<strong>1. Ardeshir Irani</strong><br />
He is, and will always be, remembered as the person who gave voice to Indian movies. He directed the 1931 film <em>Alam Ara</em>, which was the first sound film of India. In his professional career, he made films in several languages and immortalised his name as the early contributors of <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword>.<br />

<strong>2. <keyword id="31951" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Boman-Irani">Boman Irani</keyword></strong><br />
Perhaps the best known Zoroastrian in Bollywood today, Boman Irani needs no introduction. Starting his career in 2001 with <em>Everybody Says I’m Fine</em>, he has established himself as the leading character actor in Bollywood today. Known for his comic roles, Boman Irani has also won awards for playing negative roles in movies.<br />

<strong>3. Daisy Irani</strong><br />
One of the earliest child actors in Indian cinema, Daisy Irani started acting when she was only three years old. Some of the most memorable roles she did as a child actor were in the movies <em>Jagte Raho</em>, <em>Bhai Bhai</em>, <em>Naya Daur</em> and <em>Dhool Ka Phool</em>. Getting married at a tender age of 19, she made a comeback on screen in 1990s. She was last seen in <em>Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi</em>, directed by Bela Sehgal. She is the maternal aunt to <keyword id="5015" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Farhan-Akhtar">Farhan Akhtar</keyword>, Zoya Akhtar, Sajid Khan and Farah Khan.<br />

<strong>4. Honey Irani</strong><br />
She too started her career as a child actress (with her younger sister Honey Irani), she turned to script writing after her marriage with playwright Javed Akhtar went sour. The first film to have been penned down by Honey Irani was Sridevi and Anil Kapoor starrer <em>Lamhe</em>. Her other famous films include <em>Aaina</em>, <em>Darr</em>, <em>Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai</em>, <em>Koi... Mil Gaya</em>, <em>Krrish</em> and <em>Krrish 3</em>. She is the mother of Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar, and maternal aunt to Farah Khan and Sajid Khan.<br />

<strong>5. Shammi Aunty</strong><br />
She was born as Nargis Rabadi, but has always been lovingly called as Shammi Aunty. Starting her career as a supporting actress in Begum Para and Sheikh Mukhtar starrer Ustad Pedro, she has completed more than 6 decades in the industry. She was last seen as Boman Irani’s grandmother in <em>Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi</em>.<br />

<strong>6. Tanaaz and Bhakhtyar Irani</strong><br />
The celebrity couple is known for showing some dancing moves in the celebrity dance show <em>Nach Baliye</em>. Their stint in the third season of the popular show <em>Bigg Boss</em> made them a household name, with Bhaktyar Irani reaching in the final four. The couple will soon make a comeback on the television screen, with a new show <em>Badi Door Se Aaye Hai </em>by Hatsoff Productions. The show goes on air on 9th of June, on SAB TV. Delnaaz Irani is the sister of Bhakhtyar and is a famous <keyword id="18579" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="TV-artist">TV artist</keyword> herself, last seen in Sony TV’s <em>Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara</em>.<br />

<ul class="summary-list"><li>On Monday night, Jon Stewart presented a solution to the Gaza conflict.</li><li>It includes the creation of a NATO for the Middle East.</li></ul><p>On his Monday-night show, Jon Stewart outlined his idea for a solution to the Gaza conflict.</p><p>First, with his signature dry humor, he suggested a scaled-up version of a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/seeds-of-peace-camp-for-isreali-palestinians-in-maine/">2014 event in Maine</a> that involved 95 Israeli and Palestinian teens trading "rockets for rackets" at a summer-camp-style gathering.</p><p>Second, Stewart, said, "Let's just ask God."</p><p>"It's his house," he added. "He's the one who started all this. Just ask God. He can tell us who is right. Is it the Jews? Is it the Muslims? Is it the Zoroastrians?"</p><p>But Stewart then got serious and outlined his proposal for ending the violence in Gaza.</p><p>"Starting now, no preconditions, no earned trust, no partners for peace," Stewart said. "Israel stops bombing. Hamas releases the hostages. The Arab countries who claim Palestine is their top priority come in and form a demilitarized zone between Israel and a free Palestinian state."</p><p>This NATO-like organization would involve Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan guaranteeing "security for both sides," Stewart said. He dubbed the proposed organization "METO" — for "Middle East Treaty Organization" — and said both the name and his proposed pronunciation, which sounds like "me too," could be workshopped further.</p><p>"Obviously, I've not worked out the exact verbiage, but anything is better than" the current "cycle," he said.</p><p>Stewart is not the first to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-06-29/a-middle-eastern-nato-not-gonna-happen">suggest a NATO-style organization in the Middle East</a>, but the idea has thus far failed to gain traction.</p><p>The <a target="_blank" href="https://2001-2009.state.gov/r/pa/ho/time/lw/98683.htm">US-led Baghdad Pact</a> in 1955 did not bring about lasting unity in the region, and the 2002 Arab League resolution also failed. Attempts by leaders such as President Donald Trump to create an <a target="_blank" href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-gulf-alliance/trump-seeks-to-revive-arab-nato-to-confront-iran-idUSKBN1KH2IK/">Arab NATO</a> — and unite Middle Eastern nations with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-06-29/a-middle-eastern-nato-not-gonna-happen?embedded-checkout=true">deeply conflicting security goals and aims</a> — have fallen flat.</p><p>During his monologue, "The Daily Show" host called out various major parties, from Israel and Hamas to the US, the UN, and other countries in the Middle East, saying they did not have a feasible solution to the violence.</p><p>"The status-quo cycle of provocation and retribution is predicated on some idea that one of these groups is going to go away. And they are not," Stewart said.</p><p>"If we want a safe and free Israel and a safe and free Palestine, we have to recognize that reality. And I know that there is a twisted and much-contested history in the region that has brought us to this point. But we are at this point," Stewart said.</p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Ubisoft has unveiled a new "Prince of Persia," a popular video game first released in 1989.</li><li>And for the first time in its three-decade history, the Prince of Persia will speak Farsi. </li></ul><p><a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/13-classic-video-games-you-can-play-right-now-in-your-web-browser/slidelist/51048437.cms">"Prince of Persia"</a> released its first major installment in nearly 14 years and its first title since it was first unveiled in 1989 in which the characters will actually speak Farsi.</p><p>Ubisoft released "Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown" on Thursday for the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-top-50-video-games-of-all-time--ranked-2014-11">Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox, and PC</a>.</p><p>This latest verion is the first in the series to be developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, a subsidiary of Ubisoft, according to the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-67946084">BBC</a>.</p><p>The game's designer, Mounir Radi, told the outlet that the developers wanted to "depict and to respect Persia and Iran" in the gameplay.</p><p>"It was natural for us to say, 'if we are going into this culture, we have to be true to this culture, we have to do this,'" Radi told the BBC.</p><p>The game's developers told the BBC that it has several updates to make it appealing to modern gamers, such as heightened graphics inspired by the blockbuster animated film <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/spiderman-spider-man-into-spider-verse-animated-frame-rate-marvel-stan-lee-2019-2">"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse</a>."</p><p>Among the updates for the new version was an increased effort to add elements like language and history that made the game more authentic to the region it depicts, producer Abdelhak Elguess told the BBC.</p><p>In pne example, Elguess said the developers wove elements of Zoroastrianism — a religion founded in what is now Iran — into the game, BBC reported.</p><p>"We have so many people from Persian cultures that are very happy," Elguess said.</p><p>One user on Reddit said they were glad Ubisoft added a dub option in Farsi, but were surprised because the company did not add a Greek option in "Assassins Creed: Odyssey," which notably <a target="_blank" href="https://steamcommunity.com/app/812140/discussions/0/1639789306554727044/?ctp=2">attracted controversy over its depiction of ancient Greeks as racially diverse</a>.</p><p>"This is a necessity because just imagine there is a video game set in USA. And they decided not to add English language support," the post says. "This is the same. And Ubisoft did this for decades."</p><p>Another Reddit user said under the same post that the option to use Persian dialogue in the game made him "finally feel seen" by others in the gaming community.</p>

The 'Prince of Persia' will speak Persian for the first time in 34 years

<ul class="summary-list"><li>The swastika is now an infamous sign of hatred, extremism, and genocide. </li><li>But it has a long history and has been used by cultures worldwide to signify good fortune and luck. </li></ul><p>Last week, historians in Denmark announced they had discovered<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/a-golden-swastika-disc-oldest-known-reference-odin-valhalla-2023-3?r=US&amp;IR=T"> the oldest evidence of people worshipping the Norse god of war and death, Odin.</a></p><p>Next to the portrait of Odin was a small swastika-like sign, once a signifier of peace, wealth, and fortune.</p><p>Today, the swastika is seen by many as a symbol of hatred, extremism, and danger. But it has a long and diverse history that stretches way beyond its cruel co-option by Adolf Hitler and the German Nazi party a century ago.</p><h2>The origins of the swastika</h2><p>The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit word svastika, which translates to "good fortune" or "wellbeing."</p><p>The oldest known use of the swastika is seen on a 15,000-year-old mammoth ivory bird statue discovered in 1908 by Ukrainian scientist Federik Volkov.</p><p>On the chest of the bird, held in The National Museum of the History of Ukraine, Kyiv, is an engraving of joined-up swastikas, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20210816-the-ancient-symbol-that-was-hijacked-by-evil" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to the BBC.</a> The statue was discovered alongside a range of "phallic objects," suggesting the swastika was used as a good luck symbol to invite fertility.</p><h2>The swastika in Asia</h2><p>Today, the swastika is still widely used in a number of Indian religions.</p><p>In Jainism, the swastika represents the four states of existence: Heavenly beings, Human beings, Hellish beings, and subhuman life.</p><p>In the Zoroastrian faith, one of the world's oldest religions, the four prongs of the swastika represent water, fire, air, and earth.</p><p>And in Buddhism, the sign is used to represent Buddha's footsteps, known as manji.</p><div type="image" title="Rangoli art on Diwali festival, India" height="3594" width="4792" msid="98756162" hostid="261"></div><p>Across India, the symbol is seen on shop doors, vehicles, food packaging, and at festivals, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/religion-germany-race-and-ethnicity-europe-2c28b5892381cd4148dfde5bc4fbb004" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to AP</a>.</p><p>It has also been adopted in other parts of Asia. In China, the symbol is known aswàn and was declared the "source of all good fortune" by Empress Wu in 693. The use of the swastika alongside a wish multiplies that wish 10,000 times, according to the <a href="https://pacificasiamuseum.usc.edu/exhibitions/past/exhibitions-at-usc-pam-prior-to-2011/rank-and-style-power-dressing-in-imperial-china/index-to-resources/symbols/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pacific Asia Museum.</a></p><h2>Swastika in Europe</h2><p>Worshipers of the Norse religion used the swastika symbol as early as 401 AD.</p><p>Most commonly, the symbol is seen next to depictions of Thor, the Norse god of thunder, the sky, and agriculture. It is also seen next to his father, Odin.</p><p>But it wasn't just Nordic people that were using the swastika. The symbol is known to have been used by Celts, Druids, and Vikings.</p><p>US art director Steven Heller, author of "Swastika: Symbol Beyond Redemption?" told the BBC that the swastika was used in Europe to manifest good luck until the early 20th century. "The sign was used in many ways before Hitler adapted it. A sign of good fortune, fertility, happiness, Sun, and it was given spiritual import as well as commercial value when it was used with or as a brand or logo," said Heller.</p><div type="image" title="An old bottle of Carlsberg with a swastika logo" height="2591" width="3455" msid="98756163" hostid="261"></div><p>Less than 100 years ago, many companies used the symbol in their branding. The beer company Carlsberg had it on its logo, as did the Finnish Air Force and even the British Boy Scouts.</p><p>However, that all started to change in the 1920s.</p><h2>Co-opted by the Nazis</h2><p>Some researchers believe that people of Aryan culture used the symbol as a sign of luck and prosperity. </p><p>Aryanism is often linked to a belief in racial purity, but "Aryans" were originally  Indo-European or Indo-Germanic people who settled throughout India, Iran (then known as Persia), and Europe, according to the United States Holocaust Museum. </p><p>The classification of Aryanism was often used to refer to the shared languages used within the culture, but later it shifted to be used as a racial categorization.</p><p>The BBC reports that the similarity in these languages to German is thought to have influenced Hitler's belief that the Aryans – especially those from India – and Germans had a "pure" lineage. </p><p>Another theory is that Hitler would have simply seen the symbol repeatedly growing up. </p><p>After Hitler's Nazi Party chose the swastika as its official symbol in 1920, it slowly became identified with racial purity, extremism, and totalitarian terror, a long way from its roots as an emblem of good fortune. </p><p>When the Nazi Party took power over Germany in 1933, Hitler decreed that the German state flag had to be flown alongside the now-infamous red flag that boasts a huge black swastika.</p><p>Today, the once-innocent swastika is now considered an incarnation of evil representing genocide, gas chambers, and the millions murdered in the Holocaust.</p><p>But some are trying to change that. In the end, it's how a symbol affects you visually and emotionally. For many, it creates a visceral impact, and that's a fact."</p>

It (oxygen) gets recycled. Fish in the water will get more oxygen. They also benefit from bird droppings. Once bustling meeting places where everyone from taxi-drivers to businessmen could eat together, Irani cafés are now a dying industry with few remaining today.</p><p>"Irani cafés were a vehicle for Muslims, Hindus, and Christians to eat at the table together," Shamil told You Can Now magazine in January 2016. <p class="p1">As ISIS terrorizes northern Iraq and Kurdistan, they've picked out one group in particular to attack: the Yazidis.</p>
<p class="p1">The Yazidis are a small Kurdish minority who belong to a religion that blends Sufism, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Zoroastrianism. </p>
<p class="p1">The Islamic State sees Yazidis as devil-worshippers and have made it their mission to force them to convert or be killed.</p>
<p class="p1"><span>After ISIS began to advance towards Yazidi towns in Iraq's north</span>, many <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/this-yazidi-community-northern-iraq-2014-8">fled their homes into the nearby mountains</a>. As many as 70,000 Yazidis have been trapped on Mount Sinjar for the past week.  </p>
<h3 class="p1"><span></span>As ISIS has pushed closer to Yazidi positions on Mount Sinjar, the Yazidis have been forced to take their chances with a dangerous route and flee towards the Syrian border.</h3>
<h3>Over the weekend, Syrian Kurds <a href="http://www.smh.com.au/world/kurds-open-escape-route-for-some-trapped-yazidis-20140810-102e92.html">successfully carved out an escape route for those trapped on Mount Sinjar to make it into Syria</a>, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
