first serve basis," he explained. "So waiting until the last second may cause you to miss out."</p><h2>What happens after you apply?</h2><p>Once you hit submit, your form is sent to the financial aid offices of the schools you listed. Some universities may require you to fill out additional forms, so make sure you check into that.</p><p>Between three days and three weeks after submitted, the US Department of Education will send you a student aid report (SAR) summarizing your answers and letting you know what your EFC is. Based on all of this information, they'll decide how much financial aid you'll get and will send you an award letting. </p><p>If you accept the financial aid package, your loan money is distributed to that school's financial aid office. They'll use it to pay off the expenses you owe them first. You'll receive any remaining funds that you can use toward additional educational expenses.</p><h2>What happens if you don't receive any aid?</h2><p>If you don't receive any financial aid and are concerned about how you'll pay for your MBA, Holeman suggested the following options:</p><ul><li><strong>Consider private loans</strong>: MBA students can get credit-based private student loans. <a href="https://www.nerdwallet.com/best/loans/student-loans/private-student-loans">Compare the top options</a> and decide which works best for you.</li><li><strong>Look into tax advantages</strong>: Specifically, check out the <a href="https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/llc">Lifetime Learning Credit</a> and consider a <a href="https://www.sec.gov/reportspubs/investor-publications/investorpubsintro529htm.html">529 savings plan</a>.</li><li><strong>Apply for scholarships, fellowships, and assistantship positions</strong>: This is money you don't have to pay back, and I can vouch for the fact that this is a great option. An assistantship paid for my second year of grad school and gave me a monthly stipend.</li></ul><p>Additional education can be invaluable when it comes to your career - just make sure that you've done the research to make sure an MBA is the very best option for you before you borrow money. <ul class="summary-list"><li>"<keyword id="984744" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Borat">Borat</keyword> Subsequent Moviefilm" has boasted one of the most impressive marketing campaigns in movie history.</li><li>Through floats, statues, yoga workouts, social media accounts, and an infamous run-in with Rudy Giuliani and even President <keyword id="6354484" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Donald-Trump">Donald Trump</keyword> himself, <keyword id="59920" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sacha-Baron-Cohen">Sacha Baron Cohen</keyword>'s new mockumentary has hijacked the political conversation days before the US <keyword id="6359191" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="election">election</keyword>.</li><li>As Borat, Baron Cohen posted content on social media "supporting" his attackers, which only served to highlight their ignorance and prejudices even more.</li><li>Insider spoke to movie marketing expert Stacy Jones, who said that "Borat has reached over 78 billion impressions across internet, TV and radio with a media value of over $3 billion."</li></ul><p>Borat has taken over the world. Again.</p><p>For the second time, the <a href="https://www.insider.com/borat-2-harmful-stereotypes-kazakhstan-2020-10" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fictional Kazakh journalist</a> has emerged as the media's most talked-about figure. The only competition Borat has for that title currently is the man behind his genius-level antics — Sacha Baron Cohen himself.</p><p>The filmmaker, personally, was having a good year anyway before <a href="https://www.insider.com/borat-2-babysitter-movie-gofundme-campaign-jeanise-jones-amazon-stream-2020-10" target="_blank" rel="noopener">"Borat Subsequent Moviefilm"</a> was released earlier this year on Amazon Prime. He appeared in Aaron Sorkin's Netflix ensemble courtroom drama, "The Trial of the Chicago 7," as influential hippie activist Abbie Hoffman.</p><p>Baron Cohen not only earned great reviews, but some of the best of his career. In fact, <a href="https://www.insider.com/netflix-the-trial-of-the-chicago-7-review-oscars-2020-9" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Insider called his performance</a> the very best of his entire filmography. The filmmaker turned in a semi-serious performance as the activist, meshing his expectedly perfect comedic timing with a dramatic nuance. It's the sort of role that is primed for the Oscars.</p><p>But with his new mockumentary, the sequel to 2006's "Borat," Baron Cohen sets his sights on something even larger than the Academy Awards: the US presidential election.</p><p>In a masterclass of movie marketing, Baron Cohen and his team essentially hijacked the political conversation at one of the most important moments in US history. Here's how they did it.</p><div type="image" title="Borat Mickey Mouse pyjamas" height="1200" width="1600" msid="79007619" hostid="261"></div><h2>The movie came as a complete surprise</h2><p>In 2007, <a href="https://variety.com/2007/film/news/baron-cohen-retires-borat-ali-g-1117978095/">Baron Cohen said he had retired</a> the character of Borat, so no one was expecting another appearance from the Kazakh character, let alone a movie sequel. The actor did make a couple of appearances as Borat, including one in 2018 to encourage people to vote in the midterm elections, but there was still no mention of a sequel.</p><p>So it came as a surprise when Borat was spotted filming last summer. This slyness allowed "<keyword id="10080250" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="borat-2">Borat 2</keyword>" to be announced with maximum impact, catching everyone by surprise and landing with aplomb.</p><p>"Borat 2" landed with even more power because it came with many other films were being delayed. "No Time to Die," "Black Widow," "Wonder Woman 1984," "A Quiet Place Part II," "West Side Story," "Dune" were all pushed until 2021.</p><p>But "Borat" arrived with no notice and no build-up — just excitement. It felt like a statement in itself: "Borat" is here when no one else is.</p><h2><div type="image" title="Sacha Baron Cohen Borat Chicago 7 " height="1200" width="1600" msid="79007621" hostid="261"></div></h2><h2>The film's release date is a statement in itself</h2><p>It's typical for a movie or TV show to release in time for a major event like an election, and this year has been no different.</p><p>Several documentaries, including "Totally Under Control" and "American Selfie: One Nation Shoots Itself" have been released, while Aaron Sorkin has been involved in two big releases tied to this election: a "The West Wing" reunion special and "The Trial of the Chicago 7."</p><p>So when "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" was released on October 23 so close to the <keyword id="6421694" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="us-elections">US elections</keyword>, November 2, Baron Cohen was sending an obvious message for voters to pay attention. </p><p>Insider spoke to <keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword> marketing expert Stacy Jones of Hollywood Branded, who said that "the timing certainly leverages major news cycles who are looking for new coverage angles. The film content and subject matter offer what many find as humorous content and provides easy new headline and late night talk show content to play off of."</p><p>Essentially, the movie is a goldmine for media outlets looking for hits in one of the most competitive moments of the year.</p><p>Baron Cohen told <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/17/style/sacha-baron-cohen-maureen-dowd-interview.html">The New York Times</a> he initially struggled to get the film released ahead of elections. Potential streamers were apparently worried since the film mocks right-wing citizens, who've downplayed the novel coronavirus, and also shows one pro-choice counselor encouraging Borat's fictional onscreen daughter to "keep" her baby (it was a plastic baby) although it was insinuated that she'd been molested by Borat.</p><p>But thanks to Amazon, Baron Cohen got his wish.</p><p>"We wanted it to be a reminder to women of who they're voting for or who they're not voting for," Baron Cohen said. "If you're a woman and you don't vote against this guy, then know what you're doing for your gender."</p><h2><div type="image" title="Borat statue" height="1200" width="1600" msid="79007622" hostid="261"></div></h2><h2>Fans couldn't get away from Borat thanks to floats, yoga workouts, and social media</h2><p>We've seen big movie stunts before: "Jurassic World" placed velociraptors and dinosaur cages in various places, including Waterloo Station in London.</p><p>And with the might and money of Amazon Studios behind it, "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" was able to pull off some of the biggest promotional stunts we've ever seen. There've been barges and floats heading down the River Thames in London, as well as a statue erected in Sydney. Borat lookalikes were also hired to do yoga on an Australian beach.</p><p>Marketing expert Jones revealed that "according to media monitoring software, <a href="https://www.criticalmention.com/">Critical Mention</a>, the coverage created across TV, internet and radio, regarding Rudy Giuliani [who appears in the film] and Borat has reached over 78 billion impressions ... with a media value of over $3 billion."</p><p>Jones added that these enormous figures don't even take into account social media coverage, meaning the real value of the media attention around Baron Cohen and Borat is even higher.</p><p>First, a fake Kazakhstan government account was created, which started promoting "Borat" at the end of September when it live-blogged the debate. The account poked fun at Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and also tore Donald <keyword id="6354862" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="trump">Trump</keyword>, running for re-election, down.</p><p>The tweets, and the account, were later suspended, but it was effective. </p><p>Through Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, a Reddit Ask Me Anything session and a Twitch stream with Dua Lipa, Borat has flooded the internet with his presence and unmistakable brand of humor.</p><p>"Baron Cohen's films are designed to bring awareness to problems he sees in the ways people act," Jones told Insider, adding that while the film is "certainly" a political commentary, "it's sole purpose is not to be positioned as 'the film of the current political climate,' but instead a content showcase of what Cohen finds repugnant."</p><h2><div type="image" title="Borat 2 Rudy Giuliani interview" height="1200" width="1600" msid="79007623" hostid="261"></div>The movie's greatest marketing plot, however, involves Rudy Giuliani </h2><p>The most talked-about stunt in the movie, undoubtedly, is the one involving former New York City mayor and President Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.</p><p>Giuliani was duped into a fake interview with Tutar, Borat's 15-year-old daughter, played by 24-year-old actress Maria Bakalova. At the end of the interview, Tutar and Giuliani go into her hotel bedroom where Giuliani asks for her number and address. He's also seen with his hands down his trousers. Giuliani later said he was tucking in his shirt.</p><p>What has been almost as extraordinary as the stunt itself, is the media furror surrounding the prank, led by Borat himself.</p><p>"Borat continues to buffoon Giuliani by creating additional content 'in support' of Giuliani, which at its core continues to poke fun at the behavior he finds questionable," Jones told Insider.</p><p>One example is after Giuliani had dismissed the prank as a "fabrication," <a href="https://www.insider.com/borat-defends-rudy-giuliani-video-innocent-sexy-time-encounter-daughter-2020-10">Borat himself responded.</a></p><p>"I here to defend America's Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani. What was an innocent sexy-time encounter between a consenting man and my 15-year-old daughter has been turned into something disgusting by fake news media," he said. "I warn you. Anyone else try this and Rudolph will not hesitate to reach into his legal briefs and whip out his su-penis."</p><p>This is typical of Baron Cohen, who is not just a wily and wise comedian, but also a complete clown. That's not an insult: Baron Cohen literally attended <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2016/aug/02/philippe-gaulier-clown-school-emma-thompson-sacha-baron-cohen-edinburgh-festival-interview">clown school</a>. At École Philippe Gaulier, Baron Cohen trained to be a clown and credits his career to Gaulier himself, telling the <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/4722146/From-the-sublime-to-the-ridicule.html">Telegraph</a>: "Without him, I really do doubt whether I would have had any success in my field."</p><p>It's this training that enabled Baron Cohen to successfully create the characters for which he's so famous, including Ali G, Bruno, and Borat.</p><h2>Borat even got the attention of the US president</h2><p>If you ever needed proof of the high-reaching effect of the movie, look no further than the president of the United Status.</p><p>As reported by Voice of America's Steve Herman, when asked about the Giuliani footage in "Borat 2," Trump dismissed the stunt.</p><p>"I don't know what happened. But years ago, you know, he (<a href="https://twitter.com/SachaBaronCohen">@SachaBaronCohen</a>) tried to scam me and I was the only one who said no way. That's a phony guy and I don't find him funny."</p><p>Trump added: "To me, he's a creep."</p><p>Although the president couldn't resist attacking Cohen, in doing so, Trump proved that "Borat 2" had the desired effect: ruffling feathers in the highest office.</p><p> "President Trump has consistently showcased a need to weigh in on trending topics that negatively<br />portray his loyal supporters. Baron Cohen has leveraged these interactions with both President Trump and<br />Giuliani to continue to keep his film and message in front of the media, in order to garner more<br />awareness overall as both a marketing and political commentary strategy," marketing expert Jones told Insider.</p><p>It is interesting, however, that Baron Cohen did not respond to POTUS as Borat, as he did with the Giuliani response. Instead, he repsponded via his own personal Twitter account.</p><p>"Donald — I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! I admit, I don't find you funny either. But yet the whole world laughs at you," he wrote on October 24. "I'm always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you'll need a job after Jan. 20. Let's talk!"</p><p>Again, Baron Cohens tactics were clear — undermining the person in power with wit and awareness. </p><p>Jones said the actor likely responded as himself "to ensure that he put the power of his own self behind his commentary so the comedy was removed and his own truth could be heard."</p><p>The value of Borat is clearly huge.</p><p>If, as Jones said, the movie's main goal was to poke fun at those Baron Cohen finds repugnant then that's definitely been achieved.</p><p>It remains to be seen whether any larger goal has been successfully fulfilled, but this movie serves as a timely reflection of the political climate. How Sacha Baron Cohen hijacked the political conversation ahead of the US presidential election with 'Borat 2'

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Warning: Spoilers ahead for the season four finale of "<keyword id="8375938" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="The-Good-Place">The Good Place</keyword>."</li><li><keyword id="5601" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="NBC">NBC</keyword>'s "The Good Place" came to an end this January, and series star D'Arcy Carden (who plays Janet) just earned her first-ever Emmy nomination. </li><li>Carden spoke with Insider about what she thinks Janet's life is like post-finale, the sweet gift costar Manny Jacinto surprised her with, and her next series (Amazon's "A League of Their Own").</li></ul><p>The bittersweet, heartfelt season four finale of <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-good-place">"The Good Place"</a> premiered early in 2020, serving as a closing chapter for the comedy series. One of the show's main stars, D'Arcy Carden, is now getting a second send-off for the series thanks to the Television Academy.</p><p>At the end of July, Carden <a href="https://www.insider.com/2020-emmy-nominees-winners-list-2020-7">received her first-ever Emmy nomination</a> for her performance as the all-knowing being named Janet. </p><p>"While I was filming the show, a lot of the emotion and the tears came from how I was going to miss these people," Carden told Insider in a recent interview. "This [was] such an amazing experience. I love these people. I love this job. I love this friendship. I love this family we've made. But then actually watching the finale, the tears were about the show [and] these characters and the storyline. I'm just a huge fan of the show."</p><p>Insider spoke with Carden about what she imagines Janet is up to now in the afterlife, the surprise gift Manny Jacinto (who played Jason) had made for her, and more. </p><h2>What's next for Janet in the afterlife now that all her best friends are gone</h2><div type="image" title="The Good Place NBC 6 Colleen Hayes " height="1333" width="1778" msid="77752504" hostid="261"></div><p>"The Good Place" left Janet as the last main character in the afterlife, with each of the humans sent off through the "last door" and Janet's demon-friend Michael (Ted Danson) now living on Earth as a human. </p><p>Showrunner Mike Schur wanted to make sure fans weren't too sad for Janet, so the finale included the explanation that Janet, in all her non-human, non-robot glory, experiences time in a special way that gives her the ability to relive moments with her friends as if they're happening right then. So she's never truly left feeling "alone," even as time goes on into infinity (tracked not in years, but in what's known as "Jeremy Bearemies" in the show).</p><p>"There's a part of me, D'Arcy, that could be sad," Carden said. "Like, 'Poor Janet, she's all alone. Now she has to make new friends or whatever.' But I do think that the reason Mike put that line in there is to [tell us] she's going to be OK forever. She got to spend Bearamies with the love of her life and her best friends. And she can live in those moments whenever she wants to. That does bring me peace when it comes to Janet."</p><p>Carden says there's another reason why she feels good about Janet's fate.</p><p>"The fact that Michael is on Earth is very hopeful to me," Carden said. "She still has something to be excited for, like he will come back at some point and they'll be together again. Her very best friend in all of the universe will come back."</p><div type="image" title="The Good Place season four Colleen Hayes NBC 5" height="751" width="1001" msid="77752506" hostid="261"></div><p>Carden knows that the finale was extraordinarily bittersweet for many fans, since she counts herself among them. Carden recalled having a "crying headache" after watching the final cut of the series finale for the first time.</p><p>"As with this whole show, it's beautiful and emotional and all that, but it's not <em>easy</em>," Carden said. "Not that it's even dark, but it's not perfectly, sparkly, sunshine and rainbows. It's real and it's sad and it's complex."</p><h2>Manny Jacinto surprised D'Arcy Carden with the 'J+J' necklace his character gives to Janet in 'The Good Place' series finale</h2><div type="image" title="The Good Place NBC 7 Colleen Hayes " height="1280" width="1707" msid="77752512" hostid="261"></div><p>On January 30, "The Good Place" came to an end with an extra-long finale episode which included a loving goodbye scene between Janet and Jason (Manny Jacinto). Jason surprised Janet with a purple heart necklace engraved with "J+J," a small token to remember him by after he'd walked through the door that would end his existence. </p><p>The finale episode went over it's usual allotted time slot with a 53-minute runtime. To fill the airtime left on NBC, Seth Meyers hosted the cast for a post-finale special. This meant the whole main cast flew to New York City for a special last hurrah.  </p><p>"The night before, we watched the finale together and then we went out to dinner afterwards and had some drinks," Carden said. "I think we closed the bar down — we were out pretty late. And at one point, we were all sitting together at a table, everybody was drinking and talking, and Manny tapped me on the shoulder and I leaned over and he was like, 'Hey, I have something for you, but I don't know how to give it to you.'"</p><div type="image" title="D'Arcy Carden on the Seth Meyers special from The Good Place NBC" height="1666" width="2222" msid="77752521" hostid="261"></div><p>Carden told Jacinto to just give to her then, but he warned her that she might cry. </p><p>"He took me over into the corner and it was truly the sweetest little move," Carden said. "I am going to cry thinking about it. He had it in a little jewelry box and opened it and that necklace was inside. I was so touched. It's so Manny of him. He's so thoughtful and sweet and such a good friend and scene partner and he's just a special person."</p><p>You could see the "J+J" necklace wrapped around Carden's wrist during the Seth Meyers special the following night, giving one last tribute to Janet and Jason on air. </p><h2>What's next for Carden now that 'The Good Place' is over</h2><div type="image" title="A league of Their Own no crying in Baseball" height="1200" width="1600" msid="77752528" hostid="261"></div><p>Days after Carden's Emmy nomination was announced, she received more great news. After filming the pilot this past February (just before COVID-19 shut down Hollywood productions), Amazon's <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/a-league-own-reboot-ordered-series-at-amazon-1306264">"A League of Their Own" reboot</a> was ordered to series.  </p><p>Carden will costar in the series, which was co-created by "Broad City's" Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham. The show will be a "reinterpretation" of the 1992 Penny Marshall film, <a href="https://twitter.com/abbijacobson/status/1291473015499177984">as Jacobson explained in a tweet.</a></p><p>"It's such a beloved movie, and one that I grew up with and I loved so much, but I'm really excited that we're opening the world up a little bit and digging deeper into these characters and all-new characters," Carden said. "It just goes a little further."</p><p>Carden says filming the pilot felt like "summer camp," with the cast all staying in a hotel together. Leading up to the actual filming, the women all started playing baseball together a few times a week. </p><p>"It was so fun — just a bunch of gals playing baseball together," Carden said. "It really felt like we were a team. In such a strange way I almost forget that we were going to make a <keyword id="6355065" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="TV">TV</keyword> show. I'm so, so excited for people to see it. It's very fun and very beautiful, and I'm thrilled and honored to be a part of it.
