The government has announced a new update that enables an applicant to correct any inadvertent errors in name, year of birth and gender printed on the <keyword id="10440405" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="cowin">CoWIN</keyword> vaccination certificate. <keyword id="66720" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="users">Users</keyword> can make the correction through the CoWIN website. "Now you can make corrections to your name, year of birth and gender on your Cowin vaccination certificates if inadvertent errors have come in," the official handle of the <keyword id="8995296" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="aarogya-setu">Aarogya Setu</keyword> <keyword id="235499" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="APP">app</keyword> tweeted on Wednesday. The CoWIN vaccination certificates are used at the time of travel and helps in the access of several other premises. Earlier, the government had also allowed people who are vaccinated to update their status voluntarily on the Aarogya Setu app through a self-assessment process. Those who have got the single dose of the vaccine will get a single blue border with vaccination status on their home screen along with Aarogya Setu logo with a single tick. A 'Blue Shield' with double tick will appear on the app for those who are fully vaccinated, after 14 days of the second dose. This double tick will appear after verification of vaccination status from the CoWIN portal. Vaccination status can be updated through the mobile number used for CoWIN registration. And the app declares them "safe". As cities get unlocked and people begin to visit markets, eating joints, malls and other public places, this attitude is worrisome as this does not paint the real picture, especially if someone who is an asymptomatic Covid patient visits public places even with the 'safe' app tag on. "I only update the app while visiting the complex and leave it without any use for days. It surprises me that it is so easy to just fill in wrong details and enter wherever you want with the 'you are safe' tag," Kumar told IANS. Kumar said he has even seen people who are not aware of the Aarogya Setu app, downloading it right in front of the complex, filling the self-assessment form quickly with 'None of the Above' symptoms and entering the premises, only to remove the app later. According to latest data from app intelligence company Sensor Tower, Aarogya Setu downloads have decreased significantly in the country, as much as 90 per cent less last month compared to April when it was launched with much fanfare. As Delhi Metro resumed services after more than five months due to Covid-19 restrictions, officials in some stations, including Noida Sector 16, were seen trying to block entry of people into the station for not having "Aarogya Setu" app on their mobile phones during the initial trial phase. This despite the fact that in the new travel protocol for passengers published by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on September 3, it mentioned that "the use of 'Aarogya Setu App' for updating health status by passengers will be advisable." However, as the services gathered full steam, passengers have hardly reported facing any questions about having the app on the smartphones. The decision of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to make Aarogya Setu mandatory for metro commuters was brought to Karnataka High Court's notice this month after legal services organisation SFLC.IN's <keyword id="61253" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="advisory-board">advisory board</keyword> member Anivar A. Aravind filed a petition challenging the voluntary-mandatory nature of Aarogya Setu and invasion of privacy rights in the absence of a specific legislation governing data collected by it. Meanwhile, security guards at several outlets in shopping malls across the country are allowing entry only after visitors show they have the app downloaded on their mobile phones. A similar experience was reported by Aasheesh when he tried to visit a Lifestyle outlet at the City Centre Mall at Sector 10, Rohini in New Delhi. Visitors to government offices have also reported that they were allowed to enter the offices only after downloading the app. However, the biggest question is: Is it worthwhile to track people with Covid? "Several people in my localities have stopped using the app or removed it altogether as it at times creates panic, in case if the person was near a Covid-19 patient. Last week, the government allowed full occupancy in cinema halls and multiplexes starting from February 1. Now that the theatres are returning to normal operations, MIB has issued SOPs, which are as follows: <ul><li>Adequate physical distancing of at least 6 feet to be followed outside the auditoriums, common areas and waiting areas at all times. </li><li>Use of face covers/masks to be made mandatory at all times.</li><li>Availability of hand sanitizers, preferably in the touch-free mode, at entry and exit points as well as common areas within the premises. </li><li>Respiratory etiquettes to be strictly followed. This involves strict practice of covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing with a tissue/handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly. </li><li>Self-monitoring of health by all and reporting any illness at the earliest to state and district helpline. vi. Spitting shall be strictly prohibited. </li><li>Installation &amp; use of <keyword id="8995298" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="aarogya-setu-app">Aarogya Setu App</keyword> shall be advised to all.</li></ul>Entry &amp; Exit points <ul><li>Thermal screening of visitors/staff is to be carried out at entry points. Only asymptomatic individuals shall be allowed to enter the premises.</li><li>Provisions for hand sanitization should be made available at all entry points and in work areas.</li><li>Designated queue markers shall be made available for entry and exit of the audience from the auditorium and the premises.</li><li>The Exit should be done in a staggered row-wise manner to avoid crowding.</li><li>Sufficient time interval between successive screenings on a single screen as well as on various screens in a multiplex shall be provided to ensure row-wise staggered entry and exit of the audience.</li></ul>Show timings <ul><li>Staggered show timings shall be followed for multiple screens to avoid crowding. </li><li>The show commencement time, intermission period and finish time of a show at any screen shall not overlap with the commencement time, intermission period or finish time of a show at any other screen in a multiplex.</li></ul>Booking and Payments <ul><li>Digital no-contact transactions should be the most preferred mode for issue/verification/payments for tickets, food, and beverages, etc. by using online bookings, use of e-wallets, QR code scanners, etc.</li><li>Contact number shall be taken at the time of booking of tickets to facilitate contact tracing.</li><li>The purchase of tickets at the box office shall be open throughout the day and advance booking shall be allowed to avoid crowding at the sale counters.</li><li>Sufficient number of counters at the box office shall be opened with adequate physical distancing norms, to prevent crowding during physical booking of tickets.</li><li>Floor markers shall be used for physical distancing during queue management at the box office.</li></ul>

Sudhir said a second Navy ship INS Magar will leave for Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu on Sunday with 200 Indians. He said the exercise will be repeated next week by the Indian Navy warships. The first Naval ship from Male is expected to arrive at the Cochin Port on May 10, Port Trust officials in Kochi said.The INS Jalashwa is part of the repatriation mission launched by the Indian Navy to bring Indian citizens home from foreign shores, the Indian Navy said in a statement. Immigration procedures of the passengers were carried out in the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal in Male City. "Fantastic job by the entire team of @VelanaAirport for the safe repatriation of Indian nationals!" the high commission tweeted. The massive evacuation exercise is testimony to Maldives-India friendship, it said in another tweet. Several Indians who are travelling by the warship lauded the evacuation plan launched by the government."It is a very great thing that the High Commission did for us and we did not have any issues till now. We got everything with proper guidelines, all the things done by the High Commission," Pradeep, who hails from Palakkad, said. This would mean India doubling its economy in seven years from the existing gross domestic product (GDP) of $3.5 trillion. Factors like demographic dividend and domestic consumption have often been cited as the engines of India’s economic growth. “Achieving such high growth consistently over a medium-term time frame will need more than demographics or consumption, often recognised as India’s twin strength,” said the Deutsche Bank report, while outlining the other drivers of India’s economic growth going forward. India’s economic growth over the past two decades has been the second fastest amongst major countries, at an average of 7.5% per annum, only behind China’s 9.6% growth. The report states that there are now 481 million beneficiaries with ₹1.89 lakh crore in deposits in bank accounts. These previously unbanked users, who now have bank accounts thanks to JAM, can also avail of loans from regulated lenders instead of loan sharks. Enabling rapid financial inclusion has also helped the government steady its revenue streams thanks to the goods and services tax (GST), which came into force in 2017. GST now contributes nearly $20 billion on average every month to government revenue. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Clean energy transition" comment="subhead" text="Clean energy transition">Clean energy transition</cmsannotation> With fossil fuels becoming less sustainable due to their costs and the impact on the environment, India’s transition to clean energy is another growth driver, according to Deutsche Bank. Household access to electricity is now at nearly 100%, while the share of biomass in India’s energy matrix has declined by more than 50%. Renewable energy sources contribute to nearly 40% of India’s total installed energy capacity, and this is projected to increase to 60% by 2030. In terms of absolute numbers, India is projected to increase its renewable energy capacity from the current 157 gigawatt to 497 gigawatt by 2030. The reduction in reliance on fossil fuels will also help India cut its trade deficit, since it is still a net importer. “Renewable energy in India promises to be an enabler of several key strategic objectives such as advancing sustainable economic development; improving energy security and mitigating climate change,” the report added. The report cites various initiatives like the Umang super app for citizen services, Aarogya Setu, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). “Each of these initiatives has boosted productivity, sharply reduced transaction costs and leapfrogged the country into a digital era in a way unparalleled across the world,” the report said. UPI, for instance, has 399 banks on its network and has processed 83.75 billion transactions in FY23, with a total transaction value of ₹139 lakh crore. On the other hand, Europe and China are projected to witness a degrowth in their working-age populations. The report has also identified certain similarities between India’s economic and demographic status of today with that of China’s back in 2007. It says that India’s median age of 28.4 years, its GDP and per capita GDP are all at the same levels as those of China’s in 2007. For context, the Chinese economy is now worth $18.3 trillion. In addition to these trends, the continued efforts to formalise the informal economy are setting the stage for India to double its economy to become the fourth largest by the end of this decade. The CoWIN mobile app along with alternative methods to register — the UMANG and Aarogya Setu mobile apps — crashed the moment registrations opened up at 4 p.m. The CoWIN website wasn’t sending out one-time-passwords (OTPs) initially either, but was back up in action within minutes. However, that’s about all the good news that there is. In order to get your OTP, you need to go to the main CoWIN portal, click on the registration button, enter your phone number.
