She also had a small role in the 1964 story Marco Polo. She only returned to India in the 1990s, where she continued to act and went on to win the Padma Shri in 1998 and the Padma Bhushan in 2002. Google Doodle celebrates Zohra Sehgal — Everyone's favourite dadi, an Indian royal and Doctor Who star

Today two of the living legends of Indian cinema, <keyword id="1687" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dilip-Kumar">Dilip Kumar</keyword> and Amitabh Bachchan, were felicitated with Padma Vibhushan awards, the second highest civilian honour of India. 
 
Dilip Kumar, who is unwell these days, could not attend the award ceremony but Amitabh Bachchan was there and looked dapper in a black bandgala. Even his son Abhishek Bachchan and maternal grandson Agastya Nanda were wearing black bandgala, and came across as the close-knit family that they are. 
 
Also present from the Bachchan family were his wife Jaya Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and daughter Shweta Nanda with husband Nikhil Nanda. 
 
The megastar had tweeted about the ceremony a day before, after he attended the rehearsals.

One thing to be noted is that Amitabh Bachchan now holds all three Padma Awards, <keyword id="25105" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Padma-Shri">Padma Shri</keyword> (1984), <keyword id="100507" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Padma-Bhushan">Padma Bhushan</keyword> (2001), and now Padma Vibhushan. Amitabh Bachchan now holds all three Padma Awards

During the presidential debate on Tuesday night between him and Democratic Party presidential candidate Joe Biden, they both sparred on the extent of the deaths caused by the pandemic. Biden said that the 200,000 people who died of the coronavirus were 20 per cent of the global death toll of 1 million while the US population is only 4 per cent of the world. Trump shot back, aceWhen you talk about numbers you know how many people died in China? You know how many people died in Russia? You don't know how many people died in India. They don't give you a straight count." Trump said that the pandemic was China's fault, but Biden tried to deflect China's role wanting to pin the blame for its ravages on Trump. The first debate was held in Cleveland was about domestic issues and there were no international questions on the agenda set out Chris Wallace of Fox News, who was the moderator for the debate. The mention of India and the two other countries brought a passing reference to foreign countries. Earlier in his news conferences, he has mentioned India's record of conducting Covid-19 tests as the second-best in the world and only behind the US. US President Donald Trump clubs India with China and Russia — claims they don't give a 'straight count' on COVID-19 death toll

<keyword id="6360409" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nasa">NASA</keyword> and <keyword id="6360701" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="spacex">SpaceX</keyword> now are targeting October 31 for the launch of the agency's SpaceX Crew-1 mission with astronauts to the International Space Station. The US space agency had earlier targeted October 23 for the launch of the mission which comes after the SpaceX Demo-2 test flight which flew astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the space station. The new target date which falls on Halloween will deconflict the Crew-1 launch and arrival from upcoming Soyuz launch and landing operations, NASA said on Monday. While a Soyuz capsule launch is scheduled for October 14, a Soyuz departure from space station is set to take place on October 21. NASA said the additional time is needed to ensure closure of all open work, both on the ground and aboard the station, ahead of the Crew-1 arrival. The Crew-1 mission will take astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shannon Walker of NASA and Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to the station on the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. The launch will be the first time an international crew will fly aboard a NASA-certified, commercially-owned and operated American rocket and spacecraft from American soil. Following the launch, the Crew-1 astronauts are scheduled to arrive at the space station for a six-month science mission aboard the orbiting laboratory. NASA said it is in the final stages of the data reviews needed ahead of certification following the agency's SpaceX Demo-2 test flight. SpaceX and NASA's next manned mission is set to take off on Halloween

Twitter has appointed ex-IBM executive <keyword id="10018066" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="rinki-sethi">Rinki Sethi</keyword> as new Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Sethi who worked at IBM as Vice President, Information Security, last served at Rubrik, the Cloud data management company as CISO. "I'm thrilled to welcome @rinkisethi as the new CISO of @twitter. An inspiring and experienced leader, Rinki comes to us via Rubrik, IBM and Palo Alto Networks," Nick Tornow, Platform Lead at Twitter, said late on Monday. Twitter hires ex-IBM Rinki Sethi as its new VP and Chief Information Security Officer

In an address at a conference, Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria said the <keyword id="15141" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> has responded to the situation with rapidity and is fully resolved to counter any "misadventure" in the region. "The present security scenario along our northern frontiers is at an uneasy no war no peace status. Our defence forces are prepared for any eventuality as you are aware," the Chief of Air Staff said. Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria said the recent induction of Rafale jets along with previous acquisitions of C-17 Globemaster aircraft as well as Chinook and Apache helicopters have provided the IAF with substantial tactical and strategic capability enhancement. "Air power will be a crucial enabler in our victory in any future conflict. It is, therefore, imperative that IAF obtains and maintains technological edge over our adversaries," he said at the conference on energising the Indian aerospace industry. Five French-made multi-role Rafale fighter jets were inducted into the IAF on September 10. The fleet has been carrying out sorties in eastern Ladakh in the last couple of weeks. India-China border at 'no war no peace' status, says IAF chief

<keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> on Tuesday announced a collaboration with <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> on an end-to-end, Cloud-based private 5G network solution to drive innovation that lowers the barrier to entry for deployment of private 5G networks in enterprises. Through a Cloud-based approach to the market, the companies said they aim to achieve greater cost efficiencies in 5G deployments. Samsung is a pioneer in the successful delivery of 5G end-to-end solutions ranging from chipset, radio and core network. "We're excited to be working with Microsoft to help enterprises transform the way they operate through next-generation communications," said Wonil Roh, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Product Strategy, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. "Combining Samsung's virtualised 5G solutions and Microsoft Azure cloud, we look forward to delivering a best-in-class 5G solution that advances opportunities in the private network sector". Samsung brings in Microsoft to help expand enterprise 5G deployment

Warning Beijing against advancing its untenable unilateral interpretation, India on Tuesday said that it has never accepted the 1959 definition of the <keyword id="49399" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Line-of-Actual-Control">Line of Actual Control</keyword> (LAC) with China. In response to queries on a recent media report quoting a Chinese Foreign Ministry statement regarding China's position on the LAC, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Anurag Srivastava, said, "India has never accepted the so-called unilaterally defined 1959 Line of Actual Control (LAC). This position has been consistent and well known, including to the Chinese side." Under various bilateral agreements, including the 1993 Agreement on Maintenance of Peace and Tranquility along the LAC, the 1996 Agreement on Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) in the military field, the 2005 Protocol on Implementation of CBMs, the 2005 Agreement on Political Parameters and Guiding Principles for Settlement of the India-China Boundary Question, both India and China have committed to clarification and confirmation of the LAC to reach a common understanding of the alignment of the LAC. In fact, the two sides had engaged in an exercise to clarify and confirm the LAC up to 2003, but this process could not proceed further as the Chinese side did not show willingness to pursue it, Srivastava said. "Therefore, the insistence now of the Chinese side that there is only one LAC is contrary to the solemn commitments made by China in these agreements," he said. The Indian side, Srivastava said, has always respected and abided by the LAC. As Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated in the Parliament recently, "It is the Chinese side, which by its attempts to transgress the LAC in various parts of the Western Sector, has tried to unilaterally alter the status quo." The spokesperson said that in the last few months, the Chinese side has repeatedly affirmed that the current situation in the border areas should be resolved in accordance with the agreements signed between the two countries. In the agreement reached between the External Affairs Minister and his Chinese counterpart on September 10, the Chinese side had reiterated its commitment to abide by all the existing agreements. Srivastava said that India expects "the Chinese side will sincerely and faithfully abide by all the agreements and understandings in their entirety and refrain from advancing an untenable unilateral interpretation of the LAC." India warns China that it has never accepted 1959 definition of LAC

Keeping the upcoming festive season and growing online frauds in mind, <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> on Tuesday announced a partnership with <keyword id="72592" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bajaj-Allianz">Bajaj Allianz</keyword> General Insurance Company to offer ‘Digital Suraksha Group Insurance for customers in the country. The "Digital Suraksha Group Insurance" policy will cover financial losses caused by various kinds of online frauds and cyber attacks that might occur during digital transactions. The customers can choose for a one-year cover at premiums as low as Rs 183 for a cover of Rs 50,000, Rs 312 for Rs 1 lakh, and Rs 561 for Rs 2 lakh for a 12-months tenure, with covers also extending up to Rs 10 lakh. "As the festive season nears, we want to ensure that the customers' online shopping experience, across any digital medium, is devoid of stress and apprehensions," said Ranjith Boyanapalli, Head, Fintech and Payments Group, Flipkart. The policy can be availed while buying certain models of mobiles, laptops, tablets, and audio devices on Flipkart. The insurance compensates for direct financial loss (up to the sum insured) due to unauthorised digital financial transactions as a result of identity theft arising out of cyber attacks, phishing/spoofing and SIM-jacking. The policy covers online transactions for debit cards, credit card, digital wallets, UPI/Internet banking (All bank accounts, credit and debit cards and mobile wallets), the company said in a statement. "With this Digital Suraksha Group Insurance introduced on Flipkart's platform, at less than 50 paise per day, you can protect yourself against the financial risk of getting defrauded online," said Tapan Singhel, MD and CEO, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance. The claim is admissible if a loss of funds is reported within 90 days of the occurrence and multiple claims/incidents are covered up to the sum insured. The policy offers worldwide cover and offers protection while travelling international. "During this Covid-19 era, as you shop online, this insurance will provide coverage against various cyber threats, thus making your online experience worry-free," Singhel said. <ul><li>The Mars <keyword id="9577365" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="perseverance-rover">Perseverance Rover</keyword> is currently on its way to the Red Planet scheduled to land on February 21. </li><li>The rover is carrying laser-reflecting mirrors on board, similar to the ones already deployed on the Moon, in hopes of making future landings on Mars easier. </li><li>The retroreflector being placed by Perseverance is so small that it can fit in the palm of your hand whereas some of the array’s on the Moon are as big as the average computer monitor. </li></ul>The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s brand-new Mars Perseverance Rover is currently on its way to the Red Planet. And, the landing that’s to ensue will not be easy. Perseverance will rely on the Terrain-Relative Navigation (TRN) system. Perseverance is <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/jpl/nasas-new-mars-rover-is-ready-for-space-lasers">carrying laser-reflecting mirrors</a> — officially called the Laser Retroreflector Array (LaRA) — on board. Once deployed, they act as a series of reference points to a check on the performance of the TRN systems, maybe even make it more accurate. After the palm-sized LaRA is placed on Mars, the InSight lander is also carrying the laser retroreflector for Insight (LaRRI), and another will be aboard the ExoMars rover rescheduled to launch in 2022 in a collaboration between NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA). <div type="image" title="mars rover retroreflector2" msid="78386422" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Laser Retroreflector for InSight (LaRRI) is the copper-colored half-dome on the deck of NASA&amp;#39;s InSight lander&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> "Laser retroreflectors are shiny, pointlike position markers," said Simone Dell'Agnello, who led development of all three retroreflectors. "Because they're simple and maintenance-free, they can work for decades," he added. Mirrors on the Moon have already told us a lot The Apollo astronauts already placed the first of these on the Moon. The first generation was mere retroreflectors made up of many tiny mirrors. Scientists beamed lasers up at the Moon, and the time it took for the light to reflect helped with precise measurements of the Moon’s orbit, its shape, and how it changed until the influence of the Earth’s gravitational pull. <div type="image" title="mars rover retroreflector moon" msid="78386441" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Laser Ranging Retro-Reflector (LR3), which the Apollo 14 astronauts deployed on the Moon during their lunar surface extravehicular activity&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> With laser <keyword id="10022723" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="reflectors-on-mars">reflectors on Mars</keyword>, scientists hope to continue these experiments on the Red Planet. “Laser ranging could open up new kinds of Mars exploration,” said Dell’Agnello. However, LaRA is much smaller than the retroreflectors on the Moon. Those were around the same size as a typical computer monitor, while LaRA can fit in the palm of your hand. And the beams reflected from the Moon have been known to become faint as they travel through the Earth’s atmosphere. Laser beams bounced off of LaRA would travel a much shorter distance. Rather than travelling the entire distance between Earth and the Moon, these beams would only have to reflect to the future Mars orbiter, which would come equipped with an appropriate laser.
