ZEE5 launches a new campaign with Sara Ali Khan and Amol Parashar

Ever since its release, <keyword id="566945" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zindagi">Zindagi</keyword> channel has received love of one and all. Right from the oh-so-romantic <keyword id="2343597" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zindagi-Gulzar-Hai">Zindagi Gulzar hai</keyword> to the oh-so-funny <keyword id="2555743" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Yeh-Shaadi-Nahin-Ho-Sakti">Yeh Shaadi Nahin Ho Sakti</keyword>, Indian audiences are appreciating each and every show on the channel. 
 
Pakistani shows generally last for 6-7 months on Pakistan TV as they telecast them weekly, but because Zindagi runs them as daily soaps, they get over within a month—leaving the audience wanting for more. 
 
Here are three other shows that will be aired next on Zindagi. 
 
1. <keyword id="2555745" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tere-Ishq-Mein">Tere Ishq Mein</keyword> 
A story of a positive emotion like love and a negative one like greed, Tere Ishq Mein is an unforgettable tale of the heavy price that one ends up paying when they love someone selflessly. It aired in Pakistan in 2007 as Man-O-Salwa, and is based on a popular novel of the same name. The author of the novel is Umera Ahmed, who also penned down Zindagi Gulzar Hai. This novel was later made into a hit show of the same name, starring Fawad Afzal Khan and <keyword id="2358879" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sanam-Saeed">Sanam Saeed</keyword>, and was the first serial that Zindagi telecasted. The serial begins tonight at 10:15 PM, making Kitni Girhain Baaki Hain into a weekly show (will get telecast on Sundays only). 
 
2. <keyword id="6399786" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Humsafar">Humsafar</keyword> 
Now this is something that Fawad Afzal Khan’s have been waiting for long, especially after his character of Zaroon Junaid in Zindagi Gulazar Hai took the whole country, and especially girls, by storm. One of the highest-rated dramas of Pakistan, the show revolves around two people who fall in love after marriage. Starring Fawad and <keyword id="701143" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahira-Khan">Mahira Khan</keyword>, the hit show was telecast in Pakistan from September 2011 to March 2012, and is based on a novel by the same name, written by Farhat Ishtiaq. The serial would begin from tomorrow 8 PM and would replace Mera Naseeb, which stars Sanam Saeed and <keyword id="2539023" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Syra-Yousuf">Syra Yousuf</keyword>. 
 
3. <keyword id="2555746" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dhoop-Chhaon">Dhoop Chhaon</keyword> Bringing back <keyword id="2555742" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sanam-Baloch">Sanam Baloch</keyword> to Indian television, this serial was telecast in Pakistan as Durr-e-Shehwar from March to June 2012. It follows the journey of Durr-e-Shehwar, a young lady who comes over enough turbulence only to find her daughter standing on similar crossroads later in life. The show stars Sanam Baloch as the young Durr-e-Shehwar and <keyword id="1866540" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samina-Peerzada">Samina Peerzada</keyword>, last seen in Mera Naseeb, as the elder Durr-e-Shehwar. The show’s name has most probably been changed to suit the Indian audience. The date of telecast has not been decided yet, and the show would most likely replace Yeh Shaadi Nahin Ho Sakti once the family comedy series ends in the coming few days.

Fawad Khan Is Back With Humsafar. And Then There Are Other Upcoming Shows On Zindagi

<ul><li><keyword id="2739840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hotstar">Hotstar</keyword>, India’s largest OTT player, is wooing India by giving what it loves the most: free content. </li><li>The OTT platform announced that it will provide high quality content to its Hindi audience without any charge. </li><li>With the new campaign ‘Hotstar ka vaada, free entertainment sabse zyada’, Hotstar says it is targeting the Tier II and Tier III cities which have been “fueling the growth of online video consumption in India.” </li></ul>Hotstar, India’s largest OTT player, already has 60% market share but it wants more. So it is wooing Indians, especially those in smaller cities and towns, a lot more free content. The bar is raised further for the likes of <keyword id="128682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Netflix">Netflix</keyword> and <keyword id="18635" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> that are dwarfed in competition. The move is further timed well, just before the beginning of the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that is a big money churner and a hot favourite in Indian drawing rooms. Presently, Hotstar’s free content library includes several movies like Chhichhore, Mission Mangal, Star Plus soap operas like <keyword id="83396" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yeh-Rishta-Kya-Kehlata-Hai">Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai</keyword>, Nazar, <keyword id="381946" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kasauti-Zindagi-Kay">Kasauti Zindagi Kay</keyword> and shows from Star Bharat like Savdhaan India along with News. Getting people away from TV With the new campaign, Hotstar says it is targeting the Tier-II and Tier-III cities which have been “fueling the growth of online video consumption in India.” It aims to get all those people on board who have lost access to paid channels after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India imposed new tariffs. While one set of the family may be hooked to these soaps, those within the same family who are interested in cricket may pay for the subscription. It is bad news for television channels too as it may lead to migration from traditional TV subscriptions to OTT. “The next wave of growth for OTT platforms will come from smaller cities as adoption picks up. In fact, non-metros today outstrip metros in terms of video consumption. Through this campaign, our endeavor is to engage with our audiences further in Hindi-speaking markets and take digital video consumption to new frontiers,” said Varun Narang, Chief Product Officer, Hotstar. Going all out Not just that, Hotstar is also planning to opt for door-to-door marketing in Tier-II and Tier-III cities using different mediums of marketing including billboard to advertise about their free library. The campaign comes a week after Netflix removed free first month trial for their consumers. It is now offering a new plan to select new subscribers in India with the first month at ₹5. The offer is only available as an introductory offer to select new subscribers and not for existing users or anyone who is signing up again for premium subscription. India is all set to witness a tough battle in the over-crowded OTT space this year. Hotstar, the leader of the OTT space, plans to break down its own record of 18.6 million concurrent viewers during the IPL season. It has also set aside ₹120 crore to make seven originals across languages. Whereas, Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos are upping their game by investing millions of dollars in originals. Hotstar is adding to 'free' content — making life more difficult for Netflix, Amazon and the likes

If you thought that you had seen all that was to be seen in the General Entertainment (<keyword id="264938" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="GEC">GEC</keyword>) space, then you are in for a surprise. Zee is planning to launch a new channel – Zindagi , which will start airing from June 23, 2014. 
 
It kicks off with the collection of shows from across the border. At the onset, it will have six to seven shows that have relatable stories and are set in Pakistan. Zee is also emphasizing on the fact that these shows have not been shot in high-profiles sets, but at the real locations. 
 
Currently, the channel has content only from Pakistan but the channel plans to add serials from Latin America and Egypt to this kitty really soon. 
 
Zee Entertainment Enterprise Limited (ZEEL) is spending Rs 80 to 100 Crores in the marketing of this channel alone. Speaking with Business Insider India, Akash Chawla, Marketing Head Nation Channel, Zeel shared, “We will be adopting a dual revenue model for this channel, which will entail premium subscription and premium advertising”. However, at the on start the channel will be available as a part of the basic pack, so that the audience gets to sample the content. 
 In addition, <keyword id="2297001" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zee-Zindagi">Zee Zindagi</keyword> is the first Hindi language channel to get a national launch and the company plans to take it to international markets as well. 
 
The channel is looking at targeting the progressive audience that is looking for relatable content. 
 
Bharat Ranga, Chief Content and Creative officer, ZEEL, said, “Backed by our dual revenue model, we should be able to break even in three years, but going forward, we would like to make more original content”. 
 
Zee already has three channels in the GEC space, Zee TV, Zee Anmol and Zee Smile. So with the launch of yet another GEC, will they not cannibalise their own market share? Ranga does not feel that will be the case. He points out, “We had given this concept a due thought. As we go forward, fragmentation on the space is bound to happen, so we thought of being the leader in the space of fragmentation”. 
 
To this, Chawla adds, “Before the launch of Zee Anmol, the market share of Zee TV was 12.8%, now it is at 14.5% while Zee Anmol has a market share of 4.5 to 5%. Similarly, Zee Cinema enjoyed a market share of 27.5% before the launch of &amp;Pictures and now both of them combined have a market share of 36.5%”. 
 
Overall, with Zee Zindagi, we feel that Zee is taking a brave move but only time can tell whether it will be able to get another slice from the GEC pie or whether it will fall flat of its face.

Zee To Launch Another GEC “Zindagi”, Earmarks 100 Cr Marketing Budget For The Same

<keyword id="566945" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zindagi">Zindagi</keyword>, the channel launched by Zee group to air serials from around the world, has been gaining immense popularity from the Indian audience, maybe because the simple and straight to the point way of telling the stories in these Pakistani serials is a welcome change from the otherwise suffocating, never-ending Indian shows. 
 
However, one thing that differentiates Indian serials from Pakistani ones is the standard of measuring their success. While Indian audience is used to years and years of these unending sagas, with innumerable leaps and thousands of episodes, our Pakistani friends are shown just a fraction against that standard. 
 
<keyword id="2343597" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zindagi-Gulzar-Hai">Zindagi Gulzar Hai</keyword> and <keyword id="2343596" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aunn-Zara">Aunn Zara</keyword>, two of Pakistan’s highest rated serials were the first ones to be selected for being aired for the Indian audience on Zindagi. While in Pakistan, these serials enjoyed a weekly run and therefore ran for a successful 5-6 months; however, they have been aired everyday in India. 
 
This means that they are about to end soon. 
 
Aunn Zara has already completed its run and would air the last episode tonight while Zindagi Gulzar Hai would end in another 10 days. 
 
The question that is irking Indian viewers, who are already sad that these shows are ending given the bad habits of having serials running for years, is about the new shows that would be airing after these favourites. 
 
While <keyword id="2415131" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Noorpur-Ki-Rani">Noorpur Ki Rani</keyword> is all set to replace Aunn Zara at the 8:55 pm slot, Maat would most probably be the show that will take the prime slot of 8 pm. 
 
The trailers of these shows are already doing the rounds in-between the serials on Zindagi. 
 
Noorpur Ki Rani was originally aired from April to October 2009. It was penned by Samira Fazal and was directed by Haissam Hussain. Based on the English novel Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, this serial stars Mahnoor Baloch and Noman Ijaz in lead roles. 
 
Maat, on the other hand, ran from September 2011 to February 2012. It has been written by reputed author and screenwriter <keyword id="2415128" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Umera-Ahmed">Umera Ahmed</keyword>, who is also the writer of Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The famous show was directed by Amna Nawaz Khan. 
 
However, as these serials have around 25 episodes, this means we would soon be doing a similar story for upcoming serials. 
 
As far as other two shows are concerned, Kash Mein Teri Beti Na Hoti has more than 200 episodes left, and Kitni Girhain Baqi Hain too has many episodes, as it is still being aired in Pakistan after starting in March 2011.

Gear Up For Two New Shows On Zindagi

Indian television always brings to its viewers some promising stories, some of which manage to strike a chord while others get lost in the heap of similar looking plots. 
 
In the coming weeks, you would be presented three different stories on three different channels. All the soaps have promising trailers and different storylines. What remains to be watched is what would be the factor that would determine the success of these serials. Also, it would be interesting to know if these shows would be able to break the magic spell that Zindagi has cast over the Indian audience. 
Here are some insider details about these upcoming shows: 
 
Laut Aao Trisha This <keyword id="3366456" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Life-OK">Life OK</keyword> show is produced by Nandita Mehra and Bhairavi Raichuda’s production house that goes by the name of 24 Frames and had earlier produced Chhal — Sheh Aur Maat. This serial is set to break some norms of Indian television. The show would be a social thriller woven around a mother’s quest to find her teenage daughter who goes missing. The show would, for the first time on Indian television, focus on incest, or in-family crimes as we call it. The plot is woven around a Spanish telenovela Dónde está Elisa. The show also marks the comeback of Maine Pyar Kiya fame Bhagyashree, and has Rajeshwari Sachdev Badola, <keyword id="806844" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jai-Kalra">Jai Kalra</keyword> (last seen in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain) and Eijaz Khan in other roles. The serial would be aired from 21st July at 10 PM. 
 
Now coming to the inside details, we have heard that Laut Aao Trisha was first titled 'Missing' and was supposed to air on Star Plus. However, the recent success of Life Ok, and that too without any typical family drama, proved to be the decision maker for the fate of this show. 
 
Jamai Raja The <keyword id="6462633" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zee-Tv">Zee Tv</keyword> show is different in terms of role reversal. Yes, you read it right. Up till today, we were shown various daughters-in-law taking it upon themselves to unite and hold together their new homes. However, in this show, we would be seeing <keyword id="146031" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ravi-Dubey">Ravi Dubey</keyword> playing a dutiful son-in-law who would work his way into strengthening the ties between his wife and his in-laws. Different concept, experienced cast like Ravi Dubey, Nia Sharma, Achint Kaur and Delnaz Irani, and a prime slot, this all would make Jamai Raja a must watch. The show will begin from 4th August at 8:30 PM. 
 Now coming to the inside details, this show is the first television production venture of <keyword id="2823" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar">Akshay Kumar</keyword>, who has hit gold with producing movies under his banner Hari Om Productions. He would be producing Jamai Raja under Grazing Goat productions, in collaboration with <keyword id="193280" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ashwini-Yardi">Ashwini Yardi</keyword>. 
 
Shastri Sisters The <keyword id="35780" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="colors">Colors</keyword> drama would be focusing on the relationship of four sisters as they move from Kanpur to Delhi. Although it has not been made yet, but still the storyline is not fresh, as we have seen some shows before as well, like Amanat, Radha Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, Shubh Vivah and Kasamh Se, that focused on 3-4 sisters and sometimes a single parent, and the closeness they share with each other. However, the fact that the show is based in Delhi can be a welcome change for the audience. The show is produced by Shakuntalam Telefilms, and stars Neha Pednekar, Ishita Ganguly, <keyword id="2226694" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sonal-Vengurlekar">Sonal Vengurlekar</keyword> and Pragati Chourasiya in the lead roles. The male leads are yet to be announced. The show will begin from 21st July at 7 PM. 
 
Now coming to the inside details, it seems like the recent success of Life Ok in terms of the number one channel has stirred something inside the Colors’ office. The channel is reported to have undertaken a 360-degree integrated marketing campaign to promote Shastri Sisters across various media like cable, radio, OOH, in-train branding, print and television. Also, the channel has designed a special digital campaign which is being implemented on social media in form of quizzes.

Three New Shows on Indian Television, Which One Would Rule the TRPs?

It seems that the GEC spectrum in India is on an expansion spree. The magic of Zee’s channel <keyword id="566945" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zindagi">Zindagi</keyword> hasn’t even settled yet and we already have a new channel in the making. This time, Sony TV has come up with a new channel, and has named it as Pal, the Hindi word for a moment. 
 <keyword id="135685" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Multi-Screen-Media">Multi Screen Media</keyword>, the company that owns Sony entertainment television and all its sister channels, has made this channel as a tribute to women, and this is evident from the promos of all the shows and the channel itself. 
 "With Sony, we are reaching out to men and women in SEC A, B and C segments in cities with a population of over 1 million (essentially the metros). SAB TV helps us reach people in non-metro markets. With <keyword id="2443105" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sony-Pal">Sony Pal</keyword>, we are targetting women aged between 15 and 34 years from the SEC B, C, D and even E segments. With these three channels, we have pretty much every audience covered by the network," says N P Singh, CEO of MSM India. 
 
Singh has currently refused to divulge the investment made in the channel. Talking of the financial aspects, the channel is presently not having any advertisers or sponsors as of yet. An unofficial statement from MSM says that advertisers are positive regarding the channel but would like to wait till the channel gets some good viewership. 
 
Juhi Chawla, ex Miss India and a popular Bollywood actress, has been roped in as the face of this new channel. She would be seen making appearances in promotional activities and on the channel, and she might even host a show on the channel later. 
 
Monday through Saturday, the channel will air fiction shows for three hours from 7:30 to 10:30 PM, while Sundays will have non-fiction content. Actor-producer Raveena Tandon will be seen hosting a talk show on Sundays, in which only women will participate. 
 
The shows start today from 7:30 PM onwards. The channel would be available across all major multi-system operators and direct-to-home platforms right from the day of its launch.

Sony Pal- A New Channel Aimed At Women

After Zindagi, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has now announced &amp;TV, its another premium entertainment channel. 
 
Synonymous with the spirit of new-age India, &amp;TV signifies a conjunction of aspirations and rootedness, much like the amalgamation of various TV shows that mark their debut with the channel tonight. 
 The first show to be aired would be <keyword id="378933" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Razia-Sultan">Razia Sultan</keyword>, who was the first woman ruler from India. The show has been produced by Swastik Productions and stars Pankhuri Awasthi and Sooraj Thapar in lead roles, who play Razia Sultan and her father Iltutmish, respectively. It would air at 7:30 PM from Monday to Friday. 
 
Next in line is Bhagyalaksmi, a serial from the affluent lanes of Madhya Pradesh. Starring Barkha Singh and Abhishek Malik with Aruna Irani, Rita Bhaduri, Anil Dhawan and Ashita Dhawan Gulabani, the love story would see the clashes of rich and poor, airing at 8 PM from Monday to Friday.

The prime time of 9 PM has been reserved for the flagship show, India Poochega <keyword id="2695296" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sabse-Shaana-Kaun">Sabse Shaana Kaun</keyword>, to be hosted by <keyword id="1671" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shah-Rukh-Khan">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword>. The show is inspired by Who’s Asking, an Israeli game show of Armoza Formats. Both the persons who ask the question and the one who answers would be commoners. The show has been produced by Siddhartha Basu of Big Synergy. 
 At 10, we have <keyword id="75320" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Begusarai">Begusarai</keyword>, produced by Saregama Productions. Based on the lives of land mafias of Bihar, the show has Shweta Tiwari, Vaishnavi Dhanraj, Vishal Aditya Singh and Dheeraj Miglani. The highlight of the show, however, would be veteran actress Sulbha Arya, who is donning a negative role for the first time. 
 Next, the channel has a comedy show in line for its audience. Called <keyword id="2749105" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhabhi-Ji-Ghar-Par-Hain">Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain</keyword>, the show would be based in a middle-class Indian society from Kanpur, and would be focusing on two neighbouring families. Starring Saumya Tandon, Shilpa Shinde, Rohitashv Gaud and Asif Sheikh, the show has been produced by Edit II.
