Indian Cricketer <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/IPL-Auction-Yuvraj-Singh-sold-at-Rs-7-crore-to-Sunrisers-Hyderabad/articleshow/50878881.cms" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">Yuvraj Singh</a>, who runs the charity foundation called <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Yuvraj-Singhs-YouWeCan-invests-in-Rahul-Yadavs-Intelligent-Interfaces/articleshow/50392847.cms" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">YouWeCan</a>, announced that the charity is now venturing into the fast-moving fashion casual wear space, under the label of YWC. As per the plans, YWC will have both offline and online stores. 
 
For this, Singh, who <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Yuvi-means-business-Know-what-is-keeping-the-cricket-star-occupied-off-the-field/articleshow/46835693.cms" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">strictly means business</a>, has entered into a deal with listed apparel maker <keyword id="2381593" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Suditi-Industries">Suditi Industries</keyword>, which has been making apparel for MTV, FC Barcelona and Manchester City FC.

"The brand <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Yuvraj-Singhs-YouWeCan-has-invested-in-a-sports-startup-and-he-is-putting-his-heart-into-it/articleshow/49239910.cms" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">YWC</a> will be focused on premium fashion. Premium celebrity merchandising is a wide open space," Suditi chairman and managing director Pawan Agarwal told ET. 
 
As of now, details of this new fashion line are in the process of being fine-tuned, but from what we know, it will include high-fashion lines for men, women and children. Suditi will be responsible for designing and manufacturing the exclusive range of lifestyle and fashion apparel.

Yuvraj Singh’s 'YouWeCan' will now foray into lifestyle and fashion

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has finally announced the names of the players who would be part of India’s squad for the 2015 World Cup.
 According to a BCCI press release, <keyword id="6354832" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="MS-Dhoni">MS Dhoni</keyword> will lead the 15-member squad in ICC CWC 2015. Other members of the squad are: <keyword id="6354486" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Virat-Kohli">Virat Kohli</keyword> (Vice Captain), Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Stuart Binny, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Md. Shami, Umesh Yadav, and Ishant Sharma. Sadly, senior players like <keyword id="351" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Yuvraj-Singh">Yuvraj Singh</keyword> couldn’t find any place in the team. Earlier in the day, we read reports speculating Yuvraj Singh’s name in the Final 15. This news would be a disheartening for Yuvi’s fans, who were hoping that Yuvi’s recent performance in the Ranji trophy matches—wherein he scored three consecutive centuries—would help him earn a place in the squad. 

	It’s worth noting that Yuvraj Singh was a star performer in the 2011 World Cup and also the man of the series. However, post recovering from cancer, he hasn’t played much of competitive cricket and not even a single ODI in 2014.

Bad News For Yuvi Fans; No Place For Him In India’s Squad  For World Cup 2015

Indian batsman <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Yuvraj+Singh+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Yuvraj Singh</a> is not the one who minces words or hides emotions. On Thursday, Singh made his first century after the <keyword id="43506" type="SPORT" weightage="60" keywordseo="2011-World-Cup">2011 World Cup</keyword> and he was ecstatic. Singh after his powerful innings revealed he had thought about giving up the game after being dropped from the team, earlier. 
 
"When I came back from cancer it was hard work. I was not performing and after being dropped I thought (about) whether I wanted to continue or not. I don't read newspapers, neither do I watch television. I don't like to put too much pressure on myself. I had a good run in the Ranji Trophy, so was just waiting to make it count big," Yuvraj said, crediting `hard work' for the change in his fortunes. " 
 
Yuvraj along with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=MS+Dhoni&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">MS Dhoni</a> has gotten victory to the Indian teams quite a few times and Yuvraj said, "MS and I we have previously won quite a number of matches for India. He has been an experienced guy and it was great to see the way he put it to use." 
 
"Virat showed a lot of faith and belief in me. 150 is my highest, " he added.

I wanted to start a few business opportunities. The online world is quite big and I want to invest in some future ventures. I would be helping young entrepreneurs to expand the business and make India a better place. We have plans to invest Rs 40-50 crores over next few years. We expect to raise Rs 250-300 crores from other investor by 2020.

Tell us about your everyday fitness regime? 
My regime is mostly off-season, because that’s when I can put in the extra hours. It’s very difficult to put in that time when the season starts. Of course, then it is about maintaining fitness by doing weights in the gym and very light running. But running is something that is always required. 
 
What is your diet routine like? 
I concentrate on eating good carbs and more of protein. I take brown rice instead of normal rice and use gluten-free atta instead of wheat roti. Sticking to this diet helps me maintain good health and stay fit. 
 
What is your motivation factor? 
My motivation comes from within. I am one of those who believe in fighting hard and never giving up. My mother is my biggest strength and gives me immense courage.

entrepreneurship, fitness and motivation

The man who almost single-handedly won India the coveted trophy announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday. Yuvraj Singh has not been a part of the Indian cricket team for some time now. The cancer survivor has been contemplating retirement from international cricket for quite some time now. Now, rumours are rife that he might pursue a career as a freelance cricketer in various ICC-approved foreign T20 leagues. This move might not change his brand value which has remained strong, whether he is on the field or off it. Here are some of the brands he had endorsed, over the years.

Emotional tributes poured in from all quarters in memory of legendary <keyword id="96776" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="pele" source="Orion">Pele</keyword> with Indian football icon Bhaichun Bhutia remembering the 'black pearl' as the "true king" of the game while for legendary cricketer Sachin <keyword id="6391" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tendulkar" source="Orion">Tendulkar</keyword> there won't be another like him. One of the greatest of all time and the only footballer to have won three World Cups, Pele died at the age of 82 after a prolonged battle with colon cancer. Bhutia had the opportunity to interview Pele during his last visit to India in 2018. "I had an opportunity to interview him for a summit talk in Delhi. He was such a wonderful, down-to-earth person, spoke to me close to 40 minutes," Bhutia recalled in an interaction with PTI. "The conversation was more on football, his life and a bit on Indian football. He had a great sense of humour. I asked him about his India trip, but he could not remember where and which city he played and what the outcome was. Because of the age, alright." "He was a true king and God for us. He was such a humble, soft person. Definitely, it's a big, big loss for football and the fraternity. "He is one of the greatest players cum administrators we had. He was such a great role model on and off the field. He inspired millions and millions." That was his last visit to India, which happened three years after he was felicitated in Kolkata and then attended the Subroto Cup Inter-School final in the capital. "First time he was fit, but on the second time he came in a wheelchair," Bhutia added. Tendulkar also remembered the legacy of Pele. "A great loss to not just football but to the whole world of sports. There will never be another! Your legacy will live on forever. Rest in Peace Pele!," Tendulkar wrote on his Twitter handle. The football-mad city of Kolkata watched Pele in action in 1977 when he played against Mohun Bagan in an exhibition match which happened to be his penultimate outing. Football fever had reached a crescendo as Pele was given a hero's welcome at the airport and about 90,000 crowd-packed Eden Gardens to watch his magical flair. Former India forward <keyword id="786963" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shyam-thapa" source="Orion">Shyam Thapa</keyword>, who scored the opening goal in that match, was left devastated at the news. "I'm completely devastated. I am so lucky to have played with him, I cannot forget that evening at Eden Gardens. He had a charisma about him," Thapa said. Before that eventful match on September 24, 1977, Thapa an East Bengal loyalist grabbed the headlines to become the highest-paid footballer after he was signed by arch-rivals Mohun Bagan for a record fee. And his only reason for joining Mohun Bagan was Pele. "Pele was the only reason why I left my favourite club East Bengal teary-eyed," Thapa said. "Dhiren-da (Mohun Bagan general secretary Dhiren Dey) gave me a record offer then -- Rs 50,000 -- to join Mohun Bagan, saying that he's bringing Pele's New York Cosmos to play an exhibition match here. "I repaid the faith by scoring the first goal. And, at the felicitation ceremony in the evening, while my name was called Pele refused to shake hands with me. 'You're my enemy, you scored the goal against us,' Pele told me in a lighter vein. He distinctly remembered my jersey number 22." Later, he pulled me and hugged me and said you 'played well, keep it up'." His former teammate Pradip Chowdhury also recalled that match and said: "It was raining for three days and it left Eden Gardens slushy." "But with 90,000 fans packed the stadium to the hilt, the match began. Football passion had reached a never before high." The Mohun Bagan players were left nervous and the legendary PK Banerjee, who was the coach of the team, gave them a mantra, he recalled. "We all were very nervous, PK da told us: 'don't panic, play for pride, you are here representing the country. This match will remain etched in history and everyone will keep talking about this match. "His first sight left all of us awe-struck. Everyone has to go one day. I will pray for his eternal peace," Chowdhury said. "A lot has been said about the match, but I would say the reception he got at the airport was unprecedented. No head of state or any dignitary was bestowed with such a reception. Passion had reached a zenith," Gautam Sarkar, former India footballer said. Another former national player Dipendu Biswas said: "He is the biggest star in sports, a true Mahasamrat (king) of football. There is no footballer who is not influenced by him. Recently we saw giant posters of him, wishing him 'get well soon' in the galleries of the Qatar World Cup. It's the end of an era." India goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu said: "He's an icon - not just of our sport, but of our world - has gone. Rest easy, King Pele, and thank you for all that you've done for our game." India defender Sandesh Jhingan also mourned the loss and tweeted: "A legend has left, an era has ended. But his legacy will forever remain. I will always be grateful for having the chance to be connected in a very small way with the Pele Foundation. May his soul rest well." <keyword id="619668" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arunima-Sinha">Arunima Sinha</keyword> whooped for joy. After a gruelling climb over 52 days, several near brushes with death, and as severe a test of her will as she had ever faced, she was on top of the world. She had conquered Everest – the first woman amputee to accomplish this feat. Since that day in May 2013, Sinha has scaled the highest peaks on five other continents and is just one summit away – McKinley in North America – from completing the Seven Summits Challenge to reach the highest point on each of the seven continents. A former national level volleyball player in India, Sinha was travelling from Lucknow to New Delhi in 2011 by train when robbers tried to snatch her gold necklace. “I resisted and so they pushed me out of the train,” says Sinha, who watched in horror as another train sped towards her and ran over her left leg. “I lay by the train tracks bleeding and screaming in pain the entire night, fighting off rats.” Villagers found her in the morning and carried her to the local hospital, which lacked basic facilities. Doctors amputated her left leg below the knee and inserted a rod in her right leg to support it – without anaesthetic. Those were her “darkest hours,” when she came to hate the look of pity in people’s eyes. She took inspiration from Yuvraj Singh, an Indian cricketer who had successfully battled lung cancer and was forging his return to the elite levels of the sport. After leaving hospital, she contacted Bachendri Pal, who in 1984 had become the first Indian woman to summit Everest. Pal heads the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, funded by India’s leading steelmaking company. Moved by Sinha’s story, Pal took her under her wing. “When I met Arunima, I told her, ‘In your heart you have already climbed Everest. Now you merely need to prove it to the world’,” says 65-year-old Pal. “In the early stages, she could barely walk. Her legs would bleed and swell up making every step excruciating. But she persisted.” Sinha spent two years under Pal’s guidance, building both her physical and mental toughness. She enrolled in the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi, training in the mountains of Uttarkhand, Ladakh and Nepal. Sinha on Mt Vinson in Antarctica. Photo: courtesy of Arunima Sinha “I felt demotivated when I couldn’t keep up with the other climbers, but I was determined to outpace them,” says Sinha. After eight months her legs grew accustomed to climbing. She ascended progressively higher mountains, moving to Island Peak or Imja Tse (6,189 metres) in the eastern Nepalese Himalayas and Mount Chamser Kangri (6,622m) in Ladakh, India. She learned to use ropes to climb, carrying 20kg of supplies and walking with crampons for traction on ice. Tata Steel helped her cross the final hurdle, providing sponsorship to cover costs that can range from US$40,000 to US$90,000. On April 1, 2013, Sinha began her quest as a part of the company’s Eco Expedition Everest Group. Climbers tackle hazards that include freezing temperatures, altitude sickness, avalanches and blizzards. After reaching Camp 2 at 6,400m, the second of four stops en route to the 8,858m summit, Sinha ran into serious and unique difficulties. <h2 style="margin-top: 1.14286rem; margin-bottom: 0.428571rem; font-variant: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-size: 1.71429rem; line-height: 2.21429rem; font-family: Merriweather, serif; vertical-align: baseline;">I resolved that I would not let the fear of death hold me back … I knew that if I turned back then, I would never forgive myself. It was now or neverSinha on risking her life to continue through Everest’s death zone</h2> “Banging my feet against the snow to get a grip on the ice, I damaged my artificial leg stump. On several occasions my artificial leg turned 180 degrees and I had to put it back to its normal position which slowed me down,” she says. “I had to crawl along the slope to move forward, annoying the climbers behind me.” At Camp 4 at 8,000m – the infamous ‘death zone’ where the ambient oxygen level is so low that the body’s cells slowly begin to die – Sinha witnessed dead bodies, and even saw a climber who had run out of oxygen take his last few breaths. “I resolved that I would not let the fear of death hold me back,” she says. On May 21, after hours of strenuous climbing, Sinha’s group had reached the Hillary Step, just 100m from the summit. Stretched in front of them was <a href="https://www.scmp.com/comment/insight-opinion/article/3012340/now-time-crowd-control-everest" class="link-text">a human traffic jam along a dangerously narrow route</a> in which only one person could pass at a time. It took two hours for the jam to clear, by which time Sinha was running low on oxygen. Sinha on Mt Everest. Photo: courtesy of Arunima Sinha Her sherpa, Neema Kancha, warned that if she continued up, she might not survive the climb down. “I knew that if I turned back then, I would never forgive myself. It was now or never,” says Sinha, who pushed on. Two hours later, she stood on top of the world. “I felt like dancing, crying and laughing, all at the same time. I wanted to tell the world: here I am!” Unfurling the Indian flag, she recorded a one-minute video, asking Kancha to send it home if she didn’t survive. The climb down Everest is far more deadly than the ascent. Thirty steps into her descent, Sinha’s oxygen ran out. Instead, she held the support rope with one hand, and her prosthetic with the other, dragging herself down to the first stop. It usually takes 17 hours from Camp 4 to the summit and back. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched her memoir, Born Again On The Mountain, in December 2014. In 2015, Sinha was awarded India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, and the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award. Sinha has established an eponymous foundation to empower women and disabled children, and plans to set up a sports academy for underprivileged and physically challenged children in India’s Uttar Pradesh state. “I would not have climbed Everest had I not met with the accident in 2011.
