Mumbai, Jun 12 () The State Bank of India (SBI) on Friday relaunched its Aadhaar-based instant digital savings account facility for customers who want to open an online account using the Yono platform. Yono is the lender's integrated banking and lifestyle platform. The 'insta savings bank account' will offer a complete paperless and instant digital savings account opening with just PAN and Aadhaar number, the bank said in a release. "This account has all the features that would provide our potential customers a convenient, hassle-free and paperless banking experience without visiting the bank branch," SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar said. The bank will issue basic personalised RuPay ATM-cum-debit card to all the new account holders of insta saving bank accounts. To open account, customers need to download the Yono app, enter their PAN and Aadhaar details, submit one-time password, and fill other relevant details, the release said. Nomination facility is also available for account holders along with SMS alerts and SBI's missed call service. Once the process is completed, the account holder will get his/her account activated instantly and can start transacting immediately. Customers will have the flexibility to upgrade to full KYC (Know Your Customer) account by visiting their nearest SBI branch within one year's time. HV RVK

SBI relaunches Aadhaar-based online savings account opening facility

Soon, you will have to pay for petrol and diesel through <keyword id="546774" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aadhaar-cards">Aadhaar cards</keyword> as the Indian government is planning to come up with a payment system that will allow you to pay through a single number. 
 
You will have to remember your Aadhaar number as the payment will allow you to pay for fuel by simply pressing their fingers on an Aadhaar-verifying device that would trigger the transfer of money from their bank accounts to the filling station. 
 <keyword id="6357585" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Consultancy-Services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> has been roped in to build this facility at about 1,000 filling stations. 
 
The IT major has built an application that can be downloaded on to mobile devices used at filling stations, which would be connected to Aadhaar-verifying devices. Once a customer's identity is validated, the system will debit the billed amount from the Aadhaar-linked bank account and transfer it to the fuel station's account. 
 
"Many people are scared of using cards or mobile wallets because they are a little shaky about technology. This is what we are trying to address by making the consumer interface friendlier," an oil ministry official told ET.

In an aim to move towards cash less society, the government is coming up with an app that would do away with plastic cards and the point of sale machines. Scheduled to be launched tomorrow, this would eliminate the fees charged by card companies, which would eventually make merchants agree to switch completely to digital mode. 
 Merchants need to download the <keyword id="144117" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="AADHAAR">Aadhaar</keyword> cashless merchant app on their smartphones connected to a biometric reader, which is currently available for Rs 2,000. The customer will then feed his or her Aadhar number into the app, select the bank through which the transaction will take place, and the biometric scan will work as a password for the transaction to be authenticated. The government upgraded Co-WIN, which was being used in the initial two phases of the vaccination for immunisation of healthcare and frontline workers. It was created for real-time monitoring of Covid-19 vaccine delivery. The eligible beneficiaries will be able to register simply on the portal using their mobile number following a step by step process. What to do after registering on the CO-WIN app? Once the registration is completed, the application will show the government and private hospitals serving as COVID Vaccination Centres (CVC) with the available schedules. You would be given an option to choose the CVC of choice and book an appointment for vaccination. The vaccination will be free at the government facilities and paid at private facilities. The government has capped the price at private hospitals at ₹250 per shot for the vaccine. The COVID-19 vaccine recipients may not be able to pick and choose among the two vaccines available in India — Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield, which is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII). A person can register up to four beneficiaries with a single mobile number. However, you would be required to carry identity proofs for all beneficiaries separately. What documents will be required to register on the CO-WIN app? The government has prepared a list of 20 comorbidities, including diabetes and heart failure, with hospital admission in the past one year, prioritised in the third phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive. Only one time registration is needed and after vaccination, a certificate will be issued to the beneficiary — on the portal to those who registered digitally — and physically to those who got registered on-site. The second scheduled dose of vaccine will be given at the same facility where the beneficiaries receive their first shots.
