The MeitY has however withdrawn the advisory to avoid “misinterpretation of the press release”. Government withdraws advisory on Aadhaar photocopies, asks citizens to be cautious while sharing Aadhaar card details

<ul><li>A temporary <keyword id="144117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aadhaar" source="Orion">Aadhaar</keyword> may soon be given to infants soon after their birth.</li><li>Aadhaar will also be linked to death records to plug the leak of direct benefit transfer.</li><li>The temporary Aadhaar will be converted to permanent when the children attain five years of age.</li></ul>The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) which is tasked with issuing and managing Aadhaar to the citizens is preparing to launch two new pilot programmes which may make Aadhaar a part of life from birth to death. The new programme proposed by UIDAI is aimed at plugging misuse of benefit transfers and offering benefits to children from birth. According to an Economic Times <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/uidai-is-expanding-aadhaar-to-cover-a-persons-entire-lifecycle-from-birth-to-death/articleshow/92212747.cms">report</a>, new-born infants and death registration records may soon be linked to Aadhaar. New-born infants are expected to receive a temporary Aadhaar number at birth, which will later be renewed with biometric data. This is aimed at offering government benefits to the children and their families right from their birth. Similarly, death registration records may soon be linked with Aadhaar to plug the leak of direct benefit transfers. “The allocation of a UIDAI number at birth will ensure that children and families benefit from government programmes and no one is left out of the social security net,” an official familiar with the matter told ET. The biometric data of children is generally taken after they are five years old. As part of the pilot, teams from UIDAI will visit families and collect biometric data of children after they are five years old and provide them with a permanent Aadhaar number. “Biometrics for kids are taken when they are at least five years old. Our teams can visit these new-borns’ families after that period and complete the formalities of registering their biometric, and allocating them a permanent Aadhaar number,” the official added. The biometrics will be taken again when the child turns 18 as “these parameters stabilize by then and remain the same for an individual’s remaining natural life.” <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="UIDAI to track deaths" comment="subhead" text="UIDAI to track deaths">UIDAI to track deaths</cmsannotation> UIDAI will track deaths using city and state databases and the body also plans to approach public and private hospitals for data on deaths to avoid duplication of data. This move is mainly aimed at stopping the benefits to the deceased, which has become important after the spike in deaths due to the COVID pandemic. “Pensions of people who have passed away recently are still being withdrawn or automatically credited to their accounts as the Aadhaar number is still active. Just borns to now get a temporary Aadhar number

<ul><li>There has been an increase in <keyword id="43991" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="financial-fraud" source="Orion">financial fraud</keyword> amid an increase in financial transactions.</li><li>People are storing important financial information on their smartphones without any security.</li><li>88% of the people surveyed have submitted their Aadhaar as proof for applications and bookings.</li></ul> The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revealed that 5,406 instances of financial fraud were reported during April-September 2022, up from 4,069 reports during the same period in 2021. According to the central bank, the modus operandi for fraud has shifted to card and internet-based transactions. A similar survey in 2021 revealed that 11% of people were storing important financial data on their phones, meaning there has been an increase in this number, despite attempts by the central bank to raise awareness among the people. 18% of the people revealed that they store financial information on their computers and laptops. Despite a rise in financial frauds, 17% of people store financial information on their smartphones

The Ebay listing was spotted by a <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/v127zt/google_pixel_7_prototype_128gb_stormy_black/">Reddit user</a> who claimed that they spotted the listing and it has not been posted by them. The Pixel 7 prototype listing has now been removed but the images give us a good idea about the upcoming smartphone. It is not clear how the person was able to get their hands on the Pixel 7 prototype. Then again, this is not the first unannounced device from the company to show up in the wild. Google Pixel 7 prototype spotted on Ebay, listing now removed

The investigative arm of the competition watchdog is currently investigating documents that have revealed financial dealings between e-commerce platforms and their preferred sellers. According to an Economic Times <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/cci-reviews-documents-suggesting-nexus-between-e-commerce-firms-and-preferred-sellers/articleshow/91898945.cms">report</a>, the investigative arm, which is currently reviewing the documents found during a <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/big-story/story/cci-raids-amazon-flipkart-seller-offices-cait-welcomes-the-move-331611-2022-04-28">raid</a> last month, has sought more time from the CCI. The raids were conducted on the offices of <keyword id="18635" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="amazon" source="Orion">Amazon</keyword> and Flipkart’s sellers. The investigation was supposed to be completed in the first week of June. However, additional time has been sought to analyze data. “Some important data has been seized during the raids and the same needs to be analyzed,” a source familiar with the investigation told ET. According to a source, the investigators recovered documents pertaining to “financial linkages” between the e-commerce platforms and sellers on the platforms. The documents reportedly also contain data related to costs. “Deep discounting is a key antitrust issue that CCI is probing and the documents pertaining to the acquisition costs of the goods will provide more insights on who is subsidizing these goods,” added the source. One of the issues being probed by the watchdog is the equity held by e-commerce giants in these online vendors. “Also, since some of the ecommerce companies themselves own shares in the online vendors, CCI is examining the terms of such equity investments,” the source said. The <keyword id="76562" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="confederation-of-all-india-traders" source="Orion">Confederation of All India Traders</keyword> (CAIT), a trader’s body, has welcomed the investigation and the raids conducted on the online vendors. CAIT has been a vocal critic of e-commerce platforms and the deep discounts offered by them. The CAIT in 2020 had approached CCI, alleging abuse of market dominance by e-commerce platforms. In its petition, CAIT had claimed that the e-commerce platforms were forcing vendors to become preferred vendors and then promoting them over non-preferred vendors. India’s competition watchdog is probing deals between Amazon, Flipkart and their preferred sellers

Nykaa reported a revenue of ₹3,774 crore for FY22, representing an increase of about ₹1,300 crore. Its net profit, however, declined by ₹20 crore during the same time frame. As per ICICI estimates, its revenues could touch a billion dollars in the next two years. Essentially, digital transformation is high on the radar for Indian and UK businesses, but not so much in the US.
