The drug firm had reported a net profit of Rs 297 crore in the January-March quarter of the 2022-23 fiscal. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 5,534 crore in the period under review from Rs 5,011 crore in the year-ago period, Zydus Lifesciences said in a statement. For the year ended March 31, 2024, the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,859 crore as compared with Rs 1,960 crore in FY23. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 19,547 crore from Rs 17,237 crore in the 2022-23 fiscal. "Our relentless focus on patient centricity, operational efficiency, strategic investments, and execution of our diversified product portfolio continues to pay off, resulting in a significant improvement in profitability as well," Zydus Lifesciences MD Sharvil Patel said. The company said its board has approved a final dividend of Rs 3 per equity share of Re 1 each, subject to approval of the shareholders. Shares of the company ended 4.28 per cent up at Rs 1,051.90 apiece on the BSE. Zydus Q4 net profit surges 4-fold to ₹1,182 cr; revenue at ₹5,534 cr

New Delhi, <keyword id="13247465" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zydus-Lifesciences" source="Orion">Zydus Lifesciences</keyword> Ltd on Friday reported over two-fold rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,086.9 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2023 driven by strong sales growth from US formulations. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 518.3 crore for the same quarter last fiscal, Zydus Lifesciences said in a regulatory filing. Revenue from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 5,139.6 crore as against Rs 3,964.4 crore in the year-ago period, up 29.6 per cent. India geography clocked sales of Rs 1,920.6 crore in the first quarter as compared to Rs 1,816.7 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. Sales from US formulations were at Rs 2,454.1 crore as compared to Rs 1,559.2 crore in the same quarter a year ago, up 57.4 per cent, the company said. Active pharmaceutical ingredients clocked sales of Rs 138.9 crore in the first quarter as against Rs 122.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, it added. During the quarter, the company witnessed a broad-based operational growth in its key businesses and a favourable product mix enhanced profitability, Zydus Lifesciences Managing Director Sharvil Patel said. "Strong execution and volume offtake drove revenue ramp-up in the US, while the India branded formulations business, adjusting for NLEM (national list of essential medicines) impact delivered solid 12 per cent growth," he added. On the outlook, he said,"We remain reassured on achieving profitable growth aspirations for the fiscal year and thereby enhance stakeholder value."

Analysts suggest subscribing to this pharma company IPO on discounted valuation and strong product portfolio than peers

New Delhi, Feb 5 () Consumer healthcare firm Zydus Wellness on Wednesday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 4.24 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2019. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 39.69 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Zydus Wellness said in a regulatory filing. The consolidated financial results for the three and nine months ended December 31, 2019 include operations of Heinz India Pvt Ltd which was merged into Zydus Wellness Products Ltd, hence the results are not comparable with those of the previous periods, the company said. Consolidated revenue from operations of the company stood at Rs 332.67 crore for the quarter under consideration. It was Rs 145.41 crore for the same period a year ago. New Delhi, May 19 () About 90 per cent startups said they are facing a decline in revenues, and about 30-40 per cent indicated temporarily halting their operations or in the process of closing down, according to a survey by IT industry body Nasscom. About 70 per cent startups surveyed said they have a cash runway of fewer than three months, the most affected being the early stage and mid-stage start-ups. With businesses seeing significant impact due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many startups have frozen hiring, slashed salaries and laid off people. Nasscom conducted an e-survey, with participation from over 250 startups, during April to study the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on Indian startups, and understand the measures needed to minimise the impact. "Yes, the situation is grim - 90 per cent startups facing a decline in revenues...However, it is not all doom and gloom; more than half of the startups are looking to pivot to new business opportunities, diversify into growth verticals like healthcare, and enhancing focus on emerging tech like AI, IoT, cloud," Nasscom President Debjani Ghosh said. She added that the situation is "not all doom and gloom" and more than half (54 per cent) of the start-ups are looking to pivot to new business opportunities, diversify into growth verticals like healthcare (40 per cent), and enhancing focus on emerging tech like artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and Cloud (50 per cent). Ghosh said historically, such downturns have also led to business disruptions and transformations that have opened up a plethora of opportunities to tenacious entrepreneurs. "However, to ensure that the Indian startup movement and its growth trajectory is not derailed, coordinated support from key stakeholders is the need of the hour. I believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel and we will emerge stronger and wiser from this crisis," she emphasised. Some of Nasscom's key recommendations to the government included access to working capital, easing compliances and fiscal policy and funding support. With about 9,300 tech-startups, India continues to be the world's third-largest tech start-up ecosystem. Over 1,300 start-ups were added in 2019. About 92 per cent of respondents said they are facing a revenue decline after COVID-19 pandemic. About 62 per cent said the topline decline would be over 40 per cent, while 34 per cent said they are looking at a fall of over 80 per cent. About 40 per cent of start-ups are temporarily halting operations or closing business, and 60 per cent of B2C are facing business closure, the survey said. There are green shoots as well. About 14 per cent of Edtech, fintech and healthtech startups said they expect growth in revenue. Startups are facing client payment delays and manpower crunch, which are impacting business. Start-ups going for significant marketing spend reduction, and three out of four low revenue startups are going for pay-cuts, the survey pointed. Mature startups expect COVID effect to last up to eight months, while mid and low revenue startups foresee the effect lasting beyond that timeframe. Redcliffe Lifesciences founder Dheeraj Jain said an additional challenge lies ahead in the form of slowdown in consumer demand as severe economic recession is bound to happen. He said large enterprises are deferring investments, and consumers may defer purchase of non-essential items. "Pivoting for short-term or re-building for mid-term is the key for those (startups) who have been impacted the most. For some, COVID-19 came as an opportunity to re-assess themselves and see if it's worth continuing. The researchers tried to treat a patient with Remdesivir for 10 days, where each patient received a 200 milligrams (mg) dose on the first day and 100 mg doses on subsequent days. “These Remdesivir, Hydroxychloroquine, Lopinavir and Interferon regimens appeared to have little or no effect on hospitalized COVID-19, as indicated by overall mortality, initiation of ventilation and duration of hospital stay,” noted the findings of the WHO’s Solidarity trial that was released on medRxiv. Gildead disagrees with WHO study Remdesivir was originally developed by Gilead Sciences to treat the Ebola virus and Hepatitis C. The company has so far <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/15/health/coronavirus-remdesivir-who.html">refuted</a> all the claims made by the WHO study. It asserts that more rigorous studies have found Remdesivir beneficial. “The emerging data appear inconsistent with more robust evidence from multiple randomised, controlled studies validating the clinical benefit of (Remdesivir),” Gilead <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/ee9b611f-2b4b-4572-afe1-b0b804d17a94">said </a>in a comment. The WHO study is likely to be a setback for all the pharmaceutical companies producing Remdesivir. The increasing number of cases in India drove the demand for Remdesivir. According to industry experts, Remdesivir was bringing in at least ₹6.5 million to ₹13 million in revenues per day at the current caseload. “Assuming 5% to 10% market share, we estimate current demand at 1,200 to 2,400 vials per day, which translates to ₹6.5 million to ₹ 13 million in revenues per day at the current caseload. We factor in ₹1.2 billion and ₹0.9 billion in sales from Remdesivir in FY21F and FY22F respectively,” a Nomura report dated October 2020 said. WHO isn’t alone in its skepticism of Gilead’s Remdesivir Remdesivir emerged as one of the most preferred treatments for COVID-19 — this new found disease that was threatening the world — largely driven by Gilead’s narrative. Despite the warnings, Gilead Sciences continue to claim Remdesivir as a plausible treatment for COVID-19. <keyword id="363206" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel-Africa">Airtel Africa</keyword> on Friday reported a fall of 8.8 per cent in its net profit on a year on year (YoY) basis at $88 million for the quarter ended September. The company's revenue for the period under review was $965 million compared with $844 million earned during the July-September quarter of the last financial year. In a statement, the company said that its <keyword id="445843" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="customer-base">customer base</keyword> grew by 12.0 per cent to $116.4 million during the quarter. <keyword id="702372" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raghunath-Mandava">Raghunath Mandava</keyword>, CEO of <keyword id="15491" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> Africa, said: "The first half of our fiscal year included the peak impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the countries where we operate in, as <keyword id="8960115" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lockdown-measures">lockdown measures</keyword> were swiftly implemented to stem the initial spread of the contagion." He noted that in these unprecedented times, the telecom industry has emerged as a key and essential service for these economies, allowing customers to work remotely, reduce their travels, keep them connected, and allow access to affordable entertainment. "In these exceptional circumstances, in the first half, we delivered a strong set of results and as lockdown restrictions eased during Q2 our performance continued to improve with constant currency revenue growth of 19.6 per cent, up 6.6 per cent from the prior quarter," the CEO said. Alphabet's 'other bets' are bringing in more money, but still cost tons

Because Northwell owns every piece of the care-delivery system - from academic medical centers to local doctors - it can be the one to drive change in healthcare."If you listen to the people on the outside they say 'Technology's going to change everything and then hospitals have to figure out how to get in the business,'" Dowling said. "We're in the business. We do more of it than all of the others put together."Northwell is increasingly moving complex operations to local clinics, adding new technology, and changing up how it delivers mental healthcare."When you have big systems like this over time, being able to integrate all the pieces, make them be able to work together, that will change healthcare," Dowling said. Dowling pointed to groups like Haven, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jpmorgan-amazon-berkshire-hathaways-haven-office-in-nyc-hiring-tech-talent-2019-4">the joint healthcare venture from Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan;</a> the newly combined <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cvs-healths-strategy-to-change-healthcare-after-aetna-merger-2019-6">CVS Health-Aetna;</a> and partnerships between pharmacy giant <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/walgreens-ceo-stefano-pessina-on-partnering-with-microsoft-and-alphabet-2019-1">Walgreens and health insurer Humana</a> built on the premise of trying to make healthcare more convenient, less complicated to navigate, and less expensive than traditional hospitals and health systems.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image">Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for WIRED25Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.</div></div></div>Big-tech players for their part like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/scott-galloway-amazon-will-be-the-fastest-growing-healthcare-company-2018-12">Amazon and Google</a> are getting interested in tackling healthcare. Amazon, for instance, in November announced it would <a href="https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/machine-learning/introducing-medical-language-processing-with-amazon-comprehend-medical/?tag=bisafetynet2-20">offer a service called Amazon Comprehend Medical</a> to hospitals, insurers, and pharmaceutical companies to help them analyze their health-records data. The company also bought pharmacy startup PillPack in 2018, marking its entrance into prescription-drug delivery.Alphabet, Google's parent company, has a number of bets in healthcare, ranging from <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/walgreens-partnerships-with-alphabet-verily-humana-wall-street-2018-12">Verily</a>, its life-sciences arm that's developing surgical robots, to Calico, its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ancestry-google-release-first-genealogy-study-longevity-aging-genetics-2018-11">life-extension spin-off</a>. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsofts-peter-lee-on-tackling-healthcare-2019-1">Microsoft</a> and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/morgan-stanley-on-how-apple-could-disrupt-healthcare-2019-4">Apple</a> are also finding ways to embed themselves into the healthcare industry. "They're all going to change the world as if nothing has been changing," Dowling said. "It's been changing dramatically for years."For instance, Northwell has closed some of its hospitals. Today it operates 23 hospitals and 750 care sites. It made $11.5 billion in revenue in 2018, making it the largest health system in New York by revenue. The organization's been moving a lot of care outside the hospital: A decade ago, it made 80% of its revenue from hospitals. Today, it's 50%. A decade later, that's down to half.</a><h2>The changing front doors of healthcare</h2>There's lot of competition for patients. on being the place you go when you get sick. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/unitedhealth-groups-plan-to-make-optumcare-a-100-billion-business-2019-5">UnitedHealth Group is making a push to make its doctor practices a $100 billion business</a>. CVS is rolling out <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cvs-health-pharmacy-healthhub-tour-photos-2019-2">1,500 HealthHubs over the next two years in its pharmacies</a> with the hope that you'll go there for help beyond flu symptoms. Dowling said he worries that the new entrants only want to concern themselves with the healthiest, which could leave him with patients who are harder to care for, putting even more pressure on the hospital model.But in cases of life-threatening emergencies, like what feels like heart attack symptoms, you're still going to want to go to the hospital, he said."If you get pain down your left arm and you're sweating, you're not going to CVS or Walgreens or Humana. You're coming to one of us because you want your life saved."And when it comes to technology, he's concerned it'll actually make healthcare more expensive. For instance, technology aimed at catching diseases early could lead to more costs for the tests themselves, as well as costs for monitoring. To be sure, new advancements in medicine often come with high price tags. "All the tech companies that say they're going to save money, they're going to sell technology. I have yet to find tech that saves money in healthcare," Dowling said. Which isn't to say that the pressure from new entrants isn't helpful. "I appreciate all of these things that all of these other people are doing because quite frankly it'll make things better overall," Dowling said. Still, he doesn't want to be discounted.
